Cooking shows, we have all seen them one time or another. How does one go about making a new show stand out from the wasteland of television? New Cooking Competition Show Will Have Chefs Try to Recreate Dishes after Having Been Shot in the Face with Said Dishes by a Food Cannon

The premise of Dishmantled is a compelling one. It summons the heroic spirit within the human psyche and thus makes for must-watch TV.

In it, cook contestants are shot in the face with a dish by a food cannon. From what they can feel, smell, and taste on their face, they must then recreate that dish faster and more accurately than their competitors. Deadline reports that Tituss Burgess, one of the stars of Unbreakable Kelly Schmidt, will host the show.

I'm very fortunate, I've been working remote for years. It isn't for everybody. But, more and more people are working remote.

Remote work isn’t just here to stay, it’s becoming the new norm. A way of working that people love and strive for.

Not just the people who work 100% remotely today either. We’re all exposed to remote work on a weekly - if not daily - basis.

Whether it’s a meeting where someone joins from home or another office. Collaborating with a vendor who works in another location. Or working from home or a co-working space part of the week. We’re all increasingly exposed to forms of remote work.

And the tools are here to help. Productivity tools have caught up to the remote trend. Remote integrates seamlessly into our work lives. Thanks to the likes of Slack, Zoom, Google Hangouts, G Suite, Office 365, Evernote, our partner on the survey Miro, and the slew of other ever-expanding and new cloud collaboration tools.

But the tools aren’t enough to make remote work. There are behavioral changes that organizations and people need to make in order for remote work to be successful. We’ll cover tips from remote workers on how to best work remotely, plus all the other juicy insights we learned about remote work and meetings.

When you think of sexual deviants, who do you think of? Probably not an 85 year old woman and her 82 year old hubby.

Connecticut residents have turned a wooded conservation area in Fairfield into their own sexual playground — with cops catching multiple people hooking up in the open space, including a pair of 80-somethings.

The public escapades went down last week in the Grace Richardson Conservation Area, according to the CTPost.

Six people — between the ages 62 and 85 — were arrested and charged with breach of peace and public indecency as part of a surveillance operation conducted by the Fairfield Police Department.

The first of two Genius Award Winners.

Michael Comeau, the principal at Holy Family Catholic school in Port Allen and an educator who previously received the prestigious $25,000 Milken award, has resigned after his arrest early Friday at a Washington D.C. strip club while on a school field trip to the nation's capital.

Dan Borne, spokesman for the Diocese of Baton Rouge, said in a statement that the incident occurred while Comeau was with students on a school-sponsored trip, though students were in their hotel rooms under the supervision of other chaperones when Comeau was arrested. Comeau submitted his resignation as principal, Borne said. An interim principal will be appointed.

According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched about 2:20 a.m. Friday to Archibald's Gentlemen's Club on a complaint about "an intoxicated man refusing to pay his bill."

The report says Comeau, 47, was found standing in a roadway "refusing to move." He was asked to move "multiple times" but "refused."

As Ron White would say, "he had the right he did not have the ability to."

Dirt is not a good product to use for anger management. Genius Award Winner.

AUGUST 16--A Florida Man used a front-end loader to dump a bucket of dirt on the vehicle his girlfriend drove to a meeting with him yesterday afternoon, police report.

Cops charge that Hunter Mills, 20, met Thursday with the woman on a road adjacent to Phil-dirt Inc., an Okaloosa County excavation firm that sells top soil and assorted landscaping materials. Mills’s connection to the company is not addressed in an arrest report. While the report lists Mills’s most recent educational or work affiliation as Crestview High School, it seems likely he is a graduate of that institution.

After the woman arrived at the meeting site in a white 2010 Cadillac, Mills “approached in a front-end loader with a load of dirt in the bucket.” According to investigators, when Mills’s girlfriend “refused to answer a question,” he proceeded to commit a felony.

20 Hey everybody!
Just got back an hour ago from the 2019 Southern California Moron Meetup at Kelsey's Bar & Grill at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula.

Overall I have to say it was a resounding success. We had 6 attendees and myself, so I was able to give away all the merch that Ben Had, Weasel, Bluebell and Jewells so generously provided, without anyone having to go home empty handed! Our attendees were:

- Geewhiz
- motionview
- CAtoken
- Eric Golub (he's okay with being listed by name, and he's a lurker only, but supports Ace a ton)
- Jeff (also a lurker who supports AoS a ton)
- John (also a lurker who greatly supports AoS)
...and of course, your humble qdpsteve.

I also have some pictures I'd like to share. Only one shows an identifiable person, who said he is perfectly okay with being same.. MisHum, if I can write something up, do you think you could post my MoMee report up for me here at the blog tomorrow afternoon? Thanks in advance.

Hoping to do it all again next year, in a different location, although I also have to give a shout-out to Kelseys, who provided us with wonderful service, even after they found out we're eeeeevil deplorables. :-)

80 The Saturday Night Joke

ALong those lines ...

Back in the 1970s surgeons from America, Britain and the Soviet Union are talking about the hardest operation to perform. The British surgeon said that the heart transplant was the most difficult operation. THe AMerican surgeon said that removing brain tumors was the hardest. The Soviet doctor said that tonsillectomies are the hardest operations to perform in the USSR. "Tonsillectomies?" asked the British and AMerican docs.

"Yes," replied the Soviet surgeon, "because in the Soviet Union we have to take the tonsils out through the rectum."

"Why would you take the tonsils out through the rectum?"

"Because, in the Soviet Union, nobody opens their mouth."

86 The pontoon boat is cool, but I can see room for improvement.

1. He went to a lot of trouble to split 4 pipe tees, and then rivet on hose clamps to make the hinges for the float outriggers. It would have been much easier to simply put short stubs of pipe in the framework tees on either side of each hinge, and leave the hinge tees uncemented. You could run a long piece of Red-rod through each side of the frame to keep it from separating at the hinge tees.

2. Instead of making the floats cylindrical, make them sort of teardrop-shaped, with a vee bottom, and a rounded top. Less drag when motoring, and as you step on the float, the buoyancy increases rapidly as the float settles in the water. Should make for better stability.

Dorn played a heroic conservative in TNG / DS9. Worf even got into a fight with O'Brien about unions (O'Brien, Irish teague as he was, was for 'em; Worf agin'em). I don't know Dorn's real politics but he was happy to allow that Right politics exist. Possible Dorn voted Obama 08, nobody 12, and Trump 16 . . .

Levar Burton, I'd figured for a full-on Lefty, because Burton has actually written a Left book: Aftermath. Featuring a Leftist Black President who gets assassinated. This was 1997 when the prospect of a hard-Left Democratic Black President was still science-fiction.

So I am pleasantly surprised that Burton, certainly a full-on Obama Bro, is tolerant to the rest of us.

I knew I had reasons to be fans of this cast. Excepting Marina Sirtis who needs to fuck off with Wil Wheaton, who also must fuck off.

Frequently, one will claim my entire front yard for itself, attacking any other hummingbird that dares stick the tip of its beak into the area. Several times, I've seen one stake its claim for hours at a time. And sometimes, its claim extends to my next door neighbor's feeder. They're fun to watch.

He says the song was traditional, yes, but he came up with a new chord progression which is the song we know today.

Dylan asked him if he minded if he, Dylan, covered it on his album, van Ronck said fine and Dylan said good because it's already been cut and it's on the album.

Then when van Ronck played his own song people asked him why he was covering Dylan and he stopped playing it. Then when the Animals did theirs people asked Dylan why he was covering the Animals song and he had to quit it.

They certainly did evolve from *poor folk clothes* to acceptable everyday wear for everyone. I remember when they weren't permitted to be worn to school by the boys, they had to wear "dress" pants. We girls didn't have to worry about that. Girls were not allowed to wear pants to school.

I'd always read that they stay pretty close to water, and I'm at least a mile from the Missouri. But as soon as the daughter hung out the feeder, there was a hummingbird, so, of course, I had to get a feeder, too.

Traditionally, my neighbor and I put out our feeders about the middle of August, thinking we were attracting females and juveniles heading south for the winter. (No one in the neighborhood has ever seen a male at any of the feeders.) Just for the heck of it, this year I hung mine up early in June. Instant hummingbird.

Right now, me, my neighbor, her neighbor, and the guy across the street all have feeders. We have fun comparing notes on who saw what when.

The ranchers in out state Nebraska have fits every time one goes through their land. Between the reintroduced wolves and the wandering cougars, they firmly believe their cattle herds will be decimated. Left up to them, every wolf and cougar between the Atlantic and Pacific would be killed. At least the bears tend to stay within the confines of Yellowstone.

Not right now. I live in NoVA and this area has plenty of jobs for my skill set. It's just a matter of time. When you are dealing with security clearances, that's just another layer of bureaucracy to deal with. It will happen soon. Meanwhile, I will stay at my current job with the new company even though its going to be a very rough place to work. Too much experience has walked or are going to walk and the new company just has no idea what it is in for. The secret squirrels will be of no help and are in denial. A toxic place to work at the moment. The secret squirrel are a mess. Like I said, just some patience and persistence and I'll be on to the next job. I'm not worried about not getting one, I will. It's what I'll have to deal with on my current job until I leave for good. Bah Humbug.

My last spread was 480 acres NW Nebraska.

Lost cattle, calves, dogs, cats, chickens. Mostly the little stuff went to coyotes.

Many, many cases of big cat tracks out back. Spooky animals. Semi juvenile mountain lions killed in the area.

One night out checking upset cattle, was clearly stalked by 'something' just outside my light cone. Low snarling and moving in the brush. Moved when I moved, stopped when I stopped. Dead meat smell. Not coyote behavior at all. Ruger .44 drawn and cocked, pivot to the sound, head on a swivel.

I am quite convinced that if I had got messed up and presented my back it would have pounced.

Displaced young mountain lions are a real, tangible, worsening threat. City folks that think otherwise need to come visit.

Update your will.

There are near constant rumors here about Florida cougars/panthers wandering up here, with someone periodically claiming to have seen one. It's never been confirmed, and I'm very skeptical, although there was one confirmed sighting in 2007 in Tennessee.

Sadly the Florida cougar/panther population is quite small...maybe 200 or so.

They're supple, they undulate, they channel their desire through purrs and growls. Then you enter the cougar and it's all Jell-O pudding. They collapse in paroxysms of joy.

What is this Memorial Day 2009 thread? I think it's been mentioned a few times, always in terms of extreme awe. Is it still in the archive? Some time, when I am trapped at dialysis with nothing to do, I must find it and read it.

434 So, I made a most fortuitous discovery today. Got a new shop vac, and resumed vacuuming the broken glass out of the poor old wretched Panhard that got its rear window busted, presumably by a rock slung by the lawnmower. Vacuumed glass up off the ground, out of the channel in the rubber, out of the package tray, and then opened a rear door to vacuum the seat and floor. There was "stuff" on the seat. All I had really noticed before was the upholstered panels off the two front doors. They were on top. Underneath, wrapped in old fuzzy car seat covers, was not one, but TWO rear window glasses, in perfect condition. I damned near shit myself. They are all but impossible to find in North America. I was told: "if you want one, you need to buy the parts car with it."

Woo-hoo!

Looks like this:

Howard Johnson's Restaurants used to be famed in part, for their Orange Naugahyde upholstered booths.

But when the Orange Nauga went extinct, there was no more supply for such, and HoJo went out of business.

And from PETA, not a word.

They were already Orange Nauga Bad, even then.

Great pic, but I'm not sure what I think of this thing. It might be a great product. It might also be half a C-17 capability at a C-17 price, if we were capable of building more C-17s which would take a whole lot of orders to get Boeing to do (since we've shrunken our vendor base so far that we have to beg them...)

Panhard et Levassor was one of the world's oldest car manufacturers. 1880-something?

The predecessor to my PL17, was the similar-looking Dyna Panhard, made almost entirely from aluminum. They cheapened them up, and made the body from steel, and hence the PL17.

Two cylinder air-cooled engine, hemi heads, torsion bar valve springs, and all ball and roller bearings on the crankshaft. RPM red line is 7000 RPM.

The concert was in, iirc, 1999 at the Gulfport MS Grand Casino, about 6 months before the lead singer, Dave Peverett, died from cancer.

Soon after that concert, they built a separate building to house their concerts and disturb the neighbors. But yeah, SRO back then.

THAT inspection, is a job for a qualified gunsmith.

No, your Mk. 1 eyeball ain't good enough to detect an out-of-spec barrel bulge, even after the squib round is forced out of the barrel by whatever force you choose.

Rugers are hella strong. But no gun is INFINTELY strong.

Get it inspected by a QUALIFIED gun smith before you shoot it again.

1973.

J. Geiles Band there, too, and Ten Years After... and four others, but that'll come to me, later.

$1.01. 'Cause KGB's FM frequency was 101 on the dial.

One did not need to bring hooch to the concert. Just simply breathe the ambient air, and the Contact High was achieved.

we've had a chance to use the pool at all this month (maybe one or two
days at the beginning of the month). And this is usually our hottest
month of the year.

All that talk of July being the hottest in history is BS from the lying asshole trying to push the AGW scam.

612 By my records 2016 was the hottest July since 2008 when I started keeping records.

that article on browder and the magnitsky act is an eye-opener. it exposes corruption in russia and helps illuminate the attempt to entrap the trump campaign by fusion. but above al it shows what a ruthless gangster putin is. chilling. and shocking if true.

recommended.

615 ... a bit hard to believe putin takes 50% from all the oligarchs, stashes the money in the west and is worth $200 billion, making him by far the richest man in the world.

Excellent find, excellent read, Booknlass.

Very informative summation and chronology of the crimes that necessitated the Magnitsky Act.
