"FACT CHECK: Between 60 percent and 80 percent of female migrants traveling through Mexico are raped along the way, Amnesty International estimates."But then they deleted that.

While I agree about AI overselling things, it's really not that much of a stretch to imagine an extremely high incidence of rape in third-world conditions when you have an expectation of high traffic of vulnerable transients through territory known to be heavily impacted by vicious criminal activity (e.g., drug cartels).
There's all the difference in the world between the vulnerability of a group of known women in a dangerous, yet stable community versus a group of women who are just passing through and don't know what places are safe/dangerous or who to go for for help, etc. Hell, it's not even exclusively for women in the third-world...a guy in Chicago who doesn't know what blocks to stick to and what not can really quickly run into big trouble...

The American Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government to force religious charities contracted by the government to provide abortions and contraception to illegal immigrants.
"We have heard reports that Catholic bishops are prohibiting Catholic charities from allowing teens in their care to access critical services like contraception and abortion -- even if the teenager has been raped on her journey to the United States or in a detention facility," ACLU staff attorney Brigitte Amiri told Fox.
Out of the nearly 60,000 unaccompanied minors that illegally crossed the southern border into the U.S. last year, nearly one-third were young girls and almost 80 percent of those girls were victims of sexual assault, Ms. Amiri said.
And the ACLU was concerned, so concerned about these girls . . ability to get free abortions.

What I found particularly evil about this Obama-created mess was that he used it to force Catholic organizations to provide abortions and birth control. What I found particularly evil about this Obama-created mess was that he used it to force Catholic organizations to provide abortions and birth control. Like creating a mess of rape and child prostitution wasn't enough, he had to leverage it further to force religious orgs into killing babies (just like his heavy-handed treatment of the Little Sisters of the Poor). An uglier Fast and Furious, if that's possible.

This is an issue in Texas. They are bringing in agents from further north in the state and the cartels *still* have envelopes with photos of the agents' families and personal info and instructions to be "somewhere else" on a given day. There is very much a "silver or lead, pick one." that makes it hard for even the most honest agent.

The first one... Trump claimed that increased taxes from the new trade deal with Mexico would pay for the wall. Yet experts have said that the increased taxes will not be enough to pay for the whole wall.
I had JUST WATCHED Trump say "in part".
A later "fact check"... Trump said bla bla bla amount of drugs come over the border but IN FACT most of it comes through check-points on roads in Really Big Trucks.
Right... because Trump totally said that wasn't where it came over the border when he mentioned better detection technology or whatever.
This morning getting blood drawn they had ABC on the television... Trump's address was "riddled with factual inaccuracies"... after all, he said it was an EPIDEMIC and IN FACT there's an all time low (except for this year it's higher, but never mind that it's still low) number of contacts at the border between all these horrible people and border enforcement.
They are fact checking the word "epidemic" and disagreeing that "epidemic" is an appropriate description.
They aren't fact checks, they're counter-arguments.
And I feel like a stupid baby for even being upset about being lied to so baldly. But I am.
