The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“We can’t be only upset with Trump… His policies are bad, but many of the people who came before him also had really bad policies. They just were more polished than he was.” Rep. Ilhan Omar, (D-MN)

Quote II

Luckily for Trump, it won’t happen. Good-Guy-To-Have-A-Beer-With Joe is long gone, like the wrinkles he had Botoxed away in preparation for this last disastrous White House run. Joe was the Democrat’s final chance to run a major candidate who likes America and likes Americans. Now one of the two major American political parties is all-in on hating the USA and hating you. Kurt Schlichter

Quote III

I find it strange when members act as though social media isn’t important,” “They set millions of [dollars] on [fire] to run TV ads so people can see their message.

“I haven’t dialed for dollars *once* this year,” “& have more time to do my actual job. Yet we’d rather campaign like it’s 2008 Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, (D-NY)

Quote IV

"I'm going to sit him on the front of the Downing Street steps and he's going to do some homework there because it its their responsibility to be looking after and educating our children for five days a week." Labour MP Jess Phillips

***

If you have a bone to pick with President Trump. Fine. But, if you don't respect the USA. Play soccer for Cuba or some other hellhole, Bitch.

The U.S. Women’s Soccer team defeated the Netherlands on Sunday 2-0 to become World Cup champions, only some of the team lack the heart of champions. As they mugged for the cameras, Rapinoe directed one of the players standing with her to ditch the flag so they could pose for cameras. The flag was not to become part of the photo.

It’s all about Rapinoe for Rapinoe.

"This is the ultimate “I Care About the Precious Earth” accessory.

You buy it once for two bucks and tote it around in your purse or pocket or ass so you can whip it out in other restaurants and others in your karass of demented yokels can marvel at your caring. Then y ou also buy, for one buck, that little straw reamer so you can shove it into the straw and whip out any evil germs that may otherwise grow crusty within.

Steve Wozniak, Co-Founder of Apple has some thoughts about Face Book and other social media platforms.

"I'm worried about everything," Wozniak replied. "I don't think we can stop it, though."
But, everything about you -- I mean, they can measure your heartbeat with lasers now, they can listen to you with a lot of devices. Who knows if my cellphone's listening right now. Alexa has already been in the news alot.

So, I worry, because you're having conversations that you think are private... You're saying words that really shouldn't be listened to, because you don't expect it. But there's almost no way to stop it. People think they have a level of privacy they don't. Why don't they give me a choice? Let me pay a certain amount, and you'll keep my data more secure and private then everybody else handing it to advertisers.

Wozniak was also asked if we should "get rid of Facebook and Instagram..." His reply?

"There are many different kinds of people, and some the benefits of Facebook are worth the loss of privacy. But to many like myself, my recommendation is -- to most people -- you should figure out a way to get off Facebook."

"Steve knows what he's talking about," explains TMZ's write-up of their conversation, adding that "the dude co-founded Apple, and he's very much plugged into Silicon Valley and all aspects of tech."

Oh No!!!! Noted prof using the S.W.A.G. methodology says there is a 50% chance that human race dies off in 760 years.

A book titled 'The Doomsday Calculation' is taking a new look at a mathematical approach to predicting virtually anything within a 50 percent likelihood, including when the human race will end.

Author William Poundstone has employed the Copernican method developed by Princeton University astrophysicist J. Richard Gott III to estimate a 50 percent chance that the human race will cease to exist within roughly 760 years.

The method is said to work to predict the likely length of existence of anything of an uncertain duration so long as it's being encountered at a random point in time.

The man who wagged his finger at us and told us he didn't have sex with that woman, wags his finger again. Why would anyone believe a word from him?

President Bill Clinton has released a statement on his ties to pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, claiming he “knows nothing” about the billionaire’s “terrible crimes.”
“President Clinton knows nothing about the terrible crimes Jeffrey Epstein pleaded guilty to in Florida some years ago, or those with which he has been recently charged in New York,” the statement reads.

“In 2002 and 2003, President Clinton took a total of four trips on Jeffrey Epstein’s airplane: one to Europe, one to Asia, and two to Africa, which included stops in connection with the work of the Clinton Foundation. Staff, supporters of the Foundation and his Secret Service detail traveled on every leg of every trip.”

Imagine if a Republican was this hypocritical?

On the evening of December 2nd, 2010, a handful of America’s media and entertainment elite—including TV anchors Katie Couric and George Stephanopoulos, comedienne Chelsea Handler, and director Woody Allen—convened around the dinner table of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. It wasn’t just any dining room, but part of a sprawling nine-story townhouse that once housed an entire preparatory school. And it wasn’t just any sex offender, but an enigmatic billionaire who had once flown the likes of former President Bill Clinton and former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak around the world on his own Boeing 727. Last spring, Epstein completed a 13-month sentence for soliciting prostitution from a minor in Palm Beach. Now he was hosting a party for his close friend, Britain’s Prince Andrew, fourth in line to the throne.

I might not like her music. But, I like her stand. Rapper Tiny Jag stands up to racism.

Rapper Tiny Jag pulled out of the AfroFuture music festival in Detroit in protest at their policy of charging white people double the price for tickets.
Until Sunday evening, the festival was actively charging white people double the price of minorities, a system they argued would guarantee marginalized groups were given “equitable chance at enjoying events in their own community.”

This system led the rapper Tiny Jag, who is mixed race and whose real name is Jillian Graham, to pull out the event, denouncing the ticketing structure as “non-progressive” and motivated by “spite.”

Thinking outside of the box. And a creative Genius Award Winner.

SOUTHINGTON-- One man is behind bars again after police connected him to a series of burglaries dating as far back as 2016.

The Southington Police Department's Special Investigations Unit arrested Joshua Moore of Shelton for a 2016 commercial burglary that occurred at the Dunkin Donuts at 1096 West Street.

Investigation into the commercial burglary revealed that the ATM machine located inside the business was the primary target of the burglary, and the suspect utilized a battery powered hydraulic spreader similar to what is used by firefighters during vehicle extrications (Jaws of Life) to gain access into the ATM machine.

36 Thanks for the ONT.

Speaking of disaster/apocalyptic things, I remember watching a program talking about gamma ray (or was it X-ray?) bursts from dying stars that could wipe out all life on the planet if the cosmic roulette wheel aligned. I would think that would be worse than a nuclear war, doomsday plague, Yosemite Caldera or giant asteroid.

At least with those you can see the mushroom cloud/explosion/ash and have time to think to yourself: 'Well, we are screwed.'

With the above, everyone just drops dead (although I assume the chances are infinitesimal considering there is no evidence of something like that happening.)

>>But, the accusations called him "defendant Trump" which

sounds like there was a trial. So following along with the story, that

would mean the girl broke her silence and Trump was tried in court. How

did this take place without anyone knowing about it?

Because the story was debunked in 2016 when the woman who is a drug user admitted that she made the whole thing up.

It was so obviously fake most of the media ignored the whole thing and this was during the 2016 election.

Dude, if any of that were true the Clintons (the first strike team on smears) would have released them (especially on someone who was 30+ years in the media/publicity limelight) way back in 2015-2016.
-
-
Here is my assessment. Donald Trump loves attention, and the attention from beautiful women. He gets a rush from that.
He loves complicated business deals. He gets a rush from that.
He is a skirt-chaser. Not abnormal for his class or his hard-charging type. And he was the non-drinker, non-drug user to go into the classiest, most famous NYC nightclubs.
And he saw these people, went to their parties. Was sober when none of them were; was careful when none of them were.
-
-So the SDNY, which is part of the DOJ, is supposed to be poised to take him down? The Donald Trump with a lot of material because...
-
he was the only sober person there for thirty years.

(Imagine what his memoirs could be - like a Tom Wolfe without the white suit.)

Man, that takes me back. Reminds me of programming welding robots. That was when I realized just how stupid machines are. The machine does not know if there's something in the way, so, the programmer, me, had to make sure the head moved before the piece turned and then, make sure the head was in the right position before it tried to weld.

If I didn't get things right, the robot tried to weld in empty space or the welding head crashed into the piece.

Added bonus: Initially, our machine shop wasn't very good at holding the tolerances the robot needed in order to work consistently. Which brought home just how adaptable a human welder is.

372 Here's the only winning play I see for the DSers in the Epstein affair. Force him to cooperate, but only on the political corruption angle of the original plea deal and investigate none of the pedophilia connections. Use that to ensnare any (R) prosecutors or FBI agents in SDFL connected to Acosta, and spend the next year and a half flooding the zone with one indictment after another, and all the attendant salacious leaking. Create a "corrupt Republicans enabling pedophiles" narrative ahead of the election. Hand down high-profile sentences in October.

That'd be my play if I were them. Still, it's "fraught" with danger. It's going to be very difficult to compartmentalize this and protect their own, here.

I believe all the child molesting stuff overall, although I think the Disney/Nickelodeon etc connection is going to be even worse than the political names, if it ever comes out.

And frankly bothers me more, because even though they keep calling it Pedo Island, I suspect most of the girls were at least teenagers, and most went willingly, even if they did not completely understand the extent of what they were getting in to, and many of them were also held captive, iirc. I am not trying to downplay it at all, just saying that there is a huge difference to me between a 16 year old thinking she's going to go make an easy couple of thousand bucks over the weekend giving "massages" and partying 24/7 at a swanky beach resort, and a 6 year old being passed around, which is what I think was a pretty regular occurrence at various Disney/Nickelodeon locations. There are some pretty horrific rumors about what happened to the little girl who was in... Close Encounters, maybe? To say nothing of the little boys.

Been having a lot of fun with the genealogy stuff myself. One line, if the data are correct, tracks back to John Cary, "the Plymouth Pilgrim". And I'm related to half of Pennsylvania on my maternal grandmother's side. A ways back on dad's side are a stack if french-canadien trappers who married indians in Quebec. And there are a surprising number of Mormons hanging off both sides. Some from the Mansfield/Tiltons, some from the Fairbanks/Bacon/Henry branches.

463 Watching the nightly replay of Tucker atm - saw something that let me know that Biden is truly, completely finished. (I thought so before, but now I know so) Moochelle was on some talk show, was asked a question about Biden's apology, and she just rolled her eyes and sneered "no comment. next question." Her contempt for Slow Joe was palpable.

And that was it. Biden's one big chance of uniting the Dems and winning was the idea that he was going to be a continuation of the Obama Presidency, that he was going to have Obama's blessing, and that maybe even Obama would campaign for him. Well that's over - the Obama's are cutting him loose with little more than a kick in the pants and "ha ha, we always hated you, you asshole!!!"
(bammy sure won't ever cross Moochelle on this)

the main pillar that his entire campaign was supposed to rest has now collapsed. What is he now except some bumbling old white guy who's day has long since passed?

We had 15 deer outside the shop one day, because the chuckle head that owns the shop was feeding them, and they come out from the woods. I'm not a hunter, not my thing, but I watched these bigger deer gorge themselves, and there were 3 little ones who they would NOT let near the food. Every time the 3 little deer tried to get in to get some food the big deer would go up on their hind legs and tried to pummel the little deer with their front legs. It was like 12 to 3. I watched this for a good 1/2 hour. I thought to myself had an AK47 dropped from the sky I would have mowed down the whole rotten fucking bunch. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. The little deer didn't have a chance, and I don't think they got anything to eat that day. Bambi? His mother is an asshole.

470 > More like the languages swam around with each other for a long time before they settled down and decided to formalize.

Yeah, there was a time (and not all that long ago, either) when you could travel across the Germanic language, Romance language, and Slavic language regions of Europe and each village would always be able to understand the people in the next village. Get about five villages away and people would start talking funny. Ten villages away and you couldn't understand them.
Standard languages as we know them didn't really take hold (other than with, say, the nobility or those rare people who had gone to university) until the rise of national school systems that enforced a standard dialect. TV and movies had a lot to do with it, too.

Even today the UK has some pretty bizarre accents, as do some of the more remote regions of the US.

We're talking some grade A sick motherfuckers.

He had a few out there conjectures, but the overall sense that one gets, its a LOT weirder out there than normal people have any idea. Dave was a self-professed Liberal. Duolingo, supplemented by several textbookskis.

I had a bit of Russian back in college, but at the time I was taking 24 units, and so was pretty much studying on the pot, and I'd forgotten all of it. People think the Cyrillic alphabet is an obstacle, but in reality, it's possible to learn that in an hour.

In fairness, I should be working on my German, which is rusty now, although back then I minored in German literature, but I lean toward learning more about something I know less about than something I know more about. Superficiality rather than depth is my motto. I can easily read scientific papers in German (also in French and Italian, because I had several years of Latin in high school, between which that and knowing the subject it's pretty easy to read a scientific paper in those languages).

People freak about the Cyrillic alphabet, but it's easy. Part of that in my case was from scientific training, but even so, it's easy.

The hard part is the inflection of the language. Different cases not just for nominative, genitive, dative, and accusative, much like Latin or German, but also including instrumental and locative cases. THAT'S much trickier for us.

Curious fact: the genitive case is pretty much vestigial in German, but central in Russian. I don't know why, but when in doubt, genitive case is the best guess in Russian.

Another peculiarity in Russian: the present case is fully declined. The other cases are trivial variants of the present case. More reason we should've nuked the Russkis when we had the excuse, perhaps.

Yeah, I don't understand it at all, and await the judgment of those who do, but to my uneducated eye the two languages are almost mirror images of each other in their use of the genitive case. Russian almost seems to default to genitive case, whereas German seems to eschew it whenever possible.

Eh...no. It's used all the time. I try to teach my students to recognize it but not necessarily to use it. I mean you've already had three previous cases and three genders and plural and definite and indefinite articles so you don't really need new rules, but you should know genitive when you see it.

I suspect he's right. English uses prepositions to indicate relationships, whereas German (and Russian) use cases.

But even so, how many native English speakers say, "He said that to him and I?"

How many English speakers can use "whom" appropriately? One in a thousand, maybe?

Pretty soon we'll be back to grunts and clicks.

That's interesting I also have some Huguenot background. Mine came from the Borderlands of Scotland when Mary Queen of Scots married the Dauphin a France. He died she left my folks stayed but then became huguenots and left at the revocation of the Edict of Nance.
They came to New Jersey where they hooked up with some Dutch from New Amsterdam who is left because the damn town is becoming too crowded and they went to the country. If only they kept that property they owned on Wall Street darn.
One of the Dutch was an interesting character he supposedly was the son of a Dutch sailor who had become a pirate working for the Sultan of Morocco. Unproven but in the early 1900s a descendant of the family still had a Koran that have been passed down.
And yes on another subject diverticulitis can be a real problem my wife has it. Others have mentioned it but you really have to watch what you eat good luck.

So to make them "environmentally conscious" they tweek what "off" means.

526 Eh...no. It's used all the time. I try to teach my students to recognize it but not necessarily to use it. I mean you've already had three previous cases and three genders and plural and definite and indefinite articles so you don't really need new rules, but you should know genitive when you see it.

Fair enough, but what I meant was not the ability to recognize genitive case, but rather that is is on its ways to becoming vestigial. See, e.g., the English objective case "whom."

Recognizing it is one thing. But there's not one in a thousand college graduates (apart from the Guevara spawn) who can use it correctly.

It's weird. I don't get the draw. Not my thing on the first place, but certainly not with FSA types at the place.

Now, for instance, I like national parks a lot. When I go there, it's much cheaper, and though the people who visit those attractions are very diverse, they're nearly uniformly high class. And it costs WAY less than an amusement park or stadium events, which is interesting in itself.

Same with cultural events like the performing arts. Way cheaper. They tend to draw a good number of blacks (though not Hispanics so much, oddly) and everybody is high-toned.

It's like the more money you spend, the more of a pit the place is.

Toured the shipyard in Nagasaki where Yamato's sister Musashi was built, also with extreme secrecy. They had photos of the enormous screens built to hide that one, too.

To get to a national park you need to do some planning and either own a reliable car or afford to fly and rent a car. Which basically means you need a) a couple of bucks and b) the ability to make a plan and execute it

Nerves and such, I'm sure you understand?

I pay attention to what you gentlemen say as to the linguistic arts. Sometimes, I learn a little, here or there.

Other times, I just shuddup, sit back in the corner, and TRY to keep up.

I will say this, though.

I was brought up in what I think was the last generation of Proper English, before the curse of "sight reading" and every ill that descended from it, befell American Education.

Sadly, I did get afflicted by the "New Math", which derailed my calculative abilities 'round about the 5th grade or so.

And it pains me to observe, that in comparison to subsequent educational generations, I'm in comparison, a genius.

Who pales in measure to y'all's being Feynman, who remains still my most awe-inspiring instructor, ever.

Even though he was long dead before I picked up the first thing of his I'd read.

Tough times ahead for our General Population, I fear. They all vote like hell for libraries, all while lacking the knowledge or skill to even begin to understand the decimal system by which the books are ordered on those very shelves.

Those aren't Private's Stripes.

They're "Airman" stripes. E-2.

USAF, 1550 Khaki Uniform.

I was issued those in 1976, and they were in the process of being discontinued even then.

So, they were utterly useless in my USAF Law Enforcement career field, which wore ONLY the newer Dark Blue trousers and Light Blue blouse.

I know that the USAF used the 1550s back into the Vietnam Era, but not too sure how much further back in time they were "issue" as such.

That "Airman" chevron is the tell, though. It's wings are UP swept, with a star in the middle.

Army Chevrons have DOWN swept wings.

Fortunately, the bear didn't give a damn as to the distinction, thereof.

That could work with the 1949, then.

The USAF was birthed by the Key West Agreement and came into being in 1949.

Deriving from the U.S. Army Air Corps. (USAAF), his rank could well have been "Private" at that time.

I seem to recall that the USAF had not yet fully established it's rank structure and related designations by then. They were still relying on USAAF nomenclature, if I recall.

Yeah, I thought Air Force was 1947 but I wasn't going to look it up. Dad was Korea era but never went there. He was an aerial photographer, furthest he got was Alaska (which was not yet a state).

Uncle was in Korea, the famous family story is "this is Lt. Durkin and I'll bring my own damn body down".

The military was really good at training photographers back then. I love photography and doing my own darkroom work and I've never been able to match what my Dad could do for technical proficiency. We've gotta compare allofthenotes.

I took two years of Occupational Photography in High School, and was the Teacher's Assistant, for the third (and my Senior year.)

Back in the '80s, I made a living (briefly) in the industry.

Had my own darkroom and all of the toys.

In all of my years, I nailed precisely ONE image that Ansel Adams would've looked at, and given an "A" as to Zone System perfection.

A simple, friggin' snapshot, from a Kodak Retina IV, plastic "box" camera. It was in no way related to the earlier German made, Retina I, II and various later "II" series cameras.

I had and learned on a Retina IIc (small "c").

To that Zone System photo.

When I pulled up the 4"x6" image from the soup, was in awe, even under the amber safelight.

After the fixer bath and rinse, the instructor even caught his breath at the range of DEEP black to PURE white on the print.

It caught the hues of my aunt's white and sliver hair, like nothing ever before.

And detail? Even under the print focus magnifier, it was down to the eyelash sharpness, and more.

Wasn't my best composition of all time. It was just a snapshot.

Dear Lord though, did it express the entire range of what B & W photography could DO!

574 Called ER re Mr. Empire. Waiting on X-ray results. Say they'll call back within the hour.

In the meantime, praying for the entire Horde. Think God understands our gratitude for each other.

575 Mrs. Empire.

You're embraced in the loving reach of all of our prayers.

And our Heavenly Father embraces us all, including your husband, even now.

Abide now in the Comfort of His Love.

And to the lesser degree that we are able, in ours now, too.

This is him with a flight crew, far left.

http://bit.ly/2S7QL1A

It looks like it must have been some stereoscopic apparatus.

That's not a B-17, but his favorite part was flying in 17s where his photography station was in the belly gunner's turret. Sometimes the pilots let him fly, not take off or landing but be behind the thing, the wheel, the stick.

He was not a very communicative guy but I think those were his favorite years.

That's not a B-17 as you disclaimed, but definitely a "C-something or other", and we're going to have to get Anna Puna on the case for the I.D.

I'm noting the rear half of a set of "clamshell" doors, the back half of which opens opposite the airstream. A most UN desirable arrangement.

Unless, that is, the front-half opens into the correct orientation, in which case you're looking at a C-46 (DC-3) kind of arrangement, wherein you can load a WWII Jeep, into the airplane.

*pulls alarm*

Let's see if Anna can pin down some greater detail?

So the CA sex ex curriculum seeks to...

"promote understanding of sexuality as a normal part of human development."

Who's to say what's "normal"? Why can they use the word "normal", as if there are norms to which we should adhere, when their whole schtick is throwing out norms when it comes to sexuality? If ~97% of people are straight and identify as their gender at birth (it pains me to use their convoluted language), isn't that the very definition of "normal"? By calling every deviant sexual proclivity "normal", they've stripped the word of any meaning, so why do they get to use it to promote their agenda?

640 Soros-Funded MoveOn.org Launches Petition Calling for Equal Pay for U.S. Womens World Cup Champions

Equal to whom? If women's soccer puts fannies in the seats that justified it, sure. If not, no.

Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at July 08, 2019 10:20 PM

The hilarious part is that now that people have looked into the details, it has been found that the women's soccer teams actually make more than the men's teams.

The Men's World Cup revenue was $6 billion.
The Women's World Cup revenue was $131 million.

The men are allotted a $400mil share of the revenue per team (7%).
The women are allotted a $30mil share of the revenue per team (23%).

So the men generate more than 45Xs more revenue than the women.
Yet, the women make more than 3Xs as much as the men, as a percentage of revenue generated.

I say, if they want "equal pay", the women should take a pay cut down to the 7% share the men take.

Makes progs boil over because it's RAYCISS!
