Durham at "Full-Throttle" Investigating Obamagate?
Durham moving 'full-throttle' on Russia probe review, top federal prosecutors involved: sources
U.S. Attorney for Connecticut John Durham is going "full throttle" with his review into the origins of the investigation into suspected Russia-Trump coordination in the 2016 election, with additional top prosecutors involved in looking at different components of the original probe, sources told Fox News.Meanwhile, researcher TechnoFog thinks that the Flynn phone call was leaked to the Washington Post's Adam Entous first, and only later shopped to David Ignatius when Entous refused to write an article on it. (He reasoned that the incoming NSA should be talking to the Russian ambassador, and didn't understand why his sources were attempting to scandalizing it.) There seems to be a suggestion here that only Sally Yates, or a handpicked minion could have leaked the call at this time, and accurately described "Sally Yates' thinking."
Two sources told Fox News that Jeff Jensen, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri who was tapped by the Justice Department in February to review the case of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, is continuing to help with Durham's investigation even after the DOJ's move last week to drop the case against Flynn. The sources told Fox News that interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Timothy Shea is also assisting with components of the investigation. "They farmed the investigation out because it is too much for Durham and he didn't want to be distracted," one of the sources told Fox News.
"He's going full throttle, and they're looking at everything," the source told Fox News. ... "This is one particular episode, but we view it as part of a number of related acts ... and we're looking at the whole pattern of conduct," Barr said, noting that they were investigating before "and after ... the election." Meanwhile, a source said that the "pattern of conduct" Durham is investigating includes misrepresentations made to the FISA court to obtain warrants to surveil Trump campaign associate Carter Page.
"Barr talks to Durham every day," one source recently told Fox News. "The president has been briefed that the case is being pursued, and it's serious."
President Trump on Friday offered a vague, but ominous, warning as the Durham probe proceeds. "It was a very dangerous situation what they did," Trump said during an interview with "Fox & Friends" Friday. "These are dirty politicians and dirty cops and some horrible people and hopefully they're going to pay a big price in the not too distant future."

Well, went out to get a haircut:
-place showed as open online
-Got some gas (no one wearing masks)
-The Glorious leader(Beshear) had proclaimed that on this day, everyone in public had to wear a mask
-Got a fish sandwich at McDonalds (they were wearing masks, but none of the people going through drive thru were)
-barber shop. Lights on. Doors locked. I am wondering if they are only open by appointment. Looks like a nice place- even had a motorized barber poll which piques my nostalgic glands. Will give them a call tomorrow and see if they take appointments.
-got some e-liquid. Vape shop has been open during this whole darn thing. No mask on the girl running the place or her guest on the couch.

We called this SCI in the Military. Sensitive Compartmented Information. Need to know type of investigation and the rank and file FBI is not conducting this. It is limited to a few trusted individuals and the Grand Jury.
You would know who leaked what with that, and AG Barr and Durham have only appointed people they trust on a need to know basis and with limited information to do their job.

I think the sun rising helped too, but I might be confused. Its been ages since I read it. But the film just made the ringwraiths look pathetic, especially after having been fooled by a bunch of pillows earlier. They were supposed to be terrifying but nothing about them was particularly intimidating except that one scene where the hobbits hide under the roots.

I 100% agree Trump has backup. However I'm still in the camp that believes he is going hard after the Obama admin right now *principally* because his opponent was the #2 guy in it. First of all, by exposing as much as he can right now, it makes it that much harder to "replace" Biden. He can immediately say Biden is being replaced because he was part of a corrupt administration that was "caught" and now the Dems are desperate.
But it also helps beat Biden from an angle they are not well-prepared to defend. Like when Trump went after Hillary very early on for "holding down Bill's women while he raped them".
Trump is leaving Biden's top three weaknesses (his dementia, his treatment of women, and his mouth) on the shelf while he hammers HARD at the cornerstone which Biden's entire candidacy is based on - that he "was there". He is turning Biden's potential strength - *the* potential strength - into a weakness before your eyes. Just like he did with Hillary being a woman.
*This* is why Trump wins and makes it look so fucking easy.

That is correct, the Lord of the Nazgul meant to stab Frodo with the morgul-knife. Gandalf explains it (textually) at Rivendell. Once the shard reached Frodo's heart it would have turned him into a mini-wraith under the Nazgul's control, and he would have gone with them to Mordor to hand over the One Ring. The ploy failed because neither Sauron nor his servants knew about Hobbits' racial saving throw bonuses.

Ed Harris is not my type of guy. There is a youtube clip where he angrily slams a table after a normal question, everyone was shocked. It was pretty weird.
But the one that really got me was when they honored Elia Kazan. You had prominent lefties like Warren Beatty applauding the guy's work if nothing else. But then you had wannabes like Harris and his significant other making a point of demeaning the man. It is on youtube if you haven't seen it. The guy is simply unlikable.

It has a lot of problems. The inclusion of the love story (although that also gives a nice anti-commie message by the propaganda officer.) The film meanders a lot and cannot seem to decide if it wants to be a message film (both of these guys all suck) or a taunt thriller between two men with good motivation.

IIRC Flynn told Pence he did not talk to the ambassador contrary to the reports. Pence went out and defended Flynn based on that conversation. The WH had to retract their defense and deny having knowledge of the conversation.
Pence recently stated that he now believes Flynn did not intentionally lied to him.

I'd be inclined to take your word on that one. That being the case, if the 302 discrepancy is the reason Flynn was fired, then Pence should not only be 'open' to having Flynn back at the White House, he should be shouting it from the rooftops. If one presumes that Germany didn't engage in genocide against its Jews and armed disaffected Russian minorities you are talking about probably another million soldiers and maybe two million more workers.

There was zero public moral support for continuing fighting and I mean they were our allies. But we could have been absolute about negotiations when the powers sat down at the table to decide how the post war world would look. Like "and at this point you go the hell back to Russia and the European powers will oversee Europe." But no.
At least part of that was because Roosevelt's administration was shot through with Communists, flat out total Soviet fans, who were fine with the Russians taking over much of Europe.

Best action movie ever made. Not a single visual effect. Everything practical and most done in real time, no cuts. Frankenheimer was an editor, one of the best. The long shot of Lancaster assembling the train bomb with train coming in distance, then setting it off, is done in one shot.

If the rescue mission had been pursued desperately to the end, it would have only created the possibility of realizing the Soviet objective - complete roll-up of the southern German front. It's true that Hitler in 1941 was an arrogant control freak. But he was entitled to that position.
1. Hitler liked to shoot craps and bet high, in terms of strategical policy. In summer of 1941 he was a big winner with some good runs. Why shouldn't he go big?
2. Hitler supported Guderian, Manstein, and Rommel, the panzer generals who gave him victories. The old-hand infantry generals who knew that the USSR was a much bigger opponent (in every way) than previous opponents and that quick victory might prove illusionary were out of favor and ignored.

They needed to stop in the middle and say "no mas!" to which the allies almost certainly would have stopped too. Germany was basically out of resources and needed more time for weapons development. They weren't going to make a bomb (their scientists were going the wrong direction, apparently all the good ones bailed early and were helping the allies). But they had a lot of other goodies they could use.
And its racist, but people at the time would have been much more horrified if we nuked Berlin than Nagasaki.

I didn't. I wanted to see if anyone else would mention it. The cashier did. She reminded that Costco requires masks.
No one else mentioned it and no one prevented me from shopping.

It was one of the most daring successful actions of a war chock full of them.
Very interesting was the inside info/collaboration that in the end made the raid possible. People inside Norsk Hydro.
The sabotage of the shipment was on a ferry that carries things across a lake, from whence it is shipped by surface most of the rest of the way. There was heavy water on the ferry awaiting shipment - commandos sank the ferry too.
And Germany was not just on the wrong track, but had already decided against a serious nuke project for the same reason so many other "what ifs" bandied about here are not based on reality - they had crushing resource constraints. And urgency. At the key meeting, Heisenberg and others indicated the project would take several years - and that point, the leadership needed things to affect the war, now, or within a year or two, at most.

not my war but yeah, they were not going to win. Inevitable is a bad word because it discounts an absurd amount of sacrifice. But all you have to look at is the USA, UK, and even Soviet will. No way the Germans "win" the war. And those tha think they should have not invaded Russia are missing the point. Russia was the plan all along, Western Europe was more the accident than Russia.
that is all I can say, like I said, it is not my war.

I hate to say it, but things like the Mission Trips are part of the problem. The locals find it more profitable to sit on their asses and cry "oh please white man give us money and goods because it is so terrible here, please help us". And they don't want to help themselves, because that sweet free money would go somewhere else.
What needs to happen is NO outside aid at all, and then the ones who can't figure out how to survive starve to death, and the descendants of the ones who DO figure it out end up owning and running everything. That's how its happened everywhere else for all of human history.

It was a first class hospital when the Brits ran it. By the time I saw it, there were piles of people on the floor, it was filthy and they had absolutely no idea how to cure anything any longer. It was very sad.
I invited one of the native Catholic priests to come to America the next year and I took him on a tour of Swedish Hospital in downtown Seattle. He couldn't believe what he was seeing.

The Kriegsmarine would've definitely benefited for a 1942 start date. But that was about it. The Luftwaffe suffered under the command of Goering and his WW I cronies, who mostly didn't understand the advances of technology and its force multiplier advantages.
1. Goering intended for the Luftwaffe to be a medium-range support arm for the Wehrmacht, and that was how it operated. He never changed his mind, or gave real support to the rocket weapons and strategic bombing program.
2. Due to the success of cracking Enigma, the Allies were aware of communications regarding Nazi super weapons. The Nazi A-bomb project was hamstrung by the destruction of the Norwegian facility by commandos. Peenemunde was bombed flat by the RAF, forcing Von Braun to rebuild from scratch.
3. The Nazis lacked access to the rare metals required to make high-tech weapons truly operable. This caused production and testing delays, and kept superweapons grounded due to lack of parts.
4. Strategically speaking, the V-1 and V-2 weapons were useless because they were largely expended on English urban targets instead of the European ports and supply centers necessary for the supply of the Anglo-American armies in 1944. Blasting London neighborhoods made for great propaganda, but did nothing to forestall the liberation of France and the unending pressure applied to the West Front. And no-one even thought of flinging some V-weapons at the supply distribution points for the Red Army before Operation Bagration.

I tend to agree, at least as far as visits by outside people who bring a lot of largess with them. We didn't. We brought ideas about how they could better themselves by working their asses off. Tough love, if you will.
The thing is, when you talked to the natives about things like "hey, water your fields with water from the lake, dude" they'd cock their head to the side like the dog in the old record player ad and look at you like you were insane. "These are not the ways of our ancestors!"
Part of the problem is laziness and not wanting to fall off the Western gravy train, but part of it is also just dumb shit stupidity and a failure to imagine solutions.

I've spent some time in Malawi, a/k/a "The Warm Heart of Africa". Beautiful country, but a complete mess, post-colonialism.
That being said (re: ills of colonialism), One of the books I'm reading is Paul Kenyon's Dictatorland: The Men Who Stole Africa.
I'm just up to the part about the Congo, and how Mobutu and Lumumba went from strangers, to friends and partners, to the part where Mobutu had Lumumba killed in less than a handful of years.
The way post-Colonial Africa was set up, there was no way that they could have succeeded. Those nacent African nationalists were surrounded by wolves, and they were but sheep.
