Woke Karens: We Won't Take Our Masks Off, Ever.

Karen isn't about to shed the Religious Face Covering that makes her righteous and virtuous and feel like she's a character in A Handmaid's Tale.

From NPR:

Even With The No-Mask Guidance, Some Pockets Of The U.S. Aren't Ready To Let Go

...

In western Washington -- the epicenter of the first known U.S. outbreak of the coronavirus -- people have adopted masking with zeal, both as a protective measure and as a gesture of solidarity around the COVID-19 pandemic.

...

"Turning on a dime and stopping wearing masks, even if I'm fully vaccinated, just feels very sudden," says Angie Kamel, while walking through Seattle's Alki Beach neighborhood.

And some people worry that without universal mask requirements, an "honor code" approach will be ripe for abuse.

"I don't trust other people," said Jillian Rose, as she waited in line to get her COVID-19 shot the other day. "We're late in the game, so think about how many other people are out there and are not going to get it at all?"

If you're vaccinated -- what the fuck do you care what other people do?

This isn't about "health or safety."

This is what it's always about: Control by socialist sociopaths.

At the Atlantic, Slate's leftwing film critic Dana Stevens isn't ready to give up her mouth-burka just yet:

Excuse Me If I'm Not Ready to Unmask

Early on in the pandemic, I vowed to set a high standard for COVID-19 avoidance.

So noble! So elevated!

And what's this illogical woman's rational for keeping on the mask despite "The Science" telling her she no longer needs to?

Well, she straight-up admits it: It's part of the continued #Resistance to Trump.

The pussyhat has migrated to the mouth.

Let's not forget that for the first 10-plus months of this pandemic the country was led by a bizarrely compassion-free would-be autocrat seemingly incapable of uttering a sentence that did not contain at least one dangerous lie. Americans were put in the position of making personal decisions that had potential life-and-death consequences for every person we met and countless others we would never even see, based on information that was constantly shifting, typically self-contradictory, and far too often coming from dubious sources.

Like from Anthony Fauci, who lied and told people masks were useless?

Oh wait no, you don't mean Fauci.

You mean the Bad Orange Man.

We were told to inject bleach (or, even more confusingly, sunlight) into our bodies, and saw the seriousness of COVID-19 minimized.

No one said that.

We watched a badly managed crisis shut down our most cherished public institutions, the places where we gather to learn from one another and share in the joy of living: schools, libraries, theaters, concert halls. Worst of all, we saw more than half a million of our fellow citizens--our mothers, fathers, grandparents, spouses, children, colleagues, and friends--die lonely and, in many cases, preventable deaths in overburdened hospitals staffed by medical workers haggard from exhaustion.

More hallucinations -- the "overburdened hospital" prediction, with doctors falling asleep on their feet due to the thousands of covid patients, never happened.

Brave Democrats like Andrew Cuomo saw to that, by diverting covid patients away from hospitals and into nursing homes.

Even those government bodies not staffed by sociopaths--the CDC, the World Health Organization--often gave contradictory advice that left us scrambling for concrete guidance. Did we really spend months spraying our groceries with Fantastik and leaving our mail in a box outside the door for two days in order to let any virus on its surface die off? Well, yes, because the articles we were scouring for advice on how to survive suggested that we do so.

Who's this "we," you neurotic hysteic?

And which articles told you to spray fruit with Fantastik? You mean articles in the feminist clickbait mills you read?

They're not scientific journals. You know that, right?

Just over a year ago, the official guidance on masks quietly migrated from "Don't wear them at all, so that the limited supply can go to health-care workers" to "They are now required in all public places," without any substantial acknowledgment that the previous advice had been, not to put too fine a point on it, wrong.

Note she's referenced Trump but she can't seem to find the name of the health official who told this lie.

Suddenly, in place of the listicles about high-touch-area scrubbing, instructions were circulating on how to sew your own mask from an old T-shirt or handkerchief; mask making became a thriving cottage industry on Etsy.

Listicle! See, I told you she was getting her "medical advice" from bent feminist clickbait mills.

They have the most wonderful Sciencing in them!

...

Now that the reins of government have been taken by a president and a party that, whatever you think of their policy positions, at least appear united in their belief that mass death is a bad thing...

Shrilly toxic basket-case hysteric who thinks that her unbalanced ravings make for interesting reading.

I prefer Rep. Massie's take:

Chardonnay-swilling Toad Empress has thoughts:

15 As mentioned in the last thread, just went free-faced shopping at King Soopers (Kroger) and it felt soooo good!

So much stupidity out there though. One liquor store on the plaza, who have been militant mask n*zi's all along, has signs out saying "We Follow the Science! You STILL must wear a mask over your NOSE and MOUTH! If you can't comply you can't come in!"

TJ Maxx is not only still requiring masks, but for some odd reason is still touting "Full surface cleaning after every visit" even though the CDC has already admitted the Coup Flu doesn't spread from surfaces (which we knew for a full year before they admitted it.)

"Science" now means whatever supports one's position.

28 Repost - willowed and more on topic here...family, even FL family - what are you gonna do...

435 OT, but this is Covid era insanity in a nutshell...

In FL and at theme parks...kids picked up the "Florida" or "cruise ship" crud. One of the kids is even vax'ed.

Since 2 only had it 24 hours, we kept them home from seeing spouse's sister today, but she was still happy to see her bro (they are both vax'ed).

So, we're supposed to see my family (1 bro, 2 sis) on Sat/Sun, but both dates already canceled by my NON-vax'd bro b/c they worry about catching anything. Hello, then get vax'ed.

So, I don't come down to FL every day, and I'm the immunocompromised one, and 2 of the kids already better within 24 hours, respectively, but we're gonna miss my family and it was decided ALREADY, not Sunday.

Now, time to make new weekend vacation plans, since I'm betting all my kids will be better tomorrow (and they'll be ready to go somewhere)...and FL theme parks are the land of 1000 viruses, just not Covid. We've been all over my area and vacay'd last year in Williamsburg, VA, and have not been sick since pre-Covid...til we were in FL...

And hey, Karen? Here's the thing. No one is banning your facemask. If you want to wear a mask as a virtue signal, or because you're dumb, or whatever your motivation is, guess what? YOU CAN!

No one will stop you unless they need to check identity. No one is going to walk up to you and rip your mask off your face. You can do whatever you want. Wear a mask, wear two, tattoo a mask over your face and then cover it with another mask. Whatever you want, baby. Just do it. In fact, I want you to do it because six more weeks from now when it's just you and your ilk, and I'll be able to immediately identify you and you isolate your shrieking harridan asses away from me.

But leave me alone and shut the fuck up about it.

And yet - people are not eager for this to happen. I guess the Karens did gain power from it and they don't want to give it up.

88 Liberals used to spurn "outgroup" thinking. However, from what I've been reading, oxytocin makes biological "inclusivity" simply another means of picking your tribe.

Oxytocin is a hormone that while it promotes extreme receptivity to one group, expands the antipathy with another.

We've now got people bathed in "inclusivity" oxytocin, deciding that they'll wear a mask to avoid appearing like the enemy.

This is a feature of (what I'm calling) a "taboo society". If people wanted to know how religious people of former ages could accept bizarre discontinuities, it's likely because society made it taboo to think non-A. Where A might be an inconsistent set of reinforced thoughts.

109 Oxytocin is a player, it appears, in the maternal instinct. Extreme-identification with one's family members, but it creates the negative reaction of bias toward one's family members we see with women.

Men, typically, see their children as people who will have to survive outside the nest and be responsible to other people outside the home. Thus, fathers tend to discipline their children to a place outside the family.

I think that an extreme level of dispassion for one's own children is what creates in fathers that "not good enough" syndrome that can destroy kids.

Fauci is an incompetent and slimy scheming political creature - has been known to be such *since the 1980s* - but that's irrelevant. Mask science is what it is.

Massive RCT in Denmark a year ago confirmed 7 decades of research. Authors had trouble getting it published (the most topical conceivable f***ing study imaginable, in the middle of a global public health hysteria - and had trouble getting it into print - "lysenkoism", class you can say if it you spell it out).

Parents made their choices, and many also wrote to the school board and asked that schools be opened full time.

This will probably not surprise you, but the option they chose, which was not on their survery, was to keep schools completely online.

1990~: When you say something against homosexuality, a gay person gets beat up somewhere.

The "scientific" among us understand the logical problem with "action at a distance", however, an erstwhile science-minded crowd accepted that speaking against gays resulted in gay bashing, with no direct causal link.

This seems to have matured into a general taboo mindset of the Woke. You accepted a special case action-at-a-distance assignment of blame, and now, you're responsible for anything anybody wants to rail at you for. Including the regrettable disparatity of circumstance by ethnicity.

In addition, too many people just turned their mind off in 2009 on the subject of gay marriage. You had been conditioned to avoid "getting gay people beat up" by thinking them into the cornfield, so there was a learned reluctance to avoid particularizing their claim to marriage. Back then, even Ace called me out for thinking gay people were "icky", because I was unconvinced by the specious talk about SSM.

161 Ugh, in our county we voted to pick one of two locations to build a new stadium for the high schoolers to play. We picked location 1. Then they put it on the ballot AGAIN, and AGAIN we picked location 1. Then two weeks ago the school board voted to put it at location 2. Because we just don't know what's good for us.

257 I work from home for a woke company and deal with this insanity every day. Just yesterday we had a lunch social meeting (on Slack) to talk about anything but work (a bonding exercise).

We spent 45 minutes talking about Covid updates (How is it in your area?) from everyone. One Karen was outraged the mask mandate was going away in her area and she refused to take it off even though she's gotten the jabs and BELIEVES in the science. One guy said they were having their first large family function this summer, but ONLY if everyone, including the children, had been jabbed.

I sit there with a rictus smile on my face, nodding occasionally, horrified that I'm dealing with pod people. Off camera my reaction is like the reaction Rowdy Roddy Piper had when he put on the glasses in They Live.

What defines a "democracy"? The vote. What sustains the "vote" in a consistent democracy? Trust in the vote.

Policing trust in the vote is not the same thing as restoring trust in the vote. John Locke said that the mind is made to be convinced not compelled. The solvers of logistical problems think that's a complication.

And yet, there is no professional analysis of the 2020 election vote, not anywhere - except by supposedly "conspiracy theorists" as the press likes to call anyone looking at these totals or acts even a bit curious about these staggering figures.

vmom, and anyone else who is interested, someone here (and I'm sorry but I can't remember who) posted a link to Solari that has forms you can download if your employer or school mandates the covid vaccine and you do not want to get it. It's a long questionnaire asking them to acknowledge their liability.

Here's the student version. At the top of that page there's a link for the employer form too.

I've been sending the student form to anyone I know with college kids who don't want their kids to have to be vaccinated against their will.

330 Lack of near-universal revolt against the idiocy of school closures is the simplest indicator of civic collapse. Even when directly, materially, disastrously affected - their children's education included - the vast bulk of American parents ..... did/said little to nothing.

Even the nearly unbelievable arrogance and idiocy of teachers and their union reps, which seem actually designed to arouse an angry response, get tiny blips of outrage here, and there.

It's dead (mostly), Jim.

I am proud to say that all four CRT loving liberal incumbent school board members were voted out this week in our town - in the only school board vote I ever participated in!

Unfortunately, the school board budget passed with its 22% annual increase - I guess people figured if you vote in an entire new board you have to give them the dough to make a change - but I voted against it, since the denial of the budget WAS the change - but, hey, I live in NY - so I guess tossing the liberals running the board was the best I could hope for...

Dover Delaware did this. And at *every* step that the school board was told they couldn't do something as an "institution of religion" or an "excessive entanglement" they did not follow through. In other words, they obeyed the law.

But finally, the power structure of the left sued them over making a statement telling parents that Natural Selection would be thought and tested as a part of the Science curriculum. And for that presentation, they got hit with a "suit" about lacking a "wholly secular intent" (which is the new standard) by simply referring to an Intelligent Design book (which was no less quite naturalistic).

Losing that suit convinced the people of Dover that the schoolboard had done something scurrilous and that board was voted out the next round.

That's the power of the capture of institutions. When you lose control of one institution, like say the Executive branch, you bring all other institutions

He got the votes - the question is where they came from, because they could not have come from registered voters, well, at least not from the first and only vote they cast...that is empirically impossible. Which is why none of the usual professional election consulting houses have published even one statistical paper on the 2020 vote.

348 Between the utterly shameless and unrepentant contempt for people pouring out in such things as Ryan doing fundraisers for Kinziger, and the parodic GOP under McCarthy mumbling and shambling along instead of attacking and demonizing the unbelievable idiocy lawlessness and racism of the Dems (including the idiot children's administration), one wonders just which natural force will dominate in 2022.

The voter suppression of everything the GOP does/doesn't do, as it continues to show it is every bit as pernicious as that prior to Trump.

Or the trapped dynamic under which people vote for the GOP out of desperation, as the only "alternative" to the Dems?

350 In the liberal minds, a good part of America that they don't like is "Corporate America", and in shutting down the country, in giving the government the prominence--although they hated who had the control in that ascendency--we could "all be together".

They enjoyed the pablum that we were "all in this together" and they had a respite from the "profit motive". And we practiced a widespread dole, not even caring for once whether people even cared to work, just shoveling money to them because we wanted them to survive.

This just feels like the glory days for haters of "Corporate America". And they feel dismayed to see it leave.

It's really sad to see people act like marionettes. But that's what people are proving themselves to be.

354 And this is part of the reason I need to get out of this state. I was on the ferry in Puget Sound when Seattle was hit with this. didn't get sick. The only time I get sick is when I wear that stupid mask. it's virtue signaling and pointless.

One friend has been sick two days from the Moderna. Another mutual friend told him to just tough it out, better than getting sick with the real thing. Well, he HAD the real thing. He went to urgent care, got an inhaler and toughed it out at home. so dumb

What most people don't know is that HIPAA greatly increased access to your medical records for a number of reasons and for a number of institutions.
