This is another position where one player, in this case White, resigned in a winning position. He probably saw that 1.f7?? would be met with 1...Rc1+ 2.Ke2 d1=Q+ and threw in the towel. But he missed several lines that actually win.

Goal: use the pawns to force simplification
Hint: break up Black's dominance on the d-file

Black can't move the knight. If 1...Ng6, then 2.Qf7#

2.Bxg6+ Nf7 (if 2...Nxg6 then 3.Qf7#)
3.Bxf7# (or 3.Qxf7#)

In all of the lines, the key is to force the defending knight out of position.

More Challenging Problem - White To Play

2kr4/ppp3Pp/4RP1B/2r5/5P2/8/PP1p3P/3K4 w - - 0 1

1.f7?? is premature as it allows Black counterplay with 1.Rc1+ 2.Ke2 d1=Q+ and mate to follow shortly.
Much better is

1.Rd6!

There are two ways to capture:

A) If 1...cxd6 then White proceeds with the immediate 2.f7

B) 1...Rxd6 2.g8=Q+ Rd8

3.Qxd8+ Kxd8
4.f7 Rf5
5.f8=Q+ Rxf8
6.Bxf8 Kd7
7.Kxd2 and wins

Another line, which basically comes out the same, is

2...Kd7
3.Qxh7+ Kc8
4.Qg8+ Kd7
5.Qf7+ Kc6
6.Qe8+ Kb6
7.Qe3 Kc6
8.Qxc5+ Kxc5
9.f7 Rf6
10.f8=Q+ Rxf8
11.Bxf8+ and wins

Payless ShoeSource is preparing for its second bankruptcy, according to CNBC.

This is the second time the company has filed for bankruptcy.

As part of the process, Payless is is looking for buyers for its real estate, which could include selling large blocks of stores in certain areas of the country. WIthout buyers, the company may have to close down a majority if not all of its 2,700 stores.

Black will have to play (not necessarily on first move):

after which white will eventually get g8=Q+

For example.

Weeelllll...now that you mention it, there's a site called Long Tall Sally that has shoes that START at size 9 and go up to size 14. Their clothes are geared toward tall women, the shortest inseam length is 34".

That's a line I hadn't seen, but it has the basic idea of the ones I did. 1.Rd6 is key and it allows an eventual pawn-advance-to-f7 threat.

She just looks regal. That word doesn't really convey what I mean but it is as close as I can come at the moment. The task makes me feel like Sam Gamgee trying to explain Galadriel. I remember Ayn Rand writing about a woman who's beauty was so stunning it was something to be worshipped, and I think she's something close to that.
