123 Good Morning Morons today is Sunday, March 1, 2020 On this date in 1692 Sarah Good, Sarah Osborne and Tituba are brought before local magistrates in Salem Village, Massachusetts, beginning what would later become known as the Salem witch trials. But contrary to popular movies no witches were burned in the colonies. Mostly they were hanged.

After my Jack the Ripper: The Whitechapel Muscial, I once thought about writing the book and lyrics for a musical about the witch trials, so I have a number of books about it. And living in northeastern MA, Salem is only about 40 minutes away. But I never could come up with a handle on the thing. And Salem. . .the world's biggest 24-hour cosplay place in the world. Yuck.

The goal is to cause enough fragmentation that the Dems stagger into the convention and have a screeching catfight, where they will go full socialist and pick comrade Bernie. Which will repel millions of Dem voters.

Oh, by 'the dumb one', i mean Biden. THAT dumb one.

Also, online i am now being bombarded with Bernie ads. Good Lord, what an eerie approach: "Listen, I need you to do me a favor." Dude, I don't know you. And your accent alone is enough to drive me away.

While they will never, ever admit this, I think they already know they're going to lose, big time, no matter which one of these chuckleheads they pick. Given that, losing with Biden keeps their existing old boy graft network in place, while losing with Sanders means that they're out on their ears, replaced by a bunch of dull-witted Portland baristas and AOC clones.

"The Fed" has been the problem for 35 years, or 106 years. But currently easing (or at least pausing any raises) will "help". But they time the markets and it may have been wise to let the selling wave go, then come in to save the day, rather than fight the "Pandemic Fear" pushed by the crazed ones.

Druckenmiller says fed would be political if they act just so they don't look like they are being bullied by Trump. idk what is next, "they" might want to tank markets ... anything to stop Trump. But the monetary bubble is a real thang ... we need to get past the election though, before we can deal with it, cuz people vote for Santa Claus promises.

this (YouTube link) is from a month ago ... but Druckenmiller notes the tough position Powell is in ... "Yellen said she was going to hike four times, but she did not hike until after Trump's election".

True ... Fed tried to help Hillary ... hikes started right after the election 2016, and probably influenced the 2018 election. But all we hear is "Russia influenced our elections". (not to mention the 24/7 smear campaign against Trump by MSM and Hollywood, etc.)

If you had high BP but now have it under control due to meds, exercise, etc. does that mean you're still in the higher risk category? OBJECTION! Assumes facts not in evidence.

There is no proof that the Fed has any idea how to build a stable economy, much less cleverly manipulate one.

The Fed's raising interest rates came as a response to rising wages, which were interpreted as "inflation." This was because the Fed assume that real wages would never rise again.

But they did, because Trump's border controls and on-shoring actually caused the labor market to tighten.

This used to be normal, but since the Fed has taken it as a given that it's *impossible* for blue-collar wages to ever increase, it had to have been inflation, and therefore needed to be swiftly crushed.

There's also the issue of unwinding all the paper they bought under Obama to juice stocks. So that will also cause a selloff.

Thus, tried and tested tools sat and rusted while the working classes were told globalism is inevitable.

Trump and his team knew that was bullshit, but all the money men disagreed. Now they're helplessly watches as Trump's policies do things we've been told needed a magic wand:

Rising real wages for blue collar workers
Full employment for same
Skilled labor wages outpacing useless office drones
Surges in American manufacturing

Next up: Rising birth rate as booming pay scales make families more attractive and the American Dream is once more something people believe in.

Posted by: Mr. Peebles at March 01, 2020 07:53 AM (oVJmc)

Sadly, you never know who these people are. Most cases will look like a cold or mild flu and ignored. I went to an auction (relatively crowded event) where people were talking about this and acting as if a corona virus patient would have the mark of Cain. The reality was that nobody in that room had the slightest idea of who the people next to them or the row in front of them had been with or if they had traveled to Japan or Venice or Korea. None at all. The people sort of knew each other from other similar events, but probably couldn't tell you last names, occupations, or hometowns of the others.

The idea that anyone's circle of acquaintances has no people who could be in harm's way is probably not reasonable. Kids and grandkids might get mild cases and no one will be any the wiser til great grandpa gets it.

I'm not doing any more than extra handwashing and spraying a few doorknobs with disinfectant.

I think a more significant outcome was learning that the "fiscal conservatives" were complete and utter frauds. Ryan's "Roadmap" was b.s. from top to bottom. Romney's cut from the same cloth. These guys would not only be fine approving bloated deficits, but happy to boost spending for Planned Parenthood in the bargain because "that's not the hill to die on," or some other nonsense.

Ryan was one of the biggest con jobs the GOP ever inflicted on the base. I still remember a 2010 interview Hugh Hewitt had with him, after the Tea Party driven election results put the GOP in charge, and for once that windbag Hewitt was doing the right thing, hectoring Eddie Munster to follow through on promises to make deep cuts. You could tell that Paulie Peanuts was really uncomfortable which gave me a heads up on what really lay ahead. It was downhill from there. Thank God the voters rejected him and Mutt Rombley.

I went to the Walmart yesterday here in AZ to pick up my weekly groceries and stuff. Seemed to be normal there. No face masks on anybody, shelves were fully stocked, nobody's cart was piled high with multiples of anything, there were the usual number of people there. Seemed like business as usual.

I'm also curious to see if this virus can stand the AZ weather. We had 75 yesterday, will have 78 today, and it'll be in the triple digits by April or May. Hopefully this thing will have burned out long before then, but until then, people here don't seem to be panicking. Probably a big disappointment to the MSM and the Dims (but I repeat myself).

It's also likely you didn't get diversity points to encourage "women of color" to participate in science. I'm betting AOC did, and was celebrated as a pioneer in the field, a role-models for others.

I see that stuff in our local schools, where we have to pretend that women and minorities in student government are brave pioneers, rather than the norm for the last 25 years. When my eldest was in schools I saw an article in the school paper celebrating this nonsense and was moved to dust off my old yearbook.

274 Steyer illustrates the massive difference between the so-called robber barons of the 19th century and today's billionaires. The wealthy elites of the past used their money for tangible institutions that everyone could use. They built schools, universities, libraries, concert halls, churches, hospitals, etc. Today's elite spend their money on left wing political issues such as climate change, gun control, trans silliness, etc. The elites of the past gave; the elites of today try to control. Think of all the productive things that Steyer could have done with that $200 million.

I saw a Chinese kid yesterday wearing a black mask. The man with him (father?) didn't have one. It could have been a warming mask because the win chill was pretty ferocious and with the massive influx of Chinese students masks like that aren't uncommon.

Some of the apartments that cater to students have signs in Mandarin out front.

As for prep, after the Great Ice Storm (no power for a week) we have a generator and a rack of canned food in case supplies are disrupted for a couple of weeks. I've been topping off our reserves, but nothing radical.

As a matter of fact, his line about "where are you going to find these great angels that will order society for us" popped into my head yesterday. Don't ask me why, stuff like that happens to me all the time for no apparent reason....

Great clip of Milton Friedman (or as AOC called him Milton Keynes) on the Phil Donahue show:

Yes, that's true. However, Andrew Carnegie was not an "Orthodox" believer and didn't go to church for years, but he still saw the value in religion for helping to make communities and individuals better.

I don't know but I imagine Steyer and Bloomberg regard themselves as a sort of god and think disaparagingly of people who need the crutch of religion.

I've been watching Planet Earth's latest series, which has been pretty cool despite the burning hair. The last one ended with a plea to stop deforestation. For a Brit to complain about Africans trying to develop their economy and encourage other rich first worlders to try to stop them...isn't it a bit "I got mine already so F you"?

I use a lot of stamps because I send out cards-signed by our congregation if they feel that their loves ones wouldn't mind-to let the know we are thinking of them and praying for them. It's the ministry of little notes-an idea given to my by a lovely elderly congregation members years ago who has since gone to be with the Lord because she sent cards to people for everything.
