Most computer applications nowadays can read FEN, so those of you who may want to study the position, you can copy the line of FEN and paste into your chess app and it should automatically recreate the position on its display board. Or, Windows users can just "triple click" on it and the entire line will be highlighted so you can copy and paste it into your chess app. ___________ So that about wraps it up for this week. The 1820 dress is decorated like a pelisse but isn't in my book, a pelisse is a short over jacket decorated with braid like the dress but also has fur edging. Popular in military wear with hussars from the early 1700's through the Napoleonic wars and after. Military wear often was copied into civilian styles. The pelisse was usually worn over the shoulder unless needed for weather.

Nadler is on three of the Sunday Morning programs tomorrow. Schiff is on two. They're going to double down on continuing investigations to find something, anything. Will any of Wallace, Tapper or Todd say "have you no decency, sir?" My bet is no, as they've also been humping the lie for two years. Can Media sink any lower? Posted by: Ignoramus at March 23, 2019 07:42 PM (1UZdv) 1. no. 2. yes. I wish all tests were this easy. Posted by: LeftCoast Dawg at March 23, 2019 07:49 PM (sy5kK) 289
Can Media sink any lower?
Posted by: Ignoramus From the profession that gave us Walter Duranty, Walter Cronkite, and several famous traitors not named Walter? I think they can get much lower. Posted by: Prince Ludwig the Deplorable at March 23, 2019 07:50 PM (gkstg) Posted by: Tonypete at March 23, 2019 07:51 PM (Y4EXg) 291
AP has a "story" that is pure leftist fiction. They will not let go it of it even though Lurch has thrown in the towel
Posted by: TheQuietMan at March 23, 2019 07:47 PM (3Yp8G) ------------------------------ Chuck Schemer has already set the table for this in his presser on Friday. They want the entire report with all backup. They know Barr can't do that by law. They will point to any missing info as the places where the cover up occurred. The gal in the B&W photo is Carolyn Grey. Per Getty Images:
"Order Clerk Carolyn Grey walking down Hollywood and Vine. (Photo by John Florea/The LIFE Picture Collection/Getty Images)" https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news- photo/order-clerk-carolyn-grey-walking- down-hollywood-and-vine-news-photo/50493021 Based on that, it looks like the pic was originally published in LIFE Magazine. Not sure why they called her an Order Clerk though. She was a singer. American jazz vocalist. She had already established herself as a popular radio vocalist on the West Coast in the early 40's. She was hired by Woody Herman in 1941 to join his Orchestra and went on touring. That lasted until 1943, in that summer she stopped suddenly. In October 1944, she joined up with Sonny Dunham to play and tour with his band. In 1945 she got the opportunity to record a record of her own. In 1946 she replaced the female singer of Gene Krupa And His Orchestra, Anita O'Day who became ill and couldn't work anymore. She became very popular, but after getting married and the bitrh of her first child, she stopped touring and recording in 1947. In 1953 she tried to make a come-back, without much success. https://www.discogs.com/artist/1950076-Carolyn-Grey And a couple of clips of her singing with Gene Krupa And His Orchestra. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uQvgQt6DEY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLiazbn41OY Who cares, right? Just something about old photos makes me want to get the backstory. Posted by: Anon Y. Mous at March 23, 2019 07:53 PM (bp3BU) 295

16 As usual, I'm too late, but Nf6+ was my first thought too. Since the B threatens g8, black is forced into 1... QxN, then 2. QxQ. If I'd been on time I'd have offered that as the solution. It's not every piece but it's just about as good.

I was schooled about that. Black Rook to the 1 row, checkmate. Have to keep the Black King hopping out of check to win. Posted by: NaCly Dog at March 23, 2019 08:08 PM (u82oZ) 304
I hung my queen in a high school chess match once. I managed to take his back a couple of moves later. My opponent was convinced I was a Super Genius who did it on purpose.

So I assume normal etiquette is to keep OT stuff down here, and let the movie thread writhe in its agony unmolested?

I took a nap which lasted longer than I intended. But sleep is good. I only wish I could save it up for those weeknights when I wake up at 3 AM and spend the rest of the night tossing and turning until the alarm goes off.
Thanks for highlighting last week's Problem 2, OM. I'm glad to see that it wasn't my own incompetence that prevented me from finding a win in that position. It looks like it should be easy, and I just figured I'd while away a few minutes playing it out against my computer. That turned into an hour or two of draw after draw after draw. The closest I came to a win was when Black's lone king stalemated White's king and pawn. Posted by: rickl at March 23, 2019 11:27 PM (sdi6R) 307
