You think I'm making the Hitler joke but I'm not, really -- this gender nonconforming landwhale actually goes there.

I usually do not attack fat acceptance people because I think they are sad. Literally sad. I think they are mentally unbalanced and cannot cope with their appearance and health problems so they've constructed a self-justifying mythology along with a vengeance-seeking, attack-the-fit-people conspiracy theory.

And none of that's good, but let's face it: It's coming from a place of severe depression, likely mental health problems, and very likely physical health problems, along with a likely brief lifespan.

So I usually don't even mention these people. They're easy targets, obviously. I mean, literally, you know? Lot of wiggle room on your aim.

But... this is too much, and this is also being subsidized by colleges which are in turn being subsidized by American taxpayers.

With people being deplatformed every single day, should someone spreading dangerously false junk-food-science be feted on college campuses?

I have to pay for this? You have to pay for this? We have to collectively pay for desperate and broken people to spread their self-justifying conspiracy theories to others? And infect healthy minds with these sad delusions and mythologies?

Let's be brutal now. And let's stop paying money to lunatics to transmit their lunacies to others.

...the therapist in question, delivered her polemic in a two-hour lecture at St. Olaf College, Minnesota last week.

Take a guess which department hosted this event.

Puzzlingly, the lecture was hosted by the university's Wellness Center, in conjunction with the Women's and Gender Studies Department.

I kinda set you up for an easy one there.

"I truly believe that a child cannot consent to being on a diet the same way a child cannot consent to having sex," [this pork even horizon] declared, adding: "I experience diet culture as a form of assault because it impacts the way that I experience my body."

Fatty McGoo, a beer truck couldn't impact the way you experience your body without a five-mile run-up.

By the way, this jowly earthshaker identifies as a "non-binary unicorn."

The reason you don't see a horn on this "unicorn"? It was amputated due to diabetes, naturally.

While the overwhelming medical consensus recognizes obesity as a cause of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, strokes, and premature death, Rashatwar joins a growing number of 'fat acceptance' and 'health at every size' activists who argue otherwise. Science, she told the crowd, is a white supremacist tool designed to oppress the obese.

I've heard that. All The Things are white supremacist systems of control, really.

"We should be critical of the use of science and the production of knowledge to continue promoting this idea that certain bodies are fit, able, and desirable… is it my fatness that causes my high blood pressure, or is it my experience of weight stigma?" Rashatwar, who uses the gender-neutral 'they/them' pronouns, asked.

1, it's the first one. Your extreme morbid obesity causes your high blood pressure.

2, for the first time, I'm going to go ahead and say I'm okay with the usage of the plural pronouns here.

When you weigh as much as the average bowling team, yeah, you've earned that pluralization.

But there's more:

"Fatphobic" science is "often actually eugenic science… eugenic science is Nazi science," she continued.
After denying the link between obesity and high blood pressure, Rashatwar attempted to link Christchurch mosque slayer Brenton Tarrant's murder spree with his love for physical fitness.
"I do not think it's surprising that the man who shot up Christchurch, New Zealand was also a fitness instructor," the self-described "Donut Queen" said. She argued that the shooting was "a clear communication that there's still an idealized body. Nazis really love this idea of an idealized body, and so it makes a lot of sense to me that a fitness instructor... might also think about an idealized body in this thin white supremacist way."

This is what the Women's and Gender Studies programs are doing with your money on government-subsidized colleges.

Tim Pool makes the point that this person is not just physically unwell, but mentally unwell, and schools are hosting this person so that They can virally spread their "neurodivergent" mentally-unwell ideas to people who are themselves vulnerable to such influence.

We're paying crazy people to teach other crazy people how to be crazier, in other words.

And the left, which is eager to call people "denialists" if they notice that the evidence for global warming is very thin, will absolutely not call out colleges or their fellow leftists for peddling this kind of anti-science lunacy, because the morbidly obese and mentally unwell gender-nonconforming unicorn demographic is actually one of their most passionate activist blocs.

And I do mean blocks.

It's one thing for this madness to spread on Tumblr. If Tumblr has found its niche as "InstaGram for Morbidly Obese Girls," fine. I've never said a damned thing about this before.

But now on colleges? Sponsored by (alleged) real, truth-seeking departments?

Paid for by students and taxpayers generally?!

I have to say -- this is undoubtedly true.

There is hormonal evidence to suggest that as you gain wait, your hormones get all fuckity, and you feel depressed, so you gain more wait.

I know when I'm thinner, I literally feel better (mentally and physically) then when I gain 10-20 pounds. That, more than my appearance, is usually my "trigger" to go back on a diet.

I can't even imagine how shitty it must feel to be THAT overweight. I legit feel bad for people who are that obese.

We have close friends whose son ate almost nothing but bread. Literally. Pickiest eater I've ever seen in my life, and his mother is a great cook.

Anyhow, he graduated from a top engineering school a year ago, and is now in Seattle working for Amazon. Have no idea what he eats now.

I think its a combination of insulin resistance and hormonal imbalances caused by being so overweight.

I've never been anywhere close to her size, but I have had a few fat periods in my life, and it is kind of hard to just "cut back" at first.

Until you change your diet, and your body gets used to it. Then its easy AF.

But just eating a smaller portion of lasagna isn't a sustainable way (for me at least) to lose weight. Eating empty carbs all day keeps you hungry all day because your hormones are all out of whack.

Have to give up the empty carbs altogether.

I had a morbidly obese co worker at a previous job who broke the toilet seat at work more than once.

Like it sounds funny, it wasn't really. He was super embarrassed about it.

And he also only ate normal portions during the work day. He must have really eaten a lot at home (or drank a lot of beer, I guess.)

He couldn't even fit in the back seat of a car, so he always drove when we went anywhere.

It was really sad.

Right. Like I'm not thin, I'm on the normal weight / overweight border on the BMI scale (but I work out, too), and I accept that I'd look better, feel better and be healthier if I lost, say, 10 pounds.

Yeah, my dad had it, and had gotten pretty big. The medication (once diagnosed) and some dietary changes (not many, for that matter) knocked it right back to normal. He could probably stand to lose a few more pounds, but he's no longer at an unhealthy weight.

I don't know if that works for everyone, though. I know sometimes it's more severe than his issue.

Kid I grew up with from a normal size family had to spend every summer at a fat camp -- lost a few pounds but nothing significant. Parents were always shamed because the kid was ginormous. As medical stuff was going on and he was tested for thyroid, diabetes, hormone imbalances, etc, when he hit 21 he said no more. Saw him just a couple years ago, same size, and he told me that all he can do is weight watchers. No matter how much or how little he eats, he is the same. Nice guy, even after all the abuse.

2. My Fat Fabulous Life, about a promiscuous Fat Pride activist girl who weighs about 400 pounds and traipses around insisting that being fat is better than being normal-weight and that Fat Is Beautiful and all the rest of the fat Acceptance mantra.

These two shows often are on the air on the same night on TLC.

So -- which is it? Fat is bad, or fat is good?

(Answer: Fat is bad.)

I guess TLC wants to have its cake and eat it too (heh), and attract viewers from BOTH opposing camps, even though their overall programming schedule thereby makes no sense.

Look. I'm morbidly obese though I prefer the term fat because morbidly obese sounds all medically and like it's a medical condition when I'm just a plain old fat cow.

And that's bad. I don't think it's a good thing in the slightest. What's interesting is that I have none of the health problems that should be associated with being as 29 years old as I am and a fat cow. I chalk that up to the luck of the draw. Also I assume it will catch up to me at some point and that right quick.

I don't have an issue with "fat acceptance" of the type that hey stop making fun of people who are fat who are walking 1.5 miles per hour on the treadmill for 10 minutes and sweating profusely while doing so because they're trying and that should be encouraged.

I do have an issue with putting people with my body type in bikinis and saying look! Look how beautiful!

544 OK...my niece is a nurse. She is, well, large. She had the stomach belt thing done. A lot of problems with it but she stuck with it and finally adjusted to it. This was a year ago.
She has lost about 80 lbs. Looks and feels a hell of a lot better. She will freely admit, her problem is in part genetics (both parents are big) but the difference between genetics and just being fat is what she eats. Now she eats well, and exercises regularly. She's actually fun to be around.

Look. I'm morbidly obese though I prefer the term fat because morbidly obese sounds all medically and like it's a medical condition when I'm just a plain old fat cow.

And that's bad. I don't think it's a good thing in the slightest. What's interesting is that I have none of the health problems that should be associated with being as 29 years old as I am and a fat cow. I chalk that up to the luck of the draw. Also I assume it will catch up to me at some point and that right quick.

I don't have an issue with "fat acceptance" of the type that hey stop making fun of people who are fat who are walking 1.5 miles per hour on the treadmill for 10 minutes and sweating profusely while doing so because they're trying and that should be encouraged.

I do have an issue with putting people with my body type in bikinis and saying look! Look how beautiful!

Well, according to my BMI from the physical I had yesterday, I'm obese. I run, cycle, lift weights and do push ups at a minimum, 3 times a week. I'm in decent shape. The BMI is garbage.

I wouldn't be so hard on yourself. If you feel you need to work on it, do so. Count points, do whatever to limit the calories and get the bodies metabolism in check. Burn some calories and you'll be fine.

I went to college with a girl who had an insanely fast metabolism and had difficulty keeping weight on. She was rail thin naturally and it didn't matter how much she ate, she burned through it. Needless to say, all the other girls were jealous.

Well. She also got confused for a guy regularly what with being completely flat chested, was constantly cold, had very low blood pressure and was prone to passing out, and when she got married they decided to have kids right away and it took them years to get pregnant and a lot of money and a lot of tears.

How does one glue oneself to "the ground"? Ground is dirt, or vegetation, and if one glues oneself to that, once can get up easily enough, albeit with a new coat of dirt, or lawn clippings.

Yeah..... My chart says I should weigh 175 lbs.

I wrestled in high school at 185. Struggled to get there my senior year and carried BF in the single digits.

So my ideal body weight is ten lbs under THAT.

I still lift and carry alot more muscle now than I did when I was 17.

No fucking weigh.... (pun intended) I get to 175.

I had an acquaintance who was training for the Olympics in dressage. She did not come from money and thus to pay for it, she worked more or less as an indentured servant for one of the world's top trainers. She spent about 18 hours a day doing manual labor. She was so in shape people assumed she was a rock climber or some such. Her body fat percentage got down to 5-6% which is dangerously low for women.

Per the BMI charts, she was obese.

BMI is for shit.

Even non concentration camp folks where skinnier back then, but not necessarily healthier. A lot of people where underweight because they grew up starving or facing illnesses that we've eliminated today.

IIRC, when the military first instituted weight management programs and PT units for basic training, the goal was to get underweight recruits up to fighting condition, not thin out fatties.

They ate appropriately for their activity level. You need to be very active if you're eating the three traditional meals a day with the kind of portions we're used to.

Being an IT guy, I eat one large meal at lunch (a fast food large combo is roughly equivalent, and sometimes the actual thing) and small snacks - just enough to not be hungry - for breakfast and dinner. It works.

677 I went to college across town from St. Olaf. I was actually accepted there, but didn't choose it. To the best of my knowledge, St. Olaf is a private college, not funded by the taxpayers. Yeah, they accept federal grants for specific programs and for financial aid, but they aren't a state school in any way.

Well, our Bronx neighborhood had a "candy" store which included a long counter as part of its soda fountain. The counter had those spinning top stools which were set in the cement and relatively unmovable. Now at the time, Louie was varying from 300-400 avoirdupois pounds so when he sat on a stool (which he did several times a day for the most obvious reason) nobody, not even Twiggy, could sit on the stools on either side of him. So, one day, when the store was really busy, Louie belly-ed up to the counter which kind of annoyed the owner at least to the point where he announced, "Do me a favor Louie, when you take a stool, take two stools 'cause when you take one stool I lose three stools.".
