31 I like this, there's a lot going on. He's wrapped up in the evening paper. Stock market reports, horse races? It has his attention. The beer and coffee on the table aren't even where he can reach them while he reads.

She's looking at him, it seems.

The place is not crowded. White hat, whom we half see, is outside on the pavement. Waiter is seen in reflection, bringing a flute of champagne. Maybe she's looking at the waiter and not our punter.

89 This painting doesn't appeal to me. It has a large 'so what' sense. Do I care about the static figures? No. Is there anything to note about the color scheme? No. The delineation of the furniture, windows and railing are OK but the colors are dull. My biggest problem is with the chandelier. It is just a blob of brightness that I find distracting. It's in the room, not shrouded by for or evening mist.

I'm not the biggest fan of Impressionism but the inconsistent use of the style in this painting is annoying.

Maybe I just need more coffee this morning.

I learned a thing from my very smart professor who wrote a book on the thing. I don't understand it, but the prof is very smart, therefore I believe it.

Now I am telling you the thing. You understand that I am very smart and educated, and i just gave you the bonafides of my learning, therefore you must now believe the thing and tell others.

"I don't believe the thing based on XYZ"

I just told you how smart my professor is, you know how smart I am, you must believe the thing!

"No, i have a different opinion"

The only reason you won't believe the thing is either because you are too stupid to understand how smart my professor and I are, or you are a dangerous person acting out of racism and bigotry. Either way you must be silenced before you spread your ideas to others.

If you look up pictures of Benningfield, the resemblance between the two is uncanny. Benningfield was abused as a child and many of the band's songs allude to his past abuse. And the symbol of the band is similar to one the FBI has identified signifying man-boy love.

I wonder how many people realize that is pure Religious Zealotry? It is the same thing as saying, Thus says the Koran, Thus taught Mohammed, all who do not believe are Infidels and must be killed.

The great innovation of Western Civilization was to allow independent Intellectual thought and analysis to coexist with religious thought, with religious beliefs prevalent in terms of morality and Intellectual thought processes (ie, science and logic) dominant in relation to this world.

This new religion is throwing all of that away, and going to back to all of the excesses of the most fanatical zealotry of the past.

The Vatican kowtows to the Americans. It comes down to money. America doesn't have that many Catholics, but they set a lot of policy. Only 22% of Catholics are Americans, but they have seriously outsized power in Rome. Great example: annulments. There is, of course, no such thing as Catholic divorce (ending a marriage) but there are annulments (the marriage never really existed).

America - with her 22% of Catholics - receives 70% of the annulments.

American Church behavior is extremely important to the Church, despite the minority position. I know the Pope isn't an American (and likely never will be), but if our Catholics are on board with the policies, the policies will likely stand.

display of zeal for the regime to make it inconceivable that the regime
one served so ardently would betray such ardor."

The Karens have a OCD level scrupulosity problem ... but they project it onto everyone else. Their PC Religion requires devotion and evangelism. For the non soccer moms in the faith, it requires violence, destruction, and loud hate.

One of the greatest modern day Catholics, Cardinal Arinze, is black. He was the Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments under Pope Benedict XVI. He was known as " The Rottweiler of God's Rottweiler" because of his adherence to doctrine and morality. That position is now held by Cardinal Sarah, also black. Sarah has been, up to now, as great as Arinze, but he just faltered with his distancing himself from Vigano's recent letter denouncing the politicization of the corona virus. I hope church politics do not get to Cardinal Sarah.

My county down here has a ChiCom Wu-flu dashboard that shows some stats. 34 deaths and 435 hospitalizations since the middle of March. Population 470K.

And now we can't buy groceries unless we have a mask. And what this is doing to the population at large is nothing less than mind-crime. Treating everyone as though they're carrying the Black Plague when it's not happening: no touching or smiling, no joking. Everybody's in a pissed-off mood all the time now.

This shit needs to end sooner rather than later.

I read a newsletter from a reputable place where people are taught the art of doctoring firmly said that covid deaths are understated by 1/3..... So yeah.. there are no numbers that can be trusted anywhere.
What I would like to see is a line chart over time since January of all deaths by their attribution. Are more people dying than any other year, or are they dying from covid and other things are trailing off. Gee we had no pneumonia deaths this year.... what happened did we cure pneumonia?
