Yep. One of my favorite passages in the Bible is when the Disciples ask Jesus about a terrible tragedy where a building collapsed on a bunch of people, killing them. The disciples asked whose fault was this, was it their sin that caused their death? Jesus said it straight and plain: "worry about your own sin, because none of you know when or how you'll die." Posted by: Northernlurker at January 27, 2020 04:37 PM (vk9rB) linked this earlier, too, but read it. Tells you all you need to know about Romney https://tinyurl.com/tmfk4um Media's 'Death By 1,000 Cuts' Strategy To Take Out Trump ...It's important to start with an understanding of why the media hate and fear President Trump with such unhinged ferocity... Let's first define the swamp to make sure we're on the same page: The swamp is Democrats, establishment Republicans, the politicized wing of the intelligence community, a majority of the "career" bureaucrats and other grifters (consultants, advisers, staffers, etc) who support them all, and the corporate media which serves as the marketing arm for the entire disgusting thing. Second let's recall why they all fear Trump so much: It's because they exist in the swamp as parasites, feeding off We The People who serve as their primary host. And Trump promised to drain their swamp, which would starve most of them out and leave them with nothing. So for the swamp and its many monsters and parasites, stopping Trump isn't a matter of principle. It's a matter of survival. and We need the conservative grassroots, conservative media, and the GOP to all stand up and say out loud that we see what the media is doing, and we aren't going to play along anymore. We are instead going to make the media the story and focus on their transgressions and partisan agenda. And until/unless we do that, it won't change. Yes we'll keep winning in the near term, but that's only because we have Trump in office kicking butt and taking names for us. In 2025 we won't have him anymore. And that's something else I've written about: that we should be focused on who will replace him before the Mitt Romneys and Jonah Goldbergs and Ana Navarros of the world start trying to decide for us in service to the swamp they've all long called home. h/t mollie h. When the newbies are punting you in the ribs, it's time to quit. Romney knows the Schiff/ Nadler tribunal is trash, and he doesn't care, because he is trash. Three points about his "virtue:"
1) Given how weakly he defended against Barack Obama, Romney clearly doesn't think all virtue needs to be protected. 2) Unlike Donald Trump, Mitt Romney made his money by shuffling around paper and putting people out of work. Call that smart, industrious, whatever. But it isn't incredibly righteous. 3) By far the most important: if you're part of a group but acting like the enemy, that makes you lower than the enemy. You're a spy, and don't even wear your colors as proudly as the Nazis and the Soviets wore theirs. You're a snake, and have no position to talk about anyone's morals. Posted by: trev006 at January 27, 2020 04:42 PM (OIinY) 87
If, as many in the House have asserted many times, the House is free to Impeach Trump again--why then do we need witnesses here?
Let the House--as they have claimed is their right-- bring new charges and call all the witnesses they want. But let us dispose of these charges just as nicely as the House constructed them. The Senate cannot stop the House from opening a new impeachment right this minute. What the House Democrats greatly fear, is the voters will in November. And so we see the lowly Mitt, debasing himself before House Democrats, tossing them a life preserver at the very moment their political ship has run aground. This butt clown is the proverbial "Piss on my leg and tell me it's raining". AOC has more scruples than him. She says she wants to do bat-shit crazy things and means it. Delecto talks a good line but when push comes to shove, it's always commity with him (a state or atmosphere of harmony or mutual civility and respect) at expense of what his professed leanings are. He never "Fights" for what he supposedly believes in. Utah, he's your fault. I said it a couple of days ago, I voted for him for Gov. in Mass. Within a couple of months, it was WTF? There seems to be some cognitive dissonance among Utah voters.
Trump crushed Clinton in Utah. Beat her by 18 points. Beat that little shitstain McMullin by 24. They knew Romeny was a hardcore NeverTrumper who would obstruct every single move of the guy they elected, and Pierre Delecto is in the Senate, anyway. This leads me to believe that Romney is safe in Utah, no matter what he does to the President. They knew that was coming, and didn't care, I think because Mitt Romney is the closest they've got to a King of the Latter-Day Saints. These are the grifters. They could give a flying eff about impeachment guilty/not guilty. This is all about positioning for personal benefit and power. Collins, Murkowski, now Romney do it every freaking time. They play both sides of the fence, collect their promises and then they are content.
Collins is facing a difficult election, so she is pushing McConnell to give her more of the Republican purse. Murkowski is likely pushing for more Alaskan ear marks. Romney is likely lobbying to gain a more senior committee position. These people are PIECES OF EXCREMENT and need to be taken out whenever possible. Posted by: Somewhere on Ventura Highway at January 27, 2020 04:54 PM (M+Lyo) Obama's lackluster support for Biden has to be part of this. I'm sure he'd throw Biden under the bus and arrange an party with Epstein afterwards, just to avoid literally his entire administration facing prison time. The problem isn't just that Biden is corrupt, it's that he and his trashy spawn are impossible to cover for. The Trump team already has everything they need to indict both of them, at least as long as they don't face an Obamajudge. If we had a non cucky Senate, we'd already see Hunter being called to answer, but they have to be careful- being too overt in betrayal will mean Republicans turning violently on their own party. And let's not forget the nonsense in 'Novum Organum', which precisely led to a lot of the very nonsense in all of those bad books. "muh scientific socialism" has Hume and Bacon to thank for it. Junkie Hunter settled with his baby-mama stripper in Arkansas (it may already have been noted). If he pays her $10K per month, retroactive to November 2018 (as he agreed to do), that's $140,000. Plus both her and his legal costs, figure $50 K each, and now we are up to $240,000. Plus, I'm sure Joe's advisors told him to pay child support through the est of the year so no Dead-beat stories emerge before the election, so that's another $110,000 and boom! Hunter probably wrote checks totaling over $350,000 dollars in real American money today.
On top of this Junkie Hunter is still liable for penalties she may assess in the contempt hearing and he still has to prove to the judge that his private settlement is appropriate given his income, and she expressly noted in giving her OK to the provisional settlement that it could yet be raised. The enduring lesson here is, Do Not Piss Off The Judge. Posted by: Huck Follywood at January 27, 2020 05:35 PM (NVYyb) Posted by: JackStraw at January 27, 2020 05:36 PM (ZLI7S) 471

Romney just reminds me that I haven't liked a single GOP Presidential candidate in my lifetime. I was too young to vote for Reagan.

Loeffler is doing the only thing she CAN do, given that she was nominated over Trump's preference (Rep Doug Collins) and that of a lot of Republicans.
She's part owner of one of those severely conservative WNBA teams and has praised Stacey Abrams as being 'inspiring'. No one knows what her policy positions are except that Gov Kemp (RINO) assures us that she's conservative. But she is wealthy and can self-fund in her 're-election' which IS going to be contested (Collins and my own rep, Graves, are two known to be thinking about it). That she voted for no witnesses doesn't even cause my needle to quiver. Posted by: The Packetman at January 27, 2020 06:21 PM (a0/Y7) 486
477 "Get OUT! A pope grasping for more power??"
More like influence than power, really. It was a rhetorical argument: The Emperor shouldn't butt in on Church affairs because the Spiritual arena was more important than the Secular. And then to drive the point home: In fact, the Emperor ought to be guided by the Church precisely because the Spiritual is more important than the Secular. Basically it was analogous to the Congress and the President threatening to investigate each other to death. I leave it to your imagination as to who was which. Everybody knows that there is a certain kind Republican who hates Donald Trump and who would like to do him harm politically but simply lacks the courage to attack the President directly. So instead that Republican pretends he is for witnesses because he hopes, just like the progressives (psst, Mitt is a fellow traveler progressive) that witnesses will successfully defame the President even though it is certain he will be acquitted by the Senate. Even many Democrat Senators have said that they are for acquittal but will vote for more witnesses because they believe that Donald Trump shouldn't be President and hope further witnesses will hobble the President's agenda even if he is reelected. And Mitt Romney agrees with them. Hillary Clinton will never be President of the United States and neither will Mitt Romney.
