They probably won't. Unless they missed you and allowed you to get big, it is *far* more effective and subtle to just black-hole you (e.g., "shadow-banning"). It's hard to detect and very effective and squashing badthink.

I suspect the shadow-banning is already going lower on the totem pole, and will probably keep up indefinitely to where if you cross some threshold (like "3 or more posts") of badthink content, you're just dumped into the black hole without notice.

Why do something obvious like bricking your expensive hardware when they can do something subtle like allowing you to think you're communicating with it when you're actually just talking at a wall? If they do it early enough before you get popular, you'll never know the difference - you're just unpopular, untalented, can't build an audience, etc. Another day another failed youtuber/tweeter/etc.

Anyway they got it built immediately prior to opening, and on opening day the tank started to leak.

they yanked the capstan from the exhibit and put it back in whatever container it was in before.

We spent lots of time with the silicone adhesive manufacturer going through the details on what was in that solution, trying to figure out if there was something in it that would have failed the adhesive. Never found the smoking gun.

Posted by: josephistan at October 14, 2019 02:46 PM (Izzlo)

Regardless of the strength of the adhesive or fasteners, you shouldn't depend on them to hold the full weight. They are there to keep the pieces from moving, but your design should have the weight supported by the plastic itself (interlocking slots, for example).

This is a common problem with home-built backyard decks/patios. The crossbeams are held exclusively by the long deck screws so all the weight goes into the screw itself, which eventually shears off. To do it properly you need to do interlocking slots so that the wood is holding the weight.

For something as light as model airplanes, you might get away with it, though.

Don't get me wrong. She Smith was an embarrassment. If there is such a thing as a soap-opera personality and approach to news, Shep nailed it. Chris Wallace has also been embarrassing. I stopped watching him years ago.

But where is FoxNews going? If it's towards a liberal approach to News, or trying to "balance" its conservative bent, that's an insane business move. Media is 95% liberal right now. "Balancing" the news would require hard-Right FoxNews + 8 or 9 more media outlets just like them. But for big ones, FoxNews is the only one. Why would they give that up??

BREAKING: In new book "Crime in Progress," set for release next month, #Spygate archvillain Glenn Simpson reveals that he was first hired to investigate Trump in "the fall of 2015" and that memos from his now-discredited Steele dossier made their way directly "to President Obama"

Hah, Simpson thinks this is great stuff.

Obama HIMSELF read Glenn's hot-hot exclusives!

Glenn Simpson was the FIRST to have the bead on the evil Donald Trump -- if only you'd listened to him then!!

Glenn Simpson, man-about-town and insider-to-the-insiders!

(Probably the only thing he leaves out is what an awesome lay he is and how Melania all but threw herself at him and begged for his awesome manhood.)

Why? It's not illegal to be hired to investigate a politician. If it was half of DC would be in jail. And it's not like we didn't know he was hired by the DNC to investigate Trump 2+ years ago.

What's interesting is that he admitted it started in 2015 and Obama was involved.

Why is that your only conclusion?

Let's assume that the FISA IG report has been circulating for a month (which it has) to those named in the report for their responses (which it also has). DOJ has it, of course, and has probably already made some decisions on whether to pursue indictments or not.

Let's say that the FISA report is really, really bad for those involved. Let's say that there are those in the DOJ who know what's going on who are leaking to those outside of the government what's coming.

What would someone like Fusion Simpson do? Lay down quiet? Or try to get the media actively on his side? Turn the whole thing into a political witch hunt because he's an outspoken critic of Trump and the previous president had a hand in it, which means that Trump shouldn't touch it because that would be uncouth?

There are definite other reasons why Fusion's founder Glenn Simpson could be piping up right now than he thinks he's gonna skate. In fact, him piping up seems to indicate that he knows something's coming for him. Otherwise he could just continue to operate as normal.

286 Regardless of the strength of the adhesive or fasteners, you shouldn't depend on them to hold the full weight.

Posted by: IllTemperedCur at October 14, 2019 03:05 PM (veoSD

...

As luck has it, I read through the IRC prescriptive deck building document this weekend.

Joists are allowed be carried in face-mounted hangers, which would depend completely on shear in the fastener.

But beams *have* to be in bearing on the post, either on top or on a shoulder cut into the post, because the consequence of fastener failure (which is inevitable over time) is just too great.

That said--you don't need much to hold up a shelf for model airplanes, and the attachment to the gyp board in the wall isn't going to be worth more than about 50 lbs or so anyway.

The problem I always had with this approach is that it acknowledged the inherent bias in the system, yes, but always sort of treated the conservative side as needing balance. As if it was dirty somehow.

On the other hand, the play was probably so they were not freezing out the other half of the market and to try to draw people from those other channels- which I can understand the idea.

If we know he was hired by the DNC and his work product was the Steele Dossier, then he must be confident that he and his firm won't be implicated in an attempted coup.

Fox could freely try to appeal to conservatives.
Now that we have a POTUS who wants to end the unfair trade with China, Fox can no longer continue its pretense. China wants Trump out so they can go back to ripping us off. Fox news bows China. They love those Chinese markets more than they love this country.

408 It's too small a job to justify a welder. The thing I want to fix only costs 8 bucks to replace.

But, I don't want to buy another if its just going to break the same way again. So, I need to know how to fix this one. You understand.

Posted by: sniffybigtoe

Understand.
Why does/would it keep breaking?

This job maybe to small. Next job might not be.
One of the few regrets I have, is not learning how to weld from my dad.

Horowitz will provide a ton of documentation and other evidence of what we all mostly know by now. But it was always about what would the DOJ do.

You'd think that the mainstream press - the folks who *invented* the negative media roll-out - would learn and just immediately disclose, get in front of the next pieces, and start spinning it like men possessed.

It puzzles me that they don't.

Right after it started circulating, the impeachment frenzy began and it went into overdrive.

Completely coincidental and unrelated, I'm sure.

421 @384

I would say the Ukrainan op and the knock on spasms of fury from the usual suspects that we are seeing is a reaction to whatever the FISA IG investigation is visiting upon the Deep State.

Brennan was whining that he was going to have a "meeting" with Durham's team, probably not to discuss yoga routines and swap stories about the grand kids.

I have no doubt these types of "meetings" have been occurring with Durham's team and the Deep State coup plotters.

What material effect will all of this have?

I have no idea, but I have previous IG investigations to rely on for my determination that ultimately nothing will happen to any of these coup perpetrators.

Look, I hope and pray I'm wrong and Barr and Durham come down from the mountains throwing lighting bolts and smoting the coup plotters.

But I have my doubts.

And another reason the Deep State has pulled this latests op is the same reason that Barr and Durham need to deliver now.

Both sides are running out of time.

The FISA report is just a report. The final step is to get feedback from those named before it gets officially handed to the DOJ. It's then that the DOJ makes decisions on indictments.

So, the FISA report is out for that final step. Let's assume it's super damaging to the left because the Left is acting like it. Is that because they're going to have a bad news cycle? Or is it because they know that the DOJ has already decided to pursue indictments and they're trying to get ahead of the story?

No. The Mueller circus ended with a report, but he was a special prosecutor. They operate on different rules than an IG.

Silicone generally does not bond well to acrylic or polycarbonate. Gorilla brand prolly does the best among the mass marketed stuff, but it's still a sealant as opposed to an adhesive.

Look at Loc-Tite epoxy plastic bonder.

I got to ride in a stage on the facade one time, and I didn't know about releasing the "climber" on the safety rope when it goes back down.

I only lifted a little off the floor of the stage before they brought it back up and reminded me what to do. Quite the feeling though.
