In Nigeria, Christians and Muslims (in the south at least) wishb each other Merry Christmas and Happy Ramadan. I don't know why some people in this country have a stick up their butt about it.
At work, everyone says Happy Holidays. I say Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays (to accommodate potential Jewish peeps). Maybe it's a cop out but I still get my Merry Christmas in there.

Was it another "domestic disturbance"? If I were a police officer, that's the last type of call that I would want to respond to. I would be very interested to see statistics, for both injured/killed police officers and"victims" that break out the underlying reason for the initial interaction. It seems that, lately, any time I hear of an officer shot, it was in connection to a domestic disturbance.

I have no expectation that people wish me a Happy Hanukkah. I hide my horns, so there is no way for people to know that i am Jewish. The "Happy Holidays" crap pisses me off to no end. It's so crass on so many levels. The fact that's it being putatively done on my behalf as a Jew infuriates me. It does not make me feel more included, but more marginalized, less a part of my country and its traditions.
Moreover, its proponents present it as tolerance and inclusion, but it's the opposite of that. It's a small number of hateful anti-Christian bigots using a heckler's veto to marginalize a religious group in their own country.
And it's another means for our censorious leftwing overlords to bully everyone into submission.

I think the picture represents a fine scandi tradition where children are shooed out of the big room with a tree on Christmas eve, and adults decorate it with candles, candies and toys and then let in to marvel at it all.

The kid was probably taking his job into his owns hands, but it really stood out to me. He was nice and upbeat and wishing well on those whom he encountered - exactly the point of major holidays (specific religious or historical reasons notwithstanding, of course).

Many Jews do. My family never did the Christmas card thing, but we sometimes had a tree (usually when family was in town). That part seems like a big positive for Jarvanka ... but the Manhattan "liberals" still did more harm than good imo, other than giving Trump family comfort in the midst of the coup. And I'm guessing Trump's success in the ME agreements had more to do with Trump than Kushner.
The link from JJ this morning discussed other downsides to Jared and Ivanka, ending with Ivanka's presidential dreams. Unfortunately I can see Trump being influenced by what might help Ivanka pursue that path. The best path is four more years of Donald Trump and a stronger sovereign America.

Yeah, and to try to belittle and shame the dominant culture. If the dominant culture were Hinduism, all other things being equal, they'd try to get people to stop wishing others a good Diwali. I don't get the Jewish mistrust of Christians that some have. There were times, sure, where it it might have been justified. Not in my lifetime and for a goodly period before it, though. I think it might be that every Antisemite that an American Jew is likely to meet is going to be a Christian, but that is foolish reasoning - most people in this country are Christians, so it's an odds-on bet.

Perhaps so. The point I am trying to make, though, is that just because you might meet a bigot (in fact, you will), it doesn't mean that everyone is bigoted or that the system is bigoted. It *could* be evidence of that, but it probably isn't. The odds are good that you just met a prick and if you generalize from there, you're likely drawing wrong conclusions.

I know I've said this before but a lot of people watch a heavy diet of WWII and Holocaust film where the bad guys are always of Christian descent. It's odd how those characters are never subject to "color blind casting". And then there are the alternative history programs where the white Christian types are still slaughtering everyone in sight. We Jews are still "fighting " WWII and "Never Forget" does not mean think ahead and look out for new threats.
My husband watches WWII fiction all the time, and thinks Islam is a very minor threat.

Definitely, today that is true. The left has embraced antisemitism. The only others are fringe white supremacists, who no one cares about because they are few and are largely powerless specks.
But the church does have a history of antisemitism, which thankfully, it seems we are largely over. (Except perhaps for progressive "churches".) It certainly contravened Scripture and was just another example of humans being sucky.

As a Jew, very few things make me happier about living in a Christian country than the Christmas season in America. I adore its religious meaning, the glorious music, the cheerful
lights and decorations, and the effort that so many people make to be happier and kinder and more invested in their fellow man
makes me smile.

Yeah, to libs (like most of my idiot family), life is always a zero-sum gain, no matter the topic. When I asked for any dietary adjustments for my annual holiday gift package, half of them minced, "Oh, donate to food bank instead", as if less of one means more for the other. I have the means to do both, and I have done so, my whole life. So in their view, wishing Merry Christmas means you DON'T wish them any other variety of holiday or seasonal joy.
Idiots.
For the record, I sent them all a holiday gift package, like I always do, AND upped my charitable contributions, like I always do, this time of year.

Going nowhere tomorrow. No kids. No grandkids. Just me, the XO, and two cats. This has happened only once before, about ten years ago when it snowed twelve inches or so Christmas Eve and nobody could get out of their driveway. I dropped off the two youngest grandkids' presents Tuesday and talked to sil for a while. He suggested that we have a summer get together to make up for losing all the holidays the year. Sounds good to me.

Fear of God (which I don't interpret as being frightened of him since every angelic appearance began with Fear not) should be accompanied by love for him. He is our Father who actually loves us. In fact, the first and greatest commandment is to love Him.
I think a lot of people struggle with accepting God loves them. I understand why but it's really great once you understand he does.

There is the fear of getting hurt, or punished, or of something going awry. Then there is the fear of the incomprehensible, the fear of disorientation, of not knowing what is going on.
I think the "Fear not" of divine/angelic manifestations is to allay the second kind. Almost like a nicer version of a Lovecraftian horror... to look directly upon the transcendent would have to be unsettling and shocking at first, unless you are pretty darn saintly yourself.

Local family. They got crushed when Wuhan Flu hit and the restaurants closed (big wholesale business). So I stopped buying seafood from anywhere else and spent my money there. They cut back on their employee's hours but gave everyone at least a few hours each week. I thought that was decent of them.
They seem to have recovered well, and their Christmas retail business is going well.
And they are really nice people. It was a pleasure doing my little bit to keep them around.

But that is a "spirit of sonship" special Christian thing, imo there is still a Resurrection of the Just (and of the unjust). So same rules apply, "Just Jews" today are in the good resurrection, same as OT rules/law, and that ain't bad. There are plenty of fake and/or secular Jews and Christians. My summary is that good people that don't truly, deep in the heart, become Christian, still can be in the Resurrection of the Just ... by being "just".

It seemed like every agency/company had differing rules whether or not an original was required when I went through this. On top of that, they seemed to be most willing to do anything to make your sad times even more difficult.

Solid "good old days" indicators: metal shop, and abalone so abundant a knife to get them was a standard project in city schools ....

More than a decade later, I think I still have about 19 copies. Almost every place I needed to send one accepted a photocopy.

I'm shocked when they aren't vapid lefties. Gina Carano, for example, seems to be a sensible person, which is refreshing.
In general, they are there to entertain me, so I generally pay them no mind outside their job. Of course, they can become very obnoxious and difficult to take after a while.

I'm writing from the People's Republic of California. We defied Gov. Gruesome and went to the land of fruits and nuts, as usual, to celebrate Christmas with extended family. Most of the extended family are die-hard left-wingers, but they, too, are sick and tired of Gruesome and his hypocrisy. (Just say "French Laundry" to my Mother-in-law!) We don't argue politics, and we get along great.
