Pissarro is usually classified with the Impressionists, but artists would experiment with other styles from time to time. Since color theory was a big thing at the time, I'm not surprised he toyed with Pointillism, a style all about color theory.

Should be noted that Pissarro experimented with pointillism after Seurat's numerous attempts to persuade him that it was the future of painting. He achieved excellent results but--in the end--remained unpersuaded and went back to more conventional approaches.
The central idea--that small dot-sized marriage of complements would enhance the colors--was inherently faulty because the 'dots' are too small for most human eyes to process color that way. Done badly, pointillist styling muddies colors at viewing distance. Posted by: troyriser at January 28, 2020 09:54 AM (E2EAq) 164

>>My take on that is if Bernie gets the nod, black folk will stay home or vote for Orangemanbad.
If Bernie gets the nod the Democrat party is in serious trouble. We joke about the socialist/communist wing of the Democrat party but it is real and growing particularly with the young know nothings. If the media highlighted this problem 1/10th the amount they did the Tea Party movement which was much more mainstream it might hit people's radar more. Bernie would probably guarantee Trump 45 states and lead to a real rupture in the party. The idea of this crazy old communist who has never run anything, never accomplished anything, never even held a job in the private sector would scare the hell out of people when voting time came and the less crazy in the party know it. I got into one a few weeks ago.
Some lady did an illegal left turn into traffic that I couldn't avoid. Her insurance company is paying for everything (though it's taking damn forever). Also, her driver's licence was in state, but her car was still registered in California. I'm guessing she just never registered her car in SC, and I hope she got into a heap of trouble for that. Posted by: TheJamesMadison, 003 with a License to Kill at January 28, 2020 * * TJM and the others, I 'm sorry to hear about your car accidents. Apparently Lousy-ana is not the only state was crazy drivers. I'm switching my car insurance to the Lizard People, and they will give me a nice discount if I take this online Defensive Driver course. It says it'll take about 8 hours, and I've only completed two parts out of six. A lot of it is basic stuff that those of us who've driven for a few years already know, but sometimes don't pay attention to. It's not that bad. For all his warts Clinton was a smart guy who had run a state and spent years cultivating a power base in the Democrat party. Bernie isn't even a Democrat and he's scary stupid and vacuous. He was asked over the weekend how he would pay for his free everything plans which have been estimated to cost roughly $60 trillion over 10 years. His answer, nobody knows how it will be paid for. Not kidding. Sure, some people will vote reflexively for the Democrat nominee just like people reflexively voted for McCain or Romney. But Bernie is a whole different creature. Again, he has never accomplished anything in the private sector or in his decades in Congress. Not one thing. His entire appeal is by those who want to transform the US into some mythical socialist paradise that he can't even define or pay for. Super platform. Trump would absolutely destroy him and people who really aren't all that thrilled about destroying the economy while surrendering 75% of their paycheck to pay for illegal alien's healthcare might just decide to stay home or vote for Trump. Makers versus takers. Makers are overwhelmingly Republican. Takers are overwhelmingly Democrat. Democrats in office try to create or import more takers. Republicans in office try to create more makers and reduce the number of takers. With some bells and whistles about ethnic and other types of identity, that's it in a nutshell.

434,
Part of the House Republican problem is that the Dems are not moving any legislation to oppose. The Dem's agenda is impeachment and investigations do not give much role for the Republicans to fight over other than the few in specific committees. If the Dems are wrong about impeachment and/or the whole FISA/surveillance state abuse, then money will not save them as they have no other popular agenda. Nationalization of the House and Senate races probably leans more against Dems than for them at this point as it prevents Dem candidates from running against their party and institution because of the Dem base DJT hatred. Right now, it is probably a wash whether or not the Dems hold the House and the Republicans do seem to be getting a large number of potential candidates running as opposed to 2018. That is usually a sign that races may be winnable instead of hopeless. Senate races are always more complicated and often turn on internal party divisions, candidate quality, and funding. My guess, right now based on normal votes without a district by district analysis, the Dems stand to lose maybe 10-15 seats for sure, maybe as much as 25 in the House which would give either Dems or Republicans narrow control depending on the tossups. Senate is too idiosyncratic right now until primaries are over. Posted by: whig at January 28, 2020 11:16 AM (EUDB2) 446
