A threesome did not have a happy ending early yesterday when the two male participants got into a bloody fight that landed one of them in a South Carolina jail on multiple criminal charges, court records show. I just had a lovely experience at our local grocery store. After the giant clusterf*ck nightmare at Albertsons last weekend (masks, lines, one-way aisles), we decided to go to the local store. Quite a few people, but everything was in stock, and only two masks in the whole place. It really made my day.

Herd, I hate to have to report bad news, but I've been stricken with the Cowvid 19 virus.
Initial symptoms at first, felt like mild indigestion. Then, like acid reflux. Soon after though, I found myself urking small bits of a previously eaten meal, up into my mouth. I wasn't really all to sure as to the meaning of this, so I chewed on it for a while, lest it ruminate my life.
Feeling nauseus, I stuck my hoof in my mouth, and stampeded into the bathroom. Safely there, I was suprised when it was "the other end" that gave way, resulting in a loud "plop!" when the cow-patty hit the floor. Truth, too. I wouldn't bullshit you on this.
Udderly shaken, I thought to seek medical attention as soon as possible. Arriving at the vet, the line was long, but I easily horned-in at the front of the line. Some were upset when I moooved them out of the way. But honestly, they didn't have a beef with me. It's the Cowvid they should be mad at!
Alas, my strength gave out about then, and I collapsed, milked of every ounce of the strength of my prime, but confident I'd made the right choice, and happy that I didn't chuck this one chance.
But in the end, there I was, a downer cow. I'd have aspire to be even ground beef.
I've ended up coralled with the Cutter and Canner Gang. USDA tatts on their faces and necks, they're a tough and gristly bunch, but just never made the grade. Nothing cheesy about these heifers though, they make the Cowsills sound like a bunch of loooooosers.
But if I get to feeling better, I'll be heading to greener pastures, soon.
That happens, I'll be over the moon!

I had the same thought the other day. I tended bar from the age of 19 to 33, part-time most of that time but sometime full time. So my social life really revolved around the bar and other hang-outs that people I knew frequented.
Homebody today, it's a real change.

I can safely say I called it...this year, at the end of the year, total deaths for 2020 will be now different than any other year, with the one difference being that Covid-19 will make up the bulk of all deaths, but deaths by heart attacks, cancer, hang nails, etc, etc will be at a HISTORIC all time low...hmm, why would that be?

An investigation just revealed the CDC totally fucked up the manufacturing process for the WuFlu test kits, which delayed getting testing ramped up for a month.
They allowed the test materials to get contaminated, which caused a bunch of false positives, making the test kits useless.
The CDC is incompetent. May be as incompetent as the Chicom Wuhan lab.

In my personal experience, and I'm a prime at risk candidate, old, long term bronchitis, pertussis and pneumonia through the years.
I've been to five different hot spots here. In three different hospitals including an overnight stay.
If I haven't had it yet, I'm likely not going to. I get my flu shot every year, have had the pneumonia series shots and, if I feel bad I stay the hell away from people.
I don't want to catch or spread this stuff but we have been lied to and conned for too long and I'm over it.

I got to see him perform live exactly once, and it was something special. Back in eighty-something, he was one of the first musicians to perform at the then brand-new Jack Singer Concert Hall in Calgary. A friend had some connections, and I got an invite to be there, in a front-row seat, no less.
Well, the Doctor came out on stage, and tried the vocal mike, and the mike on his grand piano. Both dead. Quick conference off-stage. He came back out, and said "the hall sound system is down, and it's brand new, and they don't know how to fix it. We can cancel the show, and refund your money, and maybe I can schedule a show here a few years from now. But they tell me that this hall was built with a lot of attention paid to having perfect acoustics, so the alternative is for me to play and sing for you without any amplification. You all good with that?" Crowd goes wild. John cracks a big smile, sits down at the piano, and plays and sings for about 90 minutes. It was amazing.

Re my father. We got to see him today, through the window to his room. My mother had a fall and skinned her forearm and bruised up her knee, but she went. Miley and I helped her with a walker and we brought a chair for her to sit in.
As I mentioned, they've got him in isolation. They are scared shitless of this WuFlu, I mean hysterical. The draconian regs are coming from the state itself.
Anyway, he seemed to more alert. He was in a wheelchair and insisted he could walk fine, but the PT gal says he's still a bit unsteady and has trouble going to the bathroom.
We had to light a fire under their asses to get them to allow this window meeting.

One of us drove every weekend, for 3 years. Our time together was very special.
Then, she moved in with me, and we lasted 2 more years.

You got that right coffee for $1,000 a pound this episode. So back about 20 years ago or a little more we went to Jamaica and bought blue Jamaican coffee. Best I Ever Had. I'm thinking back in those days dollars it was 20 to $25 a pound, so don't know what that would be today.
It was so good we bought some to bring home as gifts to family even though it was that expensive. No idea what it cost today.

I haven't been there very recently, but at the park I like to walk in, it's technically 'closed' by LA County. They have their 'safer at home' signs up.
There's also two ways into the park... you can drive in to an interior parking lot, but that gate is closed. There's also parking alongside the road, which is not closed, but the city put up yellow tape across the bridges entering the park.
Yet, when I last drove by a few days ago? Quite a few cars parked, and I could see people walking inside the park. There's no way they missed the yellow tape.
At the same time...no cops harassing or ticketing them. So yeah, I get the impression that even here in SoCal, some police are sensible enough to leave people alone, so long as they're not flagrantly flouting the 'social distancing' guidelines.

I agree. That's too far. Barring entry to the grocery store sans mask, not too far. Fines, too far. Arrests -- waaaaay too far. Banning you from the store -- not too far. Stores ban people all the time for shoplifting, dress codes, vandalism etc. Their place, their rules. Don't like it, go somewhere else.

When our second grandson was outside with me when he was about two, he was picking up handfuls of dirt, playing with them, and then brushing off his hands with one another. He did that three or four times, after which I looked away from him for five seconds, tops, during which interval he put dirt in his mouth. I saw him trying to spit it out and started laughing. "Yeah! Good job! Put that immune system to work!" After that we went inside and he took apart a small section of a cheesesteak sandwich and devoured it.

But it's not 'their' rules, it's by decree of the governor in my state. All grocery stores are required by said decree to only allow customers in who wear face coverings. That's not the same as your point. Let me know in normal times how a grocery store will survive which only allows in customers, 10 at a time, who wear face coverings.

I have always been pretty awful mechanically. I mean I can build stuff like computers, but as far as fixing things with small parts? No... I mean I can take stuff apart but always have pieces left over when I put them back together.
That said - I think I just discovered that, although from the north, I am in fact a redneck engineer. I always come up with insane fixes for simple things (as long as I don't really have to take anything apart or understand too much about them) and they work.
I just fixed my 30 year old wheel office chair which has a little pump that finally gave in, and it was sinking an inch too low every time I sat on it.
How? Well I ferreted around the house and of course ended up grabbing the thin cardboard roll from inside my Kirkland parchment paper (surprisingly sturdy cardboard btw). Measured up and cut it in three cylinder pieces. Split each one down the side and then fastened all three around each other, around the little pole where the chair was sinking. Purposely left it high assuming it would give a bit. Little bit of Gorilla Tape around the cardboard... and voila, fixed fucking chair.
I mean it's settled to almost exactly where it used to... and the fucker even still spins. I know there's a lot of engineering geniuses on here who will think that's pretty stupid or simplistic, but I managed to impress myself.

I don't think it's virtue signaling.
You know, it's possible to believe both that the country is overreacting, that many of the restrictions are arbitrary and stupid and that it makes sense to reopen the country, especially the areas that are not Wuhan flu hotspots and, at the same time, to follow the recommendations that make sense - like hand washing and wearing a mask in stores and keeping a distance from people.
I wear a mask in stores. Does that make me a mindless sheep? I am not terribly worried about dying from Kung Flu (I might have had a very mild case already) but I would hate to pass it on to someone who is vulnerable and might die if they get it.
This virus is lethal to a very small number of people. I want us to start working and living normal lives again, but I also don't want to endanger other people just to show that hey, I'm not afraid of the virus!

I had a real pleasant surprise today when one of my classmates from 4th grade posted our class picture on Facebook. Fourth grade was when our family moved out of the boondocks in the Township and into the "big city" next door. It also was the first time I had been in a class photo although I lost my own copy years ago. I was pleased that I could recall the names of 24 or so of us out of a class of close to 30.

I was away for a phone call. I do appreciate your point of view. I also understand about having someone vulnerable living with you.
My friend has had two major surgeries in the last five weeks. I have been her only care giver for the year and a half we've known each other through broken bones and surgeries, PT and so forth.
Right now, we are staying apart because she is vulnerable to infections. I had a friend stop by, four weeks after he had a case of flu. The next day it kicked back in so we're staying apart. He actually thinks that rather than a recurrence of the flu it came from he and his wife doing a very strenuous and likely illegal hike the day after we had lunch together.
I'll stay safe because of her concerns but masks do not give all that much protection.

Well my general feeling is those gubners are overstepping. I would vastly prefer the free market deciding. For example, Walmart announced yesterday that starting Monday, all WalMart employees will be required to wear masks. Since they are in all 50 states, it ain't due to one gubner's order.
Now, if you are in my boat, you would pick the place requiring face masks to shop there. I've explained why I would choose the mask place.
But, just for argument, what if there is only one grocery store in a 40 mile radius? I've got a car, I can travel, I can make choices. Not everyone has that luxury. I dunno, one of many hard choices I suppose.

I pm'd my Doc on a patient portal thingy. All he said was he's remotely monitoring my device; I've had a remote monitor in my place for about three years now. My surgery's not scheduled yet as they are not scheduling any surgeries but I was told it will be sometime in late August/September at the earliest, which is about 4 to 5 months past where the surgery would have been done.

Those who have some past background and who watched the briefings etc closely the last few weeks will know that masks are almost solely and entirely for 1) symptomatic infected, to avoid transmission 2) are not generally in themselves any protection for most people, if this bug is like any other ever seen in terms of airborne transmission 3) CDC was mau-mau'd into adding the weak recommendation, late, by public pressure, and rightly expects that masks may actually be a net negative (abetting actually important bad behaviors, sort of like helmets did in ice hockey).
Gonna stock up one more time on groceries, in the unlikely event SD County adopts a stupid mask policy, I can wait them out. And like qdp noted, around here the enforcement of all the restrictions has been pretty lax, not aware of a single instance of the atrocities that fill these pages the last few weeks WRT snitches, "Karens", etc.
Of course I've excluded as a fundamental assumption of my analysis that some of the reportage might possibly reflect more on the hair-trigger sensitivities of the person reporting than the stasi-like obsessions of their neighbors. Right up front. Automatically. Of course.

Cut the PVC pipe to the exact length of that stack of cardboard.
Two longitudinal cuts, along the length of the PVC, 180 degrees opposed. (duh, cut it in half, lengthwise)
Hose clamp that onto your cardboard. At least three clamps.
Extreme top and bottom, and middle.
Add more to "middle" if needed.
Now, your cardboard column won't collapse from compression fatigue.

If 50-85 times more people have been exposed than have been counted in the running totals, the bug is far more widespread and less deadly than thought. This is very good if you're not in a high risk group, and worrisome if you're in a high risk group as your odds of crossing the bug's path are much higher.
Now, if you can successfully isolate, it should also mean that herd immunity should be achieved faster, so you may not need to wait as long as previously thought to rejoin society.

If the Kung Flu Freakout was more rational they would have asked that all start wearing masks in public or keep distance to reduce propagation of the 'serious' new bug until it is better understood.
Restaurants seating would still be an issue but that is about it.
All the other shit could be lower key back channel. Even hospitals could be flexible - if they start seeing a surge in virus related cases they would reschedule other procedures anyway.
But for some reason the Freakout was like it was a deliberate bio-weapon attack. And everyone is still acting like they are trying to figure out how to respond without openly accusing China of an attack or getting egg on their face (notwithstanding those not letting a crises go to waste).

Reminds me of a Mets game I attended back in 1981, seat cushion night. Dave 'King Kong' Kingman was on that team. A Friday night, a sucky Mets season and about 5,000 in attendance. In Nov. '18, as her conditions worsened and she developed bad dreads from being unable to groom properly, we were advised to euthanize her. That morning, one year ago, Kitty could not even stand. Mama had put her in puppy diapers for several days. The night before, after changing and cleaning her up, Mama put Kitty into her plush kitty bed and put that on her abdomen while reclined against a big pillow. Suddenly, that tiny, dying, 3-legged Kitty looked up at Mama and began to claw herself with her forelegs from the bed to Mama's right arm. Kitty was going to use her last strength (Kitty had not eaten more than a lick or 2 in days) to get to her favorite place. Mama saw all this, picked her up, gently put her down insider her arm, and Kitty went to sleep. She drank water in the morning but no more after that. It was now a matter of hours -- 1 dozen or 2 dozen we didn't know. Kitty just wanted Mama to hold her. Periodically, Kitty would look up at Mama and pat her sternum/clavicle. It was time to call a vet to come euthanize her so that, as does happen, her last moments weren't spent seizing up or struggling to breath, etc. The vet was scheduled for 5 pm.
GF and I were in the worst emotional states of our lives. We were losing our daughter. I thought we were doing the right thing by making sure Kitty gently went to sleep for the last time, without pain. Before inserting the catheter for the sedation, the vet sent us 30' away to the back steps (we were in the backyard where Kitty had spent so much time before losing her leg). Eventually he came over and told us he could not get a vein, meaning no sedation. He rejected our query about giving her an OD of buprenorphine (an opiate that is often given to cats for pain relief) saying it would take too long (WTF?). Then, without telling us it's illegal, and a horrible and inhuman procedure on an animal that's not sedated, and telling us that she wouldn't feel anything, he convinced us to allow him to do a "heart stick" (aka, intracardiac injection). Then, without us having a chance to see her again -- and we were supposed to be holding her -- he sent us inside before stabbing her in the heart.
It took Dorkie Dork 4 years to overcome her fear and come up to me for food one cold day. It was immediately love at first petting. All she wanted was to love. She had simple pleasures - bacon and a lap (or an arm at night to sleep on). She was just a little kitty - 8# at her heaviest and probably under 4 at the end. We were on the verge of doing something profound and life-affirming for the rest of ours, and instead, albeit unknowingly and after being manipulated, we gave her to a monster who committed evil. There's no other way to describe it. This wasn't "my hand slipped" or "I misread the label" or "who could've known she'd react this way", it was calculated and intentional evil. Our world has been permanently altered for the worse. Nothing will restore what we lost but I'm damn sure going to find out why it happened and make sure it never does again.

I can't speak to the entire menu.

Lawsuits will be coming. They are blatantly abusing Civil Rights.
And there is a nice little Federal Law that talks about conspiracy of STATE Officials to conspire to take away Constitutional Rights (was passed right after the Civil War, and is still in force).
We are about to see if we are a Constitutional Republic or not.

Seriously... what would have happened? Romney would have conceded we have nothing to be afraid of without elections. McCain would have told us we shouldn't be racist by demanding one. National Review would have come out and voxplained why Lefty Dictatorships are sometimes necessary to conserve conservatism, and some of the usual suspects would have made a lot of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
Maybe a lawsuit would be brought and that could wind its way to the Supreme Court and we could find out in a few years whether it was Constitutional for Obama to cancel the election? Maybe his approval rating would have dropped. Maybe not.
But... we weren't exactly going to storm the WH, were we?

My heart goes out to you. I have several rescue cats as well as dogs. They are all unique and special. I am not good with words. All I can say is that the love and kindness that you gave your Kitty will never perish. She is part of your heart and soul and as long as you live she lives in your memories. She lives through any acts of kindness that you do for other pets. She was and is a little ray of sunshine. Continue to let others know in words and deeds.

You can probably find some thin plywood that would do the trick. The stuff that you might use to redo the back of an old cabinet or pie safe with. Not strong enough to take a punch, but should handle insulation batting no problem.
Maybe find someone remodeling and throwing out their 1970's wood panels? Craigslist might be worth checking.

Most DD's near me are in small strip malls, and a pretty small.
So keeping the mandated 6 ft distance is pretty hard also people were congregating and bitching about the fascist bullshit we are being put through.
