70 A black lefty activist I knew told me that his "friend" worked for the cable company in the mid-2000's and in a regular dense urban area he went to service someone's cable. He claimed his friend said the two white men from the house came out to his car while he was in the driveway afterward, and told him "don't come around here no more, we're in the klan".

He also worked in insurance at one time, and knew a little girl that died from Congress not having yet passed ObamaCare.

I never did find out if any of his friends were unarmed and shot in the back by the police, but I'm pretty sure at least one was.

But not anti-Christian. So it still seems weird. I mean I'm sure there is some symbolism in the cross burning, but it's not going to be anti-Catholic, especially since most blacks are a Protestant denomination and not Catholic.

105 Gates was on Fox News Sunday. Jabbering heads are still crediting his "Next thing that kills 10 million is pandemic" as being germane to to Covid-19.

But one of the most interesting things Gates said was that of all the countries, Taiwan had the best response.

But, what is unique about Taiwan?

They have a *universal* and *fundamental* distrust of China.

In America we have a presidential candidate with a healthy distrust of China and we have the most likely opponent who this year told us that China was not a bunch of bad dudes.

So the country that reacted the best to China is that country that didn't trust China and shut down flights to and from China as soon as they could.

109 What Vic said. Never saw KKK anything in the heart of dixie (Bama).

They rallied in Decatur in the very late 70's over a retarded black kid that had raped a white woman. That is the last I remember, though I think there was some activity in Mobile that Sessions quashed.

110 For what is worth, and I have heard this before independently, Wiki notes:

In Scotland, the fiery cross, known as the Crann Tara, was used as a declaration of war. The sight of it commanded all clan members to rally to the defence of the area. On other occasions, a small burning cross would be carried from town to town.

The Southern Crackers are mostly Scotch-Irish descent so the Klan just borrowed an older tradition.

113 If no one's mentioned it yet, this lighted cross thing is not uncommon in the deep south and it has nothing to do with the KKK. It's just a thing that people do and put in their yards. Even at Christmas (which I admit is weird).

114 I rigged up a cross of white Christmas lights on our front fence for Christmas. Now I'll have to make a bigger one. Not letting a bunch of hooded crackers OR internet hall monitors redefine my messages for me. You're welcome to try it to my face if you're game.

Not so odd at Christmas especially. People want you to be able to see it when you are driving around. These days, putting Christ in Christmas is a refreshing thing.

Always wondered at the Flaming cross symbology. Maybe something about the Flaming Sword of Christ? Not sure, always seemed odd.

Posted by: Aetius451AD at April 05, 2020 03:50 PM (A5zUN)

119 I'm fine with lighted crosses. But CNN's suckboy's there with its haphazard lighting certainly looks to be more symbolizing the burning cross.

And besides, this is the dipshit that has said Trump's speeches sounded better in the original German. So fuck him.

Posted by: buzzion at April 05, 2020 03:56 PM (Z7lwY)

120 "but their crosses burn bright,... in your front yard,... if they don't like you."

This guy is from the south, he had to have known what his picture looked like. He could have framed the photo so differently to highlight it was a decorative cross making a positive statement of perseverance and hope during challenging times akin to the holiday. But he didn't do that.

Posted by: Jaxso at April 05, 2020 03:56 PM (mx7nO)

121 Unbelievable, that cross thingy.

I remember reading an interview in Spy Magazine (1980s) with a Klansman, telling how his group was going to get around cross-burning laws by building an electric-powered cross they could pack up and transport. A kit of some kind.

Seriously, this is scarcely believable.

Nope.
