IG Report "Expected" Before Thanksgiving, Supposedly Will Contain At Least Two Criminal Referrals, One for... James Comey?
This is originally from Sara Carter, who I don't know is very reliable, but it's something.
We've been down this road before -- repeatedly -- so we'll take this latest report with a large grain of salt. Anyway, Carter's sources say the report will be damning and is "alleged to contain several criminal referrals on former FBI officials. The report will apparently have at least two criminal referrals, said two sources, with knowledge. One of those criminal referrals is expected to be [former FBI Director James] Comey. However, the Inspector General’s office has not been providing comments on the report."Carter also claims:
The email chain between FBI investigators in the Russia probe and then-FBI Director James Comey. Those emails also include discussions with lawyers in the DOJ's national security division. As previously reported, the email chains will contain information that prove the FBI knew prior to obtaining a warrant to spy on Page that former British spy Christopher Steele's information in his infamous dossier on Trump could not be proven. Horowitz's report is also going to contain evidence that the FBI handled Hillary Clinton’s campaign differently than that of President Trump’s campaign. It will reveal that she had received a detailed debriefing from the FBI on foreign attempts to make contact with her campaign. It will reveal the deep bias and animus those FBI officials had toward the Trump campaign.Grassley's raising alarm bells about the DOJ blocking the report from final publication:

The IG report is being held back to counter whatever is attempted by the dems on impeachment.
The only reason I get this sense is the things that Trump has thrown out during pressers, and for the most part it makes sense.
I don't know that this is the best strategy unless it's over the top - because as we know the liberal media will ignore it and only focus on the dems messaging - which will be about impeachment.

It seems the IGs role is to draw things out as long as you can, give the wolves a good look at the floor plans of the hen house and then fart out some report that then gets subsumed into the ether.
Unless you're out to get the President then the IG works hand in glove with the Deep State wolves.
We shall see how this all plays out.

This is *the* problem.
Credibility status: shot.
Credibility recovery assessment: too dangerous and expensive.
To get their credibility back again, they have to punish a *lot* of wrongdoers and so *very* publicly. I don't think that will happen, because it would guarantee the destruction of at least a couple of federal agencies (DoJ and State and the IC, at least) and has an outside risk of toppling the entire government.
Like YD says, the problem is not that the state has become corrupt. The problem is that corruption has become the state.

We here at AoS think that the posts Ace makes are "the news" and cover all the most significant political events of each day.
But "progressives" live in an alternate universe where they never even hear any these topics, and instead get hoppin' mad and full of daily outrage on a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT array of "news items" that generally have ZERO overlap with the current events that you and I deem to be news.
Case in point:
Was at a family gathering yesterday, where one of my liberal/progressive/leftist relatives (they're ALL this way) was freaking out about the big news of the day, and everyone chimed in and knew about it and were tut-tutting and/or had steam coming out of their ears in outrage.
And what was this news?
Apparently some woman, whom my relative identified as "Trump's spiritual advisor" (I didn't catch the name), said during a "sermon" that "Trump walks on holy ground" and that therefore wherever Trump has stepped is literally sacred, and right-wingers worship that ground. It's is a crazy cult! Trump voters literally are required to worship the ground he walks on! It's insane! IT"S ONE BIG VAST RIGHT-WING CULT!!!
I nodded sagely and said "Gee, that sounds pretty bad," then changed the subject as quickly as I could.
But seriously, I had never even HEARD of this news item, while to my family it was the front-page freakout news story of the week.
Like I said: We live in alternate universes. No overlap whatsoever.

And that's the problem I think we have. A great many people are looking for a remedy that exists only in their dreams not in reality.
In the real world, not the Mueller world, charging people with crimes is hard. A good prosecutor isn't going to bring charges unless he has evidence and he believes he has enough evidence to prove a crime beyond a reasonable doubt. It's a very high bar as it should be.
And last I looked we don't burn people alive in the US any longer. But indicting a former Director of the FBI for real crimes is kind of a big deal. It's never happened before and it would be an earthquake. It might not satisfy everyone but it would be a very big deal nevertheless.

Yes, that crack against Carter confuses me.
Sara Carter and John Solomon seemed to be about the only real reporters out there, reporting accurately on the biggest political scandal in history.
It got so that as "news" items broke, it was anti-climactic, because the two of them had told us what was coming - and what was really going on - months ahead of time.
But "sharing a Pulitzer"? The Pulitzer is like a lot of the other Major Awards out there (the Nobel Prize, or an Acadamy Award, for example) It's Leftists awarding other Leftists for being especially Lefty in an especially high-profile way. Getting such an award should be considered an insult.
