...@JacksonLeeTX18 AR-15 "weighs as much as 10 moving boxes and fires a .50 cal round" I sometimes wonder about the yardsticks some people use. "As big as ten soccer fields." "Twice as tall as the Statue of Liberty." Yardsticks many people can't relate to very well. So I need some info. Are these, like, ten of the smallest moving boxes fresh from U-Haul with nothing in them? Or, say, ten of those huge closet boxes, but stuffed full with books? I hate moving. Late to the thread. I like Tissot's paintings for the use of color, more subtle than brilliant, and the layout of the scene. This one, and similar paintings, seem to show a sense of humor in the overly dressed women. Maybe that's just me. This one in particular shows that with the so fashionable lady, inappropriately dressed for a boat ride, against the plain clothing of the boatmen and the narrow quay. She's pretty well hobbled by that gathering around the knees. And her expression! Tissot could have included a caption: "Oooh, Aren't I so fashionable and special!" (He would have written it in French, I guess.) The expression reminds me of some of the 'surprised' look on 1940s and 50s pinup pictures.
Having said that, the painting is very attractive and rather fun. I can see why Tissot would have been so popular. Posted by: JTB at September 23, 2019 10:30 AM (bmdz3) 265

84:4.3 (935.3) Early woman was not to man a friend, sweetheart, lover, and partner but rather a piece of property, a servant or slave and, later on, an economic partner, plaything, and childbearer. Nonetheless, proper and satisfactory sex relations have always involved the element of choice and co-operation by woman, and this has always given intelligent women considerable influence over their immediate and personal standing, regardless of their social position as a sex. But man's distrust and suspicion were not helped by the fact that women were all along compelled to resort to shrewdness in the effort to alleviate their bondage. Wry understatement! Posted by: Axeman at September 23, 2019 10:28 AM (DuZls) Throughout history, the abusive arranged marriages have tended to happen much more often in the Upper Classes and the Nobility, where marriage is treated as a business contract between two families vying for power. To build on that, judgment is a skill that requires both instruction and practice to get the most out of. People now are being taught not to use it, to disavow using judgment in the name of fairness. This leaves them as sitting ducks for any scoundrel that wants to exploit them.

But for me, Rosenstein would have to explain the whole widening the Weismann probe, and his multiple changes to the scope of the Weismann investigations, even given they were finding bupkis on Russia. Ultimately the big "interference" that they could pin on Russia could not be proven in court and the Weismann prosecutors were compelled by a judge to stop implying that the Russian ad firm was acting on the orders of Putin if they could not come close to proving it in court. It's amazing that sooo many people in the US do not know what a sham the Weisman investigation was and ultimately only ended up throwing Paul Manafort in prison over something that both Podesta brothers could have been convicted for with their dealings with ACTUAL RUSSIA. The recent asshattery of the likes of Romney and Mike Lee has got me thinking about the many parallels between Joseph Smith, the founder of their religion, with the founder of another major religion.
For starters, they both dubbed themselves prophets and both produced a new holy book that was allegedly given to them directly by an angel. They were both sexual predators who were able to use the rules of their new faiths to enable their sexual appetites. They both inspired militant followers who conquered wide new territories. One could write a very interesting paper about how the feds made the Mormons abide by the rule of law and its lessons for the assimilation of the other religion. And the coup de gras with the cherry on top is when we hear the argument that a woman should be elected president just because she's a woman. This is based on the premise that all women love peace and all that stuff and the world will be a blissful utopia where peace and love will rule, not those icky men who are all warmongers. Men as provisioners(and being rewarded for beta traits like dilligence and loyalty) is a patriarchal. Being an average well off dude is not sexually attractive, and a woman who has their own means of financial support has no reason to marry or stick with such a person. The Great Society did not provide incentives to enable men to fly solo, it provided support for women to do so. In matriarchal societies, which are typically primitive, men don't really work because there's not much incentive to do so. Posted by: Someguy at September 23, 2019 10:53 AM (Wj9tV) 347

I found the source of that quote, and I get what they're trying to argue for, ok it's not completely bad. But the quote about "early man" and "early woman" is still just.. stupid, for lack of a better world. Those things can't be understood unless one understands what the values of small nomadic family groups of maybe 30 individuals, maximum, were. It would be nothing at all like societies that have developed, for example, when studying aboriginal groups that still exist, such as the Bushmen, even basic concepts such as "property" are alien to them. In my nabe, you could easily confuse today with 1982. It's all nuclear families, about 1/2 the moms don't work outside the home. Kids play outside, ride their bikes around the neighborhood, parents all know the neighbor kids, etc.
All the kids are in some type of activity like sports, dance, gymnastics, music, etc. But it's always secondary, school being priority #1. It's all about parental involvement. Get kids with parents that care, they turn out OK. Get kids with absent fathers, mothers who don't give a fuck, the kids turn out shitty. And all the govt programs and trillions of welfare in the world won't change this. Posted by: Lurking Lurker - Not In My Purview at September 23, 2019 10:59 AM (FiUMj) 363

Tom Servo: You cannot talk about "early man" while using modern cultural and social assumptions.
The next line was, "The sexes have had great difficulty in understanding each other." Hilarious understatement, applicable for any generation. I think the generalizations are sufficient to make the point about stages of development of the man-woman relationship. While "as a rule" or "on the whole" we've progressed, it's not a universal absolute by any stretch. We like to think of ourselves as well past troglodyte age today, yet one can find "early man/woman" and "primitive societies" and so on at many underpasses in modern Democrat-run cities, among the better-dressed like of, say, Epstein's associates, and in certain rock-worshiping sects. by counterfeiting the Constitution as theorized and giving us the bits of the Constitution they can allow us to have.
========= No. You must understand, the constitution is a living document. It must be considered within the context of the current times and adjustments made for changing culture, technology and intrinsic white privilege. When you understand that it must be re interpreted to suit the goals of the elites, only then will you be truly free. Posted by: Soros - call me George at September 23, 2019 11:24 AM (rRzHb) 452

WSJ poll showed 69% don't like Trump on a personal level. Which I can believe. He kind of irritates me too, but I'll crawl over broken glass to vote for him. Posted by: Lurking Lurker - Not In My Purview Did anyone "like" Patton? Grant? Posted by: Bertram Cabot, Jr. at September 23, 2019 11:22 AM (aKsyK) Patton mostly had sycophants, not too many friends. Grant had Sherman. Of the two, I'd rather serve under Patton. The more I read about Grant, the more he's coming off as a passive-aggressive asshole towards some of his fellow generals.

Did anyone "like" Patton? Grant? -------- Sherman liked Grant. They had both gone to bat for each other earlier in their careers. Lincoln liked him too. But yeah, he sure did take a lot of shit. Patton - I'm having a hard time coming up with anyone. And he really couldn't have cared any less. A baller, down to the core. In matriarchal societies, which are typically primitive, men don't really work because there's not much incentive to do so.

Arrest just announced!
Police arrested Sanchez Montalvo in connection with the mass drug overdoses on the South Side. He was taken into custody without incident at a house in McKees Rocks 3 a.m. this morning. Investigators confirmed that Sanchez - Montalvo was at the Insomnia Discotec in Brookline on Saturday night, where orange wristbands were distributed to patrons. All of the overdose victims wore orange wristbands. At some point in the evening, Sanchez-Montalvo left Insomnia and went to the South Side apartment, where he had been staying. Several other individuals who were at Insomnia, including members of the band that played at the bar on Saturday night, joined him for what was described as an "after-party." Sanchez-Montalvo distributed a white powdered substance, believed to be cocaine, to those in attendance. Shortly after, multiple people became seriously ill. Three of them died at the scene. Public Safety Director Wendell Hissrich, who was on scene Sunday morning when the overdoses were first reported, thanked Pittsburgh EMS, Fire and Police for their swift responses Sunday morning and for working tirelessly to save lives. In addition, he thanked the public and media for providing important information during this incident. Hissrich also thanked law enforcement agencies, including the FBI's Western Pennsylvania Opioid Task Force, which is comprised of law enforcement officers from the FBI, Port Authority Police of Allegheny County, the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office, the North Versailles Police Department and the Stowe Twp. Police Department, along with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Posted by: Deep State is in Deep Shit at September 23, 2019 11:36 AM (BqBId) 464
