LOL: Neocon Dynast and Typical Beltway Liberal Liz Cheney Not Ruling Out a 2024 Presidential Run

As Sheriff J.W. Peppers said, "For which side?"

House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney is not ruling out a potential presidential bid, The Post has learned.

"I'm not ruling anything in or out -- I've been here a long time," she told The Post when asked if she would ever consider running in the future.

The Neoliberal Corporate Shill-Site Washington Examiner just reported that Liz Cheney continued to stoke the culture war feud within the party -- the neoliberal Bushites won't fight the culture war against the left, but they love fighting it against actual conservatives -- by denying that President Trump, who has/had the support of 92% of Republicans, was a leader in the party.

Former President Donald Trump is not the leader of the Republican Party, House GOP Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney told reporters Monday at a lawmaker retreat not far from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

...

"I think our elected leaders are the ones who are in charge of the Republican Party," the Wyoming Republican told reporters when she was asked about Trump's role.

...

While Trump is poised to play a role in the next election, Cheney dismissed his influence not just in the midterm elections but in the next presidential election. Trump has not ruled out making an attempt to regain the White House and could be a leading candidate.

Cheney suggested Republicans can win with a strong platform.

"As we look at 2022 and 2024, we are very much going to be focused on substance and on the issues, and I think that is where we have to go to attract back the voters that we lost in 2020 by conveying to them that, in fact, we are the party that they can trust regarding confidence and conservative principles."

Posted by: huerfano at April 26, 2021 12:36 PM (DzhEB)

9 2020 was supposed to be a blue wave which repudiated Trump. Instead the GOP gained in the House, and the Dems and GOP establishment resorted to open theft to win the Presidency. If McConnell hadn't stabbed Trump in the back re: stimulus checks, then the GOP would likely have held the Senate. The establishment is desperate to somehow get rid of Trump's influence and go back to the good old days, but that isn't happening.

"Conservative principles" such as amnesty, low taxes for corrupt corps, and endless foreign interventions to try to make more "democracies"? No thanks.

The GOPe relies on the splitter strategy in primaries in order to prevent populist conservatives from winning. They also like the blanket primaries and rank ordered voting so that their unpopular GOPe poisonous creatures can run against the worst that the Dems have to offer.

Closed party primaries and run off elections serve to keep GOPe in its place.

194 There is a fun tweet by Scott Presler. He was invited to speak to a women's group in WY. He is there to help push Cheney out of office. He said that when he said he was there to "repeal and replace Liz cheney" a woman got up and introduced herself as a Cheney staffer. She then sat back down. So he proceeded to tell her why he was there. I truly think Cheney believes it is a hereditary office.

It does not matter if we 'have a deep bench' or that the Dems don't if elections do not matter. It does not matter who we vote for if the minute they are there they do whatever they damn well please and if they do they get fucking knifed by all the other assholes that are supposed to be supporting them. No, fuck that- not supporting them but actually fucking supporting the rule of law and fair elections.

257 Good. More of this. This is only to the benefit, for a couple of reasons:

1. The presidency is a false prize. It doesn't matter if we have it or not. If we have it - as Trump demonstrated - the system will fight the executive tooth and nail, ignore orders, obstruct and prevent much progress. If we don't have it, they can move a bit faster but it doesn't really change the math. The presidency is pointless, so it doesn't matter who runs.

2. The more people from Conservative, Inc. who run, the more capital from Conservative, Inc. gets consumed by their quixotic ambitions.

Colorado, Oregon, and Arizona are the biggest beneficiaries of the California Exodus. Texas to a lesser extent. The population growth is in Texas comes from all over - the northeast, California, and a high birth rate. Last year, Texas registered over 1,000 babies born *per* *day*, which is driving population just as much as people moving in.

Assuming this is true (I wasn't around then), I'd reckon that the answer is "evidence."

Speaking only for myself, I used to believe in the progress and integrity of globalist economics and the judicious use of American military power. I didn't like McCain (the "Gang of Eight" *and* the "Keating Five" were major problems for me, any given position notwithstanding), yet I held my nose and voted because I used to be a Republican.

What changed? I learned new information. I acquired more data. I determine that globalist economics is unworkable at best and disastrously corrupt in probability. I learned that American warfare in the modern era is a loser's bet because the Left will obstruct and oppose when not in power (getting our men killed) and will engage in half-hearted periodic war when in power, to no end or objective. I learned that the Republicans are shit sandwiches they keep telling me are delicious.

Acknowledging new data and adjusting one's opinions isn't immoral, and it isn't flip-flopping.

That's a false prize, too. If they want something besides taxes and budgets, they can sneak it in through the administrative state because a hundred years's worth of enabling acts ensures that path remains open. The big items - taxes and budget - will result in a "government shutdown" battle that no president has ever won and no Republican president has even been able to fight to a draw.

The veto pen - assuming it is used at all - is a brake. It slows down the decline and destruction, but it can't prevent it. The only benefit to having a Republican president is the opportunity to *slow* the erosion, not to stop or reverse it and modestly lower taxes. Modestly lower taxes are an absolute good, but it's the only thing we can possibly accomplish with ostensible, in-name-only control of the White House.

I don't think anyone cares anymore. Maybe for the pretty dresses -- but not even the local a.m. news was gushing over it as they usually do.

Apparently the one big win that everone expected didn't happen: Chadwick Bozeman, who died recently, was the sentimental favorite for his last role (forget the movie), and the ceremony was rearranged to have best actor announced last (instead of best picture). And then -- Anthony Hopkins won. Oopsie!
