Sundown Joe Calls a Voter "Full of Shit," Talks About the Dangerous "AR-14" Assault Weapon

Someone I know asked, "Doesn't dementia also make you bad-tempered?"

Notice that Sundown Joe said "AR-14." He really knows the details of the weapons he wants to ban,.

NeverTrumper David Frum calls this a big victory for Joe Biden.

And NeverTrumper David French began offering up Whattaboutism to defend Joe Biden's obvious cognitive impairment.

I'm just going to link this "Joe Biden Tweet" again, for any who missed it.

Update: The "Joe Biden looks terrified" meme is gaining traction.

80 Some fast-acting gunmaker needs to market the black rifle under an "AR-14" moniker.

And if they want to add a wee bit o' snark, they can chamber it in .222 Remington.

More snark? Delete the gas system, put a side-handle on the bolt carrier, and make it a straight-pull bolt action, leaving every other AR feature intact.

Not that I *advocate* a neutered AR-15. But it'd be a fun exercise to see the lefties go into cognitive brain-lock, trying to sort out just how "assaulty" a straight-pull bolt action rifle is, if it's not a semi-auto.

Now, of course, the correct response to their clamor against the AR-15 is "LOLGFY", but it's still fun to toy with the contradictions of their arguments.

I wish we could figure out how to get our politicians to do this.

Democrat politicians always get to say things like "I support the 2nd amendment" or "I believe marriage is between a man and a woman" or "abortion should be rare" or any number of obvious lies but it soothes some of the idiots in the middle and gives some people cover to vote for them who otherwise wouldn't. And their leftist base understands that they're just saying what they need to do to get elected and then they're going to loyally toe the progressive line with their vote.

Oaths used to be more binding and frightening than laws or rules. People now have so totally disregarded any future or eternal consequences or even the possibility of them that they mean nothing.

They never got too bad, but she was (a) female and (b) born in 1923 when girls didn't use language like that, ever. Still, I could see the difference.
Biden, on the other hand, is a man who undoubtedly has been a lot more colorful when not in mixed company or in front of constituents. After his two brain incidents, he seems to have lost his internal censors, and now it is getting really obvious as he mentally deteriorates. (Lest you think I am an old prude, my father had a mouth like you wouldn't believe when he got mad -- imaginative, too <g> -- and then I became a nurse and really got introduced to colorful language. By all means, get out and vote. Talk to your friends. Worry about Trump's well being.

But for fuck's sake DJT is going to make a very quick snack of him. Trump would have been ready for anyone - the most media savvy, affable, crowd drawing candidate they could vomit up - but they've instead served up a hot cup of steaming Joe Biden.

It's not hypocritical, it's a wedge issue. Democrats have known for decades there are a LOT of Fudds out there who only like guns because they go pheasant hunting and rabbit hunting with grand-daddy's $25,000 custom Italian shotguns. They look at people who own AR-15s as "mall ninjas" and "gear queers".

Once societies stop fighting with honor, and toss aside the rule of law in favor of their corrupt chums while mercilessly attacking everyone else, terminal degeneration is reached. The only solution is to start purging the political opposition, and finish by eliminating inconvenient minorities (Christians and white subgroups for the left, illegal Mexican immigrants and welfare Africans for the right).

Posted by: LASue at March 10, 2020 01:40 PM (YxML+)

When Trump was running in 2016, and just starting to have big rallies, Bernie bros and assorted Dem operatives were coming to his early rallies and getting in the faces of attendees, threatening them, screaming at them, etc. At one rally, Trump waited while yet another screaming protester was jumping around and said something about if you were attacked, go ahead and knock the crap out of them back, it was ok with him.

Trump supporters at the time were being physically attacked at rallies, with virtually no protection from local police.

The Democrats, and Never Trumpers went ballistic over the comment, saying Trump was inciting violence at his rallies, etc. Trump ended up never saying it again, but he would rip on security at events if protestors weren't removed promptly.

Remember the CA rally he did in which he had to walk across a highway and up a grass embankment into a back way entry to a facility because protestors had blocked the front and side entrances to the building?

That kind of thinking won't be enough to keep Canada together for two more decades, much less win American elections. Especially when the current offering is milquetoast civic nationalism, verging on cucky. Paradoxically, Democrats are utterly insane about turning America into a third world shithole. Posted by: Northernlurker at March 10, 2020 01:56 PM (Uu+Jp)

311 In his tirade, Joe says the 2nd Amendment is like yelling fire in a theatre. What does yelling fire have to do with having an AR-14 (sic)?

He's speaking in shorthand. The long form argument goes something like this, "The first amendment is not absolute, there are limitations. For example, if there is no fire in a theater, and one yells fire, one has created a dangerous situation because all the people will rush out and some people might be injured. Therefore, we limit some speech.

So too do we limit the 2nd amendment. We (mostly) banned machine guns. I think 100 round magazines should also be banned, as well as AR-15s."

It's a crap argument for a lot of reasons. For one thing, the "fire in a crowded theater" argument is from the dissent in a first amendment SCOTUS case. It's not law.
Yes, we ban certain kinds of speech like fraud and incitement to violence, but for the most part, we are extremely permissive on speech. Additionally, whenever a first amendment case comes up, SCOTUS is all over that shit. They grant cert and set lower courts straight right away. SCOTUS doesn't give a shit about the 2nd. If states or courts abrogate 2nd amendment rights, they are just fine sitting on their thumbs until the PERFECT case comes their way, then they rule in the narrowest way possible.

I read last week where Bernie has already stated he will support Biden if Biden is the nominee. It's already arranged, they are just waiting for the appropriate time for Bernie to make his sad departing speech.
I'm sure there is a big payoff from the DNC to Bernie for that endorsement. And a promise from him never to run again. And that he will vote lockstep with the Dems on anything before the Senate.
When his term is up, he'll get a tenured appt at a seriously leftist college or left wing think tank, and will spend summers at his beach home.

398 350 dagny,
Nat Review got a big slug of money from Google and the like for their non-profit "foundation". They no longer rely on individual subscription money at all.

There is a reason that Lowry assembled his cast of paid columnists together for the anti-Trump issue. Their breadbowls depended on it.

They are essentially dead in the water as kept opposition but it earns some coin for them in the media as they can be sold as reasonable conservatives.

The reason is corporations hate populists who mess up things like earmarks, corporate subsidies, open borders, and the like. So they purposefully fund publications like the Weakly SubStandard, GlobalNational Review, and the like. The American Spectator was split but apparently went to pro-Trump after dumping some folks like Quin Hillyer and letting Ben Stein fade away.

My theory is that Beau was supposed to run in 2020 (He was going to run for Delaware gov in 2016) and Biden sees this campaign as his way of honoring Beau's memory. Biden had likely resigned himself to the knowledge that he would never be elected president, but was confident that Beau would carry on his legacy and get that final achievement which had eluded him.

Thomas grossly understated the situation by saying the 2nd is a "disfavored right" in the judiciary.

I suppose it's possible we're close to seeing this finally change, but I remain skeptical. The judiciary has been getting more and more lawless and unserious by the year, to where it now regularly usurps clear executive authority, directly violates statutory restrictions on its scope of authority, and even engages in procedural free for all like nation-wide injunctions and (relevant here) audacious defiance of SCOTUS (Heller being generally ignored).

All to yawns from SCOTUS.

Most seem to think changing personnel will be a temporary solution. We'll see.

497 I've worked in dementia wings in nursing homes. The paradox is that as dementia progresses, the potential for violence goes up (constantly not knowing what's going on can be very frustrating), but coordination goes down. So the risk in middle stages of dementia is that the patient will hurt themselves even if they're trying to hurt others.

This is going to reach a breaking point. Joe Biden is visibly deteriorating day by day.

I wonder, is there other physical deterioration we don't know about. Never mind.

They are going to either replace Joe somehow, or sequester him. No debates, no public appearances, just recorded material and press releases. Maybe they can sit him behind a big microphone that conceals his non-moving mouth.

These people don't deserve to be in charge of anything. It's pure looting at this point. It's insane.

My wife's great grandmother suffered some late life dementia, it was not that bad, but the staff at the care facility prescribed her haldol anyways. It was massive overkill for her symptoms, and she should NOT have been prescribed it, but the family only realized what had happened when her son (who was getting old himself) went to visit her. She was just as dear and sweet as ever, but she kept looking above him, in a very nervous and distracted way. So he finally asked, "Mom, what is bothering you so much, what do you keep looking at?" and she said "Well Buddy (her name for him) I'm not too bothered, but all of those snakes that keep crawling back and forth on the ceiling sure have got me distracted."

Starboard derived from the Viking styrbord - literally steering board. Viking ships had their rudders on the right side, because most people are right-handed.

The left side was originally larboard, but got changed to port, because it sounded less alike when shouted to the helmsman over a gale, and you don't dock on the same side as your rudder.

I am not one to gun shame (except 1911 fans), and I think that is a fine goal. Unless you reload, you might have less buyer's remorse with a .45 Colt or .44 Mag set. Price will be insane on ammo (even .45 Colt is compared to .44 Mag), and availability is spotty.

That said, I have a lovely Bisley Blackhawk in .45 Colt, and it is one of my favorites. It needs a Marlin, Winchester, or Henry companion.

Talking about ARs, someone mentioned 41 Magnum during the gun thread on

Sunday. I did some researching, and Henry makes a 41 Magnum lever and

Ruger makes a 41 Magnum Blackhawk.

Thinking I know the next two guns after a PSA AR10 build.

Posted by: rickb223 at March 10, 2020 02:08 PM (T0djb)

I am
not one to gun shame (except 1911 fans), and I think that is a fine
goal. Unless you reload, you might have less buyer's remorse with a .45
Colt or .44 Mag set. Price will be insane on ammo (even .45 Colt is
compared to .44 Mag), and availability is spotty.

That said, I
have a lovely Bisley Blackhawk in .45 Colt, and it is one of my
favorites. It needs a Marlin, Winchester, or Henry companion.

Posted by: flounder, rebel, vulgarian, deplorable, winner

When ammo for the .44 Mag reaches the $0.50 to $0.74 /rnd price point it makes perfect sense to reload. Plus the .44 is such a fun round to shoot and reload. Loads can be mild to wild, especially the fireballs at night.

578 I don't know, I think the Dems are going to go all the way to November with Joe.

This is the same movie we have seen before.
Let's bring out a half dozen dingbat hookers and say that Trump the candidate groped them, or patted their behind or slept with them once, or entered their dressing room at a pageant, etc.

Russia interfered in our election, so we need to investigate Trump before he is inaugurated. Oh look, here's a dossier that explains all about it.

Then we need to make sure Trump can't fill his administration so we get charges filed against almost every nominee that they either helped the Russians, were dealing with the Russians or talked at a party in the open to a Russian .

We insisted that a doddering old FBI guy, Mueller, could deliver all the fake goods on the Trump administration and Trump himself. Two years and $35M later, dammit, no Russia,

But wait, Trump said Ukraine and Biden. Biden just declared for the Democrat nomination, he's interfering in his own election. Impeach him

The Democrats do not live in the real world, they live in this fantasy world they believe they can control. So they've decided to put Biden up to get those 1976 Democrat working class people Hillary thought were too icky to pick up for support. Because Biden will get them and Trump will lose the election if he doesn't have those lunchbox union guys.

So they will lie and cover up and say anything to excuse away anything Joe does.

585 the Alzheimer's patient sees some dogs that aren't there.

Parkinson's. It's a persistence-of-vision side effect. Not "mental."
19 years ago, after a successful AAA repair, my dad was put in a dim room for a few days, and given a steady course of one of the newer hillbilly-heroin opioids, the newest miracle drug at the time. He recognized the "psychedelic" attributes right away, and bitched like hell. There was a blank wall, and he could see a movie about the Cossacks being projected on it. He assured me that it had a lot of dialogue, and a sound track. I thought someone had put "Taras Bulba" on the room TV, but he was sure, and adamant, and demanded to be relieved of the hallucinations.

The hospital thought this was crazy, and sent a psychiatry resident to talk it over with me. I said, my dad liberated a death camp, got strafed by jets, and targeted by cruise missiles and IRBM's -- all before he was 22. He's seen the real thing, and does not need the LSD experience. And the doctor said, well we have never had a complaint before. People seem to like it.

This made up my mind about "my" generation, and most generations.
