I think it was actually Typical Government Incompetence that allowed his suicide. The bureaucracy just does not give a shit.
As long as the paperwork is completed, they cannot be blamed.

There used to be a local grocery store chain that would bring in hatch Peppers and then have them roasted in the parking lot in a giant roaster. We always bought a 20 pound bag of roasted Hatches. It was a lot of fun and good eating.

What was weird about my grandfather is that he never talked like an Italian--either a native born or an Italian-American. no accent at all. No wild gesticulating , no bravado. He was quiet, and he didn't even look particularly Italian. He was actually proud when people thought he was German or something.
I found out after he died that he didn't even speak English until he was ten years old. It was always Italian in his father's house.

There's a little old Italian guy on YouTube who filmed his red sauce process. It was an all-day affair starting from the proper tomatoes, reduced over a fire pit, mash separated from the peels, etc.
In the video he talks about how this was what every Italian family did in the summer, even walking miles to get the right tomatoes. He laments that even in Italy, most people just buy canned tomato sauce.
What a waste.

The best I had was In Porto Fino in off season as I was at a German trade show so took a few weeks to eurail pass.
It was called Fruites De Mare and had every possible seafood in it and cooked in a brick oven. When it came we asked for Parmesan cheese. The waiter recoiled in horror. No really. After he composed himself he said "I will not tell the chef you said that." Mrs Jukin and I still laugh about that.

I don't recall his brothers or sister having any accent at all either. Their parents only spoke Sicilian...with a few words of broken English thrown in. ("Spaghetti stay...water go" was always a family favorite. He was trying to buy a colander and that's what he told the store clerk).
My dad's oldest brother married a girl of German descent. He didn't tell his parents for 3 years that they were married. That was a YUGE no-no.
