Trump Administration Releases New Rule That Makes It Easier for the Government to Reject Green Card Requests

It's based on whether you'll be a net drain on the country's resources, so obviously this is both irrational and racist.

The Trump administration on Monday released the final version of a controversial rule that dramatically increases the government's ability to reject green cards for people who are deemed likely to depend on government aid such as food stamps, housing assistance and Medicaid.

The new "public charge" rule would link a subject's immigration status to their income and their use of certain public programs.

Published in the Federal Register, the rule will officially be released Wednesday and go into effect 60 days later.

Ken Cuccinelli, the acting director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, announced the rule at a press briefing at the White House on Monday morning.

The administration has portrayed the rule as a way to promote sufficiency and independence among immigrants.

"We certainly expect people of any income to be able to stand on their own two feet," Cuccinelli said. "A poor person can prepare to be self-sufficient... so let's not look at that as the be all end all."

Self-sufficient? Standing on one's own two feet?!

All those words are missing is a white hood and a noose.

IIRC, this was something CLINTON signed into law, and Doltbama just ignored (add it to the list of Bammy's impeachable offenses).

What will the Left do now?

Posted by: Tom Servo at August 12, 2019 06:47 PM (Kpl3J)

33 These rules are the norm today in some places I travel to. Thailand wanted a letter of invitation from the company I was to work for, proof that I had lodging, proof that I could pay for medical care, and a paid round trip ticket that showed an intent to leave when I was done. Changes in plans were acceptable - but they wanted something in good faith.

So does Colombia, of all places, where I'm going this weekend to make some money for ten days. Legal money. I'm glad to have the opportunity.

It's not an imposition. I'm there at their leisure, making and spending money. And their rules are plain enough to learn ... several agencies like TraVISA make a living navigating you through this - for a fee that, again, is part of the cost of doing business.
This is not in the least bit unreasonable. It should be standard everywhere.

Ellis Island was a fairly effective system, and quite open. I don't remember all of the rules, but it was pretty straightforward. To enter, you had to:
- Have a few dollars in your pocket
- Know someone who is here who can help you
- Not be diseased
- Disclose your name and country of origin

That is a pretty minimal standard, and it was a way higher standard than we have now.

- The border is not open to known active gang members

Do you remember all the rules that were imposed "without due deliberation" (like the census questions) that were thrown out by the Courts because Trump didn't do them "the right way"??? (never mind that Obama could write a rule on the back of a napkin one night and it would be "Law" by the next morning)

Well, Doing it the Right Way means you have to Stand on one foot and hop between 25 different people in Washington and ask them all what they think, and then you have to put it in writing, and fill out a TPS report on each one, and you know if you leave the Cover Sheet off the TPS report well then you just gotta start over from scratch.

So it looks like this rule change was done the way that John Roberts said it has to be done.

Our immigration policy was altered irrevocably by the '65 immigration overhaul.

Which made diminishment of the white majority official US policy.

Essentially the only people who can immigrate to the US are people from third world countries and the family members of previous third world immigrants.

If you live in a first world country you are essentially barred from immigrating to the US as less than 10 pct of slots go to anyone from a first world country.

I will accept *nearly* open borders with a small list of requirements:
- The border is not open to those with diseases
- The border is not open to those with
- The border is not open to known terrorists and those with known violent crime in their past
- The border is not open to known active gang members
- No government services are offered in any language other than English
- There are no government transfer payments to individuals or businesses

A fairly open border is fairly low risk if you don't have a welfare state and a government that kowtows to non-citizens.
Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at August 12, 2019 06:54 PM (I2dne)

One more requirement: before you can leave the US to return home you have to be run through the law enforcement databases to make sure there's no warrant out for your arrest.

Half of the Mexicans in California commit various crimes - most often, drunk driving, but up to and including murder - and then bugger off back across the border until things cool down.

No dice, Jose.

The LESS important thing is finding out who murdered the most famous inmate in the USA, in the custody of the Fed Govt.

US if fifth in the world at mean wealth at $404K average for an adult, but for the mean (middle) we are ranked 22 at $63K. Just as the mass influx of low-wage earners has put downward pressure on wage growth for unskilled labor position, an overabundance of Latino, Japanese, Scandinavian and Hungarian babes could flood the dating market, forcing domestic women to expect less out of American males, thus removing the need for men to cowtow to irrational feminists in order to obtain a meaningful relationship.

Several months passed. Then early this year Mr. Epstein called to ask if I'd be interested in writing his biography. He sounded almost plaintive. I sensed that what he really wanted was companionship. As his biographer, I'd have no choice but to spend hours listening to his saga. Already leery of any further ties to him, I was relieved I could say that I was already busy with another book.

In their defense (the Talking Heads), it's not like they'd actually know about these things.

Know what'd really be nice to have? A group of people who could find out things like that and then tell us what they found. That could even be a valuable public service if they were honest about what they told us. We might even be able to formulate government policy if we knew what was actually happening around us.

I wonder what we could call them?

________________

The Obama administration admitted that it paid billions of dollars worth of food stamps to illegal aliens every year. Hell, they f*cking boasted about it. The Obama administration even spent millions of our tax dollars paying to run Spanish-language radio and t.v. commercials in Mexico, telling Mexicans that they don't need to be U.S. citizens or legal residents to get U.S. food stamps!

And the U.S. Treasury admits that it pays illegal aliens billions of dollars worth of "tax credits" every year (which are thinly-disguised welfare payments), and illegal aliens also get billions of dollars worth of Medicare Part D prescription drug benefits every year, according to an article in the WaPo a few years ago.

And then there are the welfare payments that are made to "U.S. citizens" who are not actually citizens, but illegal aliens lying about being citizens, and/or using stolen id. We don't even know how many billions of dollars a year that kind of fraud is costing us, but we do know it's widespread.

Are you really saying that the Attorney General of the United State who overseas an organization with over 110,000 people, should watcher the care of every federal prisoner? What exactly does the head of the Bureau of Prisons do? How about the warden, the prison guard leadership in the jail?

Epstein was an extremely high profile prisoner. He was on suicide watch. None of this was secret.

There was either a massive series of fuckups at the jail or something criminal happened or both. I'm pretty sure Barr tells prison guards not to break the law, too.

318 Mr Peebles @ #1 nailed it. This [no public charge for immigrants] has been the norm, the rule, the law, forever. It was reiterated in recent laws.

If you marry a furriner or sponsor an immigrant, with the goal of getting, a green card, you have to sign a statement guaranteeing said person will not receive public assistance. Those signing this document may find it especially "invigorating and interesting, as they hear the latest "news" on the radio - say, a governor signing a law giving in-state tuition to illegals, and then, say, click on an article noting the latest deaths and maimings by illegals protected by "sanctuary" policies, and then on findings of a recent study estimating the % of illegals receiving public assistance.

No, the Attorney General does not give individual orders on prisoners anymore than his boss, Donald Trump, does. This is not unique to Barr or Trump. It never happens.

This is silly. Barr has already said that multiple procedures were broken. Was he supposed to sit there and make sure standard procedures were followed? If not what would you have suggested he do to make sure people did their jobs properly?

Don't be obtuse, please. This is a serious question.

379 Graham clearly has the voters of his state figured out. Not even afraid of going full retard on gun control, in an election cycle. Amazing.

Recall, there is *not* any actual widespread popular demand to "do something". Not even close. Thus is not even pandering - this is the mediocrity or worse of the GOP incumbents expressing itself. Even Crenshaw/TX.

The ongoing crime wave of mass illegal migration, which involves major cartel activity, gang activity, smuggling, human trafficking, almost certainly int'l terrorist infiltration, economic harm to low-end wage-earners, and a large and growing butcher's bill of murders, rapes, assaults, DUI homicides and mayhem, and other serious crime - *this* so consumes the congressional GOP that they provide no additional resources to deal with it in an approprations package that blows the doors off prior comparative "restraint".

And try to think of the last time a GOP type made a headline with a statement or an initiative related to this outrage - which was the largest single issue area making Trump the nominee, and even winning the general.

if it is serious, I already said, at the least assign an extra man to be there constantly ... or the SuperMax idea was brought up by more than Coulter I think. Many people knew. Of course Barr could intervene for special handling ... this is a central figure ... this is not a routine prisoner. Yes, I think he should have made some calls to assure they were up to the task.

You say "it never happens" that Trump or Barr intervene for special cases? ... well it does not normally work that way ... but hard to believe they NEVER get so involved. No he doesn't drive down and look around, he makes calls, designates authority for someone trusted to keep up on it ... especially after attempt number one. To just leave it to the normal corrupt bureaucracy and hope for the best is how we got into this whole mess.

388 Were Epstein's girls trafficked?

Well he did fly them on his private jet and sail them on his private yachts.

Dems are scared and cannot put this on Trump unless they start manufacturing evidence. See PDT does like the ladies and got all the tail he wanted because he's rich. All his tail was adult ass; sure young adult but adult nonetheless. PDT is a father of daughters. Epstein was a creep and creeps hang with other creeps; hence Bill Clinton.

They'll try and get that girlfriend of Epstein's as a consolation prize but as long as she stays in England she'll be okay.

395 After two years of filling out paperwork and paying the filing fees for each piece of paper we submitted, I was able to get my fiancee a visa into the states. Total cost getting her into the states was about $5,000. We had to prove she would not be a burden to the taxpayers and that I would be able to support her. It was mid-2006 when we arrived in the states.

Three years ago, and about $15,000 later, she took the oath of citizenship. We are still together and still very happy together.

Why did it cost so much and take so much time?

I am a caucasian, and neither of us speak spanish, maybe. Not really complaining, other than being out a lot of money, but I do wish EVERY immigrant had to go through what we did to come here.

his value is in putting away some very powerful scumbags. imo Epstein was not Al Capone, he was a tool for someone getting kompromat on powerful people. AND maybe involved in child trafficking, and ... would cut deals and give a lot of evidence. Maybe we still have the evidence and we did save money ... idk. To me, his value was his being able to put together pieces of perhaps a globalist syndicate. ... and be a witness to their blackmail of key people ...
