Fauci Won't Say if "Protests," Which He Admits Spread the Virus, Should be Limited, Though He Continues Advocating for Limiting Church-Going and Work

As Jim Jordan asks: By what authority do you favor one protected First Amendment activity, protesting, over another protected First Amendment activity, practicing your faith?

Easy answer: Because he's a leftwing Deep Stater and he knows his beloved Democrat Party has decided that the law does not apply to antifa.

This is hardly the first time Fauci has championed an activity favored by the transgressive left over activities favored by normal people, like going to church, going to family members' funerals, or going to work.

Back in April, Fauci, who was quite forward leaning on the need for people to isolate themselves and for businesses to close, said it was okay to arrange a near-anonymous sex hook-up from a dating website.

It's a risk, he said non-judgmentally, but it's "your choice."

Hmmm... is going to church also my choice?

Or is that strictly forbidden?

Toward the end of the taped segment, Fauci was asked: "If you're swiping on a dating app like Tinder, or Bumble or Grindr, and you match with someone that you think is hot, and you're just kind of like, 'Maybe it's fine if this one stranger comes over.' What do you say to that person?"

"You know that's tough," replied the befuddled National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director to the curveball. "Because that's what's called relative risk."

Then he dropped the bombshell. "If you're willing to take a risk -- and you know, everybody has their own tolerance for risks -- you could figure out if you want to meet somebody," said Fauci, who was named a candidate for People magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" award.

He added, "If you want to go a little bit more intimate, well, then that's your choice regarding a risk."

So let's recap:

Going to Work: FORBIDDEN

Going to Church: FORBIDDEN

Going to School: FORBIDDEN

Protesting: "Your choice"

Rioting: "Your choice"

Throwing your corrupt piss at cops: "Your choice"

Random sex hook-ups with strangers: "Your choice"

Going to Funerals: FORBIDDEN

Wait, did I say that going to funerals was forbidden?

My mistake: Funerals are forbidden for anyone who is not a member of the Ruling Class.

Of course members of the Permanent Government can pack themselves into small indoor spaces for a funeral.

Meanwhile, one of St. George's funerals was in Texas, with a gold casket on a horse-drawn carriage.

I guess my uncle's military service and years of hard work to support his family don't measure up to the stellar life of St. George.

22 This is why I don't get the support that lockdowns, mask mandates, etc. are receiving. I get it that I am not in the mainstream ideology. I get it that most people are not like me and that most people not only don't view any official position with distrust, many do not even view official positions with skepticism.

But these contradictions are out and loud and blunt and are not concealed at all. These double rules that they have for the 'Rona aren't subtle. And they can't be reconciled. They are directly contradictory and they make no effort to hide it. Given that, I simply don't understand why there is such broad-spectrum support for their restrictions.

The only answer I can come up with is that the people who are supporting this *want* it. Whatever pejorative you use for these people - wine moms, Karen, whatever - it appears that they are in the majority. And that is why I think this is hopeless and will be semi-permanent to some degree. Too many people don't care about the paper-thin justifications or contradictions. They crave the boot.

I wouldn't be surprised if Fauci was a pedo island hopper either.

Dershowitz always sounded guilty (to me) and his allegiance towards the Clinton and his fence sitting always disturbed me. Now we know why. He wasn't being "faithful" to the Clinton's although there might have been some of that but he was being blackmailed by the Clinton mafia. He knew he had to always justify what he thought the law was with high praise and his "support" for the Clinton's - and ongoing support he would always claim.

Fauci sounds just like the good little soldier Dersh was.

Sick people.

The theatrically, even comically capricious and unserious stuff, like Whitmer blocking off the gardening section of Walmarts, the toleration of enormous public events vs. shredding of the First Amendment* to prevent religious gatherings, on and on.

For those wondering if there'd be events to test whether "it's dead, Jim" (the American civic culture), hard to see how there could be a more clear test. We'll see soon enough.

I dare Fauci, Redfield, Birx, any of them, to attempt to answer that question. There is no answer.

Also, did anyone bother to ask Fauci to provide in documentary form the "evidence" indicating any value to masks? And also to comment on the CDC-sponsored meta-study from just 2 months ago that - once again - concluded no measurable benefit for control of ILIs has been established?

Let me guess.

The narrative is that the rise in cases has been in red states where deplorables ignored the mask mandate and infected each other while doing deplorable stuff with their trucks and guns and mouths. They were told how to behave but they're willful, and so Trump voters are why we can't have nice things.

The unofficial reason is that those politicians slow on the boodling now realize that inflating the numbers means more cheese from Uncle Sam, so we now have a COVID "6/5ths compromise," wherein a COVID death is actually counted as 1.37 deaths.

This has been answered on here numerous times. Yes mosques have been shut down. The same rules that apply to Christian churches have been applied to mosques and to temples. For the most part, it's been Christian churches that have been fighting this, hence the reason they are on the news and then the leap to assume only churches are being ordered closed. It's not just them, or Coronavirus. Trump is a media guy, and he plays them effectively. It's a tactic he uses, and not always well, but usually he does.

If I were President, I'd point out on Day 1 of my administration that we're in the digital age, and commit 100% of my remaining campaign war-chest to scaling out my campaign website as a mass-streaming platform, because I don't need the wretched press men anymore in this brave new world.

And that the media are free to tune in to my great new site and hear what myself and my spokesman have to say, just like every other schlub, and then write their hateful screeds based on that.

No more questions and no more answers for the press. WYSIWYG.

If I wanted transparency with the public we could do a Preezy YD Hangout, and I can answer questions from citizens with real jobs.

Trends over Time

Suicide rate is based on the number of people who have died by suicide per 100,000 population. Because changes in population size are taken into account, rates allow for comparisons from one year to the next.
Figure 1 shows the age-adjusted suicide rates in the United States for each year from 2001 through 2017 for the total population, and for males and females presented separately.
During that 16-year period, the total suicide rate increased 31% from 10.7 to 14.0 per 100,000.
The suicide rate among males remained nearly four times higher (22.4 per 100,000 in 2017) than among females (6.1 per 100,000 in 2017).

The neighbor, his mother, was the responsible party. Hospital personnel told her she could pay or they could write it up as a COVID death and she'd be off the hook. Guess what she chose.

Posted by: Painting the Corners at July 31, 2020 01:27 PM (KYJZD)

Can you imagine the squalling if Trump removed Fauci? Fauci is still the director of the National Institute of Allergies and infectious Diseases which is part of National Institute of Health, which is part of Health and Human Services of the US Government.

How do you remove this guy from your task force which itself is directed to reduce INFECTIONS from an infectious disease that has emerged in the USA? If he's not on the task force, he's still running a part of the government involved in developing protocol, treatments, and preventions against infectious diseases. Which reports to the task force and the task force takes direction from?

I keep reading on here , especially this morning, how people seem to think Mike Pence plucked Tony Fauci out of thin air to work on this task force. Like the guy was in his garage, working on building model airplanes, and Pence called him and asked if he would want to be on a task force because the guy had some experience with diseases 30 years ago.

This guy IS your Government salaried , could never be fired until he retires, head of infectious disease research power broker. The only choice was to have him on the task force.

Birx was a colonel in the US Army and worked as a physician at Walter Reed, then became a lab director for Reed's Immunology Department , specializing in HIV research with Fauci at his lab. She left and worked at the NIH in their HIV research for a vaccine, then returned to Walter Reed to continue work on the retroviral and HIV research Reed was doing on HIV.

She then went to the CDC and became a director there until Obama nominated her to become a global HIV Ambassador and director of the US Global effort against HIV. Trump continued that role for her until she was asked to join the task force.

She worked in vaccine and immunology almost her entire professional career for the government, including 9 years at the CDC.

And you are going to dump her off the task force?

My 86 year old Mom has been locked away in her little 2BR assisted living apartment since April. I've only been able to visit her with my daughter once, back in May, and we had to sit out on the back deck and talk to her through the screen door. They aren't even allowing that any longer.

Mom is incredibly depressed right now. All I can do is call her and talk frequently. It's tough not to lose it at this kind of abuse.

Posted by: California at July 31, 2020 01:56 PM (786Ro)

237 The first stuff they told us: wash your hands, avoid sick people, stay home if you are ill, don't go near the vulnerable when you are not feeling well... all that was just flat out ordinary logic. Its all that had to be done.

But none of that resulted in sufficient power or damage to the economy and more had to be done!

So they trotted out this "fifteen days to flatten the curve" thing that locked down the economy, sent everyone home, and we were saving our HEROIC FRONT LIKE HEALTH CARE WORKERS who got so little work they started doing goofy Tik Tok videos because hospitals were nearly shut down to everything EXCEPT the virus.

But that wasn't enough, because 15 days won't destroy the economy or give sufficient emergency power to state and local authorities. So the lockdown continued on, and on, and on, and on.

Now its August and we're still largely locked down, and they are telling us to wear more and more protective gear while flatly ignoring those commands themselves.

And while the testing is giving us huge infected numbers (according to the CDC more than half false), the actual hospitalizations and deaths are significantly lower than ever, and even THAT is being used to tell us to lock down and terrify us more.

"Don't accidentally kill someone this summer! Wear a mask!"

This is so transparently fake and manufactured, but here we are, sheepishly going along, and the president has to go along as well or seem like a lunatic who cares nothing about our health.

Voting patterns over the last few month seem to indicate that people aren't taking the Democrats' efforts to undermine the economy out in the open.

From CA-25 to NY-27 to that Virginia county that voted Republican for local elections for the first time in its entire history to Trump's historic numbers in primaries, the people seem to be telling the world that they don't like Democrats right now.

But, the media, which is little different from the Democratic Party, isn't letting that message out. Weird, huh?

Such a weed as Fauci gives that kind of lukewarm answer.

I wouldn't bet on it. I think the Portland and Seattle city governments pretty accurately reflect the mindsets of a voting majority of the residents.

What they really don't foresee is that, once they've "defunded" the police and the Cartels and anyone similar have moved in and taken over, it's going to be virtually impossible to change course and return to where they were. But yeah, I really doubt the people are all that excited about the chaos of the last few months, and I really doubt they blame the guy who marked China as an enemy before he even entered office for it.

Also, it's mostly Democratic enclaves that are going the most nuts. That means that Democrats are primarily targeting other Democrats for the pain that's supposed to be visited upon Trump. This feels unwise.

314 The public health folks have long been part of the deep state complete with platonic noble lies, mission creep, and so on.

See salt restrictions, aids contact tracing, health outcome based on ses, and so on. Much of public health is not actually studying health per se but rather government policy that allegedly impacts health.

Most of the antique quarantine laws were written during the Progressive era where the rule of the expert was a foregone conclusion but with the power dispersed throughout the states and local governments. In truth, the federal government, aside from travel to and from other countries, etc. is largely in a supporting role of being sugar daddy and advisor just like responses to earthquakes, floods, tornadoes, and hurricanes.

So the stage is set for power crazed local and state pols to run amuck on pointless restrictions based on pop fads and politics.
While Fauci and Birx may add fuel to the fire, the major blameworthy pols are state and local officials and the ones that voted and support them.

The federal courts due to a variety of doctrines such as deference to administrative agencies, the difficulty in using the equal protection clause outside of protected groups, and the denigration of economic and property rights for nearly one century have more or less taken themselves out of the game. Most judges are challenged due to incapacity when dealing with science or mathematics anyway due to the career in law that they chose and the mere presentation of experts on two sides does not guarantee a correct decision on what restrictions are actually useful in reducing risk to society in epidemics. So the easy path for judges to rule is simply to accept the govt experts over those of the plaintiffs because the plaintiffs have the burden of proof in most cases.

Yeah I don't get the reverence and praise for Cuomo. He
-had more deaths than any other state
-specifically stated the virus was no danger, and went out marching with Chinese people to prove he wasn't racist and didn't fear the disease
-then when people started dying, deliberately put ill elderly in nursing homes to murder them all
-claimed he needed a bazillion ventilators when he had thousands in storage
-screamed about needing extra hospital ships to handle the case load then barely even looked at them and complained when they arrived
-refused to even consider shutting down or social distance subway cars
-didn't have the subways cleaned or disinfected until nearly a month after the deaths piled up

He's like a poster child for what NOT to do and how to be as wrong as possible.

327 Regarding Biden's VP choice, a lot of this is going to be driven by different factions of the Dems fighting over the future of the party, perhaps not even primarily political considerations given Biden's health decline. Each faction wants their "person" to be the no. 2 because of a) control over the party's future direction, grift control, and power in the party and b) the chance of their favored VP candidate getting the main job and running as incumbent. A VP could quite possibly serve as much as 11 years as president if Joe dies or is replaced soon after a win just as Johnson could have served from 1963 until 1972 if his popularity held out.
