Outstanding. The prick's lawyers were asking for 2 weeks in jail per year, so he could meditate on his poor decisional skills or something.

Now, I hope the family brings personal suit against the mayor of Minneapolis, who personally overrode the police examination board's repeated assertion that muzzie dude wasn't fit to be a cop.

Even after he repeatedly failed the various exams, she decided to give him a badge anyways.

28 Willowec repost on the dinner vs supper discussion

I looked up the etymology of dinner and supper and lunch
Dinner was the FIRST big meal of the day, from tthe Old Fench "disner" in turn from the Gallo/Roman "desjuner" to break one's fast. Originally from mid-morning to noon, the time for dinner shifted later by the fashionable classes (with their all night parties and late wakings)

Supper was the LAST big meal of the day from Old French "soper" - evening meal

Lunch was a light repast between meals, possibly from the English word meaning large slice. It is fairly recent dating only to around the 17th or 18th century
Prior to that there was nuncheon from the Old German noon+ drink and nunchmate from noon+meat

All these small private liberal arts colleges that once had unique and niche identities and idiosyncratic histories are spiritually evacuated -- all been subsumed within the great pod-college of Leftist grievance and sectarianism. No differences among any of them aside from location. Most were founded by Christians or philanthropic classic liberals -- traditions which have been eagerly and irrecoverably trashed.

122 I have been enjoying the Oberlin coverage since the verdict came down, mainly over at Legal Insurrection, the only blog that has been consistently covered this case. and they have done a marvelous, comprehensive job in covering it! For those of us who followed it day by day, it was clear that Gibson's attorney's were doing everything right, showing the plaintiffs (their clients) in the most sympathetic light, appealing to the juries basic fairness - and in contrast, Oberlin's attorney's were making every mistake an arrogant legal team can make, insulting the jury, insulting their town, insulting the people that live there.

Oberlin's main defense, in the end, came down to "eh, your business is worthless so who cares what we did." Seriously, that's what they gave to the jury - not a surprise that the jury reacted and threw the book at them! This is going to be a Textbook Case for defense lawyers, on how NOT to act in front of a small town jury!

Yes. LI has done a great job on a number of high profile cases.

In terms of strategies, what choices do Leftists ultimately ever have? Why is attack and calumny ALWAYS their first option? Because they have nothing else. They are wrong, on the wrong side of history, live and act in contravention of common sense, reasonableness, decency. This is why they are so desperate for power -- because coercion, deceit, intimidation, brute bullying force are the only things that work for them.

Oh, Krugman and other Leftists have been on about this for YEARS. They love war because it gives the Government the justification to clamp down on the Bill of Rights and rule by decree - they see it as the tool they could use to impose a Stalinist level of control over the entire country, especially those annoying red states that don't like bowing to D.C.

In January, the head of the school, Bryan Garman, sent a remarkable letter to parents of seniors in which he demanded that they stop "the verbal assault of employees." He also reiterated a policy banning them from recording conversations with counselors and making calls to counselors from blocked phone numbers. Good plan. The Cemetery is beautiful and awe-inspiring.

I like the Americ History museum, but be prepared for some PC crap, of course. Mrs. Bruce will like the hall of First Ladies and their gowns. Natural History is also interesting and Mrs. Bruce might be interested in seeing the Hope diamond. I love the National Gallery of Art - don't bother with the Hirshorn unless you want a laugh. Whistler's Peacock Room at the Sackler is worth a visit.

And of course the Air & Space is everyone's favorite, and also the most crowded, but good.

If you have time, got to the Trump Hotel (it's near the mall) and have a look at the gorgeous lobby!

172 On the other hand, by coming to an agreement this fast, he just made McConnell and all the other GOP-e senators who were coming out to oppose him look like shit, fools who stuck their necks out and went against their base for no reason at all.

-

I think this is the big reason so many politicians hate him, and especially Republicans. He's shown you can get stuff done fast, and the professional (R)s would constantly try to convince us that it takes 10 years and the popular vote to advance any conservative issues, and all of them have to be 75% leftist crap because compromise.

Trump has shown them to be bigger liars than we already knew they were. Lies of inaction, I suppose.

Funny that conservatives take a stand on a subject to the nth degree. Free Trade of the A Smith days are OVER. Mexicos second biggest industry is money sent home from US. All of Mexicos economy is a little over $1 T. Illegal Mexicans cost the US taxpayer about $130 B/year. The 5% tariff would have been about $13 billion. Ted thinks he is being true to his religion but he is being stupid.
