Even The Most Well-Meaning Pundits Simply Don't Get Why We Have Trump

Daniel Pipes has a fine mind, and he often bucks the trends with regard to the Middle East. His knowledge of the Arab world and Islam makes him a worthwhile read.

But this time? I have no idea what the hell he is talking about, but he is far off the mark. My suspicion is that he has been immersed in the polite Right for too long, even though he disagrees with much of what they say about the dangers of militant Islam and Israel. But this is too much like a typical Acela pundit pontificating about OrangeManBad and accepting the reporting about the intense pressure that President Trump supposedly put on Netanyahu.
How Trump Put Netanyahu in an Untenable Position

For starters, the possibility exists that the congresswomen would have learned something during their travels to diminish their hostility to Israel.

This is idiotic. Where he got this idea, assuming it didn't come out of a fever dream or a hash pipe, is beyond me.

Second, excluding Omar and Tlaib hands them a shiny new grudge to deploy against the Jewish state: its intolerance of criticism. Now in addition to alleging Israel's oppression of the Palestinians, the congresswomen can publicize their own personal maltreatment by Netanyahu. Permitting Tlaib to visit her grandmother will not change that fact.

These two rancid Jew-hating bitches don't need any assistance from anyone to continue their vendetta against Israel and Jews. It is laughable that Pipes even considers the possibility that these two harridans base their vile rhetoric on facts.

There's more in the article, and it is equally illogical and incoherent. Israel has the obvious right to exclude those who wish to agitate against the existence of the state, and an equally defensible right to exclude those who wish to create the conditions for civil unrest.

This is a rare misstep, and Mr. Pipes can do better.

71 I don't know much about the protocols and traditions on these things, but it seems our representatives either go on a personal level (seeing mom was allowed) or they go representing the US (if they are making public appearances or pushing a political stance).

Just from the US (POTUS) stance, they should not be going to take political action against an ally (and worse than "against", they are in bed with the terrorists, more or less). The do no get to (ethically?, legally?) obstruct POTUS foreign policy, especially in undermining a key ally.

Just bought a copy of The Jerk on DVD. It's not even a personal favorite, I mean I like it well enough, but there are much funnier flicks out there. I just have a hunch movies like that will be wiped out pretty quickly. I also bought Back To School with the great one, Rodney Dangerfield.

Sure, sure, the old testament shows the ancients weren't that much better but time has gone by and Christianity and Judaism have changed and become much more humanity friendly. There have been large meetings where discussions have been held and those parts of the particular religion have been deemed to be anti Godly and been erased from continued usage.

But Islam does not change. This is primarily because Islam has no central authority. Oh they have groups that pronounce what's what and how to interpret certain passages and such but there have been NO large widespread attempts and modernizing and updating Islam. Probably out of fear but mostly out of hate and power.
