Atlas Foundry. It was an accident. I was driving right by it on I-5, when it blew. Fortunately it was in the valley, and there is a largish hill between us, so no line of sight. It shook the car and I could feel the heat radiating from the fireball. The commercial truck axle was thrown up onto the elevated overpass, even higher than the portion of I-5 I was on.

I never read that book. I read his column regularly back then and it seemed that all he was doing was compiling a bunch of his articles and adding footnotes. I'm told that he padded it with a lot of repetition and dumb pop-culture references.
Reviews on his latest book are similar. He goes extended riffs on The Simpsons - which was hip and edgy in 1992 or so - and then makes a tedious and belabored point that's already been made by smarter people who are also better writers.
And of course whenever one of his books come out, everyone in his circle of jerks has to run around talking about how great it is and there will be a ponderous review in his magazine claiming that their *honest opinion* is that it is a must-buy masterpiece.
But it's not. He's not very educated, holds a "chair" devoid of any lineage or scholarly prestige.

I found the columns he wrote before and during the project very repetitive and tedious. Yep, got it, aware of it, point made - and still he'd go on.
I'll also note that it made zero difference in the political debate.
Not a single liberal said "oh gosh, Woodrow Wilson was a racist, I need to vote Republican now!"
He got to claim he wrote a big-boy book and subsequently proved that he's a pretty lousy author.
But he does have a very expensive chair funded by someone who's all-in on the gay agenda, so he's got that going for him, which is nice.

But, in digital media, the tech companies will try to restrict you to your own core audience naturally, without regard to their deliberate efforts to keep you away from (D) and moderate voters.

the original.

I want to emphasize the part about having Facebook and Youtube pull the ads. If you want to build a case for bias and massive fines by the FTC, this is a wonderful example.
That's why you do this now, so that administrative action has time to hit them before the campaign heats up.
