We Are Shocked To Discover That The Constitution Gives The President Authority Over Foreign Policy! Shocked!

I am sure that all of you are, like me, breathlessly waiting for the next blockbuster charge to be flung against the White House walls by the barking-mad moonbats of the media. Those charges are so often based on the sleazily leaked half-truths and disinformation leaked to them by their compatriots and handlers in the Deep State. But as Angelo Codevilla writes, the Constitution gives the president essentially all the power to conduct foreign policy, and all of the braying and whining and backstabbing in the media arsenal isn't going to change that. Shamelessness and Ignorance Unlimited

The U.S. intelligence community’s leaders, the Democratic Party, and the media (excuse the redundancy) are trying to convince Americans that President Trump’s conversation with, and perhaps promises to, an unnamed foreign leader amounts to some sort of constitutional crisis. Never mind that the Constitution vests “the executive Power” in the “President of the United States,” a power that includes “by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to make treaties . . . appoint ambassadors and other public ministers . . . ” The Constitution also says the president “shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States.”

But, oh, the scandal!

Once upon a time, so goes a story made up to ridicule the voting public, an official who had been dean of a college was run out of office after his opponent accused him of having looked at female students’ theses in private, and had invited to campus traveling troops of thespians.

No doubt Trump is equally guilty of negotiating with a foreign leader in ways that involve classified information. The deep state is counting on today’s American voters to be just as ignorant.

I thought Obama was a sleazy prick who was not pursuing the best interests of the United States, but he was the president, so there wasn't much to do about that except vote him out of office. We tried and failed. My suggestion to the Democrats and the media (BIRM) is to try that tactic instead of all of the ridiculous crap you have been throwing around, hoping that some of it will stick. My anecdotal evidence suggests that most Americans, even my loony-liberal relatives don't give a shit about this kind of crap.

In fact, I think a concerted effort to improve your 2020 electoral chances might be your best bet. I suggest that all of you who hate President Trump fall in line behind a ticket of Sanders/Harris. Hell, Cap'n Kristol is probably weeks away from supporting it.

7 The whole Biden-Trump-Ukraine situation illustrates in clear and stark terms that the media are corrupt Democrat apparatchiks and are working hand in glove with the Deep State.

Biden
is on tape literally saying he used the pressure of losing aid on
Ukraine to drop an investigation involving his son and the media just
tries to flip it as a Trump scandal when he wants it rightly re-visited.

This also illustrates the stark danger of the Deep State as it applies to Trump.

They
are monitoring and watching every move he makes and is essentially a
President operating under extreme duress with enemies both internal
and external to the executive branch, foreign and domestic.

This situation is extremely dangerous and must end.

"Are you aware that Claude Pepper is known all over Washington as a shameless extrovert? Not only that, but this man is reliably reported to practice nepotism with his sister-in-law, he has a brother who is a known homo sapiens, and he has a sister who was once a thespian in wicked New York. Worst of all, it is an established fact that Mr. Pepper, before his marriage, habitually practiced celibacy."

There's no evidence Smathers said any such thing. It was made up by a reporter.

this is hilarious on so many levels.

No-one who has listened to NPR since the 70's believes that NPR has anything to do with Classical music programming.

American Classical music is country, jazz, swing, bluegrass and klesmir. With a side of marching band.
The closestNPR has gotten to it in 30 years besides bumper music and incidental music for Kielor's weekly two hour Progressive-Liberal religious revival, was Marian McPartlan's Piano jazz, and she is both dead and white as Betty Crocker.

If the staff up at NPR want non-white classical music, they should get their lily white north eastern liberal asses out and write some.

74 The is the Left's standard tactic these days.

If an anti-leftist points out or exposes a leftist crime or evil, the focus in the media is instead always on the mechanism by which the anti-leftist acted -- NEVER on the crime or evil itself.

Examples:

-- Pro-life activist catch Planned Parenthood on camera scheming to sell dismembered baby parts. What happened? OMG YOU FILMED SOMEONE SECRETLY, DID YOU GET PERMISSION? WE ARE SENDING YOU TO JAIL for the crime of journalism!

-- Biden's family caught red-handed doing treasonous illegal deals with Ukraine. Trump points this out, asks that it be investigated. The result? OMG TRUMP'S IN LEAGUE WITH FOREIGNERS! No mention is made of WHY Trump talked with the Ukrainians -- a perfectly legitimate (and expected) thing to do.

-- Hillary exposed as endangering national security by setting up illegal insecure server in her home, allowing it to be hacked by anyone and everyone. Trump jokes about her incompetence and criminality. Result? OMG TRUMP IS SPYING ON HILLARY OMG OMG.

The narrative arc is always the same. Blame the whistle-blower, accuse the accuser.

The left is just straight-up evil, plain and simple.

There is a Whistleblower Statute that when a federal employee "suspects" wrongdoing, they are supposed to write up a report and submit it to their superior, who then presents it to his superior. Looks like that's what was done. (never mind that the accusation should have been shot down immediately)

But I don't see the NA lefties sitting still long enough for that to happen; they know they're on a timer.
And just because it's the most peaceful resolution, doesn't mean it's the best one, or even a good one. A number of questions need to be answered for at least a few generations.

Insty links to the Working Families Party taking intense heat from the Bernie Bros for endorsing Warren. So it's going to be tough to portray the Democrat Party as having a big wigwam.

Each of their wannabes has appeal limited to a narrowis slice of true believers, and huge drawbacks for the general election. Biden's senile and a gaffe machine, Bernie is a lunatic pushing ancient Marxist crap, Warren is a phony opportunist and an HOA Nazi, Harris is a nasty opportunist slut, Buttplug is a hard left flaming fruit, and the rest don't even budge the needle.

"Jazz" basically refers to the popular music of the US between 1917 and 1955. There are various subgenres in each era, but they're all just forms of "jazz" -- in chronological order, Dixieland, "hot jazz," swing, Big Band, bebop, "cool jazz."

After 1955, rock 'n' roll supplanted jazz as the primary popular music of the US, and jazz quickly fell into decline and became mostly irrelevant. As a side-effect of this, jazz split into two opposite streams -- "pop jazz," really boring and treacly sorta-jazz (think Mel Torme, Barbra Streisand, th Longines Symphonette, etc.) intended to appeal to people who deemed themselves too old for rock; and "modern jazz," completely unlistenable experimental dissonant jazz, to distinguish its listeners as being (in their own minds) too hip and smart for the average rock-loving Nearderthal.

It is that final category -- modern (i.e. post 1955) experimental jazz that you (and I) and most sane people find so unlistenable and offensive. Because it not only INTENTIONALLY sounds horrible, but it comes with a built-in patina of smug pretension -- i.e. "If you don't like or understand this music, then you are stupider and less evolved than me." Pure assholism, in musical form.

Posted by: zombie at September 22, 2019 03:49 PM (Q3dyo)

100 Always Late, re local power brokers, we have an interesting situation in our county right now with the Dems:
A black female pastor who has made her local name finding racism and inequity under every blade of grass is running for the soil and water conservation board, as a stepping stone to higher office, having been so-advised by the local committee to do that instead of challenging their guy for supervisor in the district in which she lives.
The soil and water board is the last refuge of a Kennedy-wannabe guy who retreated there after losing several larger local elections. (he appears on Ari Melber regularly, aging bond Irishman with a bowtie)
This woman attended her first-ever meeting of the board for which she is running last week, and promptly said she could not stand being in a room with so many white people, that things needed to change in this racist group.
She has zero clue what the conservation board's metes and bounds are, and fifth-Kennedy-bro went nuts on social media, said the committee was wrong to endorse her, needed to retract their support, and incumbent Republicans were better choices for the actual mission of the body.

This guy is total TDS, conspiracy hound, the works, and he is standing his ground against her candidacy, taking much flak from his erstwhile moonbat allies.

Of course, he is old, white, and straight, so she is bitchslapping him all over the airwaves, but it is still a huge surprise to me that Mr. Intersectional Prog has finally met the part of the long-made bed he won't sleep in, now that the shit is in his little corner of power.

A slight correction - Jazz refers to the popular URBAN music in large US Cities between 1917 - 1955. A majority of the country, who did NOT live in those cites, were listening to the Carter Family and their offshoots, and then all of the Opry Stars nightly.

Hank Williams was more popular, by a HUGE margin, than any jazz singer that ever lived. And more influential, too. Williams leads to Elvis leads to Rock.

148 Oh, I dunno. I'm not a big jazz fan at all, but there's been plenty of good stuff since the 50's. Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong were still kicking for a long time, Miles Davis did some great stuff before he went off the deep end, and I have two Wynton Marsalis albums that I listen to often (Hot House Flowers and Standard Time Vol. 1).

The ratio of dreck to good music is pretty high in the pop/rock scene, too, after all. Especially in these days of modern times.

At least with jazz you generally get actual, you know, musicians.

I saw it, and I disagree. Country and Western grew out of Gospel and Southern Blues and Appalachian folk music, and in terms of numbers it was FAR more popular than jazz and it's derivatives. Of course they all cross pollinated each other; but country of the late 40's and early 50's turns into Rockabilly and then it bifurcates; one branch becomes Rock and Roll, and one branch becomes today's country music. (And the British Invasion of 1964 changed everything) The reason Jazz is an afterthought now is that it didn't have any successors and just died out, unless you want to consider Steely Dan a successor.

152 Lots of misinformation on here about jazz, which is under a huge umbrella of things, most of which I hate. The avant garde has always been a sub niche and that will never change.

First four game sweep by the Cardinals in Wrigley since 1921. Even Stan the Man never experienced it.

If he can't help grow my penis (and I for one believe he CAN!), then I'll try that new product all the guys are talking about now-- you know, Penis Helper.

If THAT fails...I'm headed to Lourdes.
