Corrupt Baltimore Mayor Who Scammed Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars from City's Health Care Funds Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

Former Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh was sentenced to three years in federal prison Thursday after she pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and tax evasion related money she received from sales of her self-published children's book series. Prosecutors said Pugh, a Democrat who served as Baltimore's mayor from 2016 to 2019, received more than $850,000 in sales from her "Healthy Holly" books to the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) and other entities she was connected to. ... Pugh admitted in her plea deal that she double-sold books to multiple purchasers and also accepted payments for books that were never delivered. The former mayor also admitted to using the fraudulent proceeds to funnel straw donations to her mayoral campaign and to fund the purchase and renovation of a house in Baltimore.

After he came to power, yes. Owning a copy of the book was all but required after the Nazis came to power. Before that, however, he lived off of donations from wealthy fans. According to William Shirer, he was constantly arguing with the Weimar version of the IRS, since the only income he declared was his book royalties (which would have been impossible to hide).
Something interesting - Hitler declined his government salary throughout his entire political career.
On another note, the usual path with sales of books by politicians is to buy the books in bulk, and then give them away at fund-raising events.

A former mayor of Baltimore, white boy Martin O'Malley 1999-2007) helped pave the way for the cavalcade of crooked, incompetent, racial politics based, anti-police office holders since his term.
O'Malley (D) wanted to improve his crime statistics so he could move up in the world (he was elected governor of MD, had a failed campaign for President).
He ordered the city police to sweep up every black man they found on the street after dark. To get back out of jail, the men had to sign a form forgoing their right to sue for wrongful arrest. Thousands arrested, and rearrested, month after month. This improved crime numbers, and utterly alienated the local population. The hostility and suspicion were used by later dunderheads to get elected as mayor, DA, etc. on anti-police (and implicit anti-white) platforms. That's where this crop of extra-stupid idiots came from.

Greedy stupid piece of shit. She wanted the whole 100%, not just the 25% the publisher would giver her. And she decided to write a shit book, and not pay proper money to a ghost writer for something that could be passed off as a quality product. And knowing the scam, that the books would end up in the landfill, she simply decided to pocket the money, and not send the books. Just greedy and stupid.
Do it right, and you can do it right out in the open, and no one will ever question it.

They attendees do nothing but bitch about how " racist" Charlotte is because many downtown restaurants added a surcharge to their bills. The reason being that blacks are notoriously bad tippers and the wait staffs complained about it or refused to show up that week. I wonder how that will compare to being outright mugged and assaulted.
