We really should have just assumed this.
From the Chicago Tribune:Nearly five decades later, the two men now say that former choir director, the Rev. Michael Pfleger, molested them dozens of times over several years beginning in the early 1970s. The brothers said they were sexually abused in Pfleger’s room at three churches, beginning at Precious Blood and including St. Sabina on the South Side, where the well-known priest has been assigned since his 1975 ordination.Should we impeach Obama now? Did Obama "incite" Pfleger to molest children?

There's a Cardinal from Australia, can't remember his name now, but he was/is considered a conservative. Well, they dredged up a supposed charge against him, he was at the Vatican, voluntarily we back home to face charges, and they tossed him in prison. On a bogus charge that was easily debunked.
So it's not just that there are difficulties in sorting out the truth from fiction, it's that the standard for who gets believed is apparently directly proportional to the political position of the accused.

There's too much of a chicken/egg thing going on here for that to be the solution.
What the Church has done for decades is ignore a very real problem, and it's now beyond anyone's ability to rein it back in.
However... if there is a solution to be had, it's in finding the theological foundation for the principle of single adult celibate men as priests, and emphasize THAT, instead of trying to ease up on things. It's what the Church has always done, when confronting its own sins, and having all these modern liberal (and commie) ideas about opening the windows and letting the breeze of modern thinking in... that's been a MAJOR factor in the destruction of the Church since the 60s. At least.

It's not an explanation that works for much of human history since power was often dependent on lineage or personal ability. Unlike teaching they can't do all that much to self-select into it. They shouldn't be showing up in the numbers they do unless the proclivity in the general population is very high.

That was then. And with stolen elections becoming normal today, it's not always attributable to increased proclivity. As we see, sick people can get installed into office in opposition to the will of the people, which gives the appearance of more widespread acceptance of sin when that's not the case at all.

There's basically no correlation between the ability for clergy to marry, and the prevalence of child sexual abuse. Basically, you can take virtually any institution in the world these days, where adults have unsupervised contact with children, and the abuse is widespread.
It's happening in a LOT of Protestant churches too.
And schools. And athletics. And scouting. And doctor's offices, and homes (both bio parents and step parents/live in significant others of the custodial parent) and so on and so on and so on.
Whether priests can marry or not, is not really related to this problem at all.

One of the historical concerns to my understanding of the Catholic decision to only have celibate priests was the tricky issue of property inheritance, the fact that a married priest might be not wholly wedded to the church in their concerns, and the requirement to pay living wages to support a family which would cut down on the amount of charity offered to others.
But, things are not as they were when that decision was made--used to be priesthood was one of the few white collar jobs with social status available to average people in the Middle Ages so plenty of applicants around. In addition, the Catholic Church was pretty much the only game in town for ordination. Not true today in the US and as someone noted, the Church is importing priests from other countries as a result.
Even religion has to respond to supply and demand. Their responses may vary but that may affect the growth rate. In some cases like the Shakers, very negatively.

I think there's an argument that the increased efficiency of large businesses are countered by the increased fragility, and the potential damage to society when those businesses go under, along with the problem that increased power allowed them outsized influence over politics. Breaking up large corporations would probably be the equivalent for today.

Not wishing to get into a theological argument here, but there have several times when I've been in the hospital or home when a person died. I may not give communion, but I've prayed for them blessed them and commended then to God. It's not as if faithful full time Protestant ministers with busy congregations are only working 40 hours a week. Married Orthodox Priests are very busy too
But I do think it would be hard to be a RC priest and be married-too much time away from family

I think you will find that when the bishop is good and holy, and has a spine, there is no problem with vocations. It is only the spineless and homosexual bishops who have issues with boys deciding to attend seminary. This is a clear pattern in the US, not just Africa or other countries. Take a look at the Western Province of Dominicans website. Or Madison, WI, which oddly is a mess of commies, but the Church there is strong and holy. Lots of vocations. Nobody except other homosexuals want to sign up with a fag bishop.

Religious practices vary among denominations and often chaplains are appointed for hospitals and hospices that are Protestant.
Generally, the particulars of any religious discussion revolve around an explanation why the practice exists and (if faithful) why it should continue to exist. Comparative analysis of religions is generally left to seminaries and academics because the faithful are defensive of their practices and the unfaithful are often derisive and treat the practice as an anachronism or worse.
Reading enough history, including religious history, it tends to produce a jaundiced view of many religious practices. The churches with hierarchies have an easier time correcting grave errors while those with individualistic approaches often have a chaotic approach to religion that depends on the charismatic preacher rather than any carefully derived church doctrine.

I was offered the vaccine and declined. The risk is so minimal, and the issues with the vaccine are many.
First, there's the use of fetal tissue to develop them, taken from aborted kids. Second, no long term testing, so who knows if it will even be effective. Etc.
But it would seem to me that if the first shot was fine, the second should also be fine.

From the reports of serious side effects that I have seen, those having it the worst are those with prior problems with allergies to medications or immunizations.

It's more closely defined (by the FDA's own rules) as a medical device; an RNA template enclosed in a protective lipid layer, meant to induce your body's cells to produce a pathogen.
Johnson and Johnson is actually developing something that is more truly a vaccine, and should be safer. I don't know when it will be approved.
I have had the 'Rona and have antibodies. I am not taking any kind of vaccine any time soon.

People die all the time from unforseen things, sometimes sudden things. Unexpected reactions to drugs, anesthesia, heart attacks, strokes. 155 deaths if it means 200,000 lives saved means those deaths were not in vain.Maybe by analyzing what went wrong, they can make the vaccine better.
