I have a high-deductible plan, right now. I'm paying 300% more for it than for the lower deductible plan I had before BarkyCare, that was dissolved when BarkyCare came online to force me into shittier, more expensive plans every year.

And my high-deductible plan doesn't cover 100% after the deductible, on top of it. But I got a much narrower network to work with, so there's that ...

I've been twice, but only visited the US side so I really can't say which is better. Everything costs money (you are free, you have to pay for the car). New York even hits you up on a couple of tolls coming and going to the falls. Get out and walk around if you go, the raw power of the falling water is impressive and you can get pretty close to the water. I heard a month or so back that New York was going to turn off the American side again to do some bridge work. Don't know when that is supposed to happen.

I lived in Buffalo for 7 years ubtil about '85, worked for a time at a restaurant that was kittycorner to the US side park.

Yes, the Canadian side was better. Better view of the falls, and Niagara falls downtown was a poorly policed (as in the sense of cleaning up trash) ghost town. The Canadian side was very capitalist - garish but well lit and clean, and had all the best hotels and restaurants
(Aside from the place I worked, which was one of the best restaurants I ever worked in.)

Late to the thread but:

Better view of the Falls from the Canadian side. The Canadian side is like a big Ripley's Believe it or Not, and ugly as all heck.

Go to Niagara on the Lake for charm if you end up in Canada.

The American side you get MUCH closer to the Falls (there are actually phones and warning signs for possible jumpers). The park is fantastic, in addition to the bridal veil and the overlook, go to Goat Island and Three Sister's Island. You can wander down away from the Falls to the Devil's Hole and see all the whirlpools.

The teeny-tiny downtown of NF, NY is MUCH cleaner than it used to be, and right on top of the park. (The shopping is far away from the Falls, and where all the Canadians go to spend their loonies.)

Maid of the Mist no longer exists on the Canadian side (it is called something else now), just on the American side, and you want to do the Cave of Winds (also American side).
