The Same Media That Spent a Week Lecturing People That It Was a Crime to Criticize LTC Vindman Now Flip-Flop and Start Attacking LTC Hickman, For Having The Audacity to Criticize VindmanIt's okay to attack gauche, deplorable veterans. The New York Times on Thursday covered U.S. Army Lt. Col. Jim Hickman's explosive allegations against Democrat "star witness" Lt. Col. Alexander S. Vindman by casting aspersions on Hickman’s character. Last week, Hickman divulged on Twitter that Vindman "really talked up" President Barack Obama and ridiculed America and Americans in front of Russian military officers when Hickman worked with him in Grafenwoher, Germany in 2013. Hickman said that he "verbally reprimanded" then-Major Vindman after he heard some of his derisive remarks for himself. "Do not let the uniform fool you," Hickman wrote. "He is a political activist in uniform." The Times characterized Hickman’s account as "unsubstantiated," even though it was backed up by his boss at the time. And on Friday, a second individual who witnessed the incident, provided American Greatness with a statement saying Vindman "was uncomfortably supportive of Obama" and "almost self-hating of white Americans." While Vindman is frequently described in the media as a patriot and a Purple Heart recipient, Hickman was described by Times reporters Mike McIntire and Nicholas Confessore as a "Florida man" and "fan of QAnon" in the story’s fourth paragraph.Happy Veterans Day from the New York Times. You know how the left tries to cite Christianity sometimes like, "Jesus would love all the gay immigrants!"
Obviously those statements aren't sincere, but are Alinsky tactics of trying to shame conservatives with something they like. It's the same exact thing when they praise military service of people like Vindman and Manning. Posted by: Biggs Darklighter at November 11, 2019 03:16 PM (N4xQB) 16

I just came across an old debate between some New York Magazine critic that hated Star Wars, and Siskel and Ebert, who were defending it.
Listening to both sides reminded me that we used to often have debates that weren't strictly centered around the merits of "social justice", "critical theory" and "oppression". In fact, MOST debates weren't. They were just differing perspectives, being expressed by different human beings, with different minds. Intellectual debates, though largely masturbatory, do teach us something if we listen to them. Debates with commies, OTOH, never lead anywhere because in the end the commie still wants communism, and everyone else still knows that communism is fucking stupid. It's like arguing with The Borg. The Borg will always be the Borg and any argument with them is futile. They simply have to be destroyed. It's amazing when you consider exactly how much these idiots have actually wrecked in their Long March through society. They even fucked up arguing. I know it's gauche and unfashionable to not give a F about Vindman's "credibility", because it's irrelevant, but would be nice if at least one GOP or WH response would have something to do with logic an common sense.
Don't matter if there was a quid pro quo, or not - entirely normal way of doing business, in all of life and at all levels of biz and guvamint. Article II powers and Foreign Assistance Act give prez all the discretion he used here, and much more. There is no immunity from investigation for gross/obvious corruption and conflict of interest for officials who happen to be political candidates. Ukraine's corruption was/is pervasive, and the cast of characters involved in political sabotage against an American political figure has overlap, possible a lot of overlap, with the myriad other areas of corruption of concern to our side. Vindman's opinion was illiterate, and uninteresting, and reflects an appalling lack of understanding of our laws and the real world. Posted by: rhomboid at November 11, 2019 03:40 PM (QDnY+) 133

Right move, obviously. Ukrainian sovereignty is swell, big fan here. But I don't give a F about it compared to getting thousands of nukes rounded up and secured. Which we did, with all 3 countries. Belarus too effed up, too corrupt and dictatorial even for most rent-seeking adventurers back then, under Lukashenko. Georgia too chaotic, insecure, disorganized - I was there a lot and experienced it first-hand. Plus - none of those places had much in the way of readily marketable/exportable commodities, like gas - that would make the $$ #s big ones. Plenty of penny-ante dubious "biznyess" in former republics back then, but big $ was/is only in commodities. A couple of nights ago Lindsey Graham, in an offhand remark during an interview, said that the big classification argument inside the agencies had been resolved, and that most of it - close to all of it - would end up being released.============================================= The federal agency time span between "We're all in agreement" and "Here's everything you requested. Please sign the receipt." is very flexible and nebulous in the extreme. Subject to interpretation. And discussion. Not to mention inter-agency reconciliation. Plus miscommunication, alleged or otherwise. Not to mention delays due to promotion, re-assignment of personnel, or retirement of the same. Have you ever watched "Yes, Minister" and/or "Yes, Prime Minister"? Didn't Christopher Wray recently suggest that a requested document search might take up to 26 months? Sounds "conservative" to me. No, it was in response to Matt Lauer asking her tough questions about her server. He wasn't supposed to ask her hard questions because Hillary Clinton doesn't do hard questions. Seriously, reports of Hillary's violent temper and outbursts have been around since before she was in the White House. When Obama was running for emperor, his life was the biggest cover-up since Watergate. Nobody, especially Illinoisians, had any idea in hell who he was. They still don't. Still the middle ages over there.

Exactly. Isn't there a way to resolve this existential conflict? Like an authority who says "Quit FUCKING around and release it"?
If only there was a chief executive, someone in charge of all of the agencies, the boss of all these different people who has the constitutional power not only to declassify anything he chooses, but the legal power to order them to take action. Such a person would be, dare I say it, presidential! Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at November 11, 2019 04:19 PM (KZzsI) 326
Oh, and the blue bath in Virginia is further evidence that we need to relocate more federal agency headquarters out of the Potomac septic tank. Posted by: Blonde Morticia at November 11, 2019 04:20 PM (13CQC) 327
140 Don't matter if there was a quid pro quo, or not - entirely normal way of doing business, in all of life and at all levels of biz and guvamint. Article II powers and Foreign Assistance Act give prez all the discretion he used here, and much more.
Yeah that's what puzzles and frustrates me. Even if he DID hold something over the Ukraine president's head (which that man says never happened), it wouldn't be illegal or immoral. Just... business as usual. Standard negotiating technique. How on earth is that impeachable?? Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at November 11, 2019 03:41 PM (KZzsI) .. the whole point of offering foreign aid is to gain leverage. You gain leverage when you offer it, and then again when you claw it back, and then again when you offer it again. We should constantly be playing games with foreign aid to further our national interest. That the elected leader of our nation was doing just that is fantastic, not negative. ------------------------------------------------------------ It has to be the right time, doesn't it? It's frustrating, but they can't dump in in the middle of Schiff's clown show. Posted by: JoeF. at November 11, 2019 04:21 PM (CqE5x) 329

"...but I don't think the quote has a source. It's essentially porn for people like us" Posted by: Blonde Morticia
'McCain was executed after a military tribunal at Gitmo ... he was allowed a public state funeral, but only as others were put on notice that they are next ... Lindsay was told to cooperate as we have seen to some extent post McCain ...' that is more "trust the plan" porn --which I allow myself before bed, to sleep more peacefully. Then I wake up and read JJ with my coffee, and learn we are still at war, still #2weeks, outcome of the coup still uncertain. But the porn is nice "comic/stress relief" ... till we get some real indictments .. tick tock. Posted by: illiniwek at November 11, 2019 04:35 PM (Cus5s) 331

This Schiff Ukraine cover-up needs to marinate a little longer to make the meat more tender and delectable.
