The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

Biden's my man, because who better to tamp down the enthusiasm of the maniacal farther-left of the Democrat party? He's a tedious old fool who is a boring speaker, has no signature cause or accomplishments, and panders to the last people in the news without being able to suggest concrete entitlement payouts because he is terrified of making a tactical error and alienating some other group. His only saving grace is that he comes off as the doddering uncle who brings candy for the kids (and then paws them and smells their hair: but that's a different issue).

Is he really going to energize the Antifa fascists to go vote and stuff ballot boxes and intimidate Republican voters? Are the insane Gaia-loving enviro-wackadoodles going to rush to the polls to vote early and often to support a 77-year-old career politician who looks like everything they hate?

However, a credible argument could be made for any one of the 93 people currently campaigning for the Democrat nomination...Warren is a shrewish, nagging middle school principal; Sanders is a crazy dude who wandered in off the street and smells faintly of vomit and patchouli; Harris is a nasty and hectoring backstabber who rifles through the overcoats in the den looking for wallets; and Buttigieg looks like a cartoon character who wandered in from another dimension. And the rest of them? Even weirder and dumber.

Any one of these people should be beatable by President Trump, in spite of their many advantages; first and foremost of which is the Media-Industrial-Complex being completely and totally in the bag for the Democrats. But that may not be such a bad thing; disseminating without a critical eye every idiotic comment from every corner of the leftist cesspit certainly won't endear the Democrat party to the American people.

Commenter Monty James made an important point this morning...

It's not 11d chess. It's just been so long since we've seen a Republican get in and mix it up with Democrats that we confuse it for some master plan; most of them don't like to get their bow ties mussed.
As much as I am sometimes frustrated by the President's insistence on getting the last word, simply not caving works wonders!

49 A good plan is not one that hinges on things going just so, but that results in a win for most probable scenarios. It is flexible and robust, allowing for the seizing of opportunities when available and doesn't collapse at setbacks.

Trump seizes opportunities, yes, but he acts with intention. These opportunities serve his larger goals. He does have objectives, all of which might be said to tie into the grand objective of MAGA. When it comes to these objectives he has various ideas on how they might be achieved and he pursues the path he views most likely to succeed, alternating as necessar.

From the beginning, I decided the only two candidates I could support were Trump and Carson, becuase they were NOT GOP, and I was -- and still am-- angry about Obamacare. I also think a business person is a potentially better politician than a career politician, who is only good at making speeches and getting elected.Carson is too nice, so I glommed onto Trump.

I am happy to see that I, and many others, are correct.

57 The maxim Trump follows is "L'audace, l'audace, toujours, l'audace!"

audacity - fast, open, obnoxious, surprising, it always disturbs everyone who thinks everything should be carefully measured and calculated first.

It also keeps everyone guessing and jumping, and having to react on the fly. And someone who likes to operate that way is always going to have an advantage over those that don't. Maybe he'll make mistakes - but for every mistake, he'll have a success, and he'll have 10 successes for every One that someone more careful would have had.

Posted by: Tami at July 16, 2019 11:08 AM (cF8AT)

A New York grand jury looked at the evidence and decided not to indict. Solid decision by Barr not to dredge all that up again after all these years.

(Of course charges COULD have been pursued, charges always COULD be pursued - so what?)

If I could make Trump do one small thing, it would be to turn his twitter/fight-back/tenacity on the term "racist". A concept long trashed, a word long rendered meaningless or inverted - but one that was important and worth recovering.

Obviously none of his "controversial" stuff has anything to do with "race", and much mileage and fun to be had in systematically debunking the slanders and especially hanging the newly revived meaningful/morally powerful term of "racism" around the necks that deserve it. This Rep. Pressley might as well have just screamed "all of y'all are no more than tribes and categories and grievance groups, you ain't people!!!" the other day.

128 I pointed out in the previous thread that both successful Democrat Presidential candidates in the last 40 years had to have assists from a unenthusiastic Republican base to win.

And that still wasn't enough by itself.

Clinton had to split the vote.
Obama was a historic first.

McCain was a garbage candidate but Obama only got 52.9%.
And McCain sure as hell wasn't polling 90% Republican approval.

Remember: Everything Trump has and will do between now and November 2020 is to 1) Drive Republican enthusiasm, 2) win over swing voters, and 3) divide the Democrats

The last three days have been textbook perfect in delivering on all three.

Getting the Democrats to hate him, to direct their hate at him only makes him stronger with the base.
Because we see: What they say about him, they are saying about us.

Find me a single Democrat who is careful to make the distinction.

PS: Those Obama voters who voted for Trump? They are also hearing what the Democrats are saying about them.

The president's comments were destructive, demeaning and
disunifying. The president has a unique and noble calling to unite the
American people--of all different races, colors and creeds or natural
origin. In that respect, the president failed badly.

People can disagree about politics, but to tell Americans to go back
to where they came from is unseemly and over the line. And it sends the
wrong message to our enemies that that we are disunited.

It all depends on the super delegates.

On the second ballot, they're allowed to vote as they wish. Do they then vote as a block for an agreed upon candidate (like Kamala), or do they split across several forcing a third ballot?

If that third ballot comes up, I predict chaos to ensue, which is the perfect place for someone like Hillary to frame herself as a unity candidate.

Yes, I routinely get headaches and a racing heart from anxiety. The thing that works for me is deep breathing. Yes, I know how that sounds but it works. Good advice.

Many of the adverse effects of anxiety attacks come from shallow, rapid breathing. It's actually over-oxygenization. The deep slow breathing, will actually help bring you back into balance.

>>i say it was an unnecessary move.

I think you are mistaking his goal. Nancy was trying to distance the rest of the Democrat caucus from the Squad and their comments. Her goal was to get the media to focus on her message and claim that the Squad was only speaking for themselves.

Trump wanted to make sure that the Squad's message was the Democrats message and he forced Nancy to defend the Squad and bring them back into the fold.

Trump wants to run on loving America, putting America and Americans first and against socialism, anti-semitism, Islamic terror and securing the borders and getting rid of illegals. That is much easier to do when the Squad is the face of the Democrat Party.

There are a lot of good, individual, conservative Mormons. The Leadership of the Mormon Church in Salt Lake City, which is who chose Romney to be their Senator, and is the only body that Romney actually answers to anymore, is committed to Open Borders, because they believe their Brown Brothers will flock to them and grow their church.

The president's comments were destructive, demeaning and disunifying. The president has a unique and noble calling to unite the American people--of all different races, colors and creeds or natural origin. In that respect, the president failed badly.
People can disagree about politics, but to tell Americans to go back to where they came from is unseemly and over the line. And it sends the wrong message to our enemies that that we are disunited.

He should have said nothing.

PS: Did you all forget that not too long ago there was a very popular country song about "America, love it or leave it?"
You know, very popular with the folks that swept Reagan to a 49 state landslide?
I'm sure they'll hang their heads in shame for such bad think and not vote at all, nope not at all. Calling them racist makes them stay home and hide.

292 I believe Biden is a weak, vulnerable candidate prone to mistakes and inconsistent in his positions. But I also believe it is a substantial mistake to underestimate him.

For Democrats, these races are not often about the candidate per se. They are contests Democrats play like a team sport. They turn on their machine and drive votes to the polls no matter who the candidate is. Add a significant amount of TDS, and things become a bit more energetic.

I suppose in the end the game never changes in the fact you have to amass enough votes to win. But to be frank, we're not very good at that. In fact,we had our asses handed to us because we were not prepared when Democrats moved onto new devices like vote harvesting and focusing on post election stealing of votes. So I have little faith in the Republican jalopy.

Trump may bring a lot of unknowns and firsts that make things hard to predict. I suppose in a sane world you could look at what he's done and stands for, as opposed to the other side, and believe this can't even be close. But the world is no longer sane and that people even lean towards what Democrats are peddling is frightening not just electorally, but to the future of our country.

In the end I believe very strongly that Trump will win. That right and good for the balance of our country will trample socialism, the Democrats loathing of America, their fondness for people who are not citizens, socialism, their shaming of success, a lack of family values, a fondness for killing the most vulnerable among us, big government, negative constitutional liberty and the destruction of individual rights. But if we treat this as something other than an existential battle, we will lose and lose big.

I think if they're writing off 2020, then it's an effort to wrest control of the Party from the other side.

The Activist Left seems to really want this win.

The Establishment seems a bit more muted on the matter.

I would be far from surprised if the Establishment was trying to give the race to the crazies in an effort to purge them from leadership within the party afterwards.

But the race is far too chaotic right now to think that's working. Obama left a power vacuum at the top of the party that was supposed to be filly by Hillary (fat joke implied). Since she failed miserably and Obama's making no effort to establish control, there is only chaos in its place.

But I think Justice Dems have it in mind to simply sacrifice a few election cycles in order to consolidate control of the Dem Party, and force it into outright Maoism, against the day when they simply win by default (which will eventually happen, probably right after Trump).

Then they will have no impediment to the Plan.

Posted by: kraken at July 16, 2019 11:58 AM (bCLt0)

The money for refugees is not being sent directly to churches, i.e. church treasuries. The churches set up an outside program under a 501 c to accept federal funds and contributions to their refugee resettlement program. They then work with the Fed govt to bring "refugees" into the USA, directly to their shelters, who then house them in contracted apartments. work with existing state govt to get them signed up for everything from food stamps, to utility vouchers to enrollment in school for children, daycare, etc. Until those things are in place( they can get these govt programs because the are considered REFUGEES, not illegals) the church pays for all their needs via the govt funds they are receiving into the 501.

There are locations in Columbus Ohio where virtually the entire residential population are Somalis. Some here remember the Somali 20 something who was attending Ohio State on the taxpayer dime who drove onto campus one day, jumped out of his car and started slashing people with a large knife. Fortunately, campus police officer shot him dead within a few minutes of the 911 call.

This Somali had come here with his mother and half a dozen siblings via a church refugee program, just a couple of years before. The entire family was in free apartment housing , with all needs being financial covered. The knifer had amazingly , earned a two year community college degree in the two years he had been in the country, and had been accepted to finish a 4 year degree at OSU. Seemed quite miraculous to me, but I guess schools in Somalia are way ahead of US HS, so this guy must have been very advanced, including in English to have arrived and earned a two year degree immediately. ( sarc).

Then I'll stick with my belief that such an action would be the most divisive thing any political party in the USA in this age can do. The smoke-filled room days of the conventions are over, it is the primary/caucus system that provides the nominee with legitimacy. After all of those months of campaigning and voting, volunteering time and donating money, and then a bunch of guys you probably never heard of swoop in at the big party and say - "Just kidding, the nominee is going to be (fill in name here) because we say so. audacity - fast, open, obnoxious, surprising, it always disturbs everyone who thinks everything should be carefully measured and calculated first.

It also keeps everyone guessing and jumping, and having to react on the fly. And someone who likes to operate that way is always going to have an advantage over those that don't. 515 101 The problem with most leftist celebrities as candidates ...

they don't want to give up their life of leisure (and lewdness) ...

they don't want to be controlled by DeepState ...

they don't want to risk the possible government or civil suit attacks on their great wealth ... (seeing attacks on Trump)

they don't want to run and be exposed as ignorant on most issues, snark from the sidelines is easier ....

Socrates was wrong: the unexamined life is damned well worth living, as far as they're concerned.

Imagine ANY celebrity getting Kavanaughed. Imagine the crap that would come out. And you KNOW Trump would go for the throat.

Steamed poppy seed bun, vienna style dog, mustard, neon relish, onions, tomato, sport peppers. If you use ketchup, they deport you to Green Bay.

Hillary already had the Wisconsin vote, and there wasn't enough money there to bypass opportunities in NY or CA to grift.
