The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

If you ever watch ABC news...stop. These smarmy worms are blaming President Trump for the Iranian regime's murder of protesters.

Amnesty: At least 106 dead in protests, which Iran disputes [The link goes to outline.com, but if it doesn't work and you must see the ABC report, here it is.]

Absent in the coverage was an acknowledgement of what sparked the demonstrations. The jump in gasoline prices represents yet another burden on Iranians who have suffered through a painful currency collapse, following President Donald Trump's unilateral withdrawal of the United States from Iran's 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, and the reimposition of crippling U.S. economic sanctions.
The whole article is a sleazy mess of innuendo and disgusting assumptions; almost as if they are trying to drive the narrative against President Trump!

So using this twisted logic, the Hungarian freedom fighters were responsible for their own murders, as were the Czechs. And the United States was responsible for the millions of deaths in the Pacific, because if we had only allowed the Japanese their oil, everything would have been just marvelous.

It is simply amazing to me that the writers of this shit are so consumed by their hatred of President Trump, and by extension traditional-values America, that they are willing to absolve a murderous dictatorship in Tehran of the murders of its subjects. Oh, let us not forget that the Mullahs and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard were directly responsible for the IEDs that killed and maimed so many of our troops in Iraq and elsewhere. Just for that we should have bombed them into oblivion, but I guess the 4th Estate prefers to support (indirectly ) them rather than condemn them.

The media are traitors to the cause of freedom and liberty in America and around the world, and they are less and less interested in hiding their proclivity for dictators and totalitarianism over our way of life.

15 In a war with Iran, God forbid, first step has to be clearing out their sympathizers in the US. If you don't, as Bush failed to do, of course you're on the path to defeat.

It's not going to come to that, though. The Iranian state is starting to collapse, and neither Russia nor China can come to the rescue. They're more competently run than Venezuela, but they're also under far more military pressure.

Probably are, they just have to be careful with it. I imagine that if you were round up 100 press men at random, you would find that 97-100 of them would rather have the Mullah than our current President.

They may not actually like the Mullahs, but they certainly like them *better* than our guys. Therefore, if our guys takes action that harms them, our guys are wrong and bad and deceitful and evil and awful. Period.

Think it may be more than Trump hatred, though that is a key feature.

Since Obama's presidency there has been a very weird progressive support for Iran. I don't get it, but there are many who see Iran's regime as more legitimate that Trump's presidency, and they are committed to the US supporting Iran's mullahs in any way possible. Over any other country in the ME, including and especially, Israel. It is sick.

83 Regarding the IPA discussion in the last thread, at least one other style developed because of transporting it over long distances: Russian Imperial Stouts. Catherine the Great was a big stout fan but the standard dry Irish Stout, like Guinness, would spoil after being transported unrefrigerated over a not short transit time. Accordingly they created these humongous malt and hop bombs that could endure and produce a high ABV in the process.

88 I'm never surprised to hear leftists blame the US for anything and everything. My husband has a friend whose wife does this often and with astonishing vitriol for the country that accepted her parents as refugees. In her opinion, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were horrific crimes against humanity (but of course her dad, the refugee, hid under the bed rather than out on a uniform in WWII) and American losses would have been preferable. She also blames the US for "allowing" the Germans to commit atrocities and the Holocaust, for surely we could have demanded that all these people come here.

I avoid parties at her home like the plague and insist that the guys should enjoy each other's company without the wives. Today, as a matter of fact, they're lunching together and heading to home depot.

The fun part will be the Articles where they say Trump explicitly said no quid pro quo. But because Amb Soldolmon (sp) felt that there was - in large part because there always is in some ways - it is therefore an Article of impeachment because the Ambassador said there was.

I'm beginning to like the idea of impeachment, if for no other reason than to have the Senate call witnesses without restrictions - particularly questions to Vidman on who he spoke to.

Remember, no one knows who he WB is, so calling Eric Ciarmello - is just calling an individual who Vidman spoke to.

Mayor Pete is desperate to get above his current 0% support from blacks:
While talking about systemic racism and his challenge connecting with
black voters, Mayor Pete said, "I care about this because my faith
teaches me that salvation has to do with how I make myself useful to
those who have been excluded, marginalized, and cast aside and oppressed
in society."

Buttigieg is a Marxist, and like Obama ("brother's keeper"!!), he likes to misinterpret scripture in order to coerce Christians into supporting his Marxist ideas.
There's a reason his pastor BIL is not close to Pete. I'm guessing he's seen how shallow Pete's faith is.

149 The Overton window is off the charts. We have ACTUAL HARD EVIDENCE of a multitude of crimes committed by a multitude of people ... and we're supposed to be breathlessly awaiting a harshly-worded report?
If this ever looks like it'll lead to any significant prosecutions, it'll be too late owing to statutes of limitations expiring alone.

There has been a lot of commentary by different Senators and other connected people which put together, indicates that the biggest cause of the holdup was a huge inter-agency fight inside the CIA and the FBI about how much previously classified info (and everything is classified) could or should be made public. Apparently Barr had to step in personally to get this resolved so the process could move forward.

I hope he's wrong too, because our trust in American institutions is at risk

--------

Any trust anyone has for these institutions should be dead.

Even if justice is served (LOL), it doesn't mean the institutions that did these things are fixed. Even if every proven conspirator is locked up, the American government will be just as bottomlessly corrupt as it was the day before because - spoiler alert - the whole thing is corrupt, and it can't be fixed.

At the rate he's deteriorating it is incomprehensible to me that he could ever finish out a term as president without the 25th Amendment being invoked.

I'm with those who have been urging PDT to make some public addresses to the nation (not sure if those would be broadcast by any other network than FOX unless he made it sound very foreboding and did a bait-and-switch) to bypass the Progda Enemedia and enlighten the American people in general as to what's going on. PDJT asked two things: 1) Ukraine would assist Barr in his investigations, if Barr should ask )and he never needed to, so did not) and, 2) Ukraine should itself investigate the corrupt nature of the firing of a prosecutor. Completely unremarkable, in and of itself. Given our long-standing efforts to fight corruption in Ukraine, most people would say Trump was doing the right thing.

Only Guy Benson, the NeverTrumps generally, and the fascist Democrats they travel with would argue the QPQ Trump asked for in those calls was anything other than virtuous and good. One might even fucking call the requests "perfect".

Only they can read between the lines, hear the dog whistle, its how they know PDT wanted QPQ even though he kept saying no QPQ....

Somewhere in here is a real funny SNL sketch that will never be done.

See the problem was this whole thing was done on National do the opposite day, so when PDT said no QPQ, they knew he meant yes QPQ.

But yeah Burisma is code for Biden cause he was on their dole.

He seems creepy to me too. Sanpaku eyes?

I get the arrogant and angry vibe that Obama gives off when challenged, or like when he publicly insulted people, such as "You're nice enough, Hillary" or when he was in Malaysia (IIRC) and mocked several US governors for not wanting muslim refugees dumped in their state with notification ("scared of 3 year olds?").
I really do see Obama 2.o in Buttigieg.

Posted by: Nick in Tallahassee

I think that's probably correct, but it's still an interesting gedanken experiment. It's bound to arise in other circumstances as well, for example if an Hispanic candidate displaces the black favorite.

Just how far is the black community willing to go to maintain their Dem power and the gravy train that goes with it?

What I hope from Buttigieg is that he sticks around long enough to simply sow chaos.

Winning Iowa would be a great first step. Followed by Warren winning NH, and then Biden winning SC.

Maybe Sanders wins NV.

And then it's Super Tuesday (including CA), and there's no frontrunner.

What I think is that some people are so blind to reality, I like to call these people lawyers, that they can't see what's plainly in front of them, and instead have to go through convoluted picking at minutia to find some nugget of truth that is clear to everyone who isn't a lawyer.

Let me put it this way. If you go out with a gal, and you buy her dinner, maybe some flowers, and hold doors open for her, and scoot in her chair and shit like that, you expect her to sleep with you.

Is that a quid pro quo?

And if she doesn't sleep with you, do you keep taking her out, buying her dinner, scooting in her chair and all that?

NO!!!

People (not lawyers) think that's normal human behavior, and nobody (at least not decent people) never say "if you don't sleep with me, I won't take you to dinner."

The President ONLY deals with third world shitholes, because he wants something. Diplomats deal with third world shitholes because they want something too, it's just not the same thing as Presidents and the American people.

Ask me what the difference is, and I'll tell you.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I think the statute reads 'aid and comfort to the enemy IN A TIME OF WAR'
Congress has not voted to declare war on Iran, nor to my knowledge has the 'war on terrorism' been brought to a conclusion. The term 'war on terror' was too damned nebulous to be of any value. One could rationally make the argument that Iran, being the #1 state sponsor of terrorism in the world, is a legitimate target in the war on terrorism. The best thing for the Iranians is to get some support from the US for those 'dissidents' to overthrow the mullahs. We should absolutely stand aside and not let anyone else interfere (UN) and let the Iranians dictate the proper punishment for those that are being overthrown.

Arguing about this stuff is like arguing about who is going to be the next champion in professional wrassling.

It's all fake.

The script is already written.

As everyone speculates how it's gonna play out, they're watching polls. We already know the House is going to vote to impeach. We (really, we do) know the Senate is not going to convict.

The only real questions is, what does the audience do in November of next year. That's what the scriptwriters don't know yet, but like pro wrassling, they're counting on their audience to be dumb and dirt. They expect whatever outcome there is in November, it'll be predictable, based on this script. The one they have already written.

Actually, the parallels between the United States and Israel are quite striking.

For the first three decades, Israel was run by left-wing "socialist" Jews of European background, who somehow managed to keep most of the wealth of the country for themselves while being "socialist".

Then Menachem Begin got elected (mostly with the votes of Jews of Middle Eastern background), and the right has usually has been in power since then.

However, the left-wingers still control the courts, the government bureaucracy, and most of the media, and has been waging a relentless campaign of lawfare against Netanyahu's government.

Since Obama's presidency there has been a very weird progressive support for Iran. Over any other country in the ME, including and especially, Israel. It is sick.
Posted by: Lizzy at November 21, 2019 11:07 AM (bDqIh)

This goes waaaaaaay back. It's a peculiar Western European elite strategy of asserting superiority over one's peers by co-opting and elevating one's association with outsiders. Apparently, this is evident as far back as Tacitus describing the Germans through rose-colored glasses in order to knock his fellow Romans. A bit later, Ammianus Marcellinus pulls the same kind of the-original-Christians-were-nothing-like-the-current-ones schtick we see from guys like Buttcheek.

Fast forward, and you can trace the current Iran infatuation back to Victorian/Edwardian Brits who "went native". It's no coincidence that Commie Spy Kim Philby was the son of the notorious middle east meddler H. St. John Philby. On that very note, look into the backstory of that Strzok guy and also Buttigieg.

352 I want to comment on a comment in the previous thread (had to answer a call of nature before the thread was nooded):

The comment:
The number of foreign born witnesses has been a bit startling. Not saying you cannot become a loyal American after being naturalized, but there is a distinct pattern here.

Posted by: Nick in Tallahassee at November 21, 2019 10:49 AM (JRaU+)

I don't believe these folks are disloyal to the US. But I think a lot of them say to themselves, "The US is very good, but England (or Belarus or wherever) is also pretty good." So they aren't looking out for the US as their sole interest when it comes to deals between the US and other countries.

Plus, they and many of the US-born career foreign service officers are globalists. They entered the foreign service to go to foreign posts for the lifestyle (the low-rated ones go to Kabul, not Paris as they wanted), and dream of make their bones negotiating peace treaties and big multi-national deals that open-up global-trade partnerships. and the like.

I don't know how we can stop people with such a mindset from getting into the US State Department.

It was another time when he said that. I don't think he could have imagined this America. I don't think many of my forbears could have imagined this. But I think his idea was about hate, not opposition. When you hate you weaken yourself. You can oppose someone infringing on your rights without hating them.

358 The Democrats are such idiots. If they gave up on impeachment, and never uttered Trumps name, there are plenty of centrist voters whose antipathy to his chaotic hiring and firing, as well as his aggressive nature, would vote for a Biden-like candidate. Plenty of voters would convince themselves a smiling grifter surrounded by socialists would be just fine.

Instead they go burnt earth and look to be nominating a communist. Trump is fortunate in his enemies. We all are.

362 Are there any Jews in the Knesset calling for Israel to have open borders?

Well, you have the Arab members of the Knesset calling for the destruction of the State of Israel.

One of the big issues in the current Israeli election maneuvering is that Arabs are generally excluded from the governing coalition, for the reason above.

The one time the government relied on Arabs to get a vote passed was the Oslo Accords, which is not viewed as a favorable precedent in Israel.

When the amendment was approved that the senate would be elected by the people instead of state legislatures, secret voting became mute for good. A secret impeachment vote now would spark a lot of very bad events.

377 334 Anyone think 2020 could split the Democrats into the Incremental Socialist party and the Afterburners lit Socialist party?

If Warren or Sanders wins the nomination, they will have to tack to the center to have a prayer of winning. And that may be enough for the Brown Shirt wing of the Democrats to declare them crypto-feudalist, or something and turn on the "Boomer" wing of the party.
Posted by: JB1000 at November 21, 2019 12:02 PM (K2HR/)

========

I've been saying this is a possibility for a while.

It depends on how the election shapes out, though.

Outside of obvious malfeasance in the primary, the party won't split before the general election.

However, a major loss that could easily be blamed on one wing of the party could ignite a purge of that side from party committees and lead to a split.
