THE QUOTES OF THE DAY

Quote I

“Hunter always understood that his father would be guided, entirely and unequivocally, by established U.S. policy, regardless of its effects on Hunter’s professional interests,” “He never anticipated the barrage of false charges against both him and his father by the President of the United States.”George Mesires

Quote II

“We believe that the continued governmental inaction over the climate and ecological crisis now justifies peaceful and non-violent protest and direct action, even if this goes beyond the bounds of the current law,” Emily Grossman

Quote III

“We have not had that [indoor] option for — it’s been at least 20 years that we have the ability to shoot anywhere indoors around here,” Southern Maryland resident Bill Kitchens

Quote IV

“The radical Democrats policies are crazy. The politicians are corrupt. Their candidates are terrible. They know they can’t win an election so they are pursuing an illegal, invalid, and unconstitutional bullshit impeachment.” POTUS Donald J. Trump

I wish POTUS George W. Bush had shown 25% as much fight as Trump.

HAPPY COLUMBUS DAY!

This month, Washington, D.C. — which is literally named after Christopher Columbus — voted to abolish the celebration of Columbus Day. Alaska, Hawaii, Maine, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Vermont do not celebrate Columbus Day, either. These states struck down the holiday in favor of Indigenous Peoples' Day, which the U.N. celebrates on August 9.

Here are 5 reasons to celebrate Columbus Day on October 14, and to leave Indigenous Peoples' Day on August 9 where it belongs. Contrary to popular belief, Columbus Day is a celebration of diversity, not oppression.

Boo-f*cking-hooooooo........The United Nations claims it is running out of other people's money.

United Nations’ Secretary General Antonio Guterres complained on Monday that his globalist organization is running a massive deficit of $230 million and could run out of money at the end of the month due to their profligate spending.

“Member States have paid only 70 percent of the total amount needed for our regular budget operations in 2019. This translates into a cash shortage of $230 million at the end of September. We run the risk of depleting our backup liquidity reserves by the end of the month,” he wrote.

The ONT has poked at single payer medical coverage for some time. Hmmm, wonder what the waiting time will be for this? The U.K.’s Public Health Center for Gaming Disorders Marks a New Era in Fighting Tech Addiction

The battle against gaming addiction entered a new era this week when the U.K. public health system, the National Health Service (NHS), announced the opening of its first center specializing in 'Internet and Gaming Disorders.'

With the new center, the U.K. sets a new baseline for efforts to fight gaming addiction. Other countries have tried to address the issue, but largely on a more limited scale. South Korea, for one, has tried to legislate culture change by policing access to games, but this has proved largely futile. Its 'Cinderella Law' allowing only users 16 years and older to log on to online gaming sites between midnight and 6 a.m. didn't apply to cell phones or tablets.

“Compulsive gaming and social media and internet addiction is a problem that is not going to go away when they play such a key part in modern life,” Claire Murdoch, NHS national mental health director, said in the agency's statement.

They extract money from us without our consent. At least they could do is keep our identity safe.

An IRS employee stole multiple people’s identities, and used them to open illicit credit cards to fund vacations and shop for shoes and other goods, according to a complaint unsealed last week in federal court.

The complaint accuses the 35-year-old federal worker of racking up almost $70,000 in charges over the course of two years, illegally using “the true names, addresses, dates of birth, and Social Security numbers” of at least three people.

When wind and solar just doesn't cut it. Fossil fuel powered generators to the rescue.

Groups like Extinction Rebellion seem to like this phrase — a simple but effective mental image that instills just the right amount of fear and urgency around the use of fossil fuels.

After all, if your home is burning to the ground, the last thing you want to do is go back inside and throw another log on the fire.

Unfortunately for Extinction Rebellion, they appear to have been caught doing just that.

A recent video posted to Twitter appears to show that climate protesters in Berlin not only used a gasoline generator to power their camp, but also went through the extra step of hiding the noisy piece of machinery with wooden pallets and other scrap.

Genesis 1:27 King James Version (KJV)
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

If you believe this or have ever preached this. You my friend are a criminal. The worst kind, you are a Hater.

‘Belief in Genesis 1:27’ is ‘incompatible with human dignity’: Court

Human dignity, the defining value of the West, grows out of the Judeo-Christian belief that the human race was created in the image of God. However, a British court has officially pronounced this truth, revealed in the opening chapter of the Bible, “incompatible with human dignity.”

The case involved Dr. David Mackereth, who worked as a disability assessor for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). During an early evaluation meeting, a manager asked the 56-year-old Christian whether he would call a transgender person by his or her preferred pronouns, even if they do not correspond to the patient’s biological or observable sex.

The joys of living at Casa Misanthrope? There is no fvcking Candy Status here. No child is adventurous enough to show up in the middle of nowhere.

Since the people you are really trying to impress with your status candy are trick-or-treating kids (and, in turn, their parents), we found it telling that our kid sources all agreed on one thing that separates status from standard candy: the size of the bars. Liz Gumbinner, publisher and editor-in-chief of Cool Mom Picks, says that her kids consider “full-size anything” a big Halloween score, and her 14-year-old confirmed that nothing beats receiving a full-size candy bar. Isaac, the 12-year-old son of Didn’t I Just Feed You podcast co-host Stacie Billis, agrees. And Pam Frederick, a mom and the editor and owner of Tribeca Citizen, told us that for her kid, bigger is always better. “My kid says the best thing is a full-size bar, and the worst thing is a toothbrush or a protein bar,” she told us.

RIP Master Sgt. Mark Allen. Unfortunately, your death was in vain for a traitor.

etired Army Master Sgt. Mark Allen died on Saturday, 10 years after he was shot while looking for a missing soldier in Afghanistan back in 2009. He was 46.

Allen was unable to walk or speak since being shot in the head by a sniper in July 2009 during his attempted search for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who walked off his base in Afghanistan and was imprisoned by the Taliban for five years.

THE ONT MUSICAL INTERLUDE

This past January I passed on seeing Neil Young, age 73 in concert. In April of this year I saw Mott The Hoople 74 Reunion Tour. Front man Ian Hunter was 79 at the time. May saw me catching Nils Lofgren in concert. Nils is a punk at age 68. August took me to the John Kay concert. Kay performed solo and is 75 years old.

Why are we killing our rock stars? Asks some nobody by the name of James Cleveland at loudersound.com.

No one's denying a musician's right to tour. Once you've experienced the undiluted love a crowd can offer it must be a hard thing to forego. And as for the "they don't need any more money" argument for retirement, well, when did that apply to anyone, ever?

It's our fault. Every time a band tours, we get a diminished version of the previous experience, and we still pay up. The Rolling Stones of 2018 may have been a blast, but were the No Filter tour dates really as good as the Bigger Bang shows a decade ago? Or the Voodoo Lounge dates the decade before that? At some point diminishing returns must come into affect, and performing with a band is an athletic task. Usain Bolt retired at 31, so why are we expecting our rock stars to play into their 70s?

Why does my younger brother who is nearly "29" continue to play? He never made it big like those I previously mentioned. Performance is in his blood. There are a few musician Morons here. And I'm sure they could explain it better than your humble Cob.

I didn't ask or demand any of those artists to play in concert. Once something is in your blood that you love you never want to quit.

McGenius is a Genius Award Winner.

OCTOBER 11--An underage collegian who was caught drinking booze early today in an Iowa bar is facing a phony ID charge after cops reported spotting a “fake Hawaii ID with the name ‘McLovin,’” in his wallet, according to a court complaint.

During a 12:30 AM check at the Airliner Bar in Iowa City, cops questioned Daniel Burleson “while he had an alcoholic drink in his hand.” Burleson, 20, admitted that he was enjoying “a mixed drink containing vodka.”

After the University of Iowa business student was escorted from the premises, he gave police his ID, which showed that he was under 21. When cops then asked Burleson for his fake ID, he denied having one.

Seen above, Burleson then took out his wallet and began shuffling through it, the complaint states. That was when “police could see the def’s fake Hawaii ID with the name ‘McLovin’” and a June 1981 date of birth.

Nice mug shot, cheery.

Off in the distance you can hear the approach of the Turks. Now...you can see the Turks in their towering AT-AT Walkers...and they're opening fire! 71 Why does my younger brother who is nearly "29" continue to play? He
never made it big like those I previously mentioned. Performance is in
his blood. There are a few musician Morons here. And I'm sure they could
explain it better than your humble Cob.

I didn't ask or demand any of those artists to play in concert. Once
something is in your blood that you love you never want to quit.

I first played in front of a crowd at the tender age of 14. Had a great time and been doing it ever since, always locally. Still having a great time 15 years later *cough*. I've been places and done things I'da never been able to do otherwise.

Don't rightly know how to 'splain it, MisHum. Once it gets in your blood, there's really nothing you can do about it.

Old rockers? Sure, let 'em play.

Tony Bennett is still touring, although cancelled some recent concerts because of health.

Tony is 92.

The real problem is there are very few actual singers and musicians under 40 that are worth listening to any more.

Drinking age needs to be brought back to 18 if not 16 for beer and wine right now - the whole premise of the law is retarded - the crimes committed by teenagers under the influence since they began recording such events is the smallest segment of society, period. The underage drunk driving conviction rate alone proves that teenage driving under the influence is substantially low comparative to all other age ranges since such statistics were recorded. But binge drinking and "illegally" consumption is way up - gee, I wonder why? Could it be that 18 year old drinking is "illegal?"

Earlier today? we were talking about how California is a lost cause. The Democrats have so rigged the system that no Republican will ever be elected again, no matter how bad it gets there.

Doesn't this imply that once leftists accumulate enough power, then it is irreversible. You can never return to democracy.

If it is a one way ratchet for all time, then why are we bothering to fight? Eventually the ratchet will advance another notch and can't be reversed.

If it is impossible to ever save California, then it is impossible to reverse the tide of leftism and the country will be lost eventually.

In the days of my youth, 30-some years ago, I did a few trips into the other side of the Emigrant Wilderness with a group of friends. That hike is a butt-kicker, about 13 miles in with two 10,000+ foot passes to traverse. One of the guys in the group, with more brawn than brains, lugged in a one-man inflatable raft, at least 10 lbs., so he could troll the lakes. Don't recall if he did any better or worse fishin' than the rest of us (I got a couple of 18" brookies, plus some smaller brookies and rainbows, plus one golden trout).

But it's never too early to teach the kids the necessary Situational Awareness, E&E skills and other strategies.

151 Fake ID's have to be more sophisticated these days.

The bouncers have electronic ID readers now, and the info is coded on the back for it.

Little LCD showed me his fake ID he got for $100 a few years ago at college, and worked perfectly. His address was a medium sized town in Illinois.

For the $100, they get two copies of it, if the first one gets taken, you have a backup.

Fake ID for college students is a cottage industry.

And sorry about your furnace. My mom is extremely cold-natured, so if I was home and it had gone out there, I'd be hearing an earful. Actually, I'd probably be hearing it even when the furnace is working.

Of course not. Both the furnace and thermostat are shot. Plus I had
to have boiler work done today ( boiler heats family room). Wednesday
the fireplace is converted to high eff gas, and Thursday the new furnace
is installed.

My furnace was 15 years old when I bought the place in 86, replaced a thermocouple and valve in all that time. New one is 2 years old, I think I got lucky.

165 That's a production still from Escape from New York, isn't it?

A homeless guy across the street (welcome to Portland) has proved more details about the Antifa guy's death in front of Democratic Party headquarters.

Apparently, the Antifa people were in a car, got in an argument with a guy in a SUV (likely a "youth"), and exited the car. Gunfire was then directed at the SUV and the Antifa guy was stuck by the SUV, in an uncertain order.

The new account has the following stomach-churning detail:

The two people [Antifa-guy's friends] picked up the man, according to Perez, and started dragging him across the street, creating a trail of blood behind them.

The three eventually got into the car and drove off [to the hospital]

The guy was still alive when he got to the hospital - his "friends" treatment of him may well have killed him. Couldn't call for an ambulance, of course, because that would have involved the authorities.

As I am watching, in the middle of a scene, the picture seems to be doing a fade cut. For just a few seconds, I see a Ouija board on the screen. Then the board fades and I see the word "Friday" on the screen for a few seconds and then that fades.

I don't believe in things like Ouija boards but if something odd happens of Friday, you heard it here first.

I'll bet you're still a darned good cook, though. One thing I've learned since being on my own is that presentation doesn't matter. It's all about flavor and nutrition in that order.

Case in point: golabki. I'm not going to soften up the cabbage leaves and roll the rest of the stuff in them only to cook it all over again. The cabbage, pork, onion, rice, sauce and seasonings get chopped up and thrown into a pot. I cook for one and do it in bulk, and it's quite good.

I'm also adept at Excel. If your house is still without heat, I may be able to help with some spreadsheet formulas (although I don't think they'll help).

Oh, not all do, even the mainline churches. But a lot of individual congregations have been completely on the freakshow bandwagon for years. I visited my sister in STL over the summer, and a big, imposing looking Presbyterian church right down the street had the rainbow flag and that stupid blue/pink/white tranny flag flying right out front.

Depend on it, many of these churches will fold. The only reason the UMC hasn't is the African bishops who actually believe in the Bible finally managed to outvote the idiots at the conference this year.

I'm sorry about your husband.

Lots of Americans, including myself, sort of assumed that owning private arms for personal and national defense is an Israeli thing, but they haven't got the second amendment or really anything like it. You use one during your obligated service, but then you hand it back in. You need a permit to own one, and getting a permit for anything in Israel is about on par with Eastern Europe, from what I'm told. Lots of waiting for stamps and paperwork, lots of filing fees. I don't claim to know firsthand, though.

Bingo.

When Obama failed in his crusade against Little Sisters of the Poor over contraception, anyone who thought they'd stop is a fuckin' fool.

Now, they've got a new test case they've shopped out to an awful bitch named Barbara Morris, a doctor who works for Centura Health, a multi-denominational Christian hospital group in Colorado.

She (while working for Centura) found a patient who wanted an assisted suicide, which is strictly forbidden by Centura, she was refused permission and denied employment, and is now suing the company.

What it boils down to is this... even with SCOAMF backing the LSP attack, they failed. So now, they've figured out that: attacking Mother Teresa's religious order over an extremely controversial position like abortion is a non-starter.

But if you attack a 401(c)3 with religious affiliation over a more sympathetic position like assisted suicide, you may be more effective, and achieve the same ultimate goal. It's the old motte-and-bailey.

These power-monsters will never stop until they've brought G-d to heel.

Here's the problem with that and it goes all the way back to the Korean War; Congress has to vote on whether we are at WAR in a legal sense.

If they haven't then all this talk about this or that punishment due to actions someone takes fails because we haven't legally declared war on another country since 1941.

As a result all those punishments and crimes fail and have to be reduced.

Sorry it's just the way it is.

334 I love women.

Women need to be on guard. There are now numerous women in the woman world that want to create a woman world in which women create an image and an attitude in which women are supposed to eschew their womanliness that appeals to men and adopt some f-cking nasty ass dyke bitch image.

Dyke bitches sucks. Even a dyke bitch knows dyke bitches suck, because if you are a shaved-head dyke c*nt you are still supposed to be attracted to a feminine female. If you are a big, fat, nasty dyke bitch that likes some other sweaty disgusting masculine shaved head female with a strap on, you are really just a heterosexual that wants a man but you are too fat and disgusting and look like you've been hit in the face by a brick to attract a male, so you try to con some other fat disgusting dyke into thinking maybe she like getting a rubber appendage rammed in her.

So women should accentuate their womanhood. Be effeminate. Have big hooters pushed up into a shapely position by garments that show that you are feminine. Shave your pits. Shave your legs. Be desirable for god's sake. Don't be a dude with a snatch. Nobody likes that, not even big, fat disgusting dykes. Even they want a feminine chick that will fix biscuits and gravy in the morning, not be a c*nt, be every great thing that women are. No one wants a disgusting lesbo that has a bad attitude and wants to be a shit substitute for a male.

Be great. Be hot. Have nice hooters. Be well kept. Have social standards. Don't let any dude on meth stick his skinny wiener in you and defile you. Be discerning. Be mothers and wives and daughters. Be the kind of female that men fight wars over and fight drunken fights over. Be hawt, shapely, desirable women that inspire men to cure cancer, fly to the moon, drive in circles at 230 mph, tackle large people, shoot despots through the head, and stay home instead of plowing pints of brew at the pub over.

That's what women should be, and a man knows no greater joy than a wonderful feminine beauty batting her eyes, hugging him placing her firm breasts against him after a long day of trading his fleeting life for a meager pittance.

You inspire us, you drive us and you make the world worth living in. Live up to the inspiration you are.

"Direct action" is by definition not "peaceful" or "non-violent" and most always "goes beyond the bounds of the current law." This statement means two things. They are going to get violent, likely destroying property that the associate with "carbon." It's a call for "monkey wrenching" to go nationwide. And second it is a call to change "current law" to make their actions legal and those of the people they oppose illegal.

The proper response is "Bite me!"

You are confusing temperature with heat content. In gases, "temperature" can be related to the mean velocity of gas molecules or atoms, or parts thereof (plasma). IIRC, there is a "high temperature" region high in Earth's atmosphere, too. But it's also darned near a perfect vacuum. But the individual molecules are hot. But if you stuck your hand out the window of your space ship, you would freeze it solid from radiation cooling, despite it being pelted by a few dozen 2000-degree molecules.

Just because it's not possible to save it, doesn't mean it isn't possible to concentrate our force elsewhere and use that force to destroy California utterly, both economically and socially. That's where you go once peaceful methods like voting fail.

Speaking of birth control, I'm having a serious moral dilemma I plan to speak with a rabbi about, but I'm also wanting Horde opinion...

I have been unequivocally against abortion.

Also, my unborn daughter is going to be disabled. Her condition (Dandy-Walker) could range from mild to serious, and I am not considering abortion IN ANY WAY on this fact alone.

Moreover, the initial testing by about a dozen of the best doctors in the city suggests that this is (likely) a stand-alone condition, which may have genetic components, but so far, nothing suggests deadly and painful chromosomal comorbidities like trisomy-13 or -18.

But, there is a small possibility that it will present these.

If the further testing next month does (on an off-chance) reveal one of these, I just don't know what to do.

I haven't considered this in the past, because I didn't know what they were, and I never was forced to consider the idea of a doomed baby trapped in a deformed body and a living hell of constant pain, destined for a very early death.

Would an abortion in this unlikely case be a mercy killing? Even if it was, would I still be damned to She'ol and eternal separation from G-d anyway? If I would, is it worth it to spare her the pain?

378 I went to see Billy Joe Shaver, arguably the best song wrighter Nashville ever saw, three years ago. He spent as much time talking as he did singing, explaining each song and the thoughts behind them. Coming from the man who wrote Waylon's Honky Tonk Heroes album, who could argue. It was three hours of love, to and from one of the greats of country music. David Allen Coe is touring now, he's 84.
"If you're feeling lonely
And think you're the only one
Left that's alone in a bar
If you need somebody
With shoulders to cry on
Well, baby, I'm not very far
Just look for my name on a jukebox
When you're tired of being alone
Put in a dime
And I'll take the time
To sing you a sad country song"

That is a serious question, one of the most serious questions that can be asked. The hard question is what to do, the much easier question is "will I be damned?" So, the easy question first; we're put on this Earth with a mind and reasoning facilities, and we are expected to use those -- why have them otherwise? These are hard because he choice is truly yours - and while I don't believe there would be "eternal punishment" for any choice honestly and diligently made, even if it was mistake, I do know that you would have to live with that choice yourself for the rest of your life. Look in the mirror, can you live with who you see?

I remind myself that some of the things that I regret most were not "bad" things that I did, but rather were the times when I was absolutely, 100% convinced that I Was Right - and later on realized that I wasn't.

395 Because I just asked an individual who is in a position to know this shit.

Eddie Slovick was executed in 1944 because he figured that he would get a prison sentence and a bad conduct discharge for desertion, which was a better deal than continuing to serve in a combat unit.

He was given repeated opportunities to return to a combat unit without charges, and refused them all.

Eisenhower approved the execution, because he was worried that too many deserters were using Slovick's logic that prison was better than combat.

Note that Slovick did not desert to the Germans - in that sense, Berghdal is far worse than Slovick was.

409 As to the truly hard question, what choice to make, I could never presume to answer that for someone else. But I can say what would guide my decision, if I were to be faced with that. If I had absolute knowledge of the future, of all the consequences, then I would know clearly. But as much as I have tried, I have never yet been in a situation where I had such complete knowledge, and in fact there have been many times that events proceeded in a way that I thought was impossible, and yes, I mean life and death medical situations.
It sounds childish to believe in miracles, but I've seen some, and so have many others. They happen all the time if you keep your eyes open. If it were me having to make the decision, I would never choose to foreclose the possibility of a miracle forever. And I would accept that there were no promises given, and none that I had a right to expect. I would at least give the chance for grace to come down, and having done that I could live with the consequences, whatever they were.

I'm but one 'ron delivering a message of hope.

I dream of a world in which women support their men, offering support and sustenance, cleavage and soft, sweet-smelling, unmarred skin to their noble men that delve into a world of intolerable shit, fighting, scrapping and posturing to provide for their fairer other-haves that they might see their progeny aspire to ever-greater heights.

A world in which men, built for such measures, bear the unbearable on behalf of their females to spare them the indignity of the world in ignoble ways, such that their eye-of-the-beholder muses may impart their other-worldly maternal abilities in peace and security, impervious to the evils and perils of the outside world.

Will women, wrongly tempted, invariably break the social contract? It's invariable. But wear the roll willingly that was assigned to us we must, for to do otherwise is unacceptable and unfathomable.

To feel the slight of a harpy assassin, to have one's skull bashed upon the rocks, even repeatedly to the point of death, is not to discard the desire to birth-inspired desire to habituate with the loving, caring, desirable female. She is the source of inspiration from which we all sup.

First off - thanks to everyone for their prayers and their well-considered responses.

Second and specifically to FH - this is the important question.

The why is simple - all human life is sacred, until it's profaned. And an innocent little baby is pure. I can't countenance it's killing.

But if I have foreknowledge that her life will be an unremitting agony, do I have the responsibility to forestall that? Do I have a responsibility to forgo or ignore that knowledge, and leave it to fate? If I have it (and I will, due to our amazing doctors), am I morally culpable for permitting that pain?

These are my burning questions.

435 Tis time.

Something to ponder, current troubles not withstanding:

We live in the most exceptional country on the planet, populated by an extraordinary people.

We achieved this stature by virtue of being governed by a political system unique in history.

Throughout our existence we have met and prevailed over situations that have toppled lesser countries. Even a cursory look at our past will bear this out.

We'll prevail through this current battle just as we have prior. I know this from the bottom of my soul.

Some of us won't see the ultimate victory but it is as sure as sunrise, no matter the cost.

So kind of keep that in mind when things get a bit hard to take.

And ALWAYS remember we are Americans so you hold that head HIGH and PROUD.

Our heritage requires it.

Goodnite, good people. Be safe and sleep well.

I can't presume to begin to answer any of these questions.

(Mind you, I said seemingly simple. If you go this route, it will take effort.)

Namaste.

440 If the further testing next month does (on an off-chance) reveal one of these, I just don't know what to do.

Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at October 14, 2019 11:56 PM (XycDL)

I am praying for you and yours.

Life can be cruel. But we, as human beings, do what we can to endure, thrive even.

I believe this.

Posted by: Pug Mahon, Ulster Scot at October 15, 2019 12:36 AM (x8Wzq)

442 Do I have a responsibility to forgo or ignore that knowledge, and leave it to fate? If I have it (and I will, due to our amazing doctors), am I morally culpable for permitting that pain?

These are my burning questions.
Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice

YD - I believe the answer to your first question is "Yes". Our Lord has entrusted to men and women the noble mission of safeguarding life, in all it's forms.

Second question - No, you are not morally culpable for permitting pain. If you do all you can do to reduce it or manage it, that is all one can do. Those that are weakened are owed special respect.

Difficult questions - yes. All life is precious. Perhaps your daughter's life, however long or short, is meant to teach you and those around you something extraordinary that no other can impart. We, of course, simply don't know what that would be.

3. Dire Straits. "Sultans of Swing" or "Telephone Road". Long versions, if they're on the 'box.

4. Chicago II. "Memories of Love". No, it's not as long as the others, but you'll never hear Terry Kath's amazing voice as fully as in this song.

458 Another good shop day working on the poor wretched Panhard. Got the patch panel formed and installed on the right front door sill. Then I turned my attention to the under-seat cross-member. The car floor was flat, from stem to stern, same as a VW Beetle. (well, it has stiffening ribs pressed in it, but no major curves) The set brackets sit upon an arched semi-cylinder that spans the width of the car, and is tied into the door sills at each end, and to the floor by spot welds where they meet. It's not a full half-cylinder, more like, viewed end-on, it runs from 10:00 to 2:00. The floor panel beneath it was mostly rusted away, and that in front of it, the main front floor was completely rusted away, insofar as having any strength goes. The rear edge of this tube is still more or less securely attached to the rear floor, which is mostly intact.

So I cut me a pair of patch panels, each 30" long by 8" wide, and put opposed 45 degree bends in each using my antique home-made bending brake. One of the lips of each patch panel sticks forward at floor level, and forms a ledge for me to set the new floor pan onto, and the 45 degree riser sort of matches the front of the tubular section, and the other flat lip spans the top of the tubular section. Geometry-wise, those two sections form chords to the arc of the curved tube, and are sized such that they hug the inside of the tube pretty closely. I made it in two pieces because my bending brake is limited to about 36 inches.

Anyway, I clamped these patch panels in place, and drilled numerous quarter-inch holes through both patch panel and cross-member, and joined them with quarter-inch bolts, nuts, and large washers. Several dozen of them. That did it for the day. I will weld a few spots where welding might do some good, but the seat cross-member is already much stiffer than it was, and once the front floor is in place, it ought to be fine again.

It is the "Tigre" model, with two-barrel carb, and 50 horsepower out of two cylinders, and faux tiger-skin vinyl upholstery. If it were not a "special" car in terms of its competition history, and also in terms of how it came to be in my hands, I would have parted it out, so rusty it is. I went to a mediocre hospital at first (it'll remain nameless). It had competent doctors who didn't care much and were looking to keep the books clear of people like me with children who have serious problems.

Next, I went to a world-famous doctor who did a fantastic job, but was very, very cagey, and also looking to rid himself of me, for reasons I don't quite understand.

But the people at Children's (while they may not Dr. X's global fame) seemed every bit, if not even more competent, and above even that: universally kind and compassionate.

They've done everything in their power to give us the best care, replete with panels of top-notch pros to speak with us personally, and to do their best to reassure us.

And as a bonus: while they are required to mention abortion as an option for sick babies, not one of them pushed it for more than the half-second required.

I don't know about VA.

But I've known vets who say the same thing as you, who came up here. I also once met a vet who moved here permanently, for that very reason (from his VA hospital in the South)

And I've been seriously injured many times, so I've been to a lot of the hospitals on my own.

I think Denver's pretty typical in distribution, be it the good, the bad, or ugly ('Dr.' Hernandez-Fernandez being an example of the 'ugly').

But our best really do seem to be Top. Men.

Now really, I'm off to bed.

Good Morning ONT Morons; today is Tuesday, October 15, 2019. On this day in 1764 Edward Gibbon was inspired to begin his work on The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. I tried to read this weighty tomb one time. Not only was it boring, but in my opinion he laid all the blame of the decline of Rome on the adoption of Christianity. In fact, Rome did not collapse as he wrote in his work. It split up into component parts with individual cities and their surrounding areas becoming independent countries. This site explains why Rome broke up the way it did. If you want to call that a 'Fall' then that's OK. The empire fell as a whole entity, but the Roman Republic ideas did not.

590 561 Speaking of an uncontrolled communist organization, the ATF is dropping a case it was bringing against a man who had set up a business where people could come in and build their own 'un-registered' AR-15s. Why? Not because the AHs didn't want to prosecute the guy, but because they were afraid of a bad ruling by the courts which may lead to crashing the whole unconstitutional 1968 gun-grabbing act.

I keep getting noticed from FF wanting to do another update. I keep telling them no. The last update trashed all my links and screwed everything up. I still haven't completely recovered from it.

I finally saw something on Apple Support. Looks loke a big problem. Off to do the troubleshooting.

Have a serene day. Thank you for the links. I'll examine them on my return.

And for all, may every traffic light turn green on your way home.

597 So I see where a puff piece on Panera Bread was being filmed and broadcast locally.

Worker inadvertently reveals that the Mac and Cheese arrives in big bags, and is rewarmed by hot water immersion.

Exactly like the soup is done.

So the worker was fired for revealing that the Mac isn't fresh made in the store.

616 " Why is it when archeologists find human remains, they're either male or female and not the other 700?"

What you are referring to is the immutable trait known as 'Sex".

Which is revealed in both pelvic structure, and the very DNA of the individual in question.

Which is not to be confused with 'Gender' which is a mental construct, and is both flexible, and leaves no immutable evidence in the remains.

See.......completely different categories.

Unless you are the Left, and wish to argue in Court that Sex and Gender are synonymous.

Watching a guy on Youtube last night, Dave Jones, an Australian who runs EEVBlog, an electronics video blog. Dude knows tons about electronics and engineering, but last night had no clue what Hanukah or a menorah were. Kept thinking the electronic menorah PC board someone sent him was 'something you put on your Christmas tree.'

I don't know if Judaism isn't as common down there or if this guy with expertise in one field has a lot of wider cultural illiteracy, but that was really, really odd.
