    30 from last thread:

"And before you look, is it just me or was anyone surprised when Trump said that HE was the one who wanted to OVER do the beds, and vents. He kept saying as he pointed to Birx and Fauci that they told him you're not going to need that many!
What was that about? All along we have all been thinking he was being pushed by those two which is why he sent The Comfort and the Mercy. Now we find out that he did that I guess out of extreme caution."

I think that matches up perfectly with Trump's personality, is not a surprise at all. When he built a hotel, he had to build the BIGGEST, best, YUGE Hotel that would put everything else to shame. Same for Casinos, and resorts. When he decides he has to do something, he does all he can to go over the top and do it in a bigger way than anyone else is thinking of, that's who he is.

31 I was categorized as Lawful Good.

BTW, I have always thought most great cuisines have their fajitas. The greatest fajita other than true fajitas* is Peking Duck. After Peking Duck comes falafel and schwarma. There are others out there but I can't think of them at this precise moment.

*true fajitas are skirt steak or flank, with salsa and maybe some sour cream. My biggest pet peeve is people at Chipotle who call the veggies "fajita". My second biggest pet peeve, but really my first, it chicken fajitas. See, fajita is an actual word that means something. It describes a part of the cow. The term fajita means "little belt" which is where skirt steak comes from.

Sorry for the rant. I feel better now. And if you like chicken in tortillas, no worries.

No other explanation other than someone is holed up there completely out of their mind. Never heard any talking or music, just loud running that shakes my walls. Been like this for about a year, but for a 6 months it originally happened three years ago with a year gap. I know the unit is owned by a uy who owns several in the building and I wouldn't put it past him that he's stuck a mentally ill relative in the unit as a way to save on institutionalizing them. 56 That whole story about the Earl of Sammich inventing the sammich is nonsense.

Bread had been around for thousands of years, and meat for millions, and this clown was the first guy to come up with putting a piece of leftover cooked meat between a couple slices of bread? Balderdash!

What happened is he, when drunk, was the first Big Shot to do something at a Big Shot Gathering that the lowly peasants had been doing for millennia. And that made it OK among Big Shot Circles, so the chatterers got in on the act.

That's why they keep harping on "not enough" tests, 'cause that's all they have left at this point.

I got it from Martenson at Peak Prosperity youTube ... I think he did say it was from China, but I think I saw it another place. It makes sense to me though, that many are exposed and defeat the virus without going through the "develop antibody" phase.

I have no in depth acquaintance with how that works, but we are minimally exposed to a lot of things that get beaten by our system without us noticing. One NY doctor linked here said he was relieved, that most spread is from closer and/or prolonged contact. And the super spreaders seem to be at social events with closer contact ... church in S Korea, parties with many friends ... hugs and kisses I presume ...

So requiring a certificate would require healthy people to get really sick, same for marginally healthy people, until the is a GatesApproved, GatesOwned vaccine. But minimal social distancing may be enough to stop it, and if the HCQ (or other) treatment is effective, we must get back to work now.

There is another agenda at work ... they want to cure the "Christianity Virus" and the "FreeMind Virus". heh

129 San Antonio Shoes, aka SAS are not cheap by any means. But they are made in America and of very high quality. They will let you return shoes you have only worn indoors if they do not fit right. They are the best walking shoes I have owned and I have owned some good shoes.

Their website says they only take back unworn shoes whatever that means. But I would call them and they would likely let you try them on and walk around indoors to see if they fit right. They told me the same but the shoe ended up working.

The scenes from Chernobyl involving the coal miners come to mind now. Recall how they were issued masks that they "must wear at all times" when they first arrived on the scene. Then their leader meets with the head Commie and head scientist to discuss what is to be done and why. At the end of the discussion, the head miner contemptuously tossed his mask on the table and stated, "If these were really any good, you'd be wearing them yourselves -- but you are not."

In all the press briefings that are being televised, how many masks do you see being worn?

    Exactly.

    End this bullshit lockdown, now!

229 Yes, I have a tendency to be careful with my money. Until recently, my income was quite a bit lower than it is now. What I've noticed now, with the panic, is that -- gas prices excepted -- nearly every trip to purchase something costs more than it did. The inexpensive house brands and the individual items, like Walmart's single roll of Scott toilet paper, are gone by the time I get there, or perhaps are not being provided at all. So I end up having to spend more.

Interesting story why it was made. It is based on the Thunderball novel which is the only Bond book to which Ian Fleming did not own clear copyright. Kevin McClory gave the story to Fleming; Fleming wrote the novel based on the screen treatment. McClory spent years in legal wrangling to obtain rights to make his own inferior movie.

273 Because pouring a wheel barrel load of asphalt will not fix the problem. The underlying "base" has failed/is failing. The only way to fix the problem is a complete remove and replace.

In Houston, after six months or so, about half of the repaired potholes are little better than the original pothole.

My biggest complaint is about the repairs made to separations at changes between road sections. The crews heap-up the asphalt, expecting traffic will soon compress it to road-level (I assume). But those always seem to remain a raised strip, becoming an unplanned speed-bump. I can navigate around most potholes, but a lane-wide speed-bump is hard to avoid on a busy street.

275 I thought it was raw Tuna.

    .....

I think tuna, specifically, would be maguro.

But you might have a sashimi platter with tuna, salmon, clam and other raw seafoods.

Or you might have a sushi roll with raw tuna or some other fish in it.

Or you have a lump of rice with raw tuna or some other fish on it, which I believe would be Nigiri.

i am not expert or even amateur. But my understanding is the word sushi refers to the preparation of the rice with rice wine etc. Then it is topped with whatever. It is common to top the rice with raw fish as the Japanese are fond of raw fish. But you can put cooked crab or egg on sushi too.

Americans think of sushi as raw fish but the real term for that is Sashimi. Anyway, the net can tell you more about it that can I .

I hand that on both wrists a little under 10 years ago. Complete recovery. Pinch strength (thumb against side of index finger measured by a gauge) was "crazy strong" per surgeon.

He split a tendon about six inches up my forearm and pulled the slit down into the empty space where the trapezium bone used to be. Knotted it all up and then the void fills with scar tissue.

I had osteoarthritis in that spot in both wrists. Very, very helpful procedure. No pain since. Full function restored.

That is after years of voting for Democrats like it was a team sport, generally destroying the social and economic fabric. They're all now coming to a town near you like locusts to do the same. I can't keep it in stock. People here generally don't eat much bread. I keep a loaf in the freezer just in case - the last one was there at least a month.

    Well.

With five people stuck here all day against their will, I can't keep enough bread in the house. We are limited to four packages at the grocery store so I keep having to run in for more.

No one, including me, wants to get on the scale.

I've been on keto since mid Jan (surgery prep). Stuck with it. Lost over 30 lbs so far. Went from a very snug 38" to loose 36" waist. Don't count calories, just carbs.

I mostly replaced bread with low-carb tortillas. Also some low carb bread from Aldi. I do have days where I break from that, but don't overdo it. Couple inches of a baguette with a fondue. Stuff like that. Infrequent.

Beer intake way down. Bourbon is up.

384 On my street I see kids playing together in pretty large groups. My neighbor house is a central gathering spot for the hood. They have a big backyard and a basketball court set up. So kids from al over just kind of show up and hang out there, my kids included.

You would think with shut down order that would stop. Nope. Now its just like summer vacation. The hood parents dont seem to be taking this too seriously. I am though and my kids have to stay home. Which they understand and are fine with it. They still talk to everyone next door just over the fence lol.

I had a friend, my mentor, who was killed by the VA. I've never seen such a run of medical malpractice than what happened to him.

A Vietnam Vet. Ended up dying because of a broken hip joint. Spent almost 2 years in the hospital. Died the day before he was to go home to spend his final days. That home was his dream home and all he wanted was to see that beautiful view one more time.

430 Older Singers and Brothers run between 30 and 60 bucks at thrift shops. They don't have all the bells and whistles, but they do sew and are repairable, mostly.

My GF wanted a replacement for the Viking she got in the 90s that died when the power system shorted out and the replacement part cost was too high for her. The new high tech ones we looked at are run by a sort of smart phone looking screen, and I suspect they would brick if you miss an update.
She got a used Brothers from a thrift shop, and I have been using it to turn out pillows and do-rags recently. She also got herself a serger so she is ready to start sewing projects as soon as she gets an area cleared to work in.

I prefer a machine that allows me to manually change the stitch length, so I like my Singer, but I admit that the Brothers' approach to "everything is preset from a dial" is attractive because I don't have to fiddle to get it right.

DC is weird, but as far as I know making a criminal complaint is not a required condition for filing a civil suit against someone for battery and whatever else might go with a sexual assault case - intentional infliction of emotional distress, maybe. However, the incident was in 1993, so there is likely to be a statute of limitations problem in both the criminal and civil realms. Some states have laws that extend the statute of limitations on sex abuse, but that typically applies to minors.

laypeople sometimes think Statutes of Limitations are "get out of jail free" cards, but - as much as I hate to defend someone like Biden - they are a very important part of our system of justice. The reason is because, after a certain amount of time has passed, it becomes *impossible* for the accused to defend himself against the charges. Suppose, for example, that YOU were suddenly accused by someone who barely know of assaulting you 25 years ago? How could you defend yourself, what could you say except "nuh uh! Nuh Uh!!!"

The Founders of this country were well aware of this, because one of the favorite tricks the British Crown used to go after political enemies was to produce some witness who would swear to some terrible crime having been committed by the target 20 or 30 years earlier, and then demanding that he prove his innocence. it's a key tool of any oppressive political system, and that's why we don't allow it in this country. never have.

Of course he did not..He may not be my favorite, but what he said yesterday was perfectly acceptable and not a bit racist in any form what so ever except maybe to that fat reporter who asked him about it

505 As I've mentioned before, I have a houseful of
treadles. I have a Necchi Supernova that is a nice machine but the cams
won't work. You could check Facebook marketplace, if the thrifts are
shut down. I haven't checked Goodwill online, but they have pickup in
some areas, if you win the auction.

Posted by: Notsothoreau at April 11, 2020 10:57 AM (Lqy/e)

I have a Necchi that my mom got when she was a kid. Its from the early 1950's. I don;t know what they call it, but it has free standing cabinet it tucks away in, not a table top. I know absolute squat about it.

506 This ground beef is just a bit past it's prime. Should be ok, just smells a bit ripe. For chili.
    Posted by: Aetius451AD at April 11, 2020 11:09 AM

Chili con carne? Carne (or 'car' for short) is, of course, Spanish for meat.

    If you're meat's past it's prime, you're going for chili con car-rot.
