11 Last time I checked, pornography was pictures of people fucking. Reminds me of a joke my dad told me.

A sailor comes back from overseas. The Customs officer asks him "Do you have any pornography?" He replies "No Sir! I don't even own a pornograph."

It makes a certain sort of perverse sense. Pornography is deviant, which is why it is restricted to adults, etc. If you extend the definition of "pornography" to "anything perverse" and if you have an aggressively left-wing stance, then anti-abortion materials *are* pornographic.

More likely, though, it is about tracking. I don't know if Pinterest makes you log in to view age-restricted material, but if they do then this is a twofer: get people who aren't members to register and add to their active user counts and then also put those people on a list...

It doesn't even have to be horrifying. Just stating a truth will draw censorship and punishment. Recall Ezra Levant (and many other, less publicized episodes) in Canada when he quoted others and then he was brought to "court" by a supra-governmental BS agency for, essentially, rehab and confessions of crime.

74 The problem here isn't even what it is that they're censoring; it's the tech giant culture that makes it acceptable for their employees to abuse their platforms for their own political ends - either individually, or via a leadership role directing others, without any regard whatsoever for laws and cultural norms pertaining to operating a service or published terms of service.

*This* is why these companies are so hardcore about "culture fit" as
part of the hiring process. It's a euphamism for "lefties only".

It's like going back a century and having telephone operators checking names and numbers against a political blacklist and disconnecting calls just to be dicks. And then, to drag the bake-the-cake aspect into this - because it's germane - defending your own faction against similar actions by having courts allow lawfare over it. But only one way. Whether the service is paid or not is irrelevant here, it's all the same issue - either everyone bakes the cake or no one does, and you can't have it both ways.

Does anyone doubt for a moment what would happen if a platform arbitrarily did this to lefties? Or allowed employees to do it at will?

Awesome. So real porno is unflagged and anti-abortion content is tagged. This leads me to believe that they don't hunt for pornographic content in order to flag it - it probably depends on nomination. If your systems go looking for it, it is fairly easy to find and apply the tag.

If I'm right, it's particularly disturbing because:
1) They have a "pornography" tag but they don't really care about it and are happy to have it out there for people who don't want to see it or shouldn't see it (like kids) to stumble across it anyway (probably because of depravity or click-mania or both)
2) They deliberately use it as a dumping ground for wrongthink.

It's a double-whammy!

It was beyond outrageous, totally illegal, disgusting and infuriating But I had to SELF-CENSOR ALL THOSE PHOTOS, even having blurred the faces on the children, because my ISP was contacted by leftist lawyers saying they will be charged with distributing child porn if they did not force me to take the pictures down.

So, down they came, and shall never be seen again. And the left once again gets away with outrageous crimes against humanist because they're too evil to even document.

And the perverts just laugh and laugh and jack off triumphantly in public as your kids watch, and there's nothing you can do about it.

Read Marcuse. He knew *from the 60s* that when the power switched, they'd have to button speech back up for the maintenance of their power.

In some quarters--in enough quarters--"free speech" was always in pursuit of what the communist-founded ACLU believed in: "Communism is the goal". And they planned to use the civil rights of America to turn it upside down on free-marketers.

I admire your optimism. They will not be stopped in a way that is conducive to their survival. The censors have to be destroyed. I think reform is impossible. But the censors have so much shareholder value locked up that I think that the only party with the ability to destroy them - sad as it is, that is the state - will not choose to do so.

No, I think instead that the state will - as it almost always does - make the wrong decision. They will instead make new standards about what level of censorship is acceptable and then everyone will ignore it except when it useful for the Left to destroy an enemy. I hope this doesn't happen, but it's my bet. Busting up the monopoly - which will probably help solve the problem without making a bunch of terrible new law - isn't going to happen.

The principle of modern progressivism is that eschewing objective reality and claiming absolute and arbitrary moral authority via your inherent goodness results in any other principles being unnecessary.

I'm a bit concerned over how few people understand this.

Ideologically, it's a really big damn paradigm shift. I suspect it was
brought about by marxism's mid-century realization that suddenly "the
workers" were part of the problem. It's really effective, with the primary downside being that any opponent that twigs to what you're doing eventually realizes you're going to have to be voted off the island.

Now, people who follow in Wilson's embarrassment for an "outdated" Constitution (wait--wasn't there a switch?), regularly toggle the gaslight between declaring things unholy by the Holy Writ of the Constitution (that aren't really) and "that old thing?!".

155 Ideologically, it's a really big damn paradigm shift. I suspect it was
brought about by marxism's mid-century realization that suddenly "the
workers" were part of the problem. It's really effective, with the primary downside being that any opponent that twigs to what you're doing eventually realizes you're going to have to be voted off the island.

In some ways it is useful news and analysis, and in others its batshit crazy, but the batshit stuff often does not overwhelm the news and analysis stuff, because the first two of those three ideas have merit. teh crazy is just sorta there in the background, and if you are unaware of it, it is actually easy to miss. The interesting part is how active the media is on this. Not just the random activist writers, but CNN making it a policy to dox and deplatform *competition* - independent and alternative (both libertarian and right-leaning) media.

They're not even shy about it, using their Vox, Buzzfeed, and tech magazine accounts and websites to demonize independent voices, alienate their financial support with "news stories" that involve calling an advertiser and telling them they are publishing a story about how your company approves of this message because you advertise or provide them a hosting/banking service.

Beyond deplatforming, they want to ruin livelihoods, ruin lives and relationships.

191 >>>What about cholesterol?

I'm very pro-cholesterol. You may be joking, but I'm not. Dietary cholesterol has always been good for you and people with low dietary cholesterol die of All Causes at higher rates, and have elevated chances of cancer.

All this research has been available for decades but it's largely been suppressed. No, that's not right -- researchers have put it like this: It wasn't suppressed, but no one linked the Framingham Nurse's Study, one of the most extensive studies trying to link fat and cholesterol to heart disease.

The study found that the normal-cholesterol subjects had no higher incidence of heart disease. No higher at all. BUT, the subjects following a low animal fat/low cholesterol diet died earlier of "All Causes" (meaning, just, all possible causes of death), and had higher rates of cancer.

Cholesterol is vital for brain function as well as sex and other hormones.

If you had to eat only one thing for the rest of your life, egg yolks would not be a bad choice.

(One of my experiments I'll get too eventually is eating nothing but eggs (well, and butter, stuff to cook them in, etc.) for a month.)

It's not that simple. They've used their monopoly power to make avoidance all but impossible. That's the problem.

It's like the credit card companies wanting to shut down gun manufacturers. Okay, you cancel Citi, but Chase is doing it as well. Master Card tried to block ALL affiliates from donating to David Horowitz.

We're past boycott territory and need to use government power.

*This* is the big debate about David Frenchism. The market is broken, thanks to Democrat and GOP collusion. The "wartime conservatives" (Will Chamberlain's formulation) understand this and want to use the power we still posses through the state to correct things.

The French Davidians don't, which is why they're being pilloried.

It's clear to me that National Review is being treated just like they treated the John Birch Society - driven out to remove the traitors from within. It's also helping to steel people for the coming fury.

It's even worse. Marx was a *horrible* economist. He was an excellent historian--but a horrible economist. And he created an economic theory at the basis of his ideology that is not the least bit competent.

This is what the Marxian house of cards is built on. And then it employs subterfuge and coercion on top of that. Lysenko was just treating nature as if it were consonant with Marxism. The Russians couldn't have Marxism conflicting with Nature, because Marxism is "materialistic", so they demanded that Nature by Marxist, and interpreted a cooperative Nature that obscured Nature itself.

The disaster of Lysenko was created by particularly committed Marxists applying the leverage of propaganda and coercion over any resistance by empirical feedback.

Yes, it was *specifically* about farming, but the dynamics are the same. Marxists ignore any discernable base nature of Man, and press to reform Man as we will. They ignore competitive Nature and demand a cooperative Nature which contributes to the reassociation of "Man" with his "dignity"--alienation of man from his "dignity" being the chief target of Marxism, in the first place.

If you've thought you've noticed a trial separation between leftists and reality, get ready for the nasty divorce.

231 The cholesterol stuff is now beyond the point of being able to hide it any longer -- the American Health Association, which is a sham organization responsible for all of the wrong things you know about health, has even changed its website to say that there's no connection between dietary cholesterol and heart disease. They also say that they no longer endorse a low-fat diet (though, having said that, they then go on to recommend a diet that is low-fat, even though they're not calling it that any more).

Well, given that they're among the most responsible for the cataclysm we call the American Dietary Guidlines from the 1980s until now, that's at least SOME progress.

Sure. And it's easy for some of us who never opened a facebook or pinterest account. No biggie.

You use Pinterest to post recipes and wedding ideas, you use facebook to share family photos? Awesome. Other use these modern tools to make connections, to let others out there know they are not alone in having certain values, to debate ideas, support organizations and candidates, make a living as a content creator (whether it's piano lessons, travelogue, news, whatever).

Why should half the country or more not have access to the current tools and tech simply because they believe a baby is alive while still in the womb, or that Orange Man is awesome, or stories have more than one side?!

Boycott means agreeing to be second class citizens, at least for those who use these tools more than casually for personal entertainment.

Sake of argument, say it's 1980. How the fuck are you going to run a business, as a non-lefty, or find non-lefty things, if they're wiped from the phonebooks and maps, the phone lines are disconnected, and the parcels they're located on have their address stripped? They're banned from print and TV ads? Banned from television? Hell, how about being shut out from banking, which is the same problem then as now?
These people are literally going through search engines, map services, web and media hosting services, and business listings and removing, blacklisting, or sabotaging anything they can get their hands on. It's been going on for years here and there as individuals get a spare moment to do it; now it's turned into a sort of crusade, backed by official policy.
There is no sitting this out. There is no opting out of a few services and going about your business. You will submit, or you will be ground under the bootheel - provided we don't opt to hoist the flag and go for it.

310 Statins are insane. There's a stat they mention a lot, I can't quite remember it, but it's something like this: Statins extend the lifetime, marginally, of one in two hundred users.

For the rest, there is absolutely no effect.

Posted by: ace at June 11, 2019 07:19 PM (PbpT7

Even worse, the only people that statins help marginally are people who've already suffered from a heart attack. And even then it only reduces that change by like 2% or something minute.

Yet doctors prescribe them like candy to anyone with elevated cholesterol.

Even worse, the numbers for 'normal' cholesterol were changed by Obama's DOH at the behest of the very pharmaceutical companies who produce statins.

313 So by reason, if they deplatform conservatives, they hope to corner the market on that mythical group of undecideds?

Even better, these sites try to profile their users by examining content posted by these users, but more important, the tracking data as these users visit sites.

For example, you look at a John Deere lawnmower on Tractor City website. Tractor City uses google and facebook analytics and these two giants now know that you were looking at lawn equipment and will sell this information to those who are want to know what customers are in the market for lawn equipment.

So now these social media sites ban or otherwise deprecate your use of the product .... REMOVE YOUR PROFILE altogether. Use VPN. That way these entities lose insight on how conservatives live, what we value, and the products and websites that interest us.

Their data becomes increasingly Lefty in its biases and their value to vendors who purchase this information drops as what the tech giants recommend degrade in quality due to the lack of diversity.

At some point businesses should recognize that social media insight is less and less valuable - unless wanting to market to loons, crybullies and the perpetually offended living in their mother's basement.

The rest is rather natural.

True. I try to limit my sugar intake to natural sources, so instead of candy, I have berries and such. I still like a bagel now and then, but I usually have some peanuts with my morning coffee to fill the salty requirement. (Note: I am not fond of coffee, but it does do the job I need it to.)

I was told to stop drinking diet pop and go with "healthier" solutions, which caused me to gain weight. So I'm back to caffeine-free Diet Coke which I prefer to the real thing, flavor-wise. (Also mixes well with rum).

The key to losing pounds is simple sugar or, essentially, carbohydrate reduction. Its just that simple. Man uses these simple sugar compounds for energy for movement - ie lifting or exercising, the rest is stored as fat until such time as movement or exercise is needed - why is this so hard since this simple principal has been none for decades?

I'm working on a prototype where people own and control their own data. What you end up with is containers that you control and grant/control access to and the market supplies browsers or applications that can host that data.

In this way, you are your own editor and the applications that can host or otherwise allow you to manipulate/view/process that data need your permission to do so.

Sort of like how email works now. Thunderbird or Outlook doesn't keep your data, it has your permission to access the container that keeps your data. If you don't like one email browser, you can discard it without loss and go to another that supports your data.

The trick is to space the exercise out so your metabolism accelerates. I work out in the morning, walk at lunch, and work out in the evening as well. Just 20 minutes or so, but it keeps me active.

I'm not as well read as you, but I don't buy the "you can't work out through a bad died" stuff. Yes, if you are a glutton, you can outstrip your ability to work off what you eat, but high activity levels do wonders.

I learned this the hard way in Army Basic, when I inhaled everything put before me in two minutes or less. I was 24 at the time and come out in superb shape.

Thing was, I had to slow down because I wasn't doing road marches and PT all day.

But the Army fed us well, and we ate everything in sight.

Most people don't have the will to push themselves that hard, is the thing. So I eat less, and try to move around more.

Raw green veggies are nice. Celery is a particular favorite of mine. Have a salad every day, too.

367 Not that exercise isn't good. but when people exercise, they get hungry, and they eat, and if they're not eating right, they're likely going to put on more weight than if they just neither exercised nor dieted.

I used to walk like 4 miles at a brisk but not althletic pace, and the reward myself with what I now call "The Hero's Feast," as if I were conan coming in from a day-long battle.

Jogging two miles burns off the calorie equivalent of twos slices of bread.

This just isn't where the calories are.

Interestingly, exercise just makes me sleepy (no elusive endorphins) and a lot less hungry.

368 107 paces a minute. That's the pace Stilwell walked his misfits out of Burma. People were dropping like flies. But then again it was humid jungle, skin ulcers, dysentery and Japs shooting people that kinda made things harder.

371 Bluebird, how do you get a VPN?

Just duckduckgo "best vpn" and start surfing.

I went with a life-time ProXPN premium account some time ago when there was a very attractive deal.

The next level involves using docker and a linux distro that goes through a VPN. That way websites that try to construct a "fingerprint" from your browser data get a truly worthless one, and whatever crap piggy-backed on your surfing is gone once you drop the docker container.

372 Someone tweeted this to Tim Pool-Facebook banned Dysfunctional Veterans today, they claim it violated its terms of service selling firearms (you can't if you're a privately owned company, but can if you are a company. They are a company)

It's a right leaning veterans group that openly supports Trump. 1 mil followers.

373 362 I've found beef jerky to be a pretty decent after exercise snack.

I love beef jerky but again: sweet. Its cured in sugar or honey or similar stuff.

374 Not A Sandwich

9" pie plate, 1/4 cu or your taste, each.

_spinach
_saur kraut
_cotto salami or roast beef
_1 tomato small
_1oz cheese
_chopped bell pepper
_chopped onion

Think big ice cream scoops of each around the perimeter with a big daub of mustard in the center.

375 The problem with avoidance (some like faceburn and penistrust are easy) is that something like 6 companies controls 99% of the media in the US. So its just difficult to not give them traffic living your daily life. But I am much more concerned with their in-kind campaign contributions through censorship. And if the Repubs in Congress don't recognize this they are the idiots we all thought they were.

377 But it was fashioned by the neo-Marxists of the Frankfort School (of Columbia U).

And it was a bunch of commies who saw that America's "proletariat"
could not be swayed to Socialism until it's values were broken down (per
Marx). This is why Social Marxism.

Yes, Marxists and Marxism had a lot to do with it, for sure. But they are only part of the picture, and the world has swung wildly from where Marx said it would go, or even could go, and even the poor Marxists can see it. This isn't so much about economics per se but on how humans try to benefit from other humans being squeezed into a highly connected, confusing world overflowing with wealth and pleasure. Exploitation, self delusion, identification, self fulfillment and so forth all flow from analysing how people do this. Put another way, economics is only social psychology with a uniform metric (money). IMO, leftists have identified with Marxists in that they eschew the primary psychological importance of the virtues in their formulation of how people can be predicted to act.
There are days I think Tolstoy was right.

379 Cadaveri eccellenti ("excellent cadavers" or "illustrious corpses") - it's the only way this sort of thing will be stopped. And, since we all know that won't happen, no point in fretting over it - just accept that it's the new normal.

380 Speaking of perverse, I am perversely satisfied that an eternity of Hell awaits most of these demons. Yes most. Some will discover their error and repent. The others will learn to worship the barbed c*ck, and not just Satan himself.
