James Bond Decides to Follow Terminator: Dark Fate into the Grave, Producing the "Wokest," "Most Politically Correct" Bond Movie Yet

And the last Bond movie for a long, long time.

License revoked.

It has been billed as the most politically correct James Bond movie yet...

Fans who have come to love such doubles entendres might be surprised that they have survived the franchise's 'woke' makeover that has banned outdated sexism and introduced strong female characters, such as Lashana Lynch as another top British secret agent.

Earlier this year, this newspaper revealed that Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge had been brought in as a scriptwriter to ensure the blockbuster was appropriate for the #MeToo era.

As many expected, Bond marries the last bland girl because they're remaking On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

But this isn't your daddy's Mrs. Bond -- Oh no, Madeleine Swann refuses to take Bond's last name.

The morning after their wedding, Bond wakes sleepy-eyed and says 'Good morning, Mrs Bond', to which she replies: 'Don't you mean Ms Swann?'

There will be no "Bond girls" in the movie. In fact, people weren't even allowed to say "Bond girl" on set.

A source said: 'The phrase 'Bond girl' was outlawed from the set. The women in this film are all strong, brave and fiercely independent. These women are not helpless girls who jump into bed with Bond – their reactions are very different from what people might think.

'Bond tries his usual seduction techniques but they fail miserably. It's very funny.'

White men, they're so useless and stupid -- am I right or what?

A movie insider said the original plan was for a 'popcorn-dropping moment' when M, played by Ralph Fiennes, says 'Come in 007' and 'this beautiful, strong black woman walks through the door'.

That moment might have been #cancelled due to fan backlash of "replacing 007." She might have a different double-0 codenumber in the finished movie.

She was determined her character should be a 'real' woman 'who has issues with her weight and maybe questions what's going on with her boyfriend'.

She even discussed something which has never made it into a Bond film before: 'We had one conversation about her maybe being on her period in one scene and… throwing her tampon [into the bin].'

Great, a Bond girl who whines about issues with weight and her boyfriend. (Or are they suggesting her boyfriend might not be a male?)

Just what we've all been waiting for.

And the tampon thing -- so classy.

Craig's Bond is brought out of retirement to work alongside the female special agent to save the world from a villain who has developed a deadly algae which threatens to kill the world's oceans – a nod to the concerns of climate campaigners.

In that vein, producers were determined to make the most environmentally friendly 007 film ever.

Crew members were given reusable water bottles which they filled from taps, saving an estimated 230,000 single-use plastic water bottles.

And Daniel Craig is pushing even more environmentalism -- Bond's driving an electric car in this movie.

Even Bond's beloved gas-guzzling Aston Martin hasn't escaped the green makeover.

Craig will drive an electric Rapide E model. Only 155 of the £250,000 vehicles have been built.

Skeptics had it right in 2005 -- Daniel Craig (who is a leftwing dum-dum and almost certainly behind most of this bullshit, now that he can order EON to do whatever he wants) is in fact the death of James Bond.

It just took him more time to kill Bond than we thought.

I note that a lot of unhappy feminists have "rejection pr0n" fantasies about shooting down QB1 or some other chad.

1. As if.

2. I don't think "Bond seduces" means what you think it means.

Bond generally beds wahmen because he forms a bond with them, is very masculine and direct, and because he has a male quality known as "being Don Draper".

Also, if Suzy Snatchguzzler rejects Bond in real life, it happens. Rejection is part of the game. Bond has usually found it easiest to seduce the bird to get the bad guy. But now, in woke script land, it's funny that Bond can't get the girl. wup dee doo.

===

If I recall, Bond marries the girl in OHMSS because she's a bit of tough nut to crack.

but not because she's a feminist harpy rejection pron icon but because her dad is so Don Draper (and rich and powerful) and she's so hot n' shit, that no man can appeal to her.

IIRC, Bond saves her life while she's being kidnapped and pursues her for reals. He wins her over but she already won him over.

Having her be bitchy AND BLAND would not make sense. Bitchy and rich and hot would make more sense.

72 One thing Kingsman got very right was the antagonist.

Valentine wanted to wipe out humanity because of global warming. It rang true because we all know that many environmental activists would gladly line up behind him.

A bad guy who's out to destroy the oceans? It's pure fantasy. Now, that can be fine in escapist entertainment, but that's not what this is supposed to be, is it? It's supposed to be topical and woke.

So, you have to create antagonistic motives and assign them to a hated class in order for your movie to have an antagonist at all? And that's supposed to be "important"?

It's like these people who get paid large sums of money to tell stories don't know how to tell stories.

George Lazenby will be now considered "a true Bond star".

Nah.

But I could be the lowest grossing Craig Bond movie. That's currently Quantum of Solace which made 586.1 million world wide.

By comparison, the last Bond movie, Spectre, made 880.7 million. The highest grossing was Skyfall which cracked a billion and made 1.109 million.

139 I got a theory on this. More than a theory, honestly. I'm pretty sure I know why Hollywood does this.

They don't care about the money. They kill these characters because they think it hurts you more than it does them. And in many cases, they're right.

There's been a pretty good case made about engaging in the cultural arena - because all things are downstream of culture. I get that. But in this case, it's Hollywood taking an IP and cutting it's throat to spite those that loved it.

The only move is to walk away. Find something else to do. Fuck Bond. Don't even try to revive the books - just let it die.

They killed it. Trying to save it makes no sense.

*clambers up on the tall soapbox*

You know what's insulting? Assuming that women have to be handed an IP rather than starting a new one that has a female star in the first place.

Atomic Blonde was hella fun and you could tell Charlize Theron was having hella fun making it and everyone involved treated it exactly as seriously as it should be treated which is to say not at all.

Women don't need handouts. Women can stand on their own.

See re: Alien franchise. Halloween. Hell, the really annoying thing about Woke Terminator is that Sarah Connor was one of the strongest female characters in sci fi in the first place. There was no need to woke her up.

This is where I get back to the Fast and the Furious movies making somewhere between 5 and 6 billion dollars and counting. Completely multicultural. The women in those movies are strong women who are also *women*. They aren't just guys with boobs bolted on. And it's no big deal. And Vin is printing money like he owns a printing press.

242 One of the most obnoxious things about this in-your-face Feminist crap is the reductive showcasing of physical gender markers. The tampon thing, seriously? Like anyone wants to see that or even considers it somehow quintessentially feminine.

I mean, consider what a corresponding male toss-off attribute/behavior might be: Opening a scene by showing Bond pull a one-cheek sneak before an important meeting? Having to artfully suppress a boner? Stuff everyone knows guys have to do but no professional guy would ever want to be seen doing let alone be identified with (outside of the deliberately comic).

I don't even like the Bond genre, but dammit, these people have no clue about romance or fantasy because they have no imagination for anything beyond their crabbed, vindictive, hyper-politicized bubbles.

The first book - the first movie - Bond was no hero. He was a pick-pocket card player with a penchant for taking it to the extreme before anyone else got there. He was handsome - but not the best looking guy in the room. Fit - but not the ass-beater on the scene that could take the bouncer.

270 I don't actually expect there to be any more Bond films. The franchise was sizzling hot and an industry leader, but around the 1990s they lost their way and no longer have the best stunts, the freshest locations, and the hottest action. Craig's entire run as Bond has been rehashing old scenes and borrowing combat from the Bourne movies. I liked Casino Royale okay but it was a bit overlong and the pacing was odd, putting aside the dumb Texas Hold'Em replacement and how bad the main bad guy was (Bond movie bad guys are pretty uneven in quality).

Craig is interesting to watch but has never once really felt like James Bond. He has zero chemistry with any of the women, at no point does he have that cold sophistication or incredible capable nature. The opening sequence of Casino Royale where he shows all the intellectual capacity and experience in spycraft of the Tasmanian Devil was very disappointing.

Be still my heart.

Posted by: LeftCoast Dawg

========

Something funny, although the franchise is over over over, never to return:

The Twilight Saga, all five movies, had only one flicker of wokeness in them, which was the Quileute Indian element, although even that was pretty much an excuse to have foxy werewolves.

This was tripe for teen girls and it was never as woke as these blockbusters with violent video-game tie-ins and franchises that are all about a guy whose buzz is "licensed to kill."

Hollywood missed something that should have hit them right between the eyes.

I don't think it's hate. I think they don't respect them. They can not imagine a strong POC, so they just color swap a white character.

It is why libs talk down to POC, they see them as children - as inferior. Part of this is that many are so insulated from reality living in a bubble, and part of it is their need to dictate to others, including POC and to do that they have to see everyone else as lesser humans.

I haven't seen it either; some 12-episode (over 3 years) BBC comedy, based on her stand-up routine. Apparently not good enough to make it to BBCA.

Here's a 9/10 * review at IMDB:

The story of a dysfunctional 30 year old, laid bare for the world to see.

For anyone a bit messed up by life the writer of this series wants you to reassure her she is not alone. Set in London it is a touching lesson in the bizarre, crazy and irrational things Londoners will do for some control and stability in their lives.

This series is absolutely not for the sane, it's for the sad, miserable and insane, desperately looking to feel good about themselves (and in need of a good laugh).

Undoubtedly the beginning of something great.

So, basically, throwing all her neuroses on the screen for attention and validation.

Sounds like an ideal fit for a 007 movie. /s

Not true. He's objectively a terrible human being, and the only way he could score was by paying for it.

It's common in Hollywood, the way business gets done. These guys think they're alphas when really they're betas with credit cards.

The MeToo thing exploded because women weren't getting their end of the bargain. They did their time on the couch, but the would-be moguls couldn't make them stars.

So you have people who made a deal with the devil and then realize that all they got were three seasons (at most) on a WB sitcom that didn't even get picked up by Netflix.

Some only got a pilot episode. So much for "I'll make you a star."

Seriously, this is about making sure movies play in China.

I'm way too lazy to look but there have been a few articles over the last couple of years pointing out that the Chinese are not so much down with black movie stars and, well, there you go.

I think that's also part of it, but they are still doing ridiculous forced casting, like black Ariel (who I couldn't care less about but was still pretty ridiculous) and this chick.

There's some racism involved. After all, they are progressives. I wouldn't come to this conclusion if they just said, hey, our casting also has to do with profitability (which, granted, could be an excuse to discriminate but could also be legitimate). Instead, they act all holy and virtuous and above us all.

The Bond movies have been going down hill since the Brosnan ones with the PC bullshit. Making Judi Dench M with all of her feminist insulting the character was the beginning of the end. Casino Royale seemed to reverse the trend but after that they took a steep decline and the rest of the Craig ones are completely unwatchable. I'm sure this new one will be a complete shit show and they will blame evil white men for the craptastic box office

I always liked Ripley more. Ripley never became a badass. She play acted as one when she went to get Newt from the processing station. She was terrified and out of her league, but she made it work.

Conner's transition to badass happened between movies, so she was a bit more one dimensional. Of course, T2 isn't her movie, it's John's, but I think that limited her badassness.

Because, boil down the message of the movie, it is pretty simple - the elites hate you, and want to kill you. And also, they suck in every way it is possible to suck. They are vain, stupid, greedy, ego maniacal, and overall not worth a damn thing.

Think about it.

It's why the second movie wasn't as good - instead of leftist villains it tried to create rightist villains....problem was they were less than believable as villains. They also seemed old hat since EVERY movie has rightish villains - it made the whole thing more boring.

Like Mad Max, I expect James Bond to spend most of the 2nd and 3rd act all tied up and gagged or captured and drugged-

something like that while 00Vag kills the Big Bad.

Sad.

426 China.

Seriously, this is about making sure movies play in China.

I'm way too lazy to look but there have been a few articles over the last couple of years pointing out that the Chinese are not so much down with black movie stars and, well, there you go.

Posted by: alexthechick - Ragebunny. Hopping all around. at November 11, 2019 04:36 PM (mf5HN)

I don't see how having ugly blacks helps with China over having attractive ones. If they dislike blacks then leaving them out seems the way to go.

I looked up the China Box office for Black Panther versus infinity wars. It was somewhat smaller, 100 mil versus 400 mill in a total take if 1.5 billion to nearly 4 billion. So even a wholly black cast doesn't tank China draw that much.

I for one would love to see a female Bond and her tampon. It'll be a riposte to all those times wymyns had to watch the male Bond cut his toenails and clean out the smegma from...oh wait. The movies never showed any of that. But the moviegoing public is dying to see a used tampon scene. Just take out one of the cool car chases or Bond taking on the William's henchmen to make room.

Don't even get me started on this. It's changing a little now, but a dark skinned black woman is almost never cast as a love interest or someone attractive. It's always the mean strong black woman. Law and Order was one of the worst offenders.

Don't get me started on British shows, where they succumbed to the pressure to always have "POC" in their shows set in *English villages*. But there seems to be an unwritten rule that a black person must never be married or romantically linked with another black person. Always a white person. (Indians are occasionally allowed to romantically consort with other Indians.) Occasionally, they even allow non-mixed black people on their shows. It's pretty egregious.

I still watch them, though.

There was a funny pastiche of Bond called "Bond Strikes Camp," written by one Cyril Connolly in the '60s, in which Bond does indeed have to go undercover as a woman. Q asks him what type of breasts he wants to have. "Round or pointed?"

"Round, for God's sake," says Bond.

Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at November 11, 2019 04:55 PM (Ejm1K)

450 The part of it all that blows my mind completely, utterly and completely, is that someone thinks that this is good MARKETING.

And I think that the "fan backlash" was just that a female 007 needed to be a new person, not a reinvention of James Bond. A different double-O would be nice, but everyone understands that the code number isn't permanent to an individual and could be passed to someone else. So they backtrack on a "female James Bond" but then double down on what really was annoying people?

Oh, and James Bond isn't a slut in the books, or at the very least it's never on the page. The movies have always bothered me that way. (He also doesn't deliver dorky one-liner puns, iirc... I must go back and read them I suppose, it's probably been 30 years.)

In France, they'll lock you up for "life" which means they'll let you out in a couple of years. No biggie.

Also, the cultural difference of how the French guys needed to know about her family, whereas the US guy felt emotionally distant, which again is more believable. People in the US are always looking for a fresh start, so who cares where you're originally from?

Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at November 11, 2019 04:49 PM (KZzsI)

=========

That's true, but I still think there's a large leap from where she ended the first and where she started the second. It can be inferred easily, but I'd like to see more of the growth in that direction. It wouldn't fit the movie as it is, but I just feel like it holds Sarah back a bit.
Posted by: TheJamesMadison, Just All about the Billy Wilder movies at November 11, 2019 04:51 PM (q80AH)

I think in the context of that movie you can see that her mania about that was on or over the edge of going too far - alienating John Connor, being locked up away from him, etc. She's all hissing defensive momma cat, but it was on the edge of failing to get Connor believing and prepping for his future role. It took the Terminators showing up to deflect matters back on the path.

I'm only a bit of the way into Death Stranding, which I love but it is the kind of bizarre that's my bag, baby.

Apparently Kojima said it's softly anti-Trump and anti-Brexit which okay fine whatever. Even Kojima trying to make sense out of a Kojima plot is hilarious.

But let's say that's true. To the extent there is a discernible plot, some kind of apocalypse happened, America is now fractured and one side wants to renew connections between the remaining cities while Our Hero Norman Reedus, I mean, Sam, says, nope, America is done and we have to try to take care of ourselves.

Oh but he gets talked into helping make the connections! See how important it is!

Yes. He is emotionally blackmailed by his mother and someone who is his sister(sort of) into doing the job that the women can't do. Oh and if Sam is the Trump supporter avatar, it means that the only way the omg we must all come together to help can achieve anything is if the Trump supporters do all the hard work.

Now, mind you, I think my interpretation is stupid because it's a *Kojima game*. Sanity and coherence are nowhere close to the plot.

Saw "Dr Sleep" today.

I have to say I enjoyed it, which I did not expect.

The script corrected or minimized a lot of the defects of the novel.

The all powerful Mary Sue issue still exists, but is tempered a bit. and Dan Torrance is allowed his moment to shine(!).

Not really a horror movie. Sort of a "The Shining" influenced supernatural thriller. And in that, not truly a sequel to The Shining.

Well directed. Very good acting all around. Nice script with some nice moments and set pieces. Very well-paced, no slow moments.

Fake Shelley Duval and Faux Jack Nicholson are a bit distracting but you roll with it.

If you have a Shoe Size IQ, you will still see the ending coming from a mile away. But, it's well done.

Check it out.

The books don't have that sort of humor, but drier. In New York Leiter tells Bond that if he wants to pass for American, he needs to ask for the "check" instead of the "bill," and to say "Laff" instead of "Larf." The one word to be avoided at all costs, says Leiter, was "Ectually." Bond says that this word was not part of his vocabulary.

I do think that, originally, when she wrote them, those books were SUPPOSED to be that. Look at her bad guys: a fascist who wants to take absolute control, a reporter who is a lying deceptive piece of manipulative trash, a sweet schoolmarm lady who is actually a sadistic tyrant, a brutal police state of absolute government control, and always opposed by one person who keeps violating the rules and defying them no matter what it costs him.

Rowling changed a LOT over the years since writing the books, largely due to the movie community and vast wealth causing her to hobnob with the glitterati rather than back when she was poor and had to face reality.

And I think it shows in her inability to write anything coherent any longer.

All they are doing today is make female characters no man would want.

643 Why does Hollywood forget that the reason people go to films is to ESCAPE their dull humdrum ordinary life?

If we wanted banal scenes of stupidity and boredom all we have to do is pay attention to our own life. We don't have to go to the movies for it.

I have no interest in movies anymore. I only see stuff about them here. And I've pretty much stopped buying books for the same reason. All my favorite authors are either dead or putting out stuff to keep from being sued by a Tumblrina somewhere.

Libraries have stopped putting Science fiction in a separate section because there isn't enough of it anymore that can be actually classified as Science Fiction. Ain't that a bitch!
