Fake Libertarian Justin Amash Steps Down from the Freedom Caucus

The Great Clarifying continues:

He says he left the group on good terms, but didn't want to be a "distraction" to them.

Amash, speaking at a Freedom Caucus board meeting, insisted his departure was voluntary. Amash said he did not want to continue to be a “further distraction” for the caucus, which is chaired by North Carolina GOP Rep. Mark Meadows.

Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, a member of the Freedom Caucus, told Fox News’ “Ingraham Angle” Monday evening that Meadows and Amash mutually came to the decision after several conversations.

Jordan said the Republican members of the group still consider Amash a friend, but that their disagreements were “sharp” and significant.

The reason I call him a "fake libertarian" is that this alleged "libertarian" has no problems whatsoever with the unprecedented use of spies and surveillance against a rival presidential campaign, all based on rumors and frankly made-up claims pushed by the Hillary Clinton campaign, gathered by a foreign spy from (supposedly) Kremlin -- RUSSIAN!-- contacts.

We've never seen such an invasive, aggressive, anti-democratic, illegal effort to derail a presidential campaign and rig a presidential election before, all based on a "dossier" so flimsy and absurd that it's possible that the perpetrators may face jail time.

And yet the fake "libertarians" and "conservatarians" approve of these police state gestapo tactics while simultaneously clutching their pearls that this Trump character might be some kind of... authoritarian.

It's all about immigration. They are open borders zealots but do not want to publicly admit this, so they confabulate reasons unrelated to immigration to claim that Trump is unfit for office.

They're liars and grifters and should be driven out of public office and frankly public life. If you cannot admit your actual political position -- what the fuck are you doing in politics? Who needs you to pollute the public debate with diversions and deceit?

18 I'm at the point that their attacks against the President are trivial in comparison to the outright treason at all levels in this invasion at our borders.

The US is a Failed State. We don't have control over any of our borders, no control over budget, failed education system, and a corrupt and dysfunctional court system.

The Congo has thousands of Ebola cases going on, and now we discover that thousands of Congoese people are flooding in to the US.

And the government, at every level, is doing all that they can do to amp up this invasion jeopardizing everything.

When the ebola breaks out here, who is going to care who sexted who in a botched Russia collusion narrrative?

Libertarians seem to divide into three groups.

1) The "leave me the fuck alone" types.
2) The ones who have a lot of business interests that benefit from open borders/free importation
3) The ones who are drawn to it because it strokes their egos to believe in a slightly out of mainstream political philosophy.

This is the poison that the Dims in particular have brought to American politics.

For instance, on several issues Obama, in theory, ran to the Right of McCain, just as other Dims have done. Then once elected did whatever the fuck he wanted.

Not the the Republicans are innocent either what with Failure Theater playing every year after Reagan's two terms ended.

It's impossible to have informed voters and a legitimate gov't if the candidates constantly lie about their beliefs on fundamental issues.

It makes even a legitimately won election and the gov't as a whole illegitimate-

if the entire process is a scam.

This is what makes Trump so popular and so refreshing-

He says what he means and then actually tried to fulfill his promises to the voters.

The Republican Party better learn from Trump and better learn fast.

Trump said during 2015/2016 that he had a 50-state strategy. This didn't *completely* pan out (he didn't campaign in CA at all, for instance), but by and large he and his relatively small team stuck to that pretty relentlessly, as evidenced by his success behind the vaunted "Blue Wall."

The entire GOP established and all the other candidates ridiculed this. Really, it was peals of laughter from Trump's "right."

At the time, I was doing the math and saying "you people are right there's no path to 270, as long as our candidate doesn't try taking away traditionally Dem states." It was really the only choice. Hit 'em where they live.

But of course, that was the point, wasn't it?

A Sunday storm knocked out all power in a large part of Dallas. Most people were able to handle the non-working traffic lights by treating the intersections as 4 way stops. But I saw many women just blowing through them at 40mph and cars on their sides and one on its roof.

The holy trifecta for pretty much any/all libertarians (except for a small, tiny number of true classical liberals) are the 3 P's - P0rn, Pot, and Prostitution. One of which is pretty much legal pretty much everywhere, one of which will be legal in more than half the states in 3-5 years tops, and the other is de-facto legal because, seriously, aside from occasional busts for street work and the necessary cracking of trafficking rings, who ever really goes to jail for prostitution?

They're fighting not yesterday's battles, but last century's battles.

And anyone who calls themselves a "libertarian" who is totes A-OK with the spy-v-spy tactics used against Trump/Pence 2016 is a leftist, period, full-stop.

Cruz is by far the best trial lawyer in either the Senate or the House, he's got plenty of experience, and if you wanted to hire someone to fight your case, you couldn't do better than him.

But to be a real good Trial Lawyer you've pretty much got to be an asshole most of the time. It's part of the job, those two things go together. Cruz didn't have family connections or family money to move on up the ladder - he made it where he is by being a smart mouthed asshole who fought for every inch, every step of the way. So, that's who he is, he's never going to be anything else.

Yours is worse.

Mine just pulled a car I had an inquiry out about, nothing in writing, just saw the price online and reached out. It had been posted too cheaply by a few grand.

Then when I went in, the sales guy went to lunch basically in the middle of our conversation. And when I left contact info with the sales manager, they never contacted me.

So figured that was a sign. Got a good lease deal with Acura and went with that instead.

But a lion never forgets a slight.

251 I highly, highly recommend watching the Mark Steyn/Geo Papadopoulos interviews (posted on Steyn online and for some unknown reason still on Youtube). It is so much more than a weaponization pushed by the Hillary people. It was, by all appearances, a CIA and FBI driven op, including outright entrapment. Hillary may have been the inspiration or initial impetus, but it was clearly taken up by rogue intelligence and LE as their own cause.

One, thuggish detail that tends to get lost in the mix is how George P was given 10,000 in cash by a mysterious figure in Tel Aviv, tried to return it, then gave it to an attorney in Greece for safekeeping, only to be arrested and searched without pretext once arriving in the US by FBI, presumably to "find" undeclared cash they tried to plant on him.

Even reading the "perjury" counts against GP are sickening. Taking a statements voluntarily given by GP about Misfud as "BS ing" and is characterizing him as a "big nothing" as basis for perjury, because GP supposedly "knew" Misfud had big connections in Russia. So let me get this straight: if in an interview with the FBI I say Barack Obama is a big nothing and a BSer that's grounds for perjury, because the TRUTH is he is not a "nothing"?

The manifest bad faith and abuse by Mueller (apart from the CIA/FBI op) is so clear that I really think Barr needs to recommend charges against him as well.

278 266 There must be at least three articles/columns today in MSM Propaganda Press organs accusing Biden of everything short of being a Republican. They are accusing him of being anti-abortion, having GOP friends, making respectful remarks about Justice Thomas mid-Hi Tech Lynching (over Anita Hill's pubic hair allegation) and just generally not being woke enough.

Cui bono?

283 In 1983 Ted Kennedy went to the Soviet Union and offered to collaborate with them.

This is when the Soviet Union was an avowed *ENEMY* of the United States at a existential level - not just a rival like Putin's Russia.
Had Ronald Reagan then gone and had the CIA and FBI spy on the Mondale campaign based on this he would have been impeached, prosecuted, and jailed.

Because the core part of a republic is that you don't get to use the government against your domestic political opponents.

287 It was, by all appearances, a CIA and FBI driven op, including outright entrapment. Hillary may have been the inspiration or initial impetus, but it was clearly taken up by rogue intelligence and LE as their own cause.

I think a lot of law enforcement get caught up with winning the case more than doing justice, especially in the DOJ. I think they feel they're so right and so good and on the side of the angels so anyone who they put their sights on has to go down at any cost, so it sort of takes on a life of its own.

Well, look at who's NOT getting bad press and that's who the Dem power brokers want.

Sanders. He's getting almost no pushback or bad press. The worst thing that he's gotten in the press was self-inflicted with the "felon vote" nonsense. As awful and racist as this sounds, I think it was his attempt to appeal to black voters. You can almost hear him thinking in that Larry David voice "A lot of blacks are in prison. I should find a way to use that"

Can you imagine how much Lefty heads would detonate if Trump nominated Cruz to the SCOTUS?? HA!

Btw, Cuccinelli is taking over at DHS, and Never Trumpers and Democrats are OUTRAGED! OUTRAGED WE SAY!!! Pretty amusing how Trump did it; first, recall that Cuccinelii has domce out strongly against birthright citizenship and is in favor of using the military on the border. The GOP-e told Trump that was WAY too extreme and that they would never confirm him to a Cabinet position, that he should withdraw the name.

SO, instead, Trump never nominated him. Instead, he hired Cooch to be a Senior Deputy Secretary (something like that, it was a new position) and this did not call for any Senate Review. Then, he redid the organization chart and specified, that when there was no actual Homeland Security Secretary (remember Nielson either got fired or resigned) then the Senior Deputy Secretary was at the top of the chart and would be in complete charge of everything and be acting Secretary.

And the final part of the plan is to simply never nominate anyone for HS Secretary and just let Cooch run it as long as Trump wants him to. And the never-trumpers and rinos's in the Senate can complain and moan, but there isn't a damn thing they can do about it.

Posted by: Tom Servo at June 11, 2019 01:47 PM (Kpl3J)

298 And yet the fake "libertarians" and "conservatarians" approve of these
police state gestapo tactics while simultaneously clutching their pearls
that this Trump character might be some kind of...
authoritarian.

Everybody here knows this, but those who haven't paid much attention to politics probably doesn't: Obama set this up by his selective enforcement of laws. If he didn't like certain laws, he just didn't enforce them, like immigration.

Now President Trump takes office and seeks to fulfill his Constitutional duty by enforcing laws, Democrats start screaming that he's an "authoritarian." It's a nice little rhetorical smear.

I sure hope people know this and can see through it.

Hillary stole the 2016 nomination from him. So far he's let it go - presumably whatever deal he made led to his 3rd house which he bought in 2017...

But, if Bernie decides to actually make an issue of 2016's theft he can easily throw the election to Trump....so the Dems have to be very, very careful.

309 One, thuggish detail that tends to get lost in the mix is how George P was given 10,000 in cash by a mysterious figure in Tel Aviv, tried to return it, then gave it to an attorney in Greece for safekeeping, only to be arrested and searched without pretext once arriving in the US by FBI, presumably to "find" undeclared cash they tried to plant on him.

I agree with you. "Rogue" carries the connotation of one acting alone, which I completely agree was not the case. The scope of the surveillance/unmasking op itself belies the fact.
