What was it Charles Schumer said...? "Let me tell you: You take on the intelligence community -- they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you." And the intelligence community is the Democrat Establishment, and the Democrat Establishment is the intelligence community. As Bernie Sanders Pushed for Closer Ties, Soviet Union Spotted Opportunity Previously unseen documents from a Soviet archive show how hard Mr. Sanders worked to find a sister city in Russia when he was a mayor in the 1980s. Moscow saw a chance for propaganda. The mayor of Burlington, Vt., wrote to a Soviet counterpart in a provincial city that he wanted the United States and the Soviet Union to "live together as friends." Unbeknown to him, his desire for friendship meshed with the efforts of Soviet officials in Moscow to "reveal American imperialism as the main source of the danger of war." That mayor was Bernie Sanders, and the story of his 1988 trip to the Soviet Union has been told before. But many of the details of Mr. Sanders’s Cold War diplomacy before and after that visit -- and the Soviet effort to exploit Mr. Sanders's antiwar agenda for their own propaganda purposes -- have largely remained out of sight. The New York Times examined 89 pages of letters, telegrams and internal Soviet government documents revealing in far greater detail the extent of Mr. Sanders's personal effort to establish ties between his city and a country many Americans then still considered an enemy despite the reforms being initiated at the time under Mikhail S. Gorbachev, the Soviet general secretary. They also show how the Kremlin viewed these sister city relationships as vehicles to sway American public opinion about the Soviet Union. "One of the most useful channels, in practice, for actively carrying out information-propaganda efforts has proved to be sister-city contact," a Soviet Foreign Ministry document provided to Yaroslavl officials said. Remember this sobering fact, people:
Communists play the long game. Always have. They are incredibly wrong, but also incredibly patient. Most communist revolutions are remembered by outsiders as happening "suddenly," but in reality they also took years (decades!) of patient waiting before they were unleashed: Russian Revolution: Started in 1905 with a failed coup, old ruler overthrown in 1917, but civil war not completed and power not solidified until 1924. Total time: 19 years. Chinese Revolution: Mao's insurgency started in 1922 with the Long March -- and didn't reach victory until 1949. Total time: 27 years. Vietnam: Communist-led war to oust colonialist and install a "dictatorship of the proletariat" started way back in 1945; didn't achieve power over the whole country until 1975. Total time: 30 years. The same is true for most other communist revolutions. These are the opposite of "suddenly." They are long-term. An ideology that festers, festers, and waits like a deep-seated low-level infection, waiting for the host to become weak. The US had had this infection dating way back to the ver beginning of the 1900s. They have tried, over and over and over, and been rebuffed each time -- but they will continue trying until they either succeed, or are crushed and flee with their tails between their legs. But even then. they'll just go back into hiding and wait another 30 years. Is there any cure for the communism delusion? I'm not sure. It may haunt humanity forever, because each new generation has to learn the hard way. ++++++++++ Yes, they play the long game. The long game they played against the West is still being played out, a generation after the USSR fell. We didn't get here by accident. It was entirely the Soviets, but they were happy to help and guide it. I strongly recommend that everyone watch an interview/documentary with a for KGB spook called Yuri Bezmenov (he defected to the US) called "Deception was my job." He lays out a lot of what the USSR was doing over here, and it was incredibly long-term. Realisticaly? No. Theoretically, sure. You do the same thing to Communism that you did to Fascism. 174 I would say that Poland and Hungary, as well as some others in the region, have been cured of the Communist delusion. Similarly, while nations like China and Vietnam still call themselves "communist", it's just a word, and in many ways they're now more capitalist then we are.
China has reverted back to Empire, now, and effectively has a reformed and updated version of the same government they've had for 2300 years. "Communism" is just a minor affectation of the current dynasty. Posted by: Tom Servo at March 06, 2020 02:09 PM (Kpl3J) At some point from right now to the next 200 years, the "Mao Dynasty" will also be gone, and the trappings of communism will go with it. The Ukraine is one place Putin is least likely to be involved. The have
their own corruption pipeline there, stealing gas from the Russians. Its why Putin is building alternate routes, to freeze out Ukrainian theft. An all the West is stealing through the Ukraine, from the foreign aid and loans they arrange for the country. The company stealing gas from the pipeline is owned by the guy who was the environmental minister for the President of Ukraine that's basically sought asylum from Vladimir Putin. Burisma is a huge "fake" natural gas company whose purpose is to own and fail to use lots of drilling permits that were issued to them by Yanukovych's government. The current government of Ukraine has been trying to investigate, but guess who got their prosecutor fired? Two guys, named Biden and Obama. Biden's on tape bragging about it. Obama just examines his fucking manicure and doesn't dignify anything with a response, he relies on fucking Mitt Romney to make excuses for Biden's corrupt bagman of a son. You can bet your bottom dollar that Putin STILL, to this day, has Bernie's file on his desk and all the blackmail-worthy dirt on him that they collected back then. The all-time funniest Sister-City debacle happened with Berkeley, CA, back in the '90s I think, when they declared that Berkeley was going to become sister cities with a Palestinian refugee camp. So cool! So avant-garde! Fantastic!
Many proclamations were made, as everyone slapped each other on the back with congratulations for being the hippest city activists ever. AND THEN... they sent a delegation over to "Palestine" to visit the sister city. When they got there, they found...nothing. Just rags and toilet paper caught on the branches of desiccated bushes in the desert, blowing in the hot wind. The camp had been dismantled, and the residents dispersed, and there was no one left. Posted by: it's me donna idk .. Trump declassified all that evidence (which they hid because it was eternally "under investigation" and would harm investigations, etc.) ... but we never got to see anything. Barr was supposedly able to access it all since it was declassified, and supposedly use it to bring prosecutions. But now we wonder if Barr mostly gives good speeches ... but is afraid of the Schumer type threats (six ways to Sunday to get you, you won't know what hit you). Durham may be putting it all together ... Barr seems unwillingly to attempt anything unless it is a slam dunk ... and since he is up against DeepState (assuming he is just not another #2weeks tool) .. then nothing is a slam dunk. The coup can run for years ... malicious prosecutions by the barrel, but Barr is super careful ... have to cross every t, then have it checked by the bureaucrats, then run it by the media ... tick tock Posted by: illiniwek at March 06, 2020 02:25 PM (Cus5s) 281

The issue is it preys on certain parts of human nature that you don't want to get rid of, like compassion, some you wish you could get rid of, like laziness, and another you couldn't possibly get rid of - namely stupidity.
Posted by: ... at March 06, 2020 02:22 PM (Sq18x) Also ignorance. I am not sure about the persistence of the ideology as a real thing if everyone knew all the whys and wherefores and history of the thing. Part of the real problem is that the educational apparatus is pro communism. If you only teach the good parts and none of the draw backs, it kind of distorts things. While it may be invitingly packaged, in practice it does not work with human nature. Capitalism has the opposite problem. Posted by: Aetius451AD at March 06, 2020 02:27 PM (XyVor) 289

One of my fantasies: During the debate, after Biden gives a rambling non-answer to a question, Trump holds up his hands and says, "Sorry guys, but this is really important. Our nation needs to know." Then, Trump pulls a Dementia test out of his pocket and starts quizzing Biden. "What year is it? Who is President? What town do you live in?" etc I would build a monument to Trump to last the ages.
