UC Irvine Professor: We're Nearing the End of Democracy, Because The Rabble Won't Permit Their Thoughts to Be Controlled by a Smug and Non-Elite Elite Anymore

Oh no that's terrible.

John Sexton quotes from Politco to explain the thesis-- it's the standard Democrat/Socialist/Obama cant that the public can't understand how awesome and smart we are because they're too dumb.

Rosenberg, who earned degrees at Yale, Oxford and Harvard, may be the social scientist for our time if events play out as he suggests they will. His theory is that over the next few decades, the number of large Western-style democracies around the globe will continue to shrink, and those that remain will become shells of themselves. Taking democracy’s place, Rosenberg says, will be right-wing populist governments that offer voters simple answers to complicated questions.

And therein lies the core of his argument: Democracy is hard work and requires a lot from those who participate in it. It requires people to respect those with different views from theirs and people who don’t look like them. It asks citizens to be able to sift through large amounts of information and process the good from the bad, the true from the false. It requires thoughtfulness, discipline and logic.

Unfortunately, evolution did not favor the exercise of these qualities in the context of a modern mass democracy.

Oh - I think Harvard Guy is onto the right idea for all the wrong reasons.

Big Nation States are on the way out, the same way Big Companies are struggling in their last death throws. Big Everything is at a disadvantage. Thank the Information Age.

The notion of Economy of Scale is dying before our eyes. Smaller organizations are more nimble. Communication is effortless. There is very little "Institutional Knowledge" anymore. There's not much reason left to stay "big" just for the virtue of being "big".

The last big Nation States held together by force and bureaucracy are the USA, EU, and China. Democracy isn't the glue. Force and Bureaucracy are.

Democracy - such as it is - is why people are self-sorting. What does any group capable of self-sustaining do ? Why - they look for independence from the whole. They look for self-determination. They look for freedom. What could be anymore Democratic than that ?

The Information Age makes that easier than ever. So of course those who espouse Democracy hate it. They're not Democrats at all. Just like those who love the idea of a Republic on paper hate the notion of a Republic that can willingly go it's separate ways. Which without that right, ain't no Republic at all.

Hence, "Antifa" is not an astroturfed fake organization of social misfits and radical basement dwellers promoting political violence and fascism (only white supremacists would even think such a thing!!), noooooo, in fact they are a critical organic movement fighting those things. Right of center people are guilty of all sorts of social ills, and to fight the right, lefties are being forced to take ever more tyrannical positions. That's what a lefty thinks.

Accordingly, what Professor Rosenberg really thinks is: "Taking democracy's place, Rosenberg says, will be left-wing globalist governments that offer voters simple answers to complicated questions."

All those stupid choices we see them all making ? Do you think they'll never fail ? If anything - the US will fail as an entity, by our constant propping up of them. They've ceased to innovate. They're bleeding at all their edges. They can't endure in their current state. So they won't.

Populism is just a concept that distrusts the elite for the ordinary. So what? Free markets run by ordinary people? Is that what he's objecting to? I suppose it is. Evolution did fine. What evolution didn't do well was prepare us for a toalitarian political movement that infiltrates education and government under false pretenses, lies about its premise and intent, then systematically deplatforms, silences and outright dehumanizes and physically attacks anyone who points any of that out.

A sane and well prepared free people would categorize the above movement as itself a crime against humanity and treat members promoting it accordingly.

A REPUBLIC should not be hard work at all because the rule of law should limit government to something too small to destroy your life. So what is there to really work at other than your own life?

A REPUBLIC should be happy days of mostly ignoring the people that you elected to take care of a limited number of things and if they screw it up still not enough of a disaster that you can't just vote for someone else next time.

Example: One of my clients sent me a ong email detailing how I am supposed to handle their sensitive data. OK fine, fair enough. But then I had to take an online course on how to do it. Then another one. Then a third one. Each one of these 30 minute classes saying the exact same thing which is basically don't share sensitive date with anyone.

And then I got another email after the 3rd one from some Security flunky reminding me to uhm, not share sensitive data with anyone, and here are some online classes on the subject.

It was like Office Space and TPS reports and that shit happens every day in every big company. They are basically too retarded to be evil.

We can't manage the tech we have. I install automation knowing they don't have the manpower or skill to keep it going. I'm not doing anything "cutting edge". But there was a time where running a milling machine well was "cutting edge".

The whole shit-storm about Health Care is just a bitch-fest about making modern miracles cheap. People would truly be happier - truly - seeing everyone die over a liver failure rather than some live and others don't.

The notion of Big Anything - Big Corporate, Big Government - somehow getting the right people to the right place at the right time doesn't work. The Gig Economy will - if you can do the right Gig. It's the best expression of Capitalism I've seen in my life.

We're willowed as shit, but what Colorado Alex thinks is what I think.

Trump is going to win 2020. He just is. The Dems are going to throw their most viable socialist at him and lose.

The Dems will win 2024. There's no such thing as Trumpism, there's only Trump. Pence is not Trump. No one is. And the country always swings the pendulum.

So, a Dem is going to win 2024. Deal with it.

If Tulsi is prepositioning herself to repudiate the socialists and win the center I'm all for it.
