Saturday Morning Coffee Break

rise-shine-20170420-112.jpg

Good morning Horde. Let us examine a few stories that didn't get their fair share of attention here at the AoSHQ this past week.

  • Sammich bannings to stop crime.

  • Let them eat chicken tenders.

  • He will never do that again.

  • The Religion of Pieces doesn't hold its liquor very well.

  • Whiskey, the modern tool of Evangelists.

  • Gun Thread and Pet Thread all wrapped into one story.

  • Have you ever been this bored?

  • Munchies aren't the only thing caused by pot.

  • Bad drugs? Really bad?

  • There is a wrong way to teach sex education.

  • What's up with Florida cops? Truly, a Genius Award Winner.

    ***

Enjoy these stories or something else in this open thread. Please don't run with sharp objects and have a great weekend!!!!

LOL. No. Tomorrow's sermon is not on Genesis 19-35-38. It is on Ephesians 3;1-12 which doesn't mention wine or sex. I mentioned sex in the last thread because I got a stupid ad for Ashley Madison. I mentioned sex and booze in this thread because other people mentioned them first , but I actually have had sex and booze quite a few times , just no booze at 9:11 ST

You will get different opinions of course but I would say yes. I used to call the French "Frogs with dogs" so I have come along way. It is not like they are better than anyone else, but travel with a good vibe always enlightens. I had more great personal experiences in France than any other European country. Of course attitude and an attempt at the language goes a long way.

In the end, you will never go wrong with travel imo. It can be France, Italy, Japan, or wherever. The key is knowing what matters to you and making the best of it. Just like here, it will never be perfect, and the unusual experiences will be the ones you most remember.

173 42 Thank God Jayme Closs is alive and with what's left of her family. I didn't see a happy ending coming in this case. Glad to be wrong.
    ___________________

Yes, hopefully she'll be able to recover and move on with her life, although she may have a tougher time of it than Elizabeth Smart did, since Closs' parents were both murdered during the kidnapping.

I'm curious to hear more about why this guy targeted her. The articles yesterday said that he'd worked for just one day at the turkey plant where Closs' parents worked. Did he see the girl on that day, or did the parents talk about her, and is that how he became fixated on her, or did it happen some other way?

Lots of unanswered questions about why the guy did it, and where his other family members were while he was holding the girl captive in the family house.

Mark Levin said the latest polls are pro Dem and anti wall. Yes people are stupid but that is a given. The left has taken over media, hollyweird, and academia, they were in it for the long haul and got it. And conservatives don't even entertain the idea of taking on left wing social media, they just give in to fakebook, twitter, google, etc.

I am not saying all it lost. I am saying if conservatives want to win for real, over the long term, they better send their best and brightest to academia at the very least. We can only cede so much territory and still win.

I had Bells palsey after my daughter was born. It hit 2 days after she was born. I thought I had a stroke since I had pregnancy induced high blood pressure and it didn't go back down after delivery. It was a mild case since I was able to close my eye, mostly. It took about 8 months to fully recover and I haven't had a relapse. The ENT treating me helped me to figure out that I did have precognitive signs. He said if I ever felt them again to call him and he'd get me on prednisone and an anti-viral which can stop a full blown episode. My tell was the tip of my tongue went totally numb and I lost my sense of taste gradually over the day.

Yeah, this is why the MSM and esp. tards like Shep! are

    using the phrase-

"The country as a whole is not behind the President's plans for a wall."

You know, just like "the country as a whole" was never behind a single one of Obama's plans or fighting WWII or breaking away from England.

The country is never 100% behind anything.

These are simply weasel-words used by MSM-cowards so they can spew propaganda but claim they're really telling the truth.

Obviously, they hope to confuse the unintelligent (ie. average Dim voter).

    257 Hi grammie,

Sorry to hear you have Bell's.

I've had some patients who've had it through the years.

It's a weird one that doctors don't always have great handle on. If you're not getting the results you want, try someone else.

On the upside, sometimes it just goes away as quickly as it came. On the downside, it can take a while to go away or lessen to a livable degree.

But, usually it always lessens or goes away.

It often seems to have a trigger. so, maybe you can figure out what your is.

But, as always, I don't know
you or your situation, so always check with your doctor and it never hurts to get a second opinion esp. if you live in or near a big city. There may be a specialist who handles a lot of Bell's cases.

Hope things get better for you soon.

329 319 No; I didn't see about the church burning-uggh-and the fact that he belonged to neo-nazis groups is a very bad thing.

    He denied the church-burning accusation.

I don't think he's a neo-nazi, either although the SPLC would probably call him one.

But he did kill someone and served time for it. He claimed self-defense but that's a little fuzzy.

300 ....wonder how the whole middle finger gesture started, I mean, who invented it....

    -
Legend has it that before the Battle of Agincourt, the French (it's always the French) bragged that they would cut off the English longbow men's (it's always the longbows) bow pulling fingers and that after the battle the English showed the French that they still had their fingers.
Posted by: Anonosaurus Wrecks, Tyrannosaur Wrangler at January 12, 2019 10:18 AM (+y/Ru)

That legend is actually for the Limey version of flipping someone off, the backwards V (back of the hand towards the target), as opposed to the V for Victory thing, with the palm towards the target.

The middle finger goes back at least to Roman times, and if I had to guess on the meaning/origins, it's most likely phallic in nature.

336 Evidence that Trump is a Playa.

Bezos has made WaPo a Leftie attack vehicle to buy indulgences from the Left to excuse his abhorrent labor practices at Amazon. By doing so he's made Trump an enemy.

The National Enquirer broke Bezos's affair, and its owner is a friend of Trump's. Bezos will lose $70B in the divorce, and will lose control of Amazon if the wife is vindictive.

    Coincidence?

337 315 Probably a very dead opposition leader

Jay Nordlinger interviewed the opposition leader's daughter on his Q.A. podcast several months ago. I can't find it searching on Venezuela though (I found his interviews with Hannah Dreier, which I know are older).

She's out of the country. At the time the regime would not dare to harm him but that may have changed and he may have gotten out of the country by now but he declined to flee when his family did and he was in prison then.

Time to start seriously considering that border wall on the northern border as well.

Trumps is saying that he wants the shutdown to go a bit longer.

They just took on the lefttism shoved down their throats and asked for more. They attacked their teachers as not woke enough, but they never rebelled. And when you add in helicopter parenting, you get one weird generation. Canada is the same. We occupy the same continent, but they have no good story at all.

The damage fron pbho to world peace, America and his hatred of progress and reason was so severe that there were other, larger priorities to fix first.

Plus the Republican majority betrayed American citizens.

If Trump, who has governed as the most Constitution-following President since Eisenhower, was truly as evil as Democratic leaders, we would have Leftists in camps. Which is what Bill Ayers wants for the American citizens his preferred fascist government would do to the millions he did not kill outright. You are correct. A "Griddle" is a flat piece of metal that allows no flame to reach the protein involved.

The advantage is usually an even heat that puts a "crusty" Maillard-Effect on its subject.

A thick piece of metal, as you would find in your finer stove-top pans, makes for even distribution of heat.

No flames will ever reach your meat.

437 lin-duh - In Patrick O'Brien's Napoleonic era sea novels he uses toasted cheese as a staple food for his heroes. I have yet to get a definitive recipe for what they are eating. Don't think its a grilled cheese sammy.

Posted by: Skip at January 12, 2019 09:58 AM (/rm4P)

In Aubrey's day, toasted cheese was toasted bread, topped with cheese (the three types specifically mentioned are cheddar, manchego and parmesan) and then browned again. There is also the option to top the cheese with a little dry mustard before browning.

This recipe is from the book Lobscouse and Spotted Dog, which is a book specifically about the cooking mentioned in Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin novels.

Today, however, in Old Blighty a cheese toastie is just some variety of toasted cheese sandwich. From the pictures in the article, it looks like they are making some of them in their George Foreman grills.

Personally, I like to make toasted cheese sandwiches in the frying pan; to get that to work you have to butter the bread, which adds a little extra something to the dish.

That was exactly how they got their start, exposing corruption in the Chinese government. And for the last year or so they have turned their focus on the whole Russia collusion thing.

In my opinion they are doing some of the best reporting on the facts and piecing together the real collusion and corruption during the 2016 election and Jeff Carlson has been at the top of that.

480 They do a lot of meat - Japanese steakhouses are
good for that. There is also something called Katsu - it's exactly like
Schnitzel..and who does not like schnitzel ?? exactly.

481 Is a cheese toastie a type of grilled cheese sandwich or a piece of toast with cheese melted on top???
