I have an AMBIENT WS-1171 weather monitor that gives temps, barometric readings, and humidity. The barometric reading follows along with the local airport readings pretty close. And BION it allows you to "calibrate" the humidity readings. Something every other weather monitor I have add was sorely lacking in. You can adjust the indicated humidity up or down. So I "calibrated" mine using a wet bulb-dry bulb thermometer with a "wind source" on it.

We could get ridiculous replays of Revenue Agents chasing moonshiners through the hills again, while they wonder why all of the locals hate them. (you're just a grubby tax collector, you're not an Officer of the Law)
People have forgotten why Prohibition fell apart so quickly in the early 30's; it wasn't just that people were sick of it. The depression had begun, and every state was running out of money - legalization and harvesting the revenue stream was one of the only realistic ways to get the states out of the financial hole they were in.
Expect every blue state that has jacked up tax rates, and that is seeing falling revenues because of this, push for full legalization soon for this reason.
And of course, once half the country has full legalization, it will be pointless for the other half to try to restrict it.

Anytime we had to make an entry into our Containment Vessel since the temps in the Summer ran about 120 to 130 degrees with high humidity we had to calculate a "stay time" for OSHA. And the sling psychrometer was the ONLY humidity measuring device they allowed us to use.
But you can achieve almost equal accuracy with a wet bulb - dry bulb thermometer and a "wind source" like a small fan.

Read carefully, and see that what happened is that they revoked her PASSPORT, on the grounds that she had never in fact been a citizen. The Trump administration is repeating that argument today.
If it were to be found that she was a citizen at birth, then she would unquestionably have the right to return, since US Citizenship from birth can *never* be revoked, as per a 1967 Supreme Court Ruling.

I don't know. I know the bias of the Horde regarding him, but I'm really not that sure.
The guy likes narrow rulings that he can get across as many of the justices as he can, so it may be that if the feeling is there, we could see some opinion that says that under certain specific circumstances the government can strip citizens of their citizenship, but only after applying a specific legal test (like joining a terrorist organization with the expressed purpose of destroying the United States).

I've seen some stuff by Dune geeks who are unhappy with Jason Mamoa playing Duncan Idaho. They feel he is too muscular for the role. I like the book but I'm far from a geek. And I have no opinion about Mamoa playing Duncan Idaho.

I really feel like Dune is one of those stories that is much better suited to a longer format. Real difficult to cram into 3 hours the amount of stuff you'd need to do the story justice.

Duncan isn't really that important to the first book, but he's super important in the rest. In the rest, I see him as more of an spy or assassin type than an outright warrior.

If it's camera gear though - that goes elsewhere. Because Amazon has the happy parts-bin, and gray market or counterfeit items from other sellers get mixed in there.

Well, the movie is going to be the first half or so of the first book with hopes that it does well enough financially to fund a second film to cover the rest.
So, we're potentially looking at upwards of a 6 hour telling of the story with a mega-Hollywood budget.

Yeah, that is probably going to be hyped up by cast and crew in interviews.
I kind of doubt it actually appears in the movie itself.
The point of the book isn't to keep Arrakkis the same, but to induce climate change and change the face of the planet. That doesn't square well with the modern views on climate change of keeping everything the same and actually reverting to a natural state.

The Lynch version I just love for the Baroque flavor of the whole world and that while the Emperor's all gold throne room represents the pinnacle it is also all falling apart.
Yeah the set design, costuming, etc, were all brilliant and worked very well. I even didn't mind the blocky early CGI shields. The only part they didn't nail was the stillsuits: no hoods???

I wish there was more color to it.
Too much black and tan everywhere. Dune is a weird book that shows off a flamboyant universe. There's plenty of room for vibrant colors in costumes, props, and overall production design.

There is surrealism I like. Dali, for instance, has beautiful works, just loaded with meaning.
Most surrealists made works whose meaning doesn't extend beyond the frame - the work is a thing unto itself.
It exists solely to reject meaning. It's basically a form of nihilism.
Magritte, in particular, is troubling to me. He was so skilled... look at his use of trompe l'oeil. He could have used his powers for good, but made this fluff instead. He's to art what John Mayer is to the guitar.

Since books and movies are different mediums, they have different aspects that make them great, and that doesn't always translate across.
Think of Dickens (I'm in the middle of writing a review of an adaptation of Great Expectations, going up soon). His books aren't only great because they have wonderful characters and well executed plots and themes. They're also great because Dickens wrote really well.
How do you translate that to screen? His descriptions of people and places?
In my mind, there's little point in comparing a book to its movie, because they're inherently different beasts.

Swelling is caused by an inrush of blood to the injured area.
Relocating the inrush of blood may prevent swelling in the unwanted swell area.

This. I had a cuff injury and just pushed through it doing stupid shit and in severe pain. By the time i had a repair i had also torn my bicep and other miscellaneous shit. No bueno. Stay off your arm. So to speak.

Well basically its the first one or two chapters of the book turned into a far better story than Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep with its bizarre religion and extremely long page count for a very short story concept

I thought Dune was a pretty cool movie, but definitely had some weird
shit happening and strange technology. The sardaukar looked like they
were dressed to paint cars, or powerwash the underside of a cruise ship.
I'm not sure I ever understood WTF was going on politically in that
movie.

I think the scope and scale of Dune is impossible to capture in a single movie. One of the dumbest things I ever did in High School was to write a book report on Dune - because I loved the book so much. Longest book report in the history of the world. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

Ice/anti-inflammatory and maybe some internal and external rotation exercises.
I'm not a fan of loaded back squats. Spine and shoulder problems can often happen.
