Support for impeachment has fallen sharply:
In Hennepin and Ramsey counties, seven in ten voters disapprove of Trump's performance. But in the metro suburbs, which are expected to be heavily targeted by both parties this November, 54 % voiced approval. The president's support was strongest in southern Minnesota, where nearly six in ten voters approve of his performance. Voters in northern Minnesota were evenly split, 48% to 48%. The president got higher marks for his handling of the economy and jobs, which is emerging as a central theme of his re-election pitch. Half of the voters polled said he is doing a good job in that area, while 43 % disapproved.
A Minnesota Poll conducted weeks before the House voted to formally authorize proceedings found that Minnesotans were evenly split, with 47% of voters approved of the idea. Now, in the wake of the U.S. Senate’s voted to acquit the president, 42% of voters think impeachment was a good idea. Half were opposed... About six in ten independents said they opposed impeachment.These numbers are not great, but they do show Minnesota -- a Blue State, last time around -- is in play. Obama won it by 250,000 votes; Trump lost it in 2016 by 40,000. I can't imagine that Trump has lost support since 2016, given his accomplishments and the fact that the world has not blown up the eighteen times predicted. This is a group that's going to be in a big pickle should The Bern get the nomination. They're mostly UMC bitches who are EXTREMELY class conscious. The suburbs have always been decently Red. I live in them.
Minneapolis and Saint Paul are completely blue.
"Outstate" (everywhere else) is purplish-leaning-red.
Of 87 counties, 9 were blue, 78 were red.
That's the way it's been for the 29 years I've lived here. Using Horde year-counting techniques.
I'm not saying Minnesota is not in play, because it was in play last time. Trump lost by 44K, but the Real Republican McMuffin got 53K. Alleged-libertarian 112K, Green 36K.
So we were a Red state that voted for Clinton due to all the third-party-ism.
And we look no different this year based on that polling.
The problem is that we are the John McCain of voting. Everyone wants to be a fcuking maverick.
It'll come down to abject stupidity again; the winner will be the one with the fewest third-party defectors.

The interesting thing is that Trump appears to be acting as if they were in play, or at least doing his best to challenge these states' uber-Lefty governance. Examples include: DHS pushing back on NY non-cooperation on drivers license inf (Trusted Traveler, etc.), Trump last week using EPA (IIRC) to finally) redirect water back to Central Valley CA farmers. He's also warning he will do something about homelessness.
Wonder if those who are not radicalized will be red-pilled by him barging into their states and fixing things their sweet-talking Dem overlords have been promising to fix, or forcing on residents over their objections, will be red-pilled?
He's taking the fight to these blue states, not writing them off.

Look at his rally's. It's a lot of young whitey products of a failed education system and angry Latinos who hate capitalism. They are well organized and are picking up a lot of small donations. If they get a Party machine and MSM to whitewash their policies it could be a formidable organization. Combined with the fact that Republicans are notoriously hard to get to the polls, and it could get uncomfortable.

If Bernie runs third-party, Trump takes at least 45 states.
Maybe all 50. Even California and Illinois would be in possible play in that scenario, I think.
Hillary won California by 61-32, meaning that if all other factors stayed the same, and Bernie's third-party bid took 15%, Trump would win the state.
Plus I think Trump's support is likely higher in California than it was in 2016. Maybe significantly higher.

The problem is that they won't. We think about the Ds as being a monolithic machine that turns out D votes on command regardless of the candidate. However, even with the Clinton machine, Hillary couldn't get the votes she needed in Philly and Broward County.
If the Dem base doesn't like a candidate, then they find they have better things to do that get on that bus to go to the polls.
I've watched Dems miss their vote targets in Florida about 4 out of the last 10 election cycles. If you can't get blacks and hispanics to vote for the first woman president, you sure as hell won't get them voting for an old white communist.

In Vermont, Sanders didn't have a choice. The Vermonters might be Commies, but they're attached to their guns. I have no doubt that Sanders would be as anti-2nd Amendment as Gov. Blackface if he was elected president. After all, he changed his tune about open borders.
I just think it's amusing that Bloomie thinks Sanders stance on guns is going to hurt him. The blue staters will ignore it and the red staters will like Sanders more.
