Trump Administration Held Back on Dirty on Kavanaugh Accusers Out of Decorum, Per Mollie Hemingway's New Book
Well, Mollie Hemingway and Carrie Severino of the Judicial Crisis Network.
The book, Justice on Trial: The Kavanaugh Confirmation and the Future of the Supreme Court, is released tomorrow -- I guess 12:01 am for the Kindle? It's already a #1 bestseller on many Amazon lists, including the Kindle nonfiction list.At the height of the furor over Christine Blasey Ford’s accusations against Brett Kavanaugh, the media were filled with speculation that the Supreme Court nominee might withdraw from the nomination battle. But President Trump, and his top aides, wanted to fight back in the press and on the Hill, especially after Kavanaugh showed White House counsel Don McGahn his decades-old calendars showing he hadn’t attended a party where Ford alleged the assault had taken place.

The book describes a central conundrum for the judge and his advocates, which is that the team "understood that any criticism of Ford would be treated as a smear" and depicted as "victim shaming." Although some of those who knew Ford shared details about her behavior in high school and college that were "dramatically at odds with her presentation in the media," the book says, the Kavanaugh team decided to focus on his record and the damage to his reputation. The book touches on some of those alleged details involving Ford.
The authors had a lot of access to the players in this drama and I understand there's a ton of original reporting here. Not just opinion and think-piecing, but reporting. And one of these days I really need to dig into the ouvre of A.H. Lloyd. Someone on the site keeps telling me it's pretty good!

I'm sure there are reasons for getting a lawyer to do your LLC, but I just used the form in Texas.

I'm not sure there's much to do in terms of tax implications. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the Feds treat single member LLC's as sole proprietors.
So there aren't any tax options for single member LLC's. You use your EIN instead of SSN but the Feds are like yeah, we know it's you, and that's all income buddy. Plus self employment tax.

My theory on the "airports" comment:
I think Trump is a student of history and I also think that his mind tends to wander when he's giving speeches to things that are related to the speech.
In the case of the "airports" thing, I immediately wondered if he was mentally drawing a line from Rogers' Rangers to the 75th Ranger Regiment, which has "seize airports" as a mission.
Or, I could be completely off base with this theory.

I think it was even simpler than that - he said it in a part where he was also talking about "Ramparts" (over the ramparts we watched, etc) and I think he just misread the teleprompter on that one word.

A) "Ramparts" and "Airports" do look orthographically similar at first glance. Enough so that misreading is a distinct possibility, especially when reading text while not explicitly thinking about what you're saying while reading it.
B) Trump basically never reads off a teleprompter, for the most part. Sure, it's there, but really only in a ceremonial sense. That, or his official speech writers should all be sacked for having no idea how to end a sentence before starting on with the next one.

Now before you say "oh of course, the second one" remember that the 14th Amendment very clearly states that Illegal Aliens are to be used as part of the total population for reapportionment purposes. A conservative Justice *has* to rule that way, while a Liberal Justice is free to say "well, that's old language and we don't like that anymore, so let's just say it's a Living Constitution and go with what we want."
Kavanaugh has been calling balls and strikes as he sees them, without regard for the politics involved. That is *exactly* what a true Conservative Justice is supposed to do. What I have the most hope for is that eventually, he will be part of a majority that overturns the "Chevron" precedent, and that will dramatically trim the power of the Bureacracy. But that's going to take at least one more appointment, since Roberts will never stick his neck out that far unless he can make it a 6-3 vote.
