"That's Where The Crime Is:" 2015 Audio Unearthed of Mike Bloomberg Declaring That You Can Just "Xerox the Description" of Criminals, They're "Male, Minority, and 16-25"

I guess this is an area that Bloomberg can claim to be "moderate" on.

Three problems:

1, This isn't a great position in a party which is majority minority and which is also driving hard to decriminalize crime itself.

2, not even Bloomberg's would-be NeverTrump fans can get behind this, as they're NeverTrump precisely because they accept 99% of the left's most extremist race-hustler positions. (It would be impolite to argue with their liberal friends, colleagues, and side-pieces about things that are No Longer Open to Debate.)

3, Mike Bloomberg has already denounced his previous crime-control strategies.

So now Bloomberg just has the soundbite to defend.

Buh Trump's Tweets...!

An unearthed recording from a 2015 Aspen Institute event reveals former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg defending the city’s stop-and-frisk policy by justifying police disproportionately stationed in minority neighborhoods "because that's where all the crime is."

"Ninety-five percent of your murders -- murderers and murder victims -- fit one M.O.” Bloomberg said in audio released by podcaster Benjamin Dixon. “You can just take the description, Xerox it and pass it out to all the cops. They are male, minorities, 16 to 25."

By the way, that's not an M.O. An M.O. is how a criminal executes a crime, not his racial and age demographics.

Just wanted to pile on.

Bloomberg continued.

That's true in New York, that’s true in virtually every city (inaudible). And, that's where the real crime is. You’ve got to get the guns out of the hands of the people that are getting killed. You want to spend the money on a lot of cops in the streets. Put those cops where the crime is, which means in minority neighborhoods. So one of the unintended consequences is people say, 'Oh my God, you are arresting kids for marijuana that are all minorities.' Yes, that's true. Why? Because we put all the cops in minority neighborhoods. And the way you get the guns out of the kids' hands is to throw them up against the walls and frisk them.

In fairness, I don't think Bloomberg intends to reserve his "just throw them up against the wall and frisk them to get the guns out of their hands" to black people alone. I think he intends to take it W I D E.

This past November, Bloomberg tried to immunize himself against attacks based on his record as the Stop and Frisk Mayor in a Black Lives Matter Party, by denouncing his prior positions. And also, impliedly, his prior results in maintaining the the low crime rates (established by Rudy Giuliani) in New York City.

"I was totally focused on saving lives. But as we know, good intentions aren't good enough. As crime continued to come down as we reduced stops -- and as it continued to come down during the next administration, to its credit -- I now see that we could and should have acted sooner, and acted faster, to cut the stops," Bloomberg said at East New York’s Christian Cultural Center.

"I can't change history. Today, I want you to know that I realize back then I was wrong, and I am sorry," he added.

One wonders why this tape leaked now.

And which campaign leaked it. Apparently the audio had been suppressed -- of course!

But someone at the Aspen Institute had a recorder going.

I'm guessing it was probably one of Joe Biden's people.

Earlier, Bloomberg had been hit with old allegations about his sexism.

Mike Bloomberg has on repeated occasions faced and fought allegations that he directed crude and sexist comments to women in his office, including a claim in the 1990s that he told an employee who had just announced she was pregnant to "kill it."

"He told me to 'kill it' in a serious monotone voice," the woman alleged in a lawsuit. "I asked 'What? What did you just say?' He looked at me and repeated in a deliberate manner 'kill it.'"

Bloomberg has repeatedly denied that specific allegation -- which arose in a discrimination lawsuit that was settled out of court. But over the years a number of women have alleged in legal filings that Bloomberg’s use of lewd comments around co-workers fostered a frat-like culture at the company he founded and still owns. Quotes attributed to him in court filings include, "I’d like to do that piece of meat," and "I would DO you in a second."

Court records reviewed by ABC News indicate that at least 17 women have taken legal action against the company over the past three decades, with three of the cases specifically naming Bloomberg for his role in the company’s culture. None of the cases made it to trial – four were either dismissed or withdrawn, while five were settled out of court. Three cases remain active.

Buh Trump's Tweets...!

It will be interesting to see how the supposedly anti-racism and anti-sexism Democrat Party reacts to Bloomberg.

Which would, in turn, make them unelectable nationally.

83 Bloomberg's faults have been out there.

I still maintain that he is not running for real. He is running so that he can support the Dem-media industrial complex.

His dump of hundreds of millions of dollars keeps many leftist orgs afloat. He could not donate outright to these groups but he can spend and buy services from them all day long.

Mike Cernovich who is a bit of an internet gadfly says don't underestimate someone willing to spend $10B for the Presidency.

After much prayerful soul-searching and following solemn discussions with my family, I've reached the painful, heart-wrenching decision to support as President whoever is the democrat Party's nominee in the general election against President Trump.
I think its important to note that each one of us has a sacred duty to look inside our souls in search of what we will tell our grandchildren when history records what we did with our earthly concerns and stand before our Creator and answer for our worldly sins both of commission and omission as we seek the answers in the words of old, Protestant hymns to guide us on our our missions beneath the loving gaze of Providence
Amen.

If they had any sense, they'd have supported stop and frisk. Who suffers from gun violence, which occurs mostly in the ghetto?

Never mind gun control legislation; the guns in the ghetto are almost all illegal already. I recently read "Ghettoside," which reports that LAPD homicide cops were astonished to come across a homicide committed with a legally-acquired gun. Apparently, that hadn't happened in years.

Posted by: Deplorable Jay Guevara at February 11, 2020 02:20 PM (jpBkc)

150 You know this would be another thing about the media having become not the media but dnc staff.

When stop and frisk was being used you would hear that it was racist because whatever percentage of those stopped and frisked were minority and white were never stopped and frisked.

Except, it was as he said, it was in minority areas with crime.

If it was stopping and frisking glack guys who were walking Fifth Avenue, that would be racist, stopping black guys in their hood, not racist.

First of all, this is dumb. It depends on what area you're in. If you live in a white area the criminals will be male, white, 16-25. In the little town where I grew up, you could change that to 12-105. For the most part, our criminal element was entrenched, gang-related, and in the game for life. And there were no available "minorities" to fill these positions.

I suppose NY is different, but I'll bet there are plenty of neighborhoods that follow this description.

Secondly - if we are going to be frank about inner city crime, then - yes... most of it is committed by offenders who are racial minorities. And that the neighborhoods where they offend are the worst in a given city.

Whose fault is this? NYC has been a rotten Dem borough for the entire living memory of even the most 29+ among us.

Who made this problem?

I think it's the Party running this racist sumbitch for President.

193 A couple of points, since I used to actually do this for a living in my previous life:

1) It all depends on the demographics of the neighborhood. In a majority minority community, he's not necessarily wrong but even there it is more nuanced. There was a black neighborhood on my beat that was infamous for the crack houses, but if I saw a car-load of white folks from Richmond, IN, I knew they were up to no good and looked for a reason to stop them.

2) You can't just "stop and frisk" 16-25 year old males of a swarthy complexion without a reasonable suspicion of criminal activity. Being able to articulate why you interacted with somebody is important.

3) F*ck Bloomberg: your side's rules, dude.

It's worse than that. Black males 16-25 or so commit HALF of all murders. (Similarly, the major cause of death of black males 15-35 is homicide by other black males, per the CDC.)

Let's run the numbers. Blacks are ~13% of the population, so black males are ~6.5% of the population. Of course, that includes infants and geriatrics. Black males of the wonder years probably comprise~ 2% or less of the population - yet they are responsible for ~50% of the murders.

Those are the facts.

Without mass immigration and with abortion, still in the mid-teens. Margaret Sanger, the noted eugenicist, would be pleased at her handiwork.

Immigration has kept blacks in their place.

In the big NJ city I was born in and still work in, blacks are concentrated in the exact same neighborhoods they were concentrated in 50 YEARS AGO. Meanwhile, other neighborhoods have changed--dramatically.
The neighborhood I grew up in was Italian/Irish/Lebanese/ German, overwhelmingly Catholic, is now dominated by Arab Muslims--who were barely around 50 years ago....

386 think if you collapsed violent crime stats along similar lines for young males of all races, you'd come up with a similar breakdown to total population.
Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at February 11, 2020 02:52 PM (uKj5K)

?

If you just looked at the crime committed by all males between the ages of 16 to 25 and then broke that down by ethnicity you would see that one group is way out of line with their percentage of population in the country. I apologize if I am misunderstanding what you were saying.

387 I do not write Bloomberg off. If he is willing o spend a Billion, thats formidable. But, I think he matches up poorly with Trump, honestly.
Posted by: Nick in Tallahassee at February 11, 2020 02:51 PM (JRaU+)

I don't think he gets out of the dem party with the nomintion without 100% alienating the sanders wing of the party, ya know the 75% all all dem voters. LOL

Good luck mini

If any BernieBros were going to give in and vote for a Billionaire.....why not just vote for Trump?

At least Trump didn't do Sanders out of the nomination.

For sure... I spoke poorly. I meant that collapsing it to young black males as percentage of crime rate doesn't make a difference. It's all young males. I bet if you did it across the board, you'd find that blacks still do within a few points of 50.

No, not really. Not in incidence terms, certainly (i.e., number of murders as a proportion of population). Perhaps in absolute number terms, the favorite dodge of leftists trying to rebut such calculations. (Of course, by that standard, the most stolen car was the Ford Taurus, while Ferraris and Lamborghinis were relatively immune from theft.)

For example, whites are say ~80% of the population, making white males ~40% of the population, making white males of the wonder years ~13% of the population. Say they commit the remaining 50% of the murders. That's means they're over-represented as murderers by a factor of four, relative to their population. That's a far cry from black males, who are over-represented by a factor of 25.

390 I'm amazed so many here are so quick to write him off as completely unelectable. I think he has a way better shot than almost any other Democrat.

Posted by: Blago at February 11, 2020 02:48 PM (sjTfF)

He'd be a problem in the general election, and if he ran this way in 2016 he probably would have won- in the Republican Party, before losing to Hillary.

But being a Republican and wrapping your identity in being the successor to Giuliani absolutely destroys him among the black supremacist, uber woke base. He even supported the Iraq War! Him running as a Democrat is INSANE.

One thing, though: I'm not at all convinced his fortune is even legitimate, let alone self-made. Jeff Epstein rose to some pretty absurd heights too. And look at the people Bloomberg got photo time with:

391 Where's the lie? Blacks (sorry, *minorities*) commit the VAST MAJORITY of the crimes that we really care about, like robbery, rape, and murder.

Stop and frisk is a correct policy.

It is stupid beyond belief to reject good policy because it makes the Dems look racist.

Whites are likely less than 60% of the population now.

Read "The Color of Crime" by American Renaissance.

Blacks are just more violent, on average.

Yeah, I was consciously erring on the high side throughout. The remaining 50% of murders are not committed by whites either. Our friends from south of the border figure in there too.

397 High testosterone levels in black males is the reason for violence.

It is like high school gym class all the time.

Not excusing, not condoning, not saying it is acceptable. High testosterone and lack of focus among males nearly always results in conflict.

398 We are constantly told that Trump is a racist beyond the shadow of a doubt. Yet no one has ever produced a sound bite or tweet that is even as remotely as damning (or damning in any way) as what Bloomberg said here. Hell, they would impeach Trump again (and probably successfully remove him from office this time) if he were ever to say or tweet what Bloomberg actually said.

(On another note, what Bloomberg said--aside from the misuse of the term M.O.--can probably be solidly backed up by facts, if that were allowed.)

Maybe send the Natiy Guard in with white helmets and hickory sticks to let Booker on stage.
