Saturday Morning Coffee Break

***

Good morning. Here are just a few items that didn't get too much attention here at the AoSHQ this past week.

  • Love is blind. Love is brave.

  • Need a laugh? Here you go.

  • AZ has bigger problems than porn. H/T redc1c4

  • Mother is quite the Junior Achievement instructor.

  • Maybe the GND should head to Russia and do a little colluding over there.

  • Serious couch time required.

  • Naughty dog, naughty, naughty.

  • The whole thing sounds smells fishy.

  • The reason why we can't have nice things.

  • Wow man. That's some big cat.

  • He was arrested for the warrants, fleeing, and possession of methamphetamine, and really bad tattoos. What a dumb f*ck.

  • Coconut milk does a female body good?

OK, here are just a few rules for this open thread. No running with sharp objects, the 'ettes don't have cooties and leave their hair alone and as always, place nice with one another.

Here's hoping you have a great weekend!

    Eh.

The basic problem is that we, of the middle and working class, make poor revolutionaries.

    Why?

Because to be a member of the middle and/or working class, you:

    1) Obey and respect the Law
    2) Have planned out your life and have goals
    3) Have responsibility to your family
    4) Don't have a lot of free time because of family, church, business, friends, social obligations
    5) Aren't sitting around waiting for someone or something like gov't to make your life better, you're doing it yourself for yourself.
6)Take responsibility for your own life.

Taken all together that means the middle and working classes will watch their lives sink slowly then vanish quickly before they will take action.

Trump, despite all the howling by the leftards, was a polite knock on the door as usual. Working through the system, doncha know.

If, if we of the middle and working classes, actually decide as a group to take action,

then, yes, we will win and win quickly because we and the planners and doers. We plan and do what we set out to do.

Very unlikely though. The Left has effectively fractured society and natural allies.

Look at the war against boys. How many mothers who want successful sons and young women who want to marry successful men would support that?

ZIp. Zero. Nada. In a rational world.

How many do support it?...a lot.

Strangely enough, if violence comes, it won't be because of the Dims exactly.

It will be because a-holes like the Turtle have frustrated all peaceful means of effecting change.

22 I'm assuming there were icy conditions at play in that video? We had a 50 car pile up on I-70 yesterday. Plenty of video and it's terrifying. There were 2 fatalities. One video was taken by a trucker who was stranded and cars just kept flying by him and smashing into each other. One car was clearly UNDER another big truck and the driver severely injured. It was hard to watch.

The National Pubic Rodeo "news" came on while I was on my way to the gig yesterday and they had played a sound bite of that imbecile Kalifornia lawyer about PTD's emergency decree. Good thing I was able to turn it off before the stoopid blew out a speaker.

Good Lord. Where do they keep finding these mental defectives to occupy high office? They act like existing immigration law just doesn't exist. Of course this could've been stopped a lot sooner if someone had arrested the first mayor who declared a "sanctuary city." Or at least cut off their federal funds. The right action taken at the right time didn't happen, so here we are.

More like, "I'd like to order 25 pizzas. I made up this $300-off coupon + demand you take it, and if you want to talk about it at all I'll leave."

Queens: Where did this coupon come from? $300 is too much. Who gave this to you? This is weird.

Them: I TOLD YOU $300 OFF 25 PIZZAS

    we
hope that is happening, but it is also where investigations go to die.
Years of fanfare about "can't talk about it, it is under
investigation". Then they report ... "gosh, mistakes were made, just
errors of judgment ..." That is what happens in the corrupt side of FBI fake investigations/coverups, routinely.

    Maybe
we get a couple scapegoats, but the political damage to Trump's efforts
over the last two years, and Mueller's use of a completely partisan
(for Hillary) crew, show this is not on the up and up, imo. The dawn
raid on Roger Stone, coordinated with CNN ... not the work of a serious
investigation, playing it by the book. It was Stalinist, a message they
    are in control.

Still waiting for that dawn raid to get Hillary's emails ... or any Dem dawn raid.

Always a possibility. But I'm pretty sure Trump and Barr and the rest of the non-corrupt players know they have a serious credibility problem at the DOJ/FBI and doing nothing is not going to make things better. That is not Making America Great Again.

I also think it's beyond curious that McCabe is going on a media tour right now and already stepping on his crank. The story he is now telling directly conflicts with his Congressional testimony and those of others like Comey.

And if he isn't in legal jeopardy, why did his lawyer rush to put out a statement clarifying his 60 Minutes interview? If nobody cares then who cares what he says about what went down?

Anyway, all we can do is wait and watch and speculate. Tomorrow evening when the full interview airs should be interesting.

    * Unilaterally decided to suspend Immigration Law ("Deferred Action")

The original reports said a juvenile lion weighing 70-80 lbs. The more recent article said 35-40 lbs. That seems more likely since the runner was 5'10" and 150 lbs. Still quite an accomplishment.

But the story also reported that at necropsy, investigators were unable to determine the sex of the lion. This seems odd.

    So I see three possibilities:

-a male who attacked out of feelings of inadequacy or rage at being found 'tucking',

    -a hormonal female.

-a misgendered mountain lion in mid-transition

190 I have managed the past few year to maintain a relationship with one of my lib sisters mostly by both of us just not talking about politics. It is has been increasing tense around her the past couple years but she has managed to hold her tongue plus we don't see her much. My wife (a latina from a dirt poor socialist shit-hole so she knows where Dems are leading us) recently tried to arrange a short vacation with her and our kids, something we do usually once a year or so. Sister starts ranting (by email) about Trump ruining the country just doesn't understand how we can support him, she has already dissociated with friends that are Trump supporters and doesn't think she can stand spending time with us or others knowing we support him...

She is also single childless, moderately wealthy, lives, works and plays in all-white liberal bubble and spends her spare time chasing hippie bands and riding her bike supporting causes. Check all the boxes of lib elitist yet she considers herself a moderate and just can't see
much wrong about her beloved Democrats who are smart, wise kind, compassionate,
smart. etc... Everything is the fault of the flyover deplorables who she has utter contempt for and has never hidden it for the past 30 years.

My wife is just responding we will plan something else, enjoy your next trip. No sense in getting into fight and making things worse, nobody is changing her mind about anything. I have another lib sister, calmer, married with kids. all libs. They too live in the same all-white lib bubble They don't rant but merely wont talk to me.
I have thought for awhile don't think there is a solution to our problems and this perfectly demonstrates why. There is no reasoning with this, not even agreeing to disagree and not discuss politics. This country is headed towards a disaster.

Might I suggest you have a really good legal team on retainer before you attempt this, because every government funded liberal group will be trying to bankrupt and expose you as a racist hater*!

That's what I meant about being coordinated. You'd need to have all your legal ducks in a row and be prepared for what you know would happen, as you describe. I think you'd need the law itself plus any precedents. It would need to be pretty airtight legally, enough so some Hawaiian judge's wrong ruling would be easily overturned.
Especially if there's some arcane law that states that officials must enforce the law. If it's a big enough uproar, even if you didn't win, it'd wake some more people up.
I'm thinking specifically of the situation in Portland where Pantifa has taken over blocks of property with the apparent approval of the city government.
It'd be worth a try at least, IMO. We've got to start showing some strength against the Progs and start fighting back.

The thing with this movie is that it seemed so unnecessary. Again, the movie overall it cute and the voodoo thing is fine. But when I noticed how far they went to mainstream Christian bashing, it made the show less fun. There wasn't even any humor in it. It was like the left when they try to move the goal posts by mainstreaming radicalism.

Except Slapshot is the best sports movie ever and Major League isn't.

So, funny sidebar. I saw Major League in Paris, it was in English and subtitled in French. The French subtitle writers did not have a clue about how baseball works.

So Bob Uecker would say "he's batting .270 this season" and the subtitle would be "he has 270 hits this season". Then the next batter is up and Uecker says "he's a .250 lifetime hitter" and the subtitle went "he has 250 hits in his lifetime."

Having a second address I went over to Jersey. Popped in, picked up their handbook, went out to the parking lot and read through it, went back in and aced the test. 15 minutes total time, if that. Incredibly easy test. The driving part I didn't need.

I thought about that too. Same genre, even same subject. Bull Durham would be considered a much more racy movie but it treated the token Christian guy with a lot more respect. And again, my complaint is not about how they treat the character, as the guy in major league is a bit of an ass. But I found the treatment of Christianity to be over the top insulting. Oops, I was a bit slow...

Not a Christian movie, but Starship Troopers 3, which won't get much love from the book people, has a female character who is introduced at the beginning AS IF she is nothing but a slut, kept around so the general (or whatever) could have a piece when he wanted it.

Turns out that was completely wrong! Not only is she not a slut, but her character is strong in her faith, continues to keep it all while those around her mock her and/or lose their faith in whatever it is they believe in.

And in the end, she's right! One could say her prayers are answered, although I suppose the atheists might just say it was all coincidence.

There was a PA woman who had a concealed carry permit who got stopped for a traffic violation in NJ and was arrested, convicted, and sentenced to prison because NJ didn't recognize her PA permit.

They filed Chapter 11 last year, mostly because they've made some boneheaded financial moves in the past 10 years or so.

Plus, they have a bad habit of building shitloads of really weird variants of the flagship Les Paul model, but they flat out refuse to fix some of the known flaws of the original design (specifically the really weak headstock which breaks if you look at it funny). Another stupid idea: the autotuning system that no one asked for, that they put into EVERY Les Paul for several years.

When I'm not being flippant about this subject, I will say in all honesty, the criminal justice system is about as corrupt as it can be.

I operate around its edges, and get to see it pretty clearly from my vantage point. I don't begrudge ANYONE for making money in their profession, what I do object to is a system that is set up essentially ENTIRELY to make money for those who operate in it, and sells itself as something else.

    That's the law.

The laws that get enforced are the ones that are profitable for the so-called justice system. The ones that get ignored are not enforced. It has nothing to do with right and wrong, and it has nothing to do with STOPPING lawbreaking from occurring.

So... one of the consequences, and I think this is the worst part, is to encourage entire swaths of the population to view abiding by the law as a sellout. The absolute disrespect for the law is an INTENDED consequence of the "justice" system operating the way it does.

    Because it's good for business.

    End. Rant.

Posted by: Weasel at February 16, 2019 10:14 AM (MVjcR)

Consider getting both a surgical stapler and steristrips. Both are easier to deal with than sutures, and if you go to the MD for "finishing" they are easier to undo. And they will want to undo them to make sure you washed out all the grit and stuff.

He messed around with it then looked at the price tag. Told me if I could afford one to get it for the gigs and leave the DN8 at home and quit risking dinging it up on my snare or hi-hat.

The blues is the foundation of American music and the very best intro to bass, IMHO. I'd recommend finding an inexpensive 4-string, there are some really good ones out there. As simple as the blues appears, there are infinite subtleties once you get further into it. More feel than anything else.
Also, look up Adam Neely if you haven't already. He's a jazz bassist and a monster player and he talks more about music in general than just focusing on bass. Oh, and there's Rick Beato's channel. I found him because one of the cobs had a link to him in the sidebar a few months back. Great teacher. Have fun playing. I sure do.

Here's what I gather from the various blogs/Twitter peeps on the French protests. The city folks are fine with high taxes on motor fuels (they use diesel mainly). Sound familiar? So Macron jacked them up. The people outside of the cities were no longer making a profit on transporting goods to the cities, or operating their farm machinery, all the stuff reliant on fuels. So they jacked the prices up to compensate.

The city folks didn't appreciate that. Macrons approval ratings reflect the dissatisfaction of both groups as he is down in the low 20's.

So, France doesn't know what it is and the rifts in society burst. Loyalty to the EU, immigration, Corsica independence, climate change cultism. All tearing France's national identity apart.

Posted by: FireHorse at February 16, 2019 08:42 AM (Lj7FZ)

I appreciate that but you are making me bring up a pet peeve. In fact I can't guarantee I won't mention this a few times this weekend.

Unless you live in one of the 26 states that celebrate "President's Day"*, there is not such thing as President's Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Federal Holiday is called George Washington's Birthday. And all the really cool states celebrate Washington, and a few add in Lincoln. My personal belief is that we should get off for Washington and Lincoln's birthdays. Of course this holiday is always on a Monday because people like themselves some three day weekends so it is not always celebrated on Washington's actual birthday. But that is nothing unusual, the MLK day is always on a Monday too.

If you live in one of the states that does not take a day to celebrate Grover Cleveland and Bill Clinton, it is called George Washington's Birthday. Actually the nomenclature is not always consistent. In Virginia is is George Washington Day. Utah celebrates Washington and Lincoln Day. And most of the others go with a variant of George Washington's Birthday.

It seems as if everyone now believes the holiday is President's Day. Again, the federal holiday is NOT called this, period. The car and bed salesmen have done their job. I don't think this is done by accident, no sir, it is by design. It is called subtraction by addition.
