That's about what he comes up with, but it's more than that, he also breaks the code of Vermeer: One patron for most of his life, very low output of paintings, almost all of them look like they could have been staged in the same room, and more. He travels the world and then builds the whole scene and replicates the painting, which hangs in Buckingham Palace. He even manages to wangle a visit to see the real thing. It's a very good film. It encouraged me to go to Delft to the Vermeer Museum and Vermeer's house, which includes the room in question. Posted by: scottst at December 12, 2018 10:06 AM (mDrEG) 115

That is a bass viol da gamba on the floor, rather than a cello or bass. The C-shaped sound hole gives it away.
That instrument would have had six gut strings, and frets on the upper half of the fingerboard. It would have had more or less the same range as a cello (which is the historical reason why the string bass is also called a _double_ bass). So, practically speaking, impeachment is out of the question. Not enough time.
By the time Democrats prepare and conclude the House proceedings, it will be 2020. At that point, the Trump Administration can simply say "Let the people decide if I should be president." I believe the Republicans will retake the House in 2020 and the whole impeachment thing will be cast aside. The Republicans will say "Hey, the people have spoken. They heard the evidence and voted to keep Donald Trump as president. Any attempt at impeachment will be an epic misfire by the Democrats. Waste of time. Mr. Brown: Lemme tell you what 'Like a Virgin' is about. It's all about this cooze who's a regular fuck machine, I'm talking morning, day, night, afternoon, dick, dick, dick, dick, dick, dick, dick, dick, dick. Mr. Blue: How many dicks is that? Mr. White: A lot. Mr. Brown: Then one day she meets this John Holmes motherfucker and it's like, whoa baby, I mean this cat is like Charles Bronson in the 'Great Escape', he's digging tunnels. Now, she's gettin' the serious dick action and she's feeling something she ain't felt since forever. Pain. Pain. Joe: Chew? Toby Chew? Mr. Brown: It hurts her. It shouldn't hurt her, you know, her pussy should be Bubble Yum by now, but when this cat fucks her it hurts. It hurts just like it did the first time. You see the pain is reminding a fuck machine what it once was like to be a virgin. Hence, 'Like a Virgin'. ________________ lol. Reparations for what, exactly? For all the vicious gangs they've sent here? For all the drugs? For all the welfare seekers? 3/4 of "immigrants" (both legal and illegal) in CA are living on welfare. Over 60% of immigrants nationwide are receiving some type of welfare, and many receive multiple types of welfare. It costs U.S. taxpayers somewhere between $150 and $500 billion a year to pay for all the shit we provide to illegal aliens. If anybody is owed "reparations," it's U.S. taxpayers. I worked retail some 25 years ago. Ended up in a management position that was "salaried" meaning they could screw you over even more! What used to really piss me off was that you rarely got 2 days off in a row. You'd close the night before your day off and open after it. Then a day later you would get another day off on the same time frame. It was like they were purposefully trying to piss you off. As a bonus, they would start playing Christmas tunes in October and "Musac" Had about 15 songs on the whole rotation. I couldn't listen to Christmas music for years after that.

I just looked up 'pelosi' in an on-line Italian dictionary () - it's a masculine plural adjective meaning "shaggy, hairy, furry". Since plural adjectives can be used as nouns in Italian as well as English, and masculine plurals are used for mixed-gender groups, 'pelosi' would be Italian for 'furries'. (Whether Italians actually call the pervy sort of furries 'pelosi' I neither know nor want to know. Maybe to a native speaker it would imply 'bears' as in fat, hairy, gay guys.)

CNN
@CNN Scientists say that beef consumption must fall drastically to avert a climate catastrophe. But even if you're not ready to give it up entirely, you still have plenty of options that will make a big difference: https://cnn.it/2EpjniC Bug Foundation, a startup based in Germany, developed a burger made from mealworms that is now stocked in more than 1,000 supermarkets across Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. " If you compare insects with beef, for the same amount of protein, you need roughly 1,000 times less water, 10 times less feed and you emit up to 100 times less greenhouse gases," said Baris Oezel, co-founder of Bug Foundation. - Yeah, no. When I was a kid I had a pet horned toad (who I named Alfred because his profile resembled Hitchcock) and I fed him meal worms. That's the closest I'll ever get to meal worm meals. 441 Beautiful painting. I was lucky enough to be able to see a Vermeer exhibit in person earlier this year and could stick my nose right up close to see how he painted the light. It was amazing. And as Kris notes, not a lot of his work exists. Posted by: Nefertiti at December 12, 2018 11:11 AM (U5tDi) I bet if you searched Soros' basement you'd find more. Speaking of which, I saw an ad the other day for some product - booze, I think - that was celebrating "you" as you gather at your family's house for the holidays, with each person you "see" having a subtitle - "crazy cousin," "sleepy uncle" and so on.
Including "your dad," "your mom" and "your mom's new boyfriend." Lovely. Posted by: Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing at December 12, 2018 11:03 AM (kqsXK) I think that was Heineken beer. And it looked to me as though they were kind of poking fun at the "inclusivity" racket. Maybe. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at December 12, 2018 11:46 AM (fDU8w) 484

"What exactly is a virginal?"
I interrupt this stream of double-entendres to answer the question. A virginal is a type of harpsichord in which the strings are strung across the instrument rather than along it. In other words, the strings run from the player's left to her right, rather than toward or away from the player. This design limits the range of sounds a virginal can make, but also makes it more compact than the harpsichord. In effect, a virginal is to a harpsichord what an upright piano is to a grand piano. And by the way, that's not a "bass fiddle" in the picture: it's a viola da gamba. Posted by: Brown Line at December 12, 2018 12:59 PM (S6ArX) 486
"And as Kris notes, not a lot of his work exists."
One was stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston in 1990, and has never been recovered. I suspect it's in the bedroom of some drug lord or Russian mafioso, given that the theft was carefully executed and the thieves knew exactly what they wanted. But perhaps some day it'll pop up in a flea market. Posted by: Brown Line at December 12, 2018 01:05 PM (S6ArX) Processing 0.06, elapsed 0.0665 seconds. |
