Saturday Morning Coffee Break

6620coffe.jpg

***

Mornin' Morons. Coffee time. Black and bitter like my soul.

The rules? Opine away or bloviate. Whatever trips your trigger. Just remember no running with sharp objects, don't pull the 'ettes hair and be nice to one another.

If you are in a metro area where the lawlessness is taking place. Be safe and keep your head on a swivel.

Have a great weekend!!

Exterminators are coming out to deal with the gophers which are destroying the front yard, and the rats which infiltrated into the basement. 45 One other point about the nooded JJ/Krakatoa threads.

Remember that this country is largely made up of people who saw their own homelands as going bad. And most seem to lack sympathy for those countries they left.

I've never been one of those, myself, but I do understand it.

Relatedly, it's a mistake to let your mind be led by your natural heartfelt reaction. At least, not as such; it can be a sign that your thinking was off somewhere. That works only if your emotions and appetites have already been so well trained as to be trustworthy. And no one meets that test, at least not until they're in heaven.

54 oh gawd, the moron on Fox just mentioned the "Boogaloo movement".

I remember my freshman year in college, at the end of the first semester there was a dorm party that ended up in a floor by floor battle fought with trash cans full of water leaned against the elevator doors - yeah, things got out of hand and of course, lots and lots of alcohol was involved. Things looked bad when the campus cops showed up and charged in, threatening to arrest everyone involved. But just at that moment, someone noticed that they had jumped out of their car but left it running, and I still remember the look on their faces (we were all in the lobby) when someone said "Hey Look! There goes your car!!" Comedy Gold!!!

So anyway, they never caught who did it (I think I found out who it was a couple years later, someone I knew) but we still wanted to mess with them, so we started to float rumors that we had heard about the BuFu Liberation Army, that was dedicated to causing all kinds of trouble. And there were some of those official clowns who just ate that shit up.

One of my (our) crowning moments in that early life was when I actually saw in print that the local police were investigating the rumors they had heard of the dangerous BuFu Liberation Army.

In the US that is generally done administratively through the Sheriff's department. For city and transit taxes it is either handled through the city DA's office and state taxing authority, or Sheriff, though I believe some are handled only at the city level like parking tickets. Even then, there is a tendency to hand collection over to a third party like private collections or the state. Some polities will also move to have your driver's license pulled for debt.

If you don't pay your property taxes, the county works up a writ of sort, and sends it to you. Locally, if there is timber on it, the county will log it for you for revenue, but if you don't comply the Sheriff will seize and action the property.

As for the rest, the tax collector going around to collect money directly (except in Oregon with the Pot tax!) doesn't happen without the Sheriff showing up.

I must be feeling better, I grow prolix.

94 Thinking about the Abolish the Police idea. I think what they are really calling for is a destruction of western culture law, order, and rights.

The left has lost many arguments over the last 10 to 12 years. They realize that many people vote with the pockets and checkbooks when given the chance at a job, a home, and a life.

I think many of the left desire a no decisions, no pains, and no rules life. When given the choice of freedom and right or a big progressive government that frees them self-control required to live a productive life they choose the Big Govt.

And with this idea they also think that this Big Govt will leave THEM alone.

Men hired for sexual fantasy break into wrong house

In a sex fantasy gone wrong, two men with machetes entered the wrong house in New South Wales, Australia, before quickly realising their error.

One of them has now been acquitted of entering a home armed with a weapon in July 2019, Australian media report.

They had been hired to carry out a client's fantasy of being tied up in his underwear and stroked with a broom.

97 27 Despite the lefts recent efforts to paint Trump as a racist and blame him for police brutality and the riots, Rasmussen Reports says that approval for President Trump amongst likely black voters is now over 40 percent.

Trump received 8 percent of the African American vote in 2016. In August 2019, black voter approval for Trump stood at 26 percent.

Something to chew on
Posted by: Nevergiveup at June 06, 2020 10:29 AM (85Gof)

Call me racist, but black democrats in my opinion seem to be more Christian than white democrats. Most of the best arguments I've seen on twitter have been by black conservative Christians who think the entire argument of "oppressed" is bullshit. They don't want to be labeled as helpless in need of white saviors.

Obviously they are then attacked by crazed white liberals condescending to them. Talk about white privilege.

The white liberals are increasingly gross. Atheist, pro-sex, pro-drugs, pro-everything. Pro communism. Anti-America.

Republicans do better with people who have family values and black Christians believe in family values as much as anybody. They might not trust the cops, but that simply leads to a distrust in government. Trump's message matches this.

I am not surprised to see such high support. White liberals assume minorities vote 100% for democrats but it simply isn't the case and there's plenty of room to grow in terms of gaining those votes.

A poor black neighborhood in the middle of an affluent white liberal city has more in common with a backwoods white small town in Arkansas than they do with rich white Antifa terrorist wannabes.

This only deepens that divide. They are not blind.

As anecdotal evidence, in the latest Dave Chapelle special that I watched, black comedians are the only ones still willing to make jokes about how absurd gay people are, for one example. He's also pro-gun because he doesn't want crazed drug addicts breaking into his home. And he doesn't trust the cops to show up to help him and they wouldn't make it in time anyway. He's a wealthier black celebrity type but it still makes sense to me.

It's increasingly difficult to paint a pretty picture of how helpful democrats are and how evil Republicans are.

Hopefully the trend continues.

Never liked Crump, but what makes him worse than just a shakedown artists is that his rhetoric is always HOT.

If he was merely seeking "justice" for the family--and a huge payout for them and himself--he would already have a very strong case to get both justice and money.

Chauvin worked there too. It's up for debate if he was part of the skeeve or monitoring it, but he's donk so probably part of the problem.

With a record like Floyd's he was not going to get a bank teller job, or even a cashier. He made his life a mess and is no hero, but his death has helped his family in ways his life never would (unless he stopped with drugs, but he wasn't going to. He found a job where that was no problem).

176 As a company, we have paused over the last few days to deeply consider how to best engage on issues of systemic racism in our country. Those internal conversations revealed the following:

We must stand: Acts of racism and injustice have no place in our society. To our Black brothers and sisters who are suffering, pleading, and grieving - unequivocally, your lives matter.

We must engage: Our Manifesto calls us to listen and learn from others, which right now means dedicating time and resources to fight widespread racism. That work begins within our own company and through the Magnolia Bridge Building initiative with the implementation of diversity and inclusion training for all employees, creation of a Race Relations listening series and participation in Racial Equity Institute workshops for all our leadership.

We must act: We believe our work must start in our own community. Magnolia is donating a total of $100,000 locally to the Waco NAACP and the Waco Community Race Relations Coalition and a total of $100,000 nationally to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and Race Forward.

We invite you to join: Any gift made to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund or Race Forward will be matched by Magnolia up to $100,000 total.

There is much work to be done, and we are eager to walk forward in humility, with open hands and hearts.

- The Magnolia Family

195 Willowed:

Eh, here's the problem.

We're all basically Middle and Working Class folks.

We have loads of self-discipline. We plan our lives to the best of our ability. We obey the law, stay out of trouble, and generally avoid those who cause trouble. We get married to have our kids and try to provide a stable home for our mates and kids to live in.

No wonder the Democrats/Commies hate us.

We absolutely do not need them. At. All.

All they can do "for" us is take our "disposable income" and our freedoms away.

They offer us less than nothing.

IMHO, anyone who is Middle or Working Class and votes Democrat is functionally insane.

However -

for the Middle and Working class lifestyle to work,

we need Law and Order.

We need a stable society and the continuity of shared cultural values.

This is why we fail.

Our lives and it's accoutrements - good jobs, good home, good family, safe streets depend on our obey the law instincts.

We are the last ones who will ever violently revolt, even when it's necessary. The dead last. Because it means throwing away the behavior which makes our lives good.

This is the reason for the current violence. It's yet another effort to break the Middle and Working Classes, most specifically the Black Middle and Working Classes.

Yep, BLM, headed by VanillaISIS, a Fake Black Man ,is burning, destroying and looting Black Businesses and Homes first...

...Imagine that.

It's simply part and parcel with Oblabla's effort to destroy the Middle and Working Classes.

If the Middle and Working Classes ever do organize to their benefit,

then miracles can happen because - we do plan, we do carry out our plans, we are deadly serious when it comes to our families and our lives.

Think of the election of Donald Trump.

That was but a mere twitch of the Middle and Working Classes organizing to protect their own interests.

And it worked.

Think what could happen if we truly worked to protect our civil society at the ballot box and locally.

Or are we going to become Venezuela?

Cuz that's all the Democrats/Commies offer us - look at the burning blue cities where they run things.

Happy 76th Anniversary of D-Day, American cousins.

If it's any consolation, things are going to sh*t just as quickly on this side of the pond and for exactly the same reasons.

We haven't got BLM devastation in our city centres yet, but from the fifteenth of June our increasingly insane govt is going to make the wearing of masks on public transport mandatory, even if the mask is something we made at home out of "easily available household materials" (Actual quote from the Minister of Lunacy).

Yep, you can be fined if you're not wearing a mask on the train. But if it's one your six year old made out of egg cartons and scotch tape and has no preventative effect whatsoever? No problem! Carry on, Citizen! Well done!

Effing madness. Effing, blinding madness.

It is like blackmail. If you don;t bow down to our demands, we will loot

is just stomach turning. I worked for everything I've earned in my life
time and as a woman and a Jew never thought that was according me any
special privelege and in fact that if anything were things I had to
overcome.
There are black athletes, entertainers, politicians who
are rich and influential. White privelege certainly didn;t hold them
back.
It is poverty that is the problem created by generations of
blue state politicians treating their constituents like subjects. It is a
problem in both the white and black community leading to drugs, single
parent families and joblessness. Burning down your neighborhood doesn;t
help but only makes things worse.

227 FFS, *German* kickball players wearing racist, er, BLM arm-bands??

Well, perfect, I guess.

"Gleichschaltung"

Plain meaning, just "coordination".

But, I think, a very very apt, a sickeningly apt, analogy to what people here are talking about - every entity organization brand corporation etc. in a society singing the identical tune. Especially, as in this case, a dishonest, pernicious one.

In Nazi Germany, the term was used to describe how - not all at once, and not always in the same manner - all aspects of society were compelled to adopt the Nazi approach to all matters of consequence. The analogy is so sickeningly apt because, unlike the USSR or other fairly insane totalitarian states, in 1930s Germany - and 2020 America - the forced conformity to one official group-think is being applied to a fairly free and diverse society with a history and pattern of freedom of thought.

Unlike Nazi Germany, we don't have a ruthless centralized power at the top of govt. enforcing this on the society. No, almost *worse*, it's major parts of society doing it to the rest.

Floyd was a dirtbag whose death will be investigated and those involved tried in a court of law, and represents zero trend or pattern of any kind in current law enforcement - WRT "race". The only systemic racism in the the society is found in the warped power of govt. (affirmative action/similar discrimination), and in the racist animus of academia, media, pop culture - 100% of it against the white majority.

But Gleichschaltung has razor blade companies and online recipe and photo sites and elected officials and every entity you can name reciting the toxic, baseless implicit slander that racism against black Americans is widespread, and an important factor.

I think it's the pernicious effect of online culture - most people and every corp now thinks they must have an online "Presence", and anyone who deviates from the Accepted Groupthink is labeled UNLCEAN! UNCLEAN!!! by millions.

I think, and this is a shame, that the first step toward being independent, for individuals and for corporations, is to cut all Social Media contacts - save for a few closely trusted and carefully vetted friends. It means rejecting the dominant culture completely, and removing yourself from it.

------

I personally thought Philandro Castile was a better symbol of police brutality.

He was the black man pulled over for a tail light beef, and then shot when he produced his carry permit, and supposedly touched his carry piece. It happened in Falcon Heights, a Saint Paul Minnesota suburb that has the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. Philandro worked in a cafeteria for the Saint Paul School District.

Rumor is the cop briefly saw him, and suspected he was an armed robbery suspect they were seeking. There were no body cameras in use, and the dash cam didn't show much.

The cop was suspended a brief time, and then brought back, outrage ensued and was suspended again. There were mild protests, including blocking the freeway, I-94 between the Twin Cities.

Oh, BTW, the Police officer was charged with murder, tried, and found not guilty. The defense played up the drug angle to develop reasonable doubt. Chauvin's lawyer will definitely do the same.

The other great Minnesota Police misconduct shooting was of Justine Damond, but since she was an unarmed pajama clad white woman, and the police officer was Somali, no major riots ensued.

260 @21: "Who will they send to collect the property tax if homeowners and businesses refuse to pay? Which they should, because one main reason people pay property tax is to fund emergency services."

Interestingly enough, Minneapolis is gonna be facing a weird tax situation in the next few years. We don't have the kinda corporate and retail tax revenues that cities this size are "supposed" to have. City council president said we're a "city center" without an adequate city center.

That's only gonna get worse in the short term as old business either refuse to rebuild or drag their feet waiting rescue grants, and new business think twice about settling in Minneapolis proper.

So, tax burden is gonna slowly shift more and more towards property and sales taxes, and for all this "defund the police" nonsense, the city council really wants to expand spending in the public safety sector.

More mental health professionals to serve on scene during domestic violence and public disturbance calls. Unarmed, non-professional, but somehow official neighborhood watch types to handle non-violent complaints. They don't want a smaller police state, just a different, more "peaceful" and "just" state that necessarily requires more employees, and greater oversight.

All of them have got an out because it's against the law to interfere with a Police Officer carrying out his duties, so they were legally restricted from doing anything. The other cops, however, had a duty of care in the situation, and saying "well he was more senior" is not going to cut it with a jury, I think.

mn and I discussed this a little last night. I agree that there are some technical points to be made for Chauvin; however, I think that in today's America, it's absolutely impossible for him to get what we used to call a "fair trial" anywhere in Minnesota. All 4 of them are going to be treated to a judicial lynching, and none of them are worth sticking our necks out for. But at least we won't have to worry about any riots when they're "acquitted", because the fixx is already in on this one.

Yup. When the DA upped the charge to 2nd degree murder, that's the "fix" right there.

2nd degree murder, IIRC, is is intent to murder without premeditation.

Which means the DA is going to have to prove that the cop intended to murder Floyd while using an approved by MN law takedown and restraint technique.

Unlikely, short of a judicial lynching.

3rd degree would be an easy conviction and at least the scumbag cop would be punished.

On the plus side for us, this is their greatest weakness. They have no idea what they want, other than to Act Out. I believe the whole "Abolish the Police!!!" idea turned up because no one had any real ideas at all, so the worst radicals popped up and said "Hey We have an Idea!!!" Which is why the entire movement is now literally insane.

That's also why this will not have anything like the staying power of the 1968 summer of protests. That year, everything was driven by the weekly death totals of the Vietnam War, and as that war dragged on and on, the riots dragged on and on. That was the fuel for that fire.

292 I was checking out real estate in other states last night. For my two bedroom California home I could get a six bedroom mansion in Wyoming. The problem is it's a race against time. I don't want to leave before my daughter graduates high school in two years and by then the real estate market in California will probably have a big correction as whites flee the state.

Kids survive relocation from one school to another all the time. And with schools having been shut down for the WuFlu Panic, there's no better time to move than now. Besides, with the money you make on the sale in CA, you could probably afford to put her in a good private school for two years, where she won't get indoctrinated in Cultural Marxism.

Breville ($300) makes the best of class in the same category. You can swap out their filter basket for any pour over hardware under the drip head, and you can program temp and flow rate with ridiculous precision.

------

If it wasn't for the Twin Cities, Minnesota would be redder than Texas.

We lost two House seats in the cities in 2018, but we picked up two out state seats to make it even. We elected a Republican on the old time Democrat Iron Range, and are electing Republicans to the state house in the same district.

If the outnumbered Republicans in the cities would get off their asses and vote in their local races, they would still lose, but we might reduce the Democrat margin enough to win the state wide races.

In Minneapolis, the Republican Party doesn't even run a candidate for mayor or most council seats, that is how dysfunctional it is.

Don't blame us in the out state areas, we almost elected Trump in 2016. Since I moved here, I helped get John Kline elected, and when I moved kept Michelle Bachmann in office and elected Tom Emmer to replace her.

353 Then he said the firm was going to do a complete audit of the entire supply chain and if any supplier or employee is in the "wrong side of the issue" they will no longer do business with them.

If that was a publicly owned company, that would be a gigantic red flag with "SELL NOW" on it.

But OTOH, if that company wants to sink itself, it can.

Operator: "311 What are you whining about today?"

Karen: "I want to speak to your supervisor about the loud music and noise going on next door. Its after midnight and its only getting worse"

Narrator: [The neighbor's have left town for a week, and their 20-something simp offspring has staged a BLM party next door, lots of thugs, drugs, alcohol and obnoxious behavior]

Operator Supervisor: "This is the 311 Supervisor, sorry for the delay, I just had to fire that worthless fool who answer your call. Would you want me to do more?"

Karen: "Yes. I demand that you have someone come over here immediately, shut down that party and have everyone arrested."

Operator Supervisor: "I'm sorry we no longer perform those services for mere parties, but if the noise was due to a Bible Study, we do have outside contractors that will subdue them to your satisfaction."

Karen: "Whatever. You need to act now."

Operator Supervisor: "We will send counselors over immediately with cookies to ask them to be more considerate of others."

Narrator: [Unfortunately, the 311 Community Outreach Center sent over counselors armed with essential oils and a gender studies doctorate. A few screams and shouts were heard along with beatings and pleadings... The noise only got louder until they set Karen's house on fire in retaliation for suppressing their Rights to be Heard.]

I can't fuss with that, but the Prog/Dem mayors who told their police departments to stand down on the first night of riots bear the most responsibility.

They could have nipped these riots in the bud, yet they refused to do so. This pattern of behavior is becoming all too common in blue-run cities and needs to stop immediately.

This! See my comments in the first two posts of the day.

They had the model of how to stop this.

It is the same as what President Trump was saying, but if they wanted to stop the looting riots and arson, they could have pointed at what DEMOCRAT Governor Walz did.

Call out all the National Guard and all the State LEO, overwhelm the riots. No one died, no one got killed by the police.

They could have raised Governor Walz image nation wide, and had a great replacement for senile rapist Joe the Groper Biden.

364 If the outnumbered Republicans in the cities would get off their asses and vote in their local races, they would still lose, but we might reduce the Democrat margin enough to win the state wide races.

In Minneapolis, the Republican Party doesn't even run a candidate for mayor or most council seats, that is how dysfunctional it is.

Although I hate to take Failure Theater off the hook, it's kind of asymmetrical warfare in that conservatives naturally recoil from the idea of public service instead of doing something more useful where libs live for this deadbeat shit. That's why Trump is such a throwback to noblesse obligee at the end of a successful business career with tons of fuck you money. It would drive the NTs even more insane than usual to hear this but I think he's closer to the Founders ideal of a President than any of the Uniparty careerists.

367 Something a lot of folks don't know but frequent flyer criminals always, always start complaining of this or that as they're being arrested.

Especially druggies. It's the cuffs too tight, you hurt my wrist, arm shoulder, ankle, leg, knee. I didn't do anything. What are you arresting me for, etcetera, etcetera.

Cops start to tune it out with experience. It's like a whiny child; you pretty much ignore it like a mosquito and don't pay much attention cause you're busy taking care of business.

And that's why exclamations of "I can't breathe" "get off my chest, neck, head, are ignored if they're heard at all.

During an arrest they must secure the suspect. That's MUST they can be hurt or killed or lose their job if they do not perform to the rules so they tend to focus on what they have to do. Resistance and yelling and such just make it harder and so they ignore it and suppress whatever is holding things up.

Granted some cops can be real bullies about it. Sadists a lot of them. Some are getting their own back for some injury or trouble they've had before so they take delight in making the process painful and stressful. Plus most of the folks they come in contact with are repeaters and are high on something. They act like dirtbags so they get treated like dirtbags.

Not an excuse. The problem is in the training. We should have a national training system for all cops. To be a police officer all cops should have to get a license from an accredited institute that they have been trained to a universal approved standard.

Then the individual LE org that wants to hire them can add to that with their own special requirements.

And there needs to be some weeding out of abusive people and there needs to be some attitude adjustments on how a peace officer should interact with citizens.

The first thing should be that everyone they meet is a citizen. Even suspects. The only people they can treat a little badly are escaped felons.

And that's tough considering the sewer most cops spend their day in 365. People suck.

Anyway none of what I've said will ever take place. Reasonable or rational thought and ideas are always trumped by politics and money.

368 Donna&&&&&&&V ,
I think Ellison is throwing it. In MN 2nd degree murder requires intent to kill. The jury will find not guilty and the roots will start all over again. Then Ellison and Omar-Nur will have their Sharia law enforced by Somali vice squads.

----

It is too early for any surety, but I think he will do better, and even win.

There are no Trump Voters that will vote Democrat, even for centrist and senile Joe.

There were a lot of Democrats that didn't vote for Felonia von Pantsuit last time. They did come out in 2018, and Ilhan Omar took her district by over 50 points (70 something to 20 something). They beat RINO NeverTrumper Erik Paulsen and newcomer Jason Lewis in the suburbs. But we took two Democrat House seats in the outstate area.

I think the rioters and the fumbling by the mayors and the Governor really opened eyes. I think their incompetence will hurt the Democrats. But Walz may have overcome that by his decisive actions after he got his ass handed to him by the rioters and arsonists on Friday night May 29.

If the Democrat ticket includes a Minnesotan, Trump will lose Minnesota, just like Ronald Reagan did.

Posted by: rd at June 06, 2020 12:17 PM (+0uDE)

371 Don't blame us in the out state areas, we almost elected Trump in 2016. Since I moved here, I helped get John Kline elected, and when I moved kept Michelle Bachmann in office and elected Tom Emmer to replace her.

Posted by: CN at June 06, 2020 12:18 PM (ONvIw)

374 @368: " In MN 2nd degree murder requires intent to kill."

No, it doesn't.

There are two categories of 2nd degree in MN: intentional, for things like drive by shootings were targets were indiscriminate, but the act itself was deliberate; two, unintentional, meaning homicide in the commission of another felony.

Ellison is pursuing the latter based on the knee-to-neck restraint being felony assault.

387 So far I have progressed to item 4 on the list. But while drinking the coffee, I made a list of today's shopping (already made one purchase on Amazon, yay!)
Another achievement during the coffee drinking was to light a fire under Publius and my brother to begin the sunshade project on the back deck for my future MiL. They've already departed for Lowes. I'm still sitting here drinking my second cup and adding to my grocery shopping list. Since I'm hunting for some items that are out of stock at Publix (who knew that COVID-19 would affect ginger snap production at Nabisco? Nonetheless, Publius' daddy has to have them), I'll try a few other stores.
Then to the boozery and Home Depot for pots, potting soil and a bag of mulch.
