The Morning Report - 8/2/19

vetovito.jpg

Good morning, kids. The weekend is here so here we go. Big stories remain the aftermath of the Detroit debates, which we shall get to in a bit, as well as the President's continued shattering of myths about that party in the wake of his rejoinders to Elijah Cummings, which perhaps may include at least the first real rips in the race card, if not its actual shredding. I've come to the conclusion that this is not 11-dimensional chess on the part of Trump. That said, this is the man who wrote The Art of the Deal and he's a proven master at sizing up opponents' strengths and weaknesses in order to come out on top.

But above and beyond that, it's just his willingness to go to the mattresses to defend himself, his allies, his family and his principles that has exposed for all who have eyes to see and two brain cells to rub together the fraud of our political system and the true evil that is the Democrat-Media Complex. Again, Trump did not attack them; they brought this on themselves. So, without necessarily understanding or giving two shits about political philosophy, he understood what big government and cultural rot was doing to this nation, especially during the previous 8 to 25 years and so came down that escalator at Trump Tower to declare war. Had any other nominee won the primary, I don't think they stood a chance at beating the fraud factor and smear campaign that was hurled at Trump, and certainly the Deep State coup had Hillary been beaten. That's because none of them would've done what Trump did to defend himself. All future GOP candidates better understand this. If they don't, they're either stupid or complicit in following the old script as graceful pinatas/losers.

At least HUD Administrator Lynn Patton gets it. When she was ambushed by a propagandist hack on the NYC subway (and not a chauffeured car) on her way to work, she dismantled the fool by pointing out the rat-infested squalor of both a city day camp facility where dead rats were literally falling from the ceiling onto children, as well as the hypocrisy of Chiquita Khruschev crying at a border fence while her own district is crawling with vermin, quadruped and otherwise. Anyway, true to form, once Cummings-dumpster was ripped for his pathetic record, the race card was shown and the words of the Democrat E-Pleb-Neesta invoked: Thou shalt not criticize any Black Democrats as that is racist. There must be some sort of Gore-effect happening because IIRC an NBC news crew was in Baltimore to defend Cummings but unfortunately during a live shot where they tried to create a Potemkin Village mise-en-scene, a rat scurried out of a trash heap just behind the talking dummy. Adding insult to injury, it appears Cummings' own home was burglarized as he was boasting about Baltimore's crime record, or something. I don't know what the hell he's boasting about if you read the links in the Crime and Domestic sections.

The salient point is, that by fighting back, you force the Democrat-Left-Media to defend its own record that, just on the face of it is completely indefensible. They have spent decades promoting policies that literally have laid waste to entire communities and the people in them, and with the aid of the media and a gutless/complicit GOP have looted the American taxpayer into forking over trillions of dollars more to "fix" the problem that they created and blame us for. Lather, rinse, repeat. And not unrelated, the Senate has passed a bipartisan (FEH!) abomination of a budget that adds to the debt and deficits and nixes the budget ceiling. I get the short-term political maneuvering of putting the idiotic "government shutdown" kabu-kakkae theater past the 2020 election. But it would've been quite refreshing if we had just one lousy alleged conservative senator to stand up and pull a page out of the bill related to welfare, food stamps, section 8 housing, education etc. Specifically monies that were heading to Elijah Cummings' district while at the same time asking what the hell happened to all the billions of dollars that were directed there over the course of his career in Congress that have done nothing to improve anything. With the possible exception of Cummings' own financial health.

And then you extrapolate that to every blue state, county and district that is up to their eyeballs in crime, vermin, filth, disease and squalor and indict every goddam Democrat Leftist for these multi-generational atrocities, underscoring it all by their desire to give free healthcare to illegal aliens. Grand slam/slam dunk opportunity right down the shitter. Meh, it's the GOPe. If the President is lurking, here's another idea along with holding rallies in California and indeed, just around the corner in Baltimore. Veto the budget and read some pages from it in a national address.

Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

NOTE: The opinions expressed in some links may or may not reflect my own. I include them because of their relevance to the discussion of a particular issue.

This seems significant, no? The Left/Dems have always been able to define the argument thanks to the MSM, academia, popular culture assisting them. Whatever the conservative/common sense take is, it is ignored, not acknowledged. Yet Trump is forcing them to discuss what he wants to discuss.

Also noticed something funny on Lefty twitter: they were begging the moderators to ask about abortion. They've always had their slam-dunk social issues like that to fill up space while avoiding tough questions/issues and to highlight how unhip/uncaring Republicans are.

When they retort "Republican talking point" it means they cannot defend their own positions, even by lying about them.

The Media know that abortion, like gun control, is political death to the Dems. They are preventing or trying to prevent them from shooting themselves in the face on national TV.

Alas, that is a tall order given everything we saw these past few nights and the past few years.

Well they ARE shitholes, the fact that they are shitholes is why so many of them are trying to come here, and hiding from the obvious fact is making things worse and not helping anyone. Same things goes for Baltimore, Chicago, Philadelphia, whatever. Just like "you can't criticize black politicians!" Well name ONE city run by black politicians that isn't a total shithole, full of corruption and misery. You don't cure a disease by pretending it doesn't exist, but that's the path that the mainstream of society has chosen for quite a while now. Because the disease might feel insulted if you say anything about it.

Honestly, I am amazed at how casually men are mocked and slandered.

The other thing no one seems to acknowledge: because women are killing their babies. Men have been totally exiled from the conversation on abortion, but your "choice" involved purging *their* offspring, with glee and lectures on why the child is more like cancer than a gift.

I have watched the Democrats use abortion to destroy GOP candidates for decades - and finally, it's a liability. They have always inserted abortion into the discussion to separate a Republican from his/her moderate supporters: look at that creep who wants to control women's bodies!

I once agreed with this, actually up until very recently, but no longer. The exposure of the utter corruption and betrayal of the American people means they can regain power but will have to manufacture consent for anything they ever do again. The repression will have to increase, and the consequences for it will follow suit. It's a very bleak future but less so than when things could be done to us without reaction.

exactly - to think she could actually run a successful campaign is lunacy. Can you think of a single time she was ever in public without sneering at everyone out there? Her only campaign speech is "I HATES WHITEY!!!!" She's arguably the most vicious, toxic personality on the left today, and she's "entitled" to it and can never be criticized for it because she's what passes for royalty on the left.

Why Moochelle can never run - she is a stupid, fat, ugly, malicious, repugnant black cow whose entire life has been based on grift and race entitlement, and who has never in her life accomplished one single worthwhile thing through her own effort. In a just world, she'd be pushing a shopping cart down on MLK blvd screaming at passers by to toss her some loose change. She makes Louie Farrakhan look industrious and well reasoned by comparison. That's what Society says it is oh so horrible to say, but it is the absolute truth.

and mikey moore wants her to be President. HA!

200 @166:

You are totally right about the populace, but let's say it is only a quarter who are informed (I'll concede that even could be high). Most of those people, the fourth, are center/right and formerly believed the State was benevolent and loving. That segment of the population has been, if not outright radicalized, soured on the federal government. It's going to be tough to act with impunity without outright repression. When you get down to it, the Never Trump/cuck crowd's purpose was to keep that segment in line and they did a good job until Trump turned over the tables.

In time, even with a fourth under siege, it can't and won't hold. But, yes, the future is bleak. That hasn't changed. But the speed bump Trump is represents a very significant impediment to where this was going.

217 The 60s was really the first wave of seditious infiltration of culture. It was indeed mostly the Soviet plan in action, and the lost the cold war but succeeded in the march through institutions. But also in the 60s there were real pollution issues, real civil rights issues, (and maybe that Vietnam domino theory was not all wrong).

But leftists took over those half worthy groups after Mission Accomplished. Equal Rights is now special privilege, breaking of family continues, live and let live is White Christians must die, and Dem candidates are running as commies. (real commies raised Obama/Jarrett, influenced others)

Two other big changes ... the fiat currency now headed toward infinite debt, paid off with infinite fake currency ... and the info age where BigBroTech really can monitor every citizen and issue a social credit score, which only they can see.

All this is exposed, the public reaction is slow to develop, but it is becoming TruWoke. Change happens much faster, and sovereign peoples globally are going to the streets led by an awareness of globalist hate for us, (as opposed to the 60s Soviet infiltration).

interesting times ... stay thirsty my friends.

226 The only reason I don't mind modern architecture so much is that the next generation or so won't mind tearing all of it down and replacing it all with something that looks better. We've bot a horrible 1950's courthouse in my city that replaced a beautiful 1909 Courthouse. Nobody wants to do any more retrofitting on it, just hoping for the day it can finally be torn down and all the pictures of it burned.

Perfect word: Myopic.

Anecdotally, most of the "Progressives" I know are just as pissed at the Democrats and the Leftist Media Machine as we are of the GOPe and the Quisling Brigades. They have an ideology of their own. It's not the same as mine, but it's theirs. And very few politicians or media outlets on the "left" represent them. Basically what you could call a mid-century Kennedy Democrat kind of worldview: Not Austrian School or Supply-sider by any means, open to a "live-and-let-live" social policy, but also not down with Collectivism or the Looney Toons 57 genders and Race-is-a-monolith kind of thinking, either. They're sick of the manufactured Doom and Gloom coming from the people who are supposed to represent them. They miss the "Hope" (however malign and insincere) of the Obama Era. Sure, on the surface, they Blame Trump For Dividing Us... but scratch the surface and they're really pissed at their so-called Leaders, too.

Interesting times.

resisted arrest and b) not been a criminal in the first place. But,
that's racist.
Eric Garner was arrested for selling loose cigarettes by a plainclothes cop dressed like he was heading to a Limp Bizkit show. He was choked out for selling smokes without tax stamps. Yes, it was criminal. But not a law enforcement outcome conservatives should cheer.

Taking todays Progressive viewpoints and applying that (fake) standard to the last generation or to something even 50 years is mental masturabation with a fistfull of sand. Reliving the past (regretting your past) is one of the ways that Satan takes over your life. Reliving old mistakes, sins, and errors is no different than blaming the child for the sins of the father or grandfather.

IT DOES ZERO FOR FIXES TODAYS PROBLEMS.

Groups are necessary for power, but groups are made of individuals. "Moral man, immoral society." We had several GOPe leave after Trump was elected (thanks fluckers like Ryan, for walking out in the midterms). Maybe that is part of the purge when individuals do the right thing against the institutional party.

But TheGroup is still necessary, it needs to be taken back one seat at a time. TheParty is not a sentient unified thang, it is an amalgamated borg that tends toward corruption. A republic if you can keep it, requires the citizenry confront their representatives one by one.

Democrats are doing that in part ... Pelosi can't stop it ... but they are going FullCrazy. 312 I'll give you argument, response and potential outcomes on our decaying cities. I'll use my best Epictetus voice, because this will come down to virtue.

Republicans will, rightly point out that Democrats have neglected their districts.

Democrats will initially choke on their dicks and get air cover from their media division. Then they will start to turn the argument and say it's about money. That Republicans have not allocated enough. They will tee up a multi billion dollar "urban renewal" boondoggle bill in Congress.

Republicans will be too weak and lazy to do the hard work of pointing out the huge amount of money that these cities already get, rampant corruption, overpaid government employees with pension deals that are bankrupting them, failing schools due to teachers unions, etc.

Ergo, because they are too feckless to make the right arguments, a bunch of Republicans in the House will vote to give their destructive city machine more money. Their reasoning will be "how can I say these places are shitholes and not vote for urban renewal?"

The Deep State attack against the candidate would succeed, because unlike Trump, these politicians are all guilty of something that could ruin them if it were brought to light.

There's part of the equation that you may be forgetting:

The voters.

The voters are going to decide the next nominee (just like they decided with Trump). If the Republican electorate sees Trump as successful, the next nominee will be someone who reminds Republicans of Trump. I think combativeness will be key to that appeal.

378 A thousand lawyers at the bottom of the sea .. a good start

FTC asks that the 147M people affected by the Equifax breach take free credit monitoring as only $31M of the $575M+ Equifax settlement is allocated to consumers

As part of the original [Equifax] settlement, the FTC stated that consumers would be able to net either a $125 cash payout or ten years of free credit reporting. Users were told they'd also be able to recoup up to $20,000 in compensation if they were able to prove that the leaked data (which included social security numbers) was used to steal their identity.

A new FTC statement and blog post proclaim that because of "overwhelming" and "unexpected" public interest in the offer, users may not get the $125 they were originally promised. The agency is now strongly urging users to take the free credit monitoring instead.

In short, the $125 originally promised by the agency could wind up being as little as $5, if you wind up getting anything at all.

Almost funny as the producers of "Chernobyl" thinking they were making an anti-Trump statement but it turned out to be a critique of socialism.

Posted by: Victor Tango Kilo at August 02, 2019 09:46 AM (O7MnT)

394 I think one key thing to understand in the fight against the left is that their ideology is killing the host, and that's making them dumb.

The reporeater in Ratimore, was in the process of saying that Trump should come to Ratimore himself and see if it's rat-infested, and then the rat scurries out. (Anecdotal in itself).

But this is the dumb part. They had already doubled-down on the idea that there was nothing but racism behind Trump's criticism--and to that extent, he made it up.

He made it up, so he couldn't be right--so Ratimore is not rat-infested, and you can totally stand in Ratimore and challege the president to come see the rats for himself, because you've already decided that you're not going to see any rats.

If you thought you were going to see rats and wanted to deliver this message, you wouldn't be shooting in a trash-strewn empty lot. You would have whatever skyline Ratimore has behind you.

The thing I have observed is that their ideology-forced stupidity is such that even if they were to read this "warning", they *could* not adjust to the reality. IF they had just run Biden, their most popular "centrist" candidate, and let him stay in the center, to "recapture the center", they might have taken 2020 away from Trump, with the media dumping on him enough.

And as a lot of people said all they had to do is not be crazy. And they couldn't. In fact, in trying to push Biden out of the way, they are forcing him further to the left than was his perception.

I feel pretty sure in saying that we can say this all day that the left's ideology has made them predictable and stupid, and there is nothing they can do. Their ideology is a form of rigor mortis. First of all as a person who can be "fooled" by the right, there is no way I could be right about this.

Long chains of chained interpretations are no way to reason. But, the reactors on the left repeatedly make one interpretation they have made in the past serve as if it were a rock solid basis for a further assumption.

I also think this is why they also can't give Russia up. Because somewhere in the ladder of assumptions there are rungs of 2016 Russian conspiracy. And they've been allowing themselves to make assumption based on assumption, with the memory of the formder Director of the CIA outright calling Trump a Russian dupe and traitor.

400 Actually there are structures in places like New Mexico and Arizona that we're built in the early 1500's that are not huts. I believe the earliest structures (houses actually) that are still standing in places like MA, NY, VA, CT and NJ are early 1600's.

Don't forget the English didn't really start to settle North America until 1607. But they were late to the game. The French, Dutch, etc we're here in the 1500's and had done much of the original exploring and map making. Actually the area where I live was founded by the Dutch and there are still structures they built in the 1600's standing.

402 While I was catching up on the Chris Plante show through podcasts, Plante made an interesting point about how the Russians (Soviets) really interfered in elections in the 50s and 60s.

It was mainly agitprop from the Kremlin that spread the rumor to colleagues and news repeaters that Barry Goldwater was a racist.

Plante's excellent point is that the Democrats have adopted Soviet interference in our elections, given their role in it, as a general strategy of discussing politics. Everything they know about smearing the right, they learned by their complicity in Russian meddling in our elections.

Posted by: Willow at August 02, 2019 10:10 AM (UqDxU)

406 Eric Garner was killed by Nanny State politics. And, the fantasy of the left that government isn't somewhat at base frozen force that the classical liberals would have understood as a central assumption.

He resisted arrest and the police used wholly legal holds to restrain him. He put himself in a tussle that his health could not survive.

If the tragedy is that nobody should die over "selling loosie cigarettes" then you've receded to the equation distortions that the left is fond of. Garner played a role in this. However, there is either an argument that the city shouldn't have such ordinances (against Nanny State), or that the cops should not treat Nanny State laws as other laws--thus, actually making the argument that the government's enforcement is questionable, thus making the Nanny State law questionable (Government IS force.)

But we need to fix the parameters of individual choices precisely and not simply blur the lines of personal responsibility as it is the tradition of liberals to do.

You can make the argument of shared burdens--which I believe is the differential point in liberal politics--without the nihilism that the tradition of liberals has gotten to. It has come to be my opinion that this sloppiness in responsibility accounting, has spurred their delusion that tax cuts are "spending" for the government. Just like burdens are all amorphous and "shared", all the money in the US is "shared", and if they let you keep too much of it, that's just "robbing the disadvantaged" of their "fair share".

And I'm firmly convinced it comes from a preference for blurring the lines rather than sharply--but charitably--understanding the burden of personal responsibility and the opportunity costs of decisions. He didn't receive a "death sentence for selling loosies".

That is analytically wrong.

But that is a choice the citizens of that community made. It is an allocation of police power agreed to by the community.

Now, it is easy to accept that a community as liberal as NYC has lost connection with what choices they are actually making--because the last thing the Dems actually want is an informed public. But none the less, a representative legislative process is not that everybody is free to govern themselves, but that some people will be governed by the community standards.

This is the Lockean model. The governed participate in their governing.

Again, I would stress that one of the key mistakes is to venture too far into pollyanna-ism where you can't realize the stakes of punitive law.

Unfortunately, you can't teach a #Resister the value of States Rights (that's racist!) by asking them to reflect on how much they don't want to be governed by Trump. It's actually what states like California want. But they've put it behind the glass of Racist Things.

Instead, they are forced into a condition that they will demand a certain sovereignty for states, but not so that gets in the way of their nationalistic reassertion of the progressive will, should they win the federal government back.
