The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

Larsson Christmas.jpg

The destruction of our culture, at the hands of the woke scum, or the SJWs, or the progressives, or whatever term you prefer to describe the enemies of freedom and liberty and tradition and a unyielding morality proceeds apace.

But today I will gleefully ignore them and wish everyone a very merry and happy and peaceful and loving Christmas.

As a Jew, very few things make me happier about living in a (still) Christian country than the Christmas season in America. I have no interest in its religious meaning, but the glorious music, the cheerful lights and decorations, and the effort that so many people make to be just a bit happier and kinder and more invested in their fellow man makes me smile.

Wishing my fish monger a Merry Christmas (don't say "Happy Holidays" to me unless you want a stern lecture) is a joy. And the bagger at the supermarket, who quite obviously wanted to say Merry Christmas instead of the insipid corporate blather that he was taught during orientation, made me chuckle and maybe have a bit of optimism for the future. The nice young lady at my mother's assisted living facility who patiently walked me through a FaceTime session with my mom (because COVID!) deserves to be wished a very Merry Christmas, because she is kind and whip smart and her family (they own a restaurant) doesn't deserve what Cuomo is doing to them.

And even to all of you Morons, who never pass up an opportunity to give the cobloggers (and even Ace) a ration of shit (probably deserved) have a happy and healthy and joy-filled Christmas!

28 If Merry Christmas is so offensive, then they should not take Christmas day off. Because the reason it's a holiday is because of *Christmas day*, Karens.

In Nigeria, Christians and Muslims (in the south at least) wishb each other Merry Christmas and Happy Ramadan. I don't know why some people in this country have a stick up their butt about it.

At work, everyone says Happy Holidays. I say Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays (to accommodate potential Jewish peeps). Maybe it's a cop out but I still get my Merry Christmas in there.

Was it another "domestic disturbance"? If I were a police officer, that's the last type of call that I would want to respond to. I would be very interested to see statistics, for both injured/killed police officers and"victims" that break out the underlying reason for the initial interaction. It seems that, lately, any time I hear of an officer shot, it was in connection to a domestic disturbance.

Don't mention non-violent drug offenders' ones but do Charles Kushner, just called "father of Trump's son-in-law", without saying it was from 2005 over campaign financing laws, tax evasion, witness tampering when he had been a lifelong Dem until 2015 for MAGA. Omissions make it sound like it's release from prison for a current offence. Don't mention Jared Kushner's role in Mideast Peace talks.

The "Happy Holidays" crap pisses me off to no end. It's so crass on so many levels. The fact that's it being putatively done on my behalf as a Jew infuriates me. It does not make me feel more included, but more marginalized, less a part of my country and its traditions.

Moreover, its proponents present it as tolerance and inclusion, but it's the opposite of that. It's a small number of hateful anti-Christian bigots using a heckler's veto to marginalize a religious group in their own country.

And it's another means for our censorious leftwing overlords to bully everyone into submission.

Many Jews do. My family never did the Christmas card thing, but we sometimes had a tree (usually when family was in town). It's because the Christmas season is pleasant and enjoyable and a big part of the culture over all. That's a good thing unless you're a pinch-faced scold who's offended for a living.

113 "Don't mention Jared Kushner's role in Mideast Peace talks."

That part seems like a big positive for Jarvanka ... but the Manhattan "liberals" still did more harm than good imo, other than giving Trump family comfort in the midst of the coup. And I'm guessing Trump's success in the ME agreements had more to do with Trump than Kushner.

The link from JJ this morning discussed other downsides to Jared and Ivanka, ending with Ivanka's presidential dreams. Unfortunately I can see Trump being influenced by what might help Ivanka pursue that path. The best path is four more years of Donald Trump and a stronger sovereign America.

The number one interest in international travel would be to see Israel. (My mom actually made the trip.)

I know I've said this before but a lot of people watch a heavy diet of WWII and Holocaust film where the bad guys are always of Christian descent. It's odd how those characters are never subject to "color blind casting". And then there are the alternative history programs where the white Christian types are still slaughtering everyone in sight. We Jews are still "fighting " WWII and "Never Forget" does not mean think ahead and look out for new threats.
My husband watches WWII fiction all the time, and thinks Islam is a very minor threat.

225 Hanukkah, and the overthrow of Antiochus Epiphanies by the Maccabee's is truly an inspirational story, one we could learn some lessons from today. One especially is something that some people have considered "problematic" over the years, which may be why the entire story isn't told too often; when the Maccabees first rose against their oppressors, the first thing they did was to kill all of their fellow Jews who were collaborating with them.

Definitely, today that is true. The left has embraced antisemitism. The only others are fringe white supremacists, who no one cares about because they are few and are largely powerless specks.

But the church does have a history of antisemitism, which thankfully, it seems we are largely over. (Except perhaps for progressive "churches".) It certainly contravened Scripture and was just another example of humans being sucky.

Merry Christmas, All.
I agree w/ CBD, so I'll (almost) borrow his words:

As a Jew, very few things make me happier about living in a Christian country than the Christmas season in America. I adore its religious meaning, the glorious music, the cheerful
lights and decorations, and the effort that so many people make to be happier and kinder and more invested in their fellow man
makes me smile.

Wishing everybody a Merry Christmas is a joy. And, if you say "Happy Holidays"
to me, I'll say Merry Christmas back.

275 Merry Christmas all!

Yeah, to libs (like most of my idiot family), life is always a zero-sum gain, no matter the topic. When I asked for any dietary adjustments for my annual holiday gift package, half of them minced, "Oh, donate to food bank instead", as if less of one means more for the other. I have the means to do both, and I have done so, my whole life. So in their view, wishing Merry Christmas means you DON'T wish them any other variety of holiday or seasonal joy.

Idiots.

For the record, I sent them all a holiday gift package, like I always do, AND upped my charitable contributions, like I always do, this time of year.

tubal, God put John's Gospel on my heart this morning. Been reading that between a couple of quick looks in here and a much needed, but probably too short, nap.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made.
In Him was life ; and the life was the light of men.

Verse 14 gives us His birth.

And yes, all who have Yeshua, the Messiah, living in their heart, have God who was born a man of the seed of Abraham, living in their heart.

336 There are different kinds of fear, i guess.

There is the fear of getting hurt, or punished, or of something going awry. Then there is the fear of the incomprehensible, the fear of disorientation, of not knowing what is going on.

I think the "Fear not" of divine/angelic manifestations is to allay the second kind. Almost like a nicer version of a Lovecraftian horror... to look directly upon the transcendent would have to be unsettling and shocking at first, unless you are pretty darn saintly yourself.

Local family. They got crushed when Wuhan Flu hit and the restaurants closed (big wholesale business). So I stopped buying seafood from anywhere else and spent my money there. They cut back on their employee's hours but gave everyone at least a few hours each week. I thought that was decent of them.

They seem to have recovered well, and their Christmas retail business is going well.

And they are really nice people. It was a pleasure doing my little bit to keep them around.

348 It's interesting trying to define the fear of God. I tend to think of it as an intense reverence, acknowledging the transcendence of God as well as his other attributes, and respecting his law, knowing he is the Judge.

If it meant cowering fear, I don't think we would have this in the Bible:

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Heb 4:16)

By the way, I have to say I am grateful for a place where we can also have theological discussions (which I enjoy) in the midst of other topics.

350 "If someone claims to be a Christian, yet, is anti-Semitic, there's a
problem, because we, as Christians, have been grafted into the vine."

the theology I hear behind that ... "he who hath the son hat life, he who hath not the son hath not life" ... or "no man comes to the Father but by me".

But that is a "spirit of sonship" special Christian thing, imo there is still a Resurrection of the Just (and of the unjust). So same rules apply, "Just Jews" today are in the good resurrection, same as OT rules/law, and that ain't bad. There are plenty of fake and/or secular Jews and Christians. My summary is that good people that don't truly, deep in the heart, become Christian, still can be in the Resurrection of the Just ... by being "just".

The boss and I have been planning a recon mission to various large Asian grocery stores specifically to check their seafood offerings. H Mart, the big Korean chain, had good-looking stuff, and they'd filet it for your fresh, but very limited offerings (red fish was the only type I was interested in).

Of course in the old days having a connection was the way to go - tuna fleet was based here, and other commercial fishing.

415 This is my favorite place to visit. I love the comments from so many of the regulars.
Merry Christmas to all of you, and hopefully this next year will be better for everyone.
Of course, there's the Bidening we will have to deal with...

The Left just recently tried to cancel him because he made some Politically Incorrect (eg : "not woke enough") drunken Twitter Posts.

420 Some of you may have seen it, the movie itself, but here is a nice trailer from 'The Nativity': https://tinyurl.com/y979wrc7

Some moving clips are used by Selah here, watch this, it's worth it:

Apparently the movie is available to by or rent on Youtube

illiniwek, you know I love you man but your @350 is not scriptural.

"I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me."

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."

God is too Holy to look upon sin, any sin.
That sin can only be washed away by the blood of His perfect Lamb.

423 Merry Christmas to you, too, CBD. From an observant Christian to a non-observant (I think) Jew, I'm glad you enjoy Christmas.
I'm writing from the People's Republic of California. We defied Gov. Gruesome and went to the land of fruits and nuts, as usual, to celebrate Christmas with extended family. Most of the extended family are die-hard left-wingers, but they, too, are sick and tired of Gruesome and his hypocrisy. (Just say "French Laundry" to my Mother-in-law!) We don't argue politics, and we get along great.

It seems like the Lin Wood tweets on 17DEC got little attention here. I saw it in the comments - I found them jaw-dropping:

'This may be the most important tweet of my life.

Chief Justice John Roberts is corrupt & should resign immediately. Justice Stephen Breyer should also resign immediately.

They are "anti-Trumpers dedicated to preventing public from knowing TRUTH of @realDonaldTrump re-election. ...

Posted by: President-Elect Optimizer at December 24, 2020 12:52 PM (hOOi9)

426 [continued]

... In discussing @realDonaldTrump in phone conversation in 8/19, Justice John Roberts stated the he would make sure "the mother f#*ker would never be re-elected."

Roberts engaged in phone conversations with Justice Stephen Breyer discussing how to work to get Trump voted out.'

Of course, Lin Wood has the GA election case before the SCOTUS. So he has no reason to just make stuff up, and bad-mouth two of the Justices on the SCOTUS. ...

...So he [Lin wood] has no reason to just make stuff up, and bad-mouth two of the Justices on the SCOTUS. Also, he is working with Sidney Powell, who describes him as a "good friend", and she has refernced what "military intelligence" has reported. In other words, Lin Wood has probably been given intel from the "white hats".

429 387 - Hey Debbie, what about people whose parents stopped breathing? Travel wasn't okay for them, you two faced, hypocrital lying C***. And your family suffered even though they had nothing to do with it? Take a number for that complaint, lady - plenty of people suffered worse who were not govt. employees. And who did the honest thing not the lying scumbag thing..

...At the same time, there's been a interesting hint from our new acting Defense Secretary, who was spoke briefly to VPOTUS at the end of an appearance he had for something else. He made reference to them having been through "some stuff", and to the most complex military operation this country has ever done, or something like that. The SecDef made a sudden departure right after the election, and that's when this guy came in. He was formerly in charge of counter-terrorism - spying on threats, foreign and domestic. ...

436 When I was young, I don't recall so much of this identity bullshit. My Dad was a jeweler part time. He learned watchmaking in WW2 for the many boring hours when their PBY's were flying Air/Sea Rescue over the Pacific. He was a craftsman who learned to make watch crystals from the canopies of destroyed Japanese airplanes. Anyway, because of his hobby, later in life many of his friends and contacts were Jewish. As a child growing up, all of them would wish our family a very Merry Christmas and in turn we would wish them a Happy Hanukkah.
