The Morning Report - 3/6/20

sunshbz.jpg

Good morning, kids. Friday, and the fallout over Senator Chuck "Kid Twist" Schemer's very public and open threat of violence against Justices Kavanaugh and Gorsuch is still smoldering. Given the nature of the Swamp, as well as the presidential race and coronavirus in the news cycle, I'm kind of surprised. That said, and with the weekend here, the cynic in me expects this to be forgotten come Monday, but who knows. Majority leader Mitch McConnell, laconic and jowly though his delivery may be, nevertheless ripped Schemer from the well of the Senate, reading his"shameful" threats into the record. With one hand dripping with rhetorical blood (for now) and the other clutching a rhetorical smoking gun (ibid), the execrable paskudnyak tried defending his comments until he saw the he couldn't, and then conveniently claimed he "misspoke." Funny how Leftists, to paraphrase Churchill, are always either at your throat or at your feet.

David Harsanyi in the NY Post notes:

...Schumer doesn't have the power to follow through on any threats, thankfully. His attack, like many less obvious ones, is just part of the left's concerted effort to delegitimize the court, denigrate its justices and undermine the legality of its decisions. This isn't surprising; the Constitution - and the jurists who are inclined to uphold it - are the biggest impediments to the progressive agenda. So expect a lot more of this.

But what Harsanyi misses is that his words have the power to motivate individuals like Dick Durbin-linked would be mass-assassin James Hodgkinson.

As I reported yesterday, when even ultra-Leftist Laurence Tribe, who is a close friend of Schemer, was outraged by the comments, you know he knows he stepped in it. But, the fact that he said what he said and then doubled down proves that he felt comfortable thinking he had the media in his pocket as well as a GOP that would huff, puff and then roll over, which is the usual way these things have gone since time immemorial. But this is the age of miracles and wonders; that is, the age of Trump. While I certainly do not expect what Mark "Great One" Levin is calling for, there is a definite hue and cry coming up from the GOP for, at a minimum, a vote to censure and condemn Schemer. At least one former US attorney rightly claims that the threats "may very well be criminal." They sure as hell sounded like that to me. I too, Senator, "am from Brooklyn."

22 Friday, no rain. We've already set records for rainfall.
On the political front, we need to spend the next 8 months consolidating wins. The dems and the media are exposed as corrupt and incompetent. Time to expand the right by reeling in sensible people in leftist enclaves. Hold up pictures of all the crazies, fro Fauxahontas to Bernie, Schumer, to Schiff, to Nadler, to mental defective Biden. And not just the recent stuff. Go back to his first run for president. Continuously identify the Mueller investigation as proving the Russia hoax was a hoax. We are in a position of strength and the enemy is incompetent.

Even ignoring to reference to 'not seeing it coming' which is pretty much the experience that Steve Scalise had, referring to the two Associate Justices by simply their last name is really pretty juvenile

39 Going to jail should be scary prospect for the teacher who had sex with the kids. And some men can joke about "If only we had hot teachers who wanted to have sex with students when I was in school." And no, the woman is not hot and makes it completely egregiously wrong (aside from the fact that NO teacher should be having sex with an underage student) is that these were special ed students, Having a son on the autism spectrum who is more na´ve than his age would suggest, I think she took horrible advantage of special ed students-who can be often be very vulnerable and don't understand relationship sometimes. She abused their trust.

86 Adam Mill's article about stagflation is well thought out, but he's wrong, mainly because he completely misdiagnoses the causes of the problem in the 1970's. Energy costs were the driver of economic misery that entire decade - it started in '73, with the oil embargo after the Yom Kippur war. After that fell apart, the energy shortage was still exacerbated by incredibly foolish US energy policies, especially under Jimmy Carter, who announced restrictions on Nat Gas usage because we would run out of everything in 9 years! (Even at the time everyone in the industry knew he was an idiot) THEN came the Iranian revolution, and NEW oil disruptions, with a new price spike applied to the entire economy, at the same time as Jimmy Carter's disastrous financial policies were spiking inflation here in the US.

NOTHING today is like that scenario - oil prices are low, and thanks to fraccing, are certain to stay that way for a long time to come. Nat gas is available for cheap and easy energy production in almost unlimited supply. Manufacturing might face a hickup, but as those facilities are moved back to the US it's going to create a boom, not a collapse.

The only way Stagflation ever comes back is if the Democrats win and put all of the old failed policies back in place, especially their green nightmare.

That, or they're offered as a cheap fig-leaf for behavior everyone--including the perpetrator--knows is puny, avoidable, and not worthy of serious consideration. I think this is why the right needs to embrace identity politics a bit more.

Next two SCOTUS picks are women.

Next Republican nominee for president is a woman.

Several or all of them are minorities.

It's not about neutering the left's attacks. That won't work. It's about amplifying the hypocrisy so that as many people as possible can hear it.

After more than four years of "We need a woman to be in charge," Republicans start pushing forward women and the Left starts calling them all sexless cunts. That'll be eye-opening for a sliver of the wine mom population.

Good question. As I recall, there were a number of diseases that made their way into the US from central and south America right after Obama declared open borders in 2014, and as such, the news coverage kinda disappeared.

And that's the problem: these aren't being covered in order to assist us in assessing the threat/changing behavior that might put us at risk, it's covered or *covered up* depending on the associated political implications.

the GDP. A lot of people feel secure holding cash as a hedge against

flooding back into the market." from that Stagflation article

"they" have been inflating since 1913 ... grabbed people's gold in the 30's and off any gold standard completely with Nixon. Reagan brought on the magic of deficit spending, then the dotcom/real-estate bubbles popped, and since TARP and ZIRP/QE ... an even crazier period of stealing from (cash) savers, driving the consumer to buy on credit and all others into stocks.

Many say next is some sort of crypto currency, but it will be the USD, not the others. idk, but DEflation is not bad, except they put so many in debt, that much rides on continuing inflation in assets. Housing bubble popped when any sign of deflation showed up after people with no credit were buying multiple houses .... (TheBigShort movie explains).

John Law and the Assignat fiasco in France taught us that there is only one money: that which is accepted for the payment of taxes. If the treasury accepts cryptos for tax payments, they can become money. If they don't, then cryptos can be a tradeable asset but will never be money.

And the economy should be naturally somewhat deflationary. People running businesses and laboratories continually invent new machines, new processes, new materials, etc. that reduce costs and increase efficiency. That should lead to mild price deflation in most existing goods as competition increases. That we have inflation instead of stability or mild deflation is an indication of how much of our productivity - that is, wealth - has been stolen.

Same is true in CO. Legislation has been introduced to impose a public option health insurance plan that would lead to an estimated 40% decrease in hospital reimbursements and up to $50,000 per day fines on hospitals who don't accept those patients.

Insurance plans would be compelled to include the plan if they want to continue selling any insurance in the state, and premiums will be set by the insurance commissioner.

Essentially a big step toward state takeover of both the insurance industry and the hospital industry. Proponents say this will make healthcare more affordable.

I suspect this is a camel's nose under the tent - not for healthcare, but for taxes. CO has two saving graces that have thus far survived colonization from the west coast:
- TABOR (balanced-budget and debt-avoidance law)
- Flat income tax

The Left despises these, but the voters have refused to budge on it. And these are two things that are constitutional, and so the legislature can't do what they usually do and just implement it anyway.

By tying it to "healthcare for OUR PEOPLE," they will be able to corrode the taxpayer protections that kept this state out of penury.

And it will be cheaper, Muldoon. Eventually. You won't get care quickly or effectively or well, but it will be cheaper. Once they take it over (and thus there is no competition), costs will come down. And health will decline.

He didn't say a winning percentage majority(in what I read), he said "more delegates".

380 "That we have inflation instead of stability or mild
deflation is an indication of how much of our productivity - that is,
wealth - has been stolen." Posted by Mannix

YES, very big point that people don't see ... Government and Welfare state has grown as the middle class has been squeezed.

Quality of Life has improved for all ... BUT the Uber Rich have gained most power ... government backed their gambles (Greenspan Put still works, now more than ever) by guaranteeing inflation, bailing out as needed.

Billionaires like Trump built things, many billionaires just played the markets, extracted a lot of the wealth via leverage and an unregulated (quadrillion dollar) derivative market. Middle America provided a steady stream of investment real money (out of paychecks) while LTCM gambled at 300:1 and then got the bailout for their millionaire investors.

It won't be easy to unwind ... Trump is all for the low/zero rate game (actually negative in terms of inflation) ... really has no choice at least till next term. Debt has to be restructured, or we go full QE. I want a "reset" tied to a balanced budget amendment ... can't see it happening though.

Maybe. The purpose of the Bloomberg "campaign" was to keep a Deep State favorite in the bullpen just in case. Biden is preferred even to Bloomberg precisely because the former has dementia and can be manipulated into wars, one-sided trade deals and open borders. Hell, Biden is doddering enough not to require bribes...

As to Schumer: he should be expelled, straight up. After watching the video, it's obvious he was inciting violence against the USSC justices who don't get their minds right. Given the state of the Banana Empire, though, even a censure is unlikely. McConnell, despite all his bad positions, does value the vestigial U.S. Constitution and this has outraged him. So maybe there is some hope there.

I'm sure he will. Bernie has got to love the adulation from the kids. Think he's happy to spur the radical movement, he's just not all that interested in being the one to actually implement it. He'll leave that for his acolytes like AOC.

Well, nobody keeps their presidential campaign running, including running ads, just to "help other Democrats get elected." That's what PACs are for.

Bloomberg is planning something.

478 Go back and look at the incumbent Presidents who lost reelection.
It's only in extraordinary circumstances.

That's why the Dems put all their eggs in the impeachment basket

So yeah, they start with 43%. So?

But what have they delivered for the 8% in the middle?

Think about it: Biden is running for office on not one single accomplishment--he ran for Senator 40 years ago, he's never had a seriously contested election since, and he was handed the VP job.

No bills he sponsored
No causes he champions
No leadership in anything at all

He's Bob Dole without the war heroism, legislative accomplishments, or personality.

480 Gotta give props to Biden, his campaign and the DNC for taking a guy who looked like roadkill and within a few days making him the heavy favorite to win the Presidency.

First, Old Joe had to have a strong SC debate performance which he didn't seem capable of. The guy rose to the moment and did great. Then he had to not only win SC but do so by a decent margin. Well, he demolished expectations and won by 30.

Then the Biden campaign needed Mayor Pete and Klobuchar out and Warren to stay in for Super Tuesday. They both bow out on separate days to max out the media attention/good publicity. Warren continues even though she had no money. Super Tuesday ends up being a killshot for Old Joe, who overperformed everywhere.

Biden did all this with zero money and zero campaign staffing. People just love the guy personally and that likability is the perfect matchup for a President the majority of people hate.

You would NEVER see the GOP or a Republican candidate who could execute a plan like this. Trump can't even handle a virus issue properly, stumbling and bumbling with every statement he makes.

482 Interesting coronavirus tidbit. There is an Italian paper reporting the Pope was tested but it came back negative. The Vatican, however, was totally silent on the matter and wouldn't confirm the report as of yesterday. Commie Pope has been ill for just about a week now. I don't like him, but don't wish death, you know. He had part of a lung removed when he was young so any serious respiratory illness, corona or just the flu, could be bad news for him.

Donnie Two Scoops sounds more incompetent dementia-ridden than Old Joe when talking about the Virus. He inspires no confidence that he knows what he's doing.

Biden will lay waste to him like he did Paul Ryan.

486 461 Was reading about flu mortality: he DHS estimates are suspect, since they appear to derive from a 1999 analysis that was based on the 1997 US population of 265 million. By 2005 the US population was about 295 million

Related to this, an article explaining how CDC stats lie. Flu deaths are not as common as claimed.

Constitutional Health
How Many People Actually Die From the Flu Each Year?

https://tinyurl.com/y7cdaa7w

From the article

The first number is the flu and pneumonia grouped together; it is huge. The third is pneumonia alone. It is huge too. The second is influenza itse and it's very small.

There are some 200 different viruses that cause influenza-like illnesses, and most of them aren't the flu. About 80 percent of these flu-like illnesses are caused by something other than influenza. Yet the CDC puts them all in the same category and uses them to boost their statistics. There's even been a shift in the language on their website toward the use of influenza-like illness instead of influenza or flu.
